Hi, does anyone know how to make TomTOm Navigator working on HD2 with WP7? It is in a SD card, but I cannot find it and do know how pin it to the start after falshing WP7.
Old apps don't work on winphone7. And there isn't a TomTom app yet for it.

Dude its a completley different OS, Its like trying to run a Android App on and iPhone.
Im sure tomtom will release a new version soon for wp7.
Just a case of wait & see.
You can use navigon on wp7.
If you search on here or google you will find out how to do it.
TOMTOM on WP7
I am working on to convert win 6.5 apps to wP 7 not all but some can be done as they use some sort of same platform.specially TOMTOM.. hopefully very soon i will post that finding,,,trying without sleep....
It is highly unlikely that TomTom will release a WP7 version. They bumped heads with MS regarding some patents and decided that they would not continue developing for MS platforms. You should be able to google this up. It was around a year or so.
Kudos
I'm just waiting for CoPilot to come out. Surely that's gotta be brought over. If not guess I'm gonna have to go back to either Nandroid or WM6.5...

I never really had any issues with Vista but from what i've played with in Windows 7 it's fantastic.

I suspect we'll at the very least see the Diamond, Touch Pro and maybe the Blackstone (depending if the guys at MS have one I guess), I'm also not seeing any PPC powered devices on this list so they could still be seperate?
Do you know if this includes devices connected via a network share? On one of my networks I have a brother MFC that's connected to one of my switches and it's a bit of a PITA to manage.
windows 7 x64 rocks
i really like the new interface of windows 7 especially the new task bar....and its works like a charm....

I dont mate sorry
I just downloaded it finally but will try it when I get home close to my restoral CD's. I am interesting in the newer device center. Other than that my major questions were pertaining to games and graphics. We all know how the majority of us got jacked over with Vista when it was released with KNOWN graphics problems. If Microsoft ignores the gaming community they will find that many loyal fans who have not left yet will go towards Linux or Apple. I have always loved Linux over MS anyway but have gained a newer resect for apple.... Well kind of.
Bogus
Original post indicates it is win mob 7. WRONG!!!
It is actually Windows 7 OS beta release which is probably what Vista should have been.
4 days of 7 x64...it's amazing. About Device Stage, I think there was something on MSDN about that. I'll go dig it up, I guess. In the end, it's all XML and *should* be pretty easy to do.
I've been running Win7 x64 since Sunday with no issues whatsoever. So far, I love it. It's great. The redesigned taskbar is very intuitive and easy to use. I love the new network manager applet; it behaves like network-manager in Linux. That is, a single click shows a menu-style list of available networks, and another click will get you connected. Win7 also (finally) includes native support for burning ISO images, which makes me thrilled.
I'm not so thrilled that it inherited UAC (running UAC is like always wearing a condom in case you trip, slip, and fall on a prostitute in the shady back room of a hotel in a bad neighborhood), but it's at least got better controls for it via msconfig. Still, I straight-up disable that crap.
Also, the Action Center does a great job alerting the user about potential hardware issues, and it gave me direct download links for getting the proper drivers for my HP dv6700 notebook's card and fingerprint readers.
Additionally, it seems much snappier than Vista. I'm sure that will change in the final release, especially once OEMs get to bog it down with their bloatware, but it's nice for now.
Only complaint is that Chrome won't run on Win7
Other than that, way to go MS!
I've had Win 7 of my laptop for a few months, the only issue I have is it doesn't really work when browsing my network.
I installed the leaked build 6801 back then, since the public release I ran windows update and nothing happened. Does that mean I need to clean install the new release?
I´ll wait for a stable version, just geting used to vista and I´m not an expert so I prefer to wait a few months

It is EXTREMELY stable. I haven't been able to crash it yet, and believe me, I've been trying.
And it dual (or triple, in my case) boots quite well, so you've got nothing to lose if you want to give it a 20GB partition just to play with it. The current licenses are only good til 1 August anyway, so I'm not looking to use it as a permanent solution.
And it's really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, easy to use. So dive in

Yes, Windows 7 was the correct title of the thread but I did catch that I states windows 7 mobile in opening thread box. Sorry about that everyone. I was rading articles on Windows Mobile 7 and looking at Windows 7 at the same time. I have high expectations for both. I will be installing Windows 7 tonight and I will let you know how it runs on my laptop. Hopefully it better manages video memory than Vista does...

crome doesn't (I don't use it though, because their security is abysmal it's on the same level as safari on windows. but to every man his own) but it does work, you have to run the exe with a certain argument. search at live.com or google.com to find it. I saw it today in my RSS reader.
I'll try to find it for you.

I didn't check to see if this was in Vista but I just seen in 7 that I can set my background to change in intervals. I set my windows color to clear, so when my backgournd changes its like the window color changes too. I'm gonna check if its in Vista.
I would like to know what Application do you use for Navigation (but not Google Maps). I'm not sure does the Navigon has app for Android phone or Tom Tom.
I used navigon and works Perfect in the Hero, you need to have in your SD card minimum 2 Gigabytes free, try the Demo that is in the google market.
Copilot seems to work flawlessly for me ?
Should I root the Hero to see the paid apps on the Android Market? If i should what rom is the best for Hero? I downloaded some Modaco's 3.2 rom but couldn't install it...
you'll need to root the phone to run a custom rom, follow the many guides on here, then you can install the modaco rom, as said though for sat nav, copilot is probably the best out there.
I rooted and installed a modaco 3.2 rom . but still can't see paid apps on the market?

I installed market enabler but still can't see paid apps? should I set smth on the program?
I see now paid apps on the market with the Market Enabler. But just need free space for the Navigon.... got to buy SD card with more space ...
as i can see comments the Copilot crashes often, i see good comments about Navigon.

We cannot discuss that here! So don't ask!
Copilot is really cheap! I have used it on Iphone and WM, found it slow on Iphone and crashed on a HTC HD2 a lot. So I have stayed away from it on Android.
I use Navigon and it is great.
I use Sygic Mobile Maps, which is very good. You can't buy it in the Market - either download from their site or buy a retail version from Teleatlas.
I have heard a lot of bad reports about Copilot's support. I suggest you have a read of the forums on this site
I think for my country the best one is Navigon. But first I need Sd card with more space at least 4gb,(need to create again a goldcard on the new Sd card .... )got to buy the license for the Navigon ... I still haven't unlocked the phone yet kinda don't believe those sites who sell the codes ...
I see now why Android makes you a hard developer ....
I just thought I'd stick up for CoPilot, I have been using it since before christmas on many ROM's (including 1.5, 1.6 and 2.1 both sense and vanilla) and I have never once had a single crash or freeze with it. Works perfectly, would recommend it it highly

sorry but this really really annoys me. People put a lot of work and effort into making apps for phones like ours and prices are mainly cheap. If everyone started hacking apps all the time then prices would rise or in extreme cases dev's would just stop making apps altogether (less so when its a big company making it).
You should respect both the dev's copyright as well as the rules of this forum.
i like Igo Myway. Has 3d & turn by turn. Plus instead of a car you can have a bloke on a bike, a tank or a boy on a magic carpet.
+1 for iGo Myway! I love it.
Another vote for IGo
IGo seems to be the best one available so far. I tried CoPilot but it has issues with the routing it chooses, although I had fastest route selected, it sometimes routed me through small roads when I had the motorway available. Other than that it worked fine. Tried Navigon, it works fine but I don't like the fact that it doesn't display enough information like speed, distance to destination, time left to travel (or I couldn't find how to do it?) but my favorite so far is IGo.
Hi - I just purchased a HD7, have a Android phone (HD2) and Blackberry Bold, but wanted to know if there is anything working for wifi calling.
I know this does not have UMA, but wifi calling like Skype or Google Voice?
The marketplace in Windows 7 I don't like because I don't think I see a sort feature by like 'free' vs 'paid' , etc.
I don't see Skype, see some 3rd party Google Voice stuff with bad reviews and don't see Google Maps.
The TeleNav on the phone from T-mobile requires a monthly subscription which i don't want.
Anyone know apps/etc. that are out there that would suit what I'm looking for here.
Thanks
the best free app I've found for navigation is "xMaps". It's pretty clunky and seems to lack turn-by-turn navigation but at least it works as a basic map. There might be something better availble as far as paid apps go, but I never venture into the paid apps section becase I'm cheap
I hope the app selection gets better with time and that T-Mobile finally rolls out that damned NoDo update!
EDIT: Also, there is a way to sort the list between Free and Paid apps. When you've selected the category of apps you want and the list has been populated, swipe the screen to the left 3 times until you reach the "Free" section.
I've just got an Hd7, 16gb. At first i thought this looks good but is absolute rubbish after my HTC touch pro 2-- can't sync with my PC, can't have TomTom, can't have Google Maps, can't have Opera or Skyfire or Firefox, can't have BBC iPlayer, can't have PDF reader or Flashplayer. I've found you can sync it rather awkwardly via windows live and skydrive. Why do they want to make life more difficult?
I believe the features you mention that are lacking are to come in future updates.
Remember... as far as OS goes, WP7 is just a baby learning to walk. I had to wait for flash on my Galaxy S from the froyo update and iPhone will NEVER have it so as far as those features go... hold your horses. Lol...
I love my android and I am really liking my hd7 as well for different reasons. Once the updates start to come you will be pleasently surprised I believe.
PS... you can sync the phone via PC through Zune. Download the software and follow the instructions...

90% of the things you list are third party applications. It isn't that WP7 CAN'T have them, it's just that at less than 6 months old, it DOESN'T have them... yet.
Did you actually LOOK for Adobe Reader? Cause it's there in the marketplace and has been forever.

I like your optimism but the facts are a bit more complex than that; the marketplace is available only in 20 countries (roughly 10% of the total) and this is a very serious issue.
Take iGO 8 for instance, it was developed by the Hungarians, do you honestly believe they will commit resources to port their brilliant software to a platform not even available in their native country?
I want to have a state of the art OS but WP7 is so crippled that is no match for the competition.
I still hope for a better future for my HD7 but when? When?
Yes Garmin Street Pilot for the USA/Canada only now available in the Market Place.

2.99.. I guess I can only try it..

Cause it's Microsoft. Bought it anyway
It's $2.99, which isn't bad compared to most xbox live games. True it is free on Android (with ads), but I'm fine with the price. Hopefully we get all the add ons & extra levels without having to pay more though. But I haven't been able to stop playing it since I got it, lol. Love having live achievements too.

same problem.
I had that problem for a couple tries, but was due to it being plugged into my xbox to charge. Once I unplugged, no problems.
Were you trying to play it while syncing/charging to your pc? Might be the problem.
nope... no matter what - it starts, screen goes black, then exits.....
I tried it out.. it's fine, although it doesn't seem as smooth and multitouch doesn't work?
works with hd20 1.14, try that rom
I tried it & its not as fluid as on any Android or WM6.5, plus pinch to zoom is hap-hazard.
Maybe its WP7 thats monging? Unless it works great on a true WP7.
If you're using WP7 on HD2, you should know that the multitouch is bugged, no matter in whatever application, from browser to Angry Birds. So I don't think it's Angry Birds' problem, should be because the issue with multitouch in HD2 WP7 is not fixed yet.

Can I use the Garmin Street Pilot GPS for Windows Phone 7 without 3G/Edge ?
Hi:
I am kind of regret that I got the HTC Windows 7 phone. Now I can't use any of the old apps like spacetime, tomtom from my windows 6.5 mobile since I won't be able to install the cabs on the Windows 7 phone. This sucks so bad. How could Microsoft do this?
I see that Garmin came out with a Garmin Streetpilot GPS in the market place for $38.99.
I don't want to buy it until I know what I am buying.
Will I be able to use the Garmin Streetpilot GSPS on my HtC surround 7 phone if I don't have 3G/Edge? I don't want to pay $50 for a data plan every month.
Can I download the maps and everything else via wifi and GPS will work on the road since I can't connect to the internet on the road with wifi?
Thanks

Well we all are having few difficulties and wish list for after mango.
So if we add them here again in one place then DFT people can actually know whats the best thing people need badly right now.
for me these few are missing badly:
1) a full features google maps.
2)skype (for godsake atleast an app? IM just sucks after mango!)
3)wireless keyboard( bluetooth )
4) connect my laptop and phone via ad hoc network
5)find on page in IE9.
6)flash ( i dont think its gonna come)
7)a full features android i know is gonna come soon after awesome work of DFT guys but yet a time frame can be much more helpful.
8)If there are a bunch of developers want to make some windows phone games then let me know i am thinking to heed in that direction.
9)connect phone via HDMI cable to any Television screen ( i am on HD7)
i want outlook offline sync like with winmo 6.5

hummm let me tell you why.
On the hardware part HD2 AND HD7 are similar but still there are some features and a kickass stand which makes HD7 a better choice.
WP7 is damn good but at the end its a new OS so it still lacks some of the basic features like skype and flash which are easily available in android.
so if you have the freedom to dual boot it the WP7 can work as primary and whenever you are going to get some things off the shelf you can switch to Android.
Build quality of HD2 is not upto the mark compared to the HD7.
So tell me one reason why android should not be there in a WP7 phone?

Android should not be on a WP7 phone as its a windows phone, if you want an android phone, just go and buy one, get a case with a kick stand on it and jobs done.
on another not, the google maps thing you mentioned, thats not down to microsoft, thats down to google not providing it. once again you could just get an android phone and be done with it.
I got both and have both as each have advantages over each other. my sim is generally in my android at the moment as it seems more logical, i can tether it to my windows phone and play my xbl games and download music and do what i want with my windows phone. and for the rare instances that i actually make a phone call, use my android handset.
oh and build quality, much better on hd2, made out of metal body rather than plastic, and better buttons too. not that the hd7 isnt bad but the hd2 was one of the best ive seen for a long time

to my knowledge you are using an HD2 with android build.
You are against porting android on a WP7 phone but at the end you are using android on a windows mobile.
if you wanted android why did you buy HD2 in the first place?
i think now you get my point that its always better to have choices.
See i dint start this thread for this android battle as i mentioned i started so that DFT guys know whats hot and they can work on that in the first place in their custom ROMs.
So if you want me to say android shouldnt be there OK YOU WIN!! but atleast stick to the topic.

Since when are skype/flash support basic features of any phone?
whats the point of a smartphone if it cannot give me one complete on the Go web experience?
For current scenario Flash atleast for next few years is necessary for uninterrupted web experience.
and skype is ofcourse gonna be a basic function!
you not discussing about the 10$ phones so obviously you CANNOT list calculator and making call as basic function!!
and seems one controversy ends and the other starts!
I mentioned earlier this thread was started with intention to help DFT team to help understand user needs not to fight.
if you still wanna go on then send me a message and we fight on it instead of here.

1] They seem to have made serious improvements on the Bing Maps so hopefully it will improve more and more once they integrate it with Nokia Maps or so I have heard.
2] Skype is definitely coming to WP7
Facebook built in Chat in Messaging App is super brilliant and so is local scout.
To be honest I can't decide whether to use my HD7 or SGS2 .. I seem to keep flipin between them all the time.
The only reason I favour the SGS2 is cause of the better camera and googleplus and of course the apps
Other not sure But I for one will definitely getting a Nokia Phone, cause I am sure Nokia Phones will Rock

2. You do know that Microsoft owns Skype? Skype will be on Windows Phone. Oh, IM on mango is excellent.
