[Q] Bootanimation does not work - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Hey there, I tried to desing a splashscreen and a bootanimation last weekend.
The splash works fine but I can't get the animation to work.
I nearly tried everthing: 8 and 24 bit depth, jpgs and png, one ore more folder,...
At first the animation was way to big (more than 9mb). After i figured out this wont work I tried to use jpgs (.zip <900kb) still didn't work.
Now I tried again with more compressed png (zip is 1,9mb). I read that the size has to be below 3mb, what I managed now. But it still doesn't work. Could some1 take a look at my animation please?
(Other animations work, so it is not my method of putting it on the device )
Thanks, Mav.

i have a few ideas
1) the images that make up the boot animation must be .png
2) when you package up the .zip, make sure you only use the store option (with winrar) or with no compression, any compression and the .zip wont work,

Thank you very much! It works now! I haven't used a non compressed .zip.

[How To] Replace Shutdown Animation

..
..
Heres one I did. It's animated but it goes so fast you practically miss it anyway...
Couldn't get a gif preview up.
I got a few more I made but I wanted to share this one. A good universal shutdown sequence.
Also just for reference, it seems the png's can so far be anything under a png 24.
I love the Android Scribble boot animations that GLa'DOS put together here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
I decided to create an "un-scribble" shutdown animation which is basically his work in reverse. I had to cut several "frames" to get it down to 26 images but it looks pretty good. It's attached as Scribble_shutdown.zip.

Here is an i, robot shutdown sequence i made. I wish the picture was a little clear but it works.
Can i use the same animation for the Shotdown as for the Startsup?
I mean that both 26 png's
Would be nice to know that
Thank God for custom shutdown animations. Oh if anyone is looking for tutorial on how to do it check: http://www.phonebuff.com/2011/06/change-shutdown-animation-for-android/

The newest ROMs do not use this file format. They are utilizing the *.qmg files - not hackable. If you roll back to Froyo or Eclair you can use this type of shutdown.
I have a problem

[Q] Boot Animation Help

Anyone out there want to take a look at this boot animation? I've tried all I can think of to get it to work but all I ever get is a black screen. I'd appreciate the help.

did you compress the zip file? You can't use compression on it, otherwise it will not be loaded, as the zip is supposed to act as a container only. If using 7zip, there's an option for "store" as the compression type. Use that.
No I did not compress the file. I selected the use the archive as storage with no compression. Like I said I have tried everything I can think of.
There is something about the pngs that is unknown as of yet. I created an image sequence from an avi with virtualdub and it worked fine. The image sequence I made with Rhino 3d does not. Same amount of frames, same desc.txt, same compression program (7-zip), relatively same filesize.
Make sure you're using a text editor that supports ANSI/UNIX save mode correctly. Notepad++ is good and free. And of course, the afforementioned 0 compression/store zip file. WinRAR did not work for me, but 7-zip did.
If I use 7Zip to create a 'store' file, can I just change the filename from a .7z file to a .zip file?
[edit] Looks like I can just make a zip file with 7zip
Gotta ask, what are the 'presets' in the part0 folder? I'm pretty sure that wasn't helping it work any...
So, there are a lot of guides on this subject and all of them have said that the images, regardless of folder, have to be incremental. So, frames 0(or 1) to 99 from part0 have to continue in part1 starting at 100.
I ran all the images through a PNG optimizer to shrink them after renaming all of part1 and gave it a shot. It does work now, but 800x480 images are rather slow to display I guess, or the framerate was low. I did not get to see the whole animation play due to fast booting on custom ROMs, but it started part1 before my homescreen came up.
Take a look
I have also tried almost everything, I just want the motorola Atrix boot animation to run on mine, I tried flashing a zip that was supposed to work, it didnt, I tried getting all of the files and making a non compressed zip and replacing it with root explorer, and that didnt work either. im about ready to give up, seemed like such a simple task.

I downloaded the dumped one. After messing with the files for hours, I just slapped it in and watched as it worked, despite being for a different resolution. I just ADB'd it to /system/media.

Boot animation help

Hi guys
I'm trying to make a boot animation. I took the original CM7 animation and replaced the files but it doesn't work. Can anyone make this for me or tell me where i went wrong?
Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623960
I created your bootanimation, but I don't know what the screen size of your device and I do not know the fps you want, then configure it to your taste.
SWEET! Thanks dude. I figured out my problem. If I dragged and dropped my edited files it wouldn't work. If I open up the archive and edited it , it works. Probably has to do with the compression

[BootAnimation] CM10 Download

Hello,
Ive compiled a download for CM10 bootanimation (the image/animation you get when you start your phone up)
Simply download this zip file and use the Root explorer of your choice to place this file in System/Media
then set its permissions to
Owner= Read + Write
Group= Read
Other= Read
Restart your phone and enjoy
Note: The Image doesn't fit exactly, ive tried resizing it to the correct format but the image is distorted,
this zip file contains an image 320 pixels by 320, however the black background matches the screen and so its unlikely you will
notice the image doesn't fit exactly
P.S ive also uploaded a full CM9 animation that does fit perfectly (320x480)
just use instructions above to "install" :laugh:
CM10 = http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jnpdap5ez88cw5d :good:
CM9= http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uy1hs4c5yw25yja :good:
I do not claim ownership of any of these Bootanimation my only credits are
1. Resizing the CM9 Animation
2. Uploading them both to mediafire so that other may use them
Nice job! AS for me, it works perfectly!

CanĀ“t get my own custom bootanimation work

Hi to all
I want to create some bootanimations converting gif images to mp4 files, I replace it in /system/media/; 0644 permissions but nothing works. This zip attached was extracted out of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/themes-apps/boot-logo-animation-fall-motorola-t2899194
I just replace both mp4 videos and no success. Could anyone test it and tell me what am I doing wrong? Or tell me how to properly create a decent bootanimation for moto g 2014 xt1064?
Salu2.
i dont think you need to convert it into video to make it work .
The guide for making boot animation is given here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068
More over just try by creating bootanimation.zip with store as compression mode
Visit bhoot.co.uk. there you can submit your .gif and get a flashable zip for your boot animation!
thank yo for both answers, this zip actually works as a flashable one, I just wanted to use mp4 file instead of png frames since Motorola used the first file for its stock bootanimations (I think for quality reasons), @benmathews gave me a clue for my mistake that was on compression method, I used store and it work flawless. Thanks 2 both men
