Hello
First of all thanks goes to Daneshm90 for his script
I really like HTC_IME but JIT dont like it So I had to use other keyboard which is working with JIT. I found Swype but I don't like how it's looks like. I did't found any skin for Android Swype... So I've made my own HTC_IME like skin.
Here is the result of my work:

WVGA (now only portrait but I'll make landscape too) = N1, Desire, Incredible, EVO 4G, Liquid, etc
HVGA = Dream, Sapphire, Legend, Backflop, Eris, etc
To install new skin you have to download attached file for your resolution and fallow this steps (SDK needed):
1. Extract files.
2. Connect your phone to PC with enabled debuging mode.
3. Run Swype.bat
4. Wait untill the script finish.
5. Unplug your phone and you are ready to go
Those seemed to work for my swype. It could be version specific.
You can also download only images.
If you downloaded images you can apply them by using some root explorer and replacing files or you can use apk manager (sdk needed) and fallow this steps:
1. Place your apk into this folder "place-apk-here-for-modding"
2. Run script and choose decompile.
3. Open folder "out".
4. Go to \assets\keyboards
5. Replace images
6. Run script again and choose compile
7. choose sign.
8. Your app with new skin is in folder called "place-apk-here-for-modding".
I tested HVGA version on HTC Magic 32A.
But I dont have WVGA device so if you will test it post your opinion.
If you want also that popup look:
Read THIS.

I always wondered if this was posibble.. Thanks a lot for this.
I'm confused how to install however.. i downloaded the images zip file but have no idea how to apply it. There is no such setting in swype settings. Any help??
i've installed it, its cool ! but i want it in blue xD can i edit the images but then where i put 'em ? and if i unrar the apk and edit it, i have to sign it :S but i dunno how .

You can use APK Manager to do this. Just put apk into correct folder run script and choose decompile, find your pngs, edit them and compile apk. And you have also option to sign application.

That wont work. morph cannot sign apk's and this will require signing the apk since its content will be modified.
Ur best bet now would be to create a simple script, where a user with swype running on their phone can connect it to their pc, the script pulls it from their /data/app folder, extracts it, replaces its png's with urs, repackages n signs it, uninstalls the version on the users phone and then installs the newly modified one. Let me know if u need any help creating the script
K so heres my little simple script. This is how it works :
1. Requirements adb,java,windows
2. Have ur phone connected and run the script.
3. Once done u'll have ur themed swype installed on ur phone
It basically pulls the apk from ur phone, extracts it, replaces the images, rezips it, resigns it, removes swype from ur phone, installs this modded version.
Hey Cypis, its wierd, when i try to modify with compression level -mx9 which apk manager uses, it force-closes me on the phone, however if i change it to mx0 which is no compression it works. Did u have these issues as well ? Reminds me i gotta add an option to customize compression level in apk manager. Admins, u should have no trouble with this script as it requires u HAVE swype installed on ur phone
I didnt have these issues... thats great that someone care about make it working.

Hmm, k. So perhaps its just me
So users who care about app size, you can edit the .bat file in any text editor of ur choice, and change -mx0 to anything from -mx1...-mx9. 0 being least/no compression, 9 being most compression.
is it just me or are the images only hvga? aren't they supposed to be wvga?

Not sure, dont own any wvga device. Works fine on my htc magic though, im guessing cuz its hvga
Anyway in terms of script, i added a little thing more, it now backs up ur /data/data swype folder cuz some might complain they dont want to lose their swype dictionary.

Ok, I just had to ask. I noticed in your screenshots the Language notification overlay on the Q key is black. I've been searching on how to get mine black as I'd like to skin my Swype with an HTC skin.
Did you just edit the .png's to have that PL on there or did you manage to edit some other file (probably some smali file in the classes.dex)?
If you did change it (non-static/ changes depending on language selected), can you tell me how?
I use a Motorola Droid and while I love Swype to death, I totally dislike the stock skin it has.
Thanks for your time.

He has update his original post. Its hvga, not wvga. So wait till he creates a wvga compatible one.
Update 1/10 Minor update to some, maybe major to others, I've made some changes to the status bar pull down for Ascend users, I've changed the main text to be black, I'm still not completely happy with it, so i'll keep tweaking... Also, I've added support for HDPI devices in the Gingerbread3.5.zip, in general the theme should work on a wider variety of devices.

Update 1/9 The theme is pretty much complete
In order for Ascend users to get the white clock you need to download buildprop and replace the one under your system folder with it. You'll have to be rooted and use a file manager or you could use adb shell or a terminal to replace your build.prop
Another change to the build.prop for the popups!!!
Special thanks to yuyuye for the information.
I've attached some screenshots of the theme in action. There are many more changes not visible in the screenshots, the majority of the framework-res have been updated to match the new theme.
UPDATE 12/16
I've attached the metamorph theme in case anyone wants to try it, i would say it's beta quality as it's not finished, but it's usable. Just load the v0.1.zip file on to your sdcard, download metamorph and install away. If you have any basic questions, feel free to ask but I won't be providing an major support yet because it's not finished. I would say it's 75% complete at the most. And as always, you shouldn't have any problems but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
UPDATE 12/22
New version v0.3 with a change to the submenu, I changed the submenu to white so the text is legible until i can get the Ascend deodexed and properly change the color of the text...
The download labeled GingerbreadAscend3.zip is may specifically for the Ascend I don't recommend anyone apply it on any other phones
The download labeled Gingerbread3.zip is for any and all MDPI phones
Have fun!!!

Insrtuctions for installation:This is a Metamorph theme, so download and install Metamorph. Put the theme on your sdcard. Make sure your phone is rooted, you have busbox downloaded and installed and that usb debugging is turned on
For Ascend users, download your appropriate build.prop file and use a program like root explorer or subfs to copy and paste it into the /system/ directory, if you don't want to purchase one of those programs, download this program from the market "Mount /system (rw / ro)" open it and mount the system as r/w then use adb shell or a terminal emulator to copy the file over
Code:
su
cp /sdcard/build.prop /system/build.prop

Thanks, but problem is I don't have a "values" folder in my framework, much less an xml called "style" in any of the folders...
wait..
I'm an idiot... found it
It wasn't re-compiling the whole framework for me either, i had to to trick it to get it to re-compile the styles.xml by putting it in a different folder and renaming it... Flashed it to my phone.... and... no difference, pulled the framework back down and made sure the changes where present and they are... the Ascend doesn't seem to use those files at all... I'm pretty sure too because i accidentally deleted all the files in the values folder except the styles.xml and the phone works fine...
Thanks for your ideas Benny879, if you have any insight as to whats going on, I'd appreciate any help you could give, in the mean time i'm going to be pouring through these xml files, looking for any clues...
For anyone following the progress on this, the problem seems to be that this phone uses odex files instead of the more easily assessable jar or apks, so I'm looking into deodexing the necessary files... If anyone could offer assistance, I would appreciate it...

The gingerbread metamorph theme I'm working on will change your lock screen sliders, your notification bar and slide down, your dialog confirmation buttons, market place tab button and a bunch of other misc graphics, your signal bars, battery, bluetooth, etc... The theme i'm working on doesn't touch the launcher. i personally use launcher pro, so this theme doesn't conflict with it, but if you want your launcher specifically to look like gingerbread's, you can find themes already made for launcher pro..

Unfortunately, it's on 3.2, so if you've upgraded to 4G (and 3.2.2), you'll have to wait for a port (or the real deal). I'll upload files in the morning. Still have one or two things to tweak, but right now, bed!

-To change Roboto to your system font, drop it into the .fontchanger folder on your SD card (make sure that you can see hidden files in your
file explorer of choice) then navigate to it in the FontChanger app.
AndroidClock.ttf
AndroidClock_Solid.ttf
AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
Two ways to install:
A. With Root Explorer
1. Put the files and folders in your XOOM's SD Card
2. Navigate to them in Root Explorer
3. Copy each one over individually to their respective folders
(Note - Make sure you change your XOOM to writable in Root Explorer by switching W/O to R/O at the top)
-For framework-res.apk, copy it into system/framework, then reboot.
-For files in the System Apps folder, copy them over to system/app (Reboot after installing SystemUI.apk and Launcher2.apk)
*NOTE THAT CHANGING THE LAUNCHER WILL WIPE WIDGETS FROM HOMESCREENS. Back up any circle launcher settings you have to save time resetting everything.
-For files in the Fonts folder, copy them over to system/fonts (Reboot for the status bar clcok change) and use FontChanger to set Roboto as the main system font.
B. Via ADB (If you want the Gingerbread clock and CL Buttons, you still need to install them manually)
1. Copy all files INDIVIDUALLY over to your Android SDK Tools folder first (You can put
them all in a single folder if you wish, just be sure to push from that folder, as in adb push folder\file /system/folder/file )
(These are CASE SENSITIVE!)
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb push SystemUI.apk system/app
adb push Browser.apk system/app
adb push Launcher2.apk system/app # THIS WILL WIPE YOUR HOMESCREEN WIDGETS
adb push DeskClockGoogle.apk system/app
adb push Settings.apk system/app
adb push AndroidClock.ttf system/fonts/
adb push AndroidClock_Solid.ttf system/fonts/
adb push AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf system/fonts/
adb reboot
I'm currently working on some new Circle Launcher icons. The ones you see in the screenshot are placeholder. I want to make them look like the ICS folders instead.
Im assuming us 3.2.1 users are out too. Womp womp.
By the way...it looks beautiful. Thank you in advance.

This looks great, making a backup now in anticipation
Don't matter what android OS i have installed i always fit the same ADW launcher.
Al though a newer OS is running in the background i alway seem to end up installing the same apps and widgets
simply, beautiful

It will have to be ported first. There's a couple of guys on the forums who have ported over several themes to tiamat ROMS, so as long as they're up for it, it will be on those ROMS, too.
Going to have to hold off on flashing this since its not compatible with tachi 2.2.2
Looks really slick though, I don't know how to port or else I'd do it
Looks very nice.
I've almost got a port for Tiamat 222... testing it now.

No XML edits, pretty much only just everything arrtoodeetoo has done so far. Pretty slick looking. Thanks dude!!
Thanks, Bazer! I will update the title and first post to include your contribution.
The longer I have this on my XOOM, the more excited I am to get the real thing on it. I love the shade of blue they're using in ICS. That being said, I will probably theme the real deal to be Android Green.

No problem dude, happy to contribute. And Apktool has been patched and works perfectly for 3.2, I'll try to get a link to it since its a patch and not a complete nnew version, he attached to one of the problem threads. I've been using it to almost anything.

The problem I have is with the XML files. They break the apks when I edit them and drop the new .asrc file into the apk. Everything else works fine.
Would you make a .zip file which is flashable through CWM ?
I would, but I don't know how. I think MitchTank did it for the Stargate theme (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Maybe he will drop by and help with this one.

Just grab the one I linked, its a cwm zip. Put framework-res.apk inside /system/framework, and put the other apks inside /system/app.. /system/font is already filled, along with /data/local for the boot anim. Then go to /meta-inf/com/Google/ and pull out updater-script, in notepad++ edit the starred boxes that has my custom messageto your own, and you're good to roll!

THEME TEMPLATE - CM9
WARNING: MAY CAUSE A SEVERE ADDICTION TO THEMINGI have received numerous requests about theming CM9 from various people, and after directing them all to my home forum where I have a template, a member here (ebs512) suggested that I post the template here because it was so useful.
Some up-and-coming themers have indicated that some of the experienced themers have been reluctant to help them too much with creating new themes so in order to alleviate both the flood of PMs that experienced themers have and the lack of help that the newbies receive, here is a CM9 Template for everyone.
It's currently only for MDPI and HDPI but Anyone can easily add XHDPI compatibility by using my XML generator, see directions at the bottom concerning Density and Compatibility
PREREQUISITES: YOU MUST HAVE APKTOOL INSTALLED
There are many, many tutorials on how to install apktool, just google it.
Directions:
1. Download the template from Mediafire (updated 7/20/2012)
2. Unzip the code to a convenient location
3. Edit the images, change colors, do everything you want to it
4. Choose the Compatibility you want by following the directions of your choice (See below 4.1-4.4)
5. Open up your command prompt
6. Enter the following command:
Code:
apktool b location_of_the_source_code_folder
and it will build.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
7. Don't forget to sign the apk before installing it
8. Publish your theme here or on Google Play
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for negative comments you receive if you create a terrible theme. Everyone has full permission to create themes off this template and distribute them (if you plan on creating paid themes, please also provide a free download in the spirit of open source).
DIRECTIONS FOR XHDPI COMPATIBILITYSince you are using apktool to build your theme, there are inherent problems that are unfixable. The problem lies in the location of the Preview.png that shows up when you open up the theme chooser. Leaving it out will let your theme be compatible with all densities, but you will not be able to show a preview.
4.1 To make compatible with HDPI and MDPI (and LDPI)
1. Install a framework-res.apk from a Samsung Galaxy S2 CM9 ROM by downloading the apk and typing:
Code:
apktool if location_of_SGS2_ICS_framework\framework-res.apk
2. Make sure you have HDPI and MDPI folders in the theme folder with the proper images
3. Place the Preview.png in the XHDPI folder, that's right, the XHDPI folder
4. Compile
4.2 To make compatible with MDPI only
1. Delete the contents of the HDPI folder
2. Move the Preview.png from the XHDPI folder (its default location) to the HDPI folder
3. Compile
4.3 To make compatible with XHDPI and HDPI
1. Delete the MDPI Folder
2. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
3. Add Images for XHDPI to the XHDPI Folder (make sure they are named correctly)
4. Move the Preview.png from drawable-XHDPI to the drawable folder
5. Compile
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "@drawable/preview"
2. Add XHDPI images
3. Install an XHDPI framework-res.apk from an XHDPI CM9 ROM (Like the Galaxy Nexus):
Code:
apktool if location_of_XHDPI_framework\framework-res.apk
4. Compile
More information on how to theme certain elements is located in this wonderful guide by xda member nhnt11
I do not have a donation button, but if you feel like it, purchase one of my CM9 Themes (available on several forums for free) off google play
Please visit the original thread on my home forum also.
And... if you are really stuck and need to talk to me, send me a PM or hit me up on gtalk at [email protected]

Updated OP with directions about making your theme compatible with different screen densities. PLEASE READ those directions, because if you don't you will have problems applying it. Take special note about installing the proper framework-res.apk with apktool.
Thanks for this! Do you have any tips in regards to batch editing images for mdpi? It's going to take me a while to get through the 2587 images in the hdpi so when I've done it would be nice if I could just run a handy tool of some sort to re-size them all for mdpi/xhdpi.

Batch resizing is a bad idea with all the .9.pngs, but if you want you can batch resize non-.9's. Batch recoloring is very simple with Photoshop (which I don't have).I use GIMP to batch edit. There are a couple plugins for it, but I use a script and edit using the command prompt. If you have Photoshop though, use that, it costs a lot because its the best. //Advice

I'll just do what i usually do and go through one by one where I don't already have an image to replace and batch what I can. I do use PS as my main editor along with Paint.Net for certain things.
Thanks.

Get adobe fireworks for batch editing if you just want to change the color...otherwise if you use gimp get a plugin called bimp (batch image manipulation plugin)

Could anyone please kindly help upload the template to another file host service?
For some reasons I was unable to download it from mediafire.
Thanks!
I updated the theme template. CHECK the FIRST post.
CHANGE LOG:
* Themed the volume sliders and other sliders
* Fixed the problems with inverted apps not showing up correctly (most of them)
* Removed some unnecessary images from the template (cuts down on size)
Enjoy. I'm glad to see a bunch of you using this already, glad it's helping
Do you know how to fix missing assets? I know I can ignore it, but it's just annoying. btw, those lots of redirections at redirections.xml are really needed? I've never seen any theme like this.
4.4 To make compatible with everything
1. Open up the AndroidManifest.xml and add a backslash "\" before "drawable\preview.png"
This is confusing because preview.png isn't in the AndroidManifest.xml.
The correction is "\" before "@drawable/preview"
There is another thread with the how to make a T-mobile theme which have more detail what can be themed, see link. A reference to the post is helpful for beginners.
Please update the first post.
Thanks for posting.

ALL OF THE LOCKRINGS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE 5TH POST
G’Day XDA,
This is a really simple to do guide on changing the lockring on both a stock Samsung circle lockscreen and the AOSP lockscreen on ALL SAMSUNG, AOSP & AOKP ROMS and essentially this same method should also work on ALL ANDROID ROMS that are both ODEXED & DEODEXED. I have tested both using my own phone which is a Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 which is running a stock Samsung odexed rom. I have been told that it also works on a Sony Xperia Arc. Your specific rom may have the lockring file named as something else, so you may need to go into framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi (or-xhdpi or -mdpi depending on what device/rom you're running) to find the correct file. If you need help you can attach your framework-res.apk in here and I will do my best to help you out.
This is really easy to do for even a beginner like me, so I’m sure anyone that reads this will be able to do it. There are a few prerequisites to this mod – first of all you need a computer with an unzip style program like 7Zip, your phone needs to be rooted and you also need some kind of file manager (I use ES File Explorer but lots of people say they use Root Explorer). You will also need to have access to a program like Photoshop or Irfanview or Pixlr or Greenfish Icon Editor Pro if you want to change any pictures yourself. I have detailed everything step by step below with pictures so it should be very easy to follow.
Here's the guide…
(Lockrings in 5th post) PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU MAKE A NANDROID/CWM BACKUP BEFORE TRYING THIS - I CAN'T BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS YOU FACE, BUT I WILL DO MY BEST TO HELP YOU OUT IF YOU DO RUN INTO PROBLEMS
Step 1 - You will need to download the lockring that you would like to use. I have used different styles from HERE and also from HERE and also made my own. You can find some lockring collections made by martintspedersen HERE and by shishircoolin HERE. If you are smart enough to make your own using a program like Photoshop or Pixlr then top work. Just make sure that it is definitely a PNG file. Also make sure that if you want any of it transparent that it actually is (I made this mistake and it didn’t look very good, so I had to get my gorgeous fiancée to fix it up for me, as she is highly skilled in the art of Photoshop). Save the lockring onto your computer somewhere (I keep all of my stuff in a Mods folder) and you will need to modify it soon.
Step 2 - You will need to make a copy of framework-res.apk (which is located in /system/framework) and put it anywhere onto your phone’s SD card. Again, I use a folder called Mods which is easy to locate and remember.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 3 - Plug a micro USB cable into your phone and then plug the other end into your computer. Open the directory where you saved framework-res.apk (for me it is GTI9100/Phone/Mods) and move it onto your computer’s desktop.
Step 4 - Now right click on framework-res.apk and select 7Zip – Open Archive.
Step 5 - Within the opened 7Zip archive, navigate to res\drawable-hdpi\ (or res\drawable-xhdpi on a Galaxy Nexus) and locate these files:
For the stock Samsung Circle Lockscreen, find unlockscreen_lock_01.png to unlockscreen_lock_20.png. These usually have a padlock ranging in different stages of unlocking, but I have used the same picture in all of them. You can do the same or modify them slightly, it's up to you.
For the AOSP Lockscreen, find ic_lockscreen_handle_normal.png which is the lock that is visible when a hardware button is pressed, and ic_lockscreen_handle_pressed.png is the same lock with the ring around it that appears when you press the lock.
Step 6 - Change the name of the lockring PNGs that downloaded earlier and want to use to the corresponding file names. For example, I have changed the PNGs in the first picture to use in the stock Samsung Circle lockscreen and the PNGs in the second picture are for the AOSP Lockscreen:
Step 7 - Now drag the renamed PNGs into the res\drawable-hdpi folder. Click yes when it asks you to confirm.
Step 8 - Close the 7Zip archive and now copy your newly modified framework-res.apk back onto the SD card of your phone. Again for me, I use the Mods file so it's easy to find.
Step 9 - Now on your phone, open your file explorer and navigate to where your modified framework-res.apk is. Long press it and select Move To and move it to the System folder on the root directory of your phone.
Step 10 - Now navigate to the System folder and long press on the framework-res.apk and select Properties. You will see this:
Notice how the Permissions is set to rw- rw- rw-? We need to change this otherwise you'll have big problems. Click the Change button and you will see this:
Step 11 - Uncheck the Group - write and Other - write boxes so that it looks like this:
Now click OK and you will see this:
Now click OK.
Step 12 - Now long press on framework-res.apk and select Move To. Move it to the Framework folder within System.
You will see the following warning:
Click OK. Now your phone will freeze. This is ok. It will be frozen for roughly 1 - 1½ minutes, then it will restart.
Once it reboots, you will be staring at your new masterpiece!
Stock Samsung Circle Lockscreen
ICS Lockscreen
LOCKRINGS (These are made for a HDPI screen and are at 162dp x 162dp)
Ok below are a bunch of lockrings for everyone to use. I have also included the Stock ICS lockring and the Stock Samsung Circle lockring so that if you want to modify them yourself then you can. The other lockrings were made by me (apart from Metallica which was made by martintspederen). Just click on the picture you want and it will open up a new tab where you can download it. Once it's downloaded, extract the files and rename them to the appropriate file name for your particular lockscreen. Requests are both welcome and encouraged!
ALL OF THE LOCKRINGS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE 5TH POST, SO PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE AND DOWNLOAD THEM
Now if this post helped you I would love to know about it, so please post a reply. Even post screen shots of what you have done would be great.
Cheers XDA,

Are you talking about the wallpapers that are in the screenshots in the guide? If so then it is actually a live wallpaper. I downloaded a program called Windows 7 Dreamscene Activator which you can get from here and I know it says it is for Windows 7 but I am running Vista and it works on my computer and I know it runs on XP Premium as well.
So once you install Dreamscene Activator you just right click on any mpg file and select Set as Desktop Background and then you've got a live wallpaper. Then I just searched for dreamscene wallpaper download on Google and that's how I found the Android one which is on the Dreamscene website here but for some reason it's not working at the moment. I'm fairly certain that you need to go to Control Panel/Display then click on the Appearance tab and then click the Advanced button.
In this section you can change the colour for all of the backgrounds and text that you want. It's pretty cool.
Let me know how you go?

Sure mate. What device are you using? And do you mean the lockscreen that you use to enter in a pattern to unlock the phone? How big exactly do you want it? I have a bit of an idea the files that you need to modify but I would like to know the device to be able to help you as best I can.
