eqaulizer for the nook color? - Nook Color General

my mom likes me to rip DVDs to her nook, and listen to grooveshark, so that she can be distracted while she exercises at the gym. she has been telling me that it is simply amazing, but her only complaint is the occasional movie that isnt compatible and that the volume isnt loud enough. the compatibility is easy for me to fix, but the volume issue is not.
i have cm6 on my hero, and i have used DSP Manager to increase the headphone volume. when i ripped DSP Manager from the cm6-hero.zip, and tried to install it, it simply wouldnt work, so i assume that DSP is a 2.2 app.
is there a 2.1 equalizer or something? i would be thrilled to be able to fix this for her. thanks guys

I've also noticed the volume is kinda wack. Dunno anything about a fix though.
//from the nook COLOR

I just convert with volume at 130% on all my videos. Works great.

do you use handbrake? or something else?

If you are rooted, there is an app from market "Louder Volume Hack" or "AudioHack" there are few settings, i'm not sure on the settings i played with them until i noticed and increase in static noise.

Tf3d: Control Music volume separately

I'd like to set the music audio lower than my system volume on the tf3d audio player. (I think I'm one of those few who listen to music while going to sleep and I can't get system volume quiet enough to not be annoying).
I've tried Shaps Advanced configuration tool to toggle the music player volume but it must be designed for the old HTC home because I can't tell any difference even after dropping from 100 to 5 and rebooting.
Any ideas? Is there already a knowledge base on this? If so, please point me there as I've done every search I can think of.
Thanks in advance.
you can use windows media player instead.
Yeah. But WMP is much less user-friendly and it doesn't integrate seamlessly with TF3D. If I knew alternatives to TF3D that integrated a good music player on a vga device I would switch. But so far everything I've tried including SBP Shell don't seem to do that well.
Thanks for the suggestion.
TF3D volume too high
Long time after the creation of tis post ...
but I'm experimenting the same issue!
When my volume slider is on the minimum (actually one step above zero), the music volume is still too loud for me.
Has anyone found an issue to that?
Thank's
It's been a long time since I used the Fuze. But as I remember, you could go to the settings in one of the far-right tabs of Touch Flo (if using a customized ROM) and manually change the volume. But it only stayed that way until the next time you changed it. I eventually just bought a set of headphones with their own independent volume slider so I could adjust it that way. It was a clumsy solution and one reason I left Windows Os behind for good. We'll see about their improvements with W7, but I'm skeptical until I see they can get it right.
Hope that helps!
I have the same problem. Minimum volume on my HTC Touch Pro 2 is far too loud when I am in a quiet ambiance.
I would be very interested in a solution.
It is a pity that there are "amplificators" available but obviously no system that could help us protecting our ears !
yeah, I have the same problem, but Nitrogen player looks even more finger friendly and stable, it do not ruin my music library, so everything is just the way it was in my now dead iriver Clix

[SOLVED] Speaker Sound Problem! App available

Hi there,
have somebody tried the DSP SoundManager? I extracted this one from the CyanogenMod ROM and get a little bit better sound...
May you want to try it! Maybe there is a forward developed version of this, so please post it!
Regards, Andi
I can't notice any difference. I had the speaker on hi then installed it pumped up the settings and it made no difference.

Same here ..
I'm new here and with no experience, but maybe we need rooted device to work?! It would be nice to hear navigation while driving..
I have a rooted device. But I don't hear any difference.
Moved to Themes and Apps
Cheers,

no way
Downloaded and installed no difference at all.
What I have to understand is why POWERAMP with its settings (equalizer set to loud speaker value) has a far better volume than the stock music player.
If we can get its way to do that an app like the one in this thread may work.
May be poweramp just modifies in realtime the mp3 values I don't know really we need to investigate.
Youtube for example has a very poor volume altough the copilot using SVOX TTS voices (with SVOX volume at 200) is good enough.
I think is just the kernel I don't understand why the quality is so bad with some features and so good with others....
hmm i just watched a video from htc. and the introduce a feature that the device recognize where it is, for example in your pocket or backpack and if you get a call it will raise the speaker volume...
but i dont know if its just to the maximum which probalby everybody has set or if you can go over this limit...
Here is working version of DSP manager.
its a start, but i think this workaround creates some other problems... for my self, i just increased the volume of my ringtone and it worked as well.
hopefully this dspmanager workaround gets updatet or even htc will take care of it...

[Q] DVD to MP4 Conversion Program to Increase Volume?

I have been exploring a few dvd to mp4 programs to convert my kids Disney dvds over to enjoy on the NC. Problem is I haven’t found a way yet to increase the volume level in the transfer so the movie can easily be heard on the NC. Any suggestions out there on a conversion program that would actually assist in increasing the volume too?
These are the ones I have tried messing with so far with no luck in a volume increase:
--HandBrake
--DVDFab8
--FreeMake
AVS Video Converter
Use the prograsm DSPManager to increase the EQ settings. A boost to the mid frequencies will help a ton.

Thanks for the tip. Trying to find something that won’t require adjusting on the fly on the NC for each movie. Does DSP allow a one-time setting to make the increases and have them permanent?
try VidCoder for considerable audio sound increase
VidCoder is a standalone app that uses HandBrake's functions. If you've used HandBrake, VidCoder will be a snap to use. If not, it's still a pretty easy to use software with considerable power of input and change (as does HandBrake).
It has the capability to considerably increase the dB on the G-Tablet. I would recommend going no higher than +16. At +20 there is a garbling and roughness from loud noises and loud music. You will be amazed at the increase in Gain. VidCoder works much like HandBrake, but is geared toward the PC and Windows including Win 7, unlike HandBrake which has a PC Windows capability but is essentially directed toward the Apple OS. Back some time ago I presented a process that worked for me. Don't recall when or where it's located.
VidCoder Website is at: htttp://www.vidcoder.codeplex.com
the main function of nook color is reading ebook, if u want to enjoy dvd movies on nook color, u need to consider the battery life.
the volume of nook color is indeed a problem. handbrake can convert dvd to nook color compatible formats, but it can't increase the volumn.
I've been using Volume + to amplify my sound. It works fine. I went into it 1 time, cranked up the volume and leave it. All other volume control is done from my hard buttons....No fuss no mess. Anyways easiest solution I've found and it's free for download............http://androidaudiohacks.com/home/volume-gingerbread/download

Good Audio App? Volume Control?

Moto X Dev Ed. I hate the G**gle Player app. I don't want them knowing what I'm listening to. (How does it frickin' bypass Android Firewall to get album covers?!) And it has no volume control through headphones.
I tried Phonon, but it doesn't allow you to choose a folder to play, which is a vital function for me.
Walkman crashes on this phone, at least this Tit-restored one I have, and it's not in the Play store.
Anyone recommend an audio app which allows you to coose a folder of music to play?
Is there a reason my volume buttons have no effect on the level in headphones? (it's too quiet)

Have you tried PowerAmp? There are free and pay versions.
I don't think volume control headphones work with android phones.. at least they never have in my experience (unless maybe they're specially made for it) Only pause/play button works. I don't think its an app issue, its android itself I believe.
As far as players I use a simple less known app called Maple which lets you play from folders and has some cool features like pitch and speed adjustment, and its free.

I have used PowerAmp in free version. Happy feel to using it..
PowerAmp expires after two weeks.
Maple is OK, although I'm still trying to figure out how to play a directory and switch directories.
Also, these are not volume-adjust headphones. They are just regular Koss headphones, but the phone's volume control doesn't have any influence over the volume in them. Controls do work with the phone speaker.
JetAudio. I like it on my Windows machines, and I think I'm going to on KK too. I think it'll play a directory since it plays 'albums' in a directory.

Viper4Android FX on the Note 8

Maybe this is really simple, however I can't get it to work: I'm trying to increase the volume of the Note 8 via Viper4Android - I've never used it before.
I've seen a couple of Magisk V4A modules, most prominently this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-viper4android-fx-2-5-0-5-t3577058
However it has no loudness effect even when I play with the settings, volume gain etc. Even the EQ doesn't seem to be having any effect...
Am I missing something, need to install something else?
Apparently it's app—based, the volume of video playback goes up. Only Spotify somehow bypasses V4A and stays quiet, WTF?
No, wrong impression—no effect even in video playback.

Hey just a quick question and sorry if you have already checked, but if you go to settings, is the driver installed and show as 'processing' when you have V4A turned on and video/music playing?
Sorry if that appears as a noob question, I'm only asking as you said you have never used V4A before so it could be something that was missed?
Cheers

No, no.....that is actually a Great question....really it's the logical 1st question.
After that comes what output are you using? i.e. Bluetooth or Wired...
In the viper app are you on the tab corresponding to the output you're using?
Then be sure to Enable the 1st setting on that tab to turn on processing (can't remember terminology)
Then fiddle with the settings you wish to manipulate and see now if you can hear the processing.
Also not all apps will work with processing....i always used poweramp to get processing.
Also in phone settings set 'soundalive' to 'normal' (no processing) and if you use poweramp in the settings disable the 'DVC' setting then you should be set.
Good luck...... hope to get root someday so i can run viper myself. (snapdragon)
Yeah, it's enabled—it is working actually, I've determined by playing with it. I've installed the one from OP and it works, prior to that I was testing the one from the Magisk repo and it wasn't functional.
Just the effect is different, like you say, per app. In one game for example it's massive. In Spotify OTOH it's minimal, still some between the minimum gain setting and maximum, just nothing exceptional.
