The speedmod kernel has EXT4 in it. You just need to go into CWM recovery and activate it from the lag fix setting.

thanks for your help

I am not suggesting you do it but you should be able to do a kernel away with Odin
Captivate
Cog 2.2
i guess the better question is how would you do this with odin. what section does the .TAR file go to. Phone? seems that i only understand the ROM flashing part with odin.

look in the development section, voodoo is for your phone. you just download it and flash thru ODIN/CWM thats all there is to it.

Stock JVK with custom Kernel?

Hello Together,
When i Flash Stock JVK with Odin i cannot use a custom kernel.
Example speedmod-kernel-k13d / k13c
Then comes only the I9000 logo and nothing after
So i can only install the Stock JVK with Odin...
It is a known problem?
regards Roger
OMG....
Speedmod is for Froyo
Maybe you should have to read some Threads about JVK

But in the Miui 2.3.3 thread is also the instruction for the speedmod-kernel-k13d / k13c....
With witch kernel must i then flash?
Thanks for the reply

The speedmod use for that is just to get into cwm to flash the cm7 initial tar. Suggest that you read the post in its entirety, not stopped when you see speedmod being mentioned.

You propably didn't read the MIUI thread...
Speedmod Kernel ist just to have CWM. You have to flash CM7 Kernel while installing it.
You can either use CF 2.4 kernel or Supercurios hacked JVK kernel.
Or stay at the stock kernel.
the only custom kernel for XWJVK with cwm and ext4 lagfix is this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665&order=desc&page=2
download tar and flash with odin
Try DamianGTO Kernel for Gingerbread

CF-ROOT KERNEL VS VOODOO KERNEL . Gingerbread.

Hey . what kernel is best of this? cf root 3.2 ? or the voodoo ext4 kernel.
JVH ROM .
Instant reply !
VOODOO (Gingerbread-GT-I9000-XWJVH-stock-kernel+hacks.tar dated 08-May-2011)
Awesomeness
eDiT: typo
does the voodoo kernel you've mentioned (Gingerbread-GT-I9000-XWJVH-stock-kernel+hacks.tar dated 08-May-2011) come with a lagfix for JVH?

Yes it converts data to ext4
CF-Root 3.2 I think is more stable and faster
Cf-3.2 is very fast and very stable. Not s single fc since installed! cwm +tweaks + ext 4. Quadrant 2100+
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
cwm + tweaks + ext4 + voodoo control plus

Voodoo over CF-Root
Can I install voodoo kernel (XXJVP) after my phone (SGS) was CF-rooted (v3.7)? Can I solve this without factory reset? I had backed up and restored all of my data before, but I'd like to try out voodoo kernel with ext4 filesystem convert, without dataloss.
It would be important, so somebody please help me!
Thx,

I think you should flash the stock JVH first.
Using JVP (2.3.4) I had bluetooth issue with CF-Root, none so far with SpeedMod.
GPS was also not so goot with CF-Root, I'm gonna see tonight with SpeedMod
Has anyone done a quantitative comparison of battery life with different kernels?
I think every kernel has his own good and bad parameters so the difference between kernels depends of what apps do u use and what do u want from kernel...
So for someone it is Voodoo! For another one it's CF-Root and so on !!!

Go to app drawer and try to find ext4 tools. use it.
What version of speedmod are you using?
Some post said that it may be just suitable for 2.3.3 to 2.3.4
