Which rom has stable and longlife battery? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which rom has stable and longlife battery?
Cause of my friend just take first smartphone captivate ( She is older and low tech )
I try serveral roms but does not get a stable rom. Hope sombody will help me

The Darky ROM has been very stable for me. You can find the page for it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429
It is still being updated on a semi regular basis. The battery life is better than normal too.

I really think battery life has to do with the kernal. I might be wrong but I think you should look for specific kernals and use them.
And I think most roms are stable. you can try cognition. Assonance. Darky
I personally like darky the best so try it out!

Yep, the kernel has the largest part to do with battery life, but it's not the only thing.
If you're into tweaking, I recommend glitterballs' kernel, steam or regular. Undervolt and disable overclocking and you'll get utterly ridiculous battery life. 69% battery life currently with over 21 hours of uptime and moderate usage.
As for a rom, I'd recommend Serendipity, or if you don't mind the Samsung glass lockscreen Cognition 3.0x seems like it has a lot of promise (though I haven't tried it myself as I hate that lockscreen).

I have flashed many roms, and ive noticed the biggest diff. in battery life is definitely with the kernel, i am running docs rom 7.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882397 that i cooked in the kitchen. with Hardcores speed mod kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893880 and androidena theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770507. I have went thru many updates with hardcore's kernel, he updates quite often and docs rom is updated quited often also, and seems to be one of the better rom's and the dev. he is always there to answer any questions. Now to the point i have went to full cycles with my battery fully charged and ran to dead, i have sceen shots of both cycles. First batt cycle i went 1day 6hrs from last plugged in. 2 hours of screen on. 20 min of voice calls. the next cycle i went 1 day 5 hrs with 13% left, with roughly the same screen on time. I have never found anything better than this, so i'm staying with this combination, and update the kernels reg. and question pm me if you'd like.

thx so can you introduce which kernel have long life battery

I mainly flash with Cognition or darkys ROMs. I've found that darkys gives me both better battery life AND a more stable experience.

I would use hardcore speedmod kernel. Link is in my last post. 500 hz cwm I'd what I chose to install thru recovery.

Terrible battery live on cyanogen

Since I rooted I've been getting horrid battery life. I used my phone for 10 minutes today texting and the battery life's consumed 7%. This is not good.
Check in your sync to make sure your calendar or contacts ect. aren't stuck trying to sync. This happened to me, and phone was dying in a matter of a few hours.
Mine is like that too I was thinking about switching to Another since I hear that Rom gets better battery life.
There are several existing battery threads. You should ask questions in there.
Hardly used my phone for 40 minutes today and down to half battery life. Can't somebody throw me a bone here?
You could try flashing one of the undervolted kernels from IntersectR or Diet. I noticed it helped a fair bit on the Cyanogen rom. Another option could be to switch to the Enom 1.8.1 rom. I'm currently running the Enom rom with IntersectR hybrid kernel and get fairly good battery life.
I had this too, flash any other kernel and it seems to fix itself. Intersects is a good call.

Same here, man
I flashed this kernel:
OC/UV kernel + HTC_Camera Addon for 1.8.1
and this rom:
TheOfficial_Nexus1_v1.8.1_update.zip
from this thread:

Is that the kernel that's being praised for having good battery life?

I'm running this combo, and I get 10x better battery life than on Cyanogen's!
Good to hear. Ill report back with my findings after a few days useage!
I was having battery troubles, but I just charged my phone fully then wiped the battery stats in recovery and have had great improvement.
Is there such thing as a desire ROM that has good battery life for the N1?
sorry, Cyano506 has great battery live... you must be doing something wrong..
yeah I must of installed a cyanogen from a different person...
....hey--wait a minute...
Battery CM 506
..this is not too bad for 506...
Thats what I am using now with the addition of juice defender free which gave me a small but noticeable boost in battery life. These things together gave me the juice to make it through the day without scrimping on my usage, before I had to either scrimp or charge during the day to make it.

well damn. I am currently looking for a new kernel. What are u running? I have a kernel from late January. From what I hear there are several good ones out there with better battery life. I am running 5.0.6 also
I don't understand. Look:
I've hardly even used it :S
since I posted that picture I haven't touched my phone, and here's the difference:

Is there any custom ROM out that doesn't eat away your battery in two hours?

I had to come back to the custom rom world as I tire of the boring theme layout on froyo. I'm staying FAR away from Darkys rom because it does my battery wicked. I went with Jim's rom and although it is better with battery life, it still drains.
Can anyone recommend a rom that is simple yet closer to stock battery life? It doesn't have to have a million features, just something that will allow me to change the theme.
I'm on 2.2.1 xxjpy Froyo. Any suggestions??

Try one of the 'slim' ROMs, such as Insanity's. Removes a ton of the nevessary apps.
You won't get too much more out of the battery. Most roms eats the same juice while you're playing browsing, etc. The only difference is on idle battery drain. I use my phone on max. brightness since I bought it, and display uses min. 80% of the battery.
I'm using doc's customer ROM from kitchen with lagfix, and I usually charge battery once a day.
Thanks for your replies guys. I shall try out another rom until i find one that is manageable for my daily use

If you think stock is better on battery why dont you just download a stock Deodexed rom from Here and just install what ever theme you want.
I'm staying FAR away from Darkys rom because it does my battery wicked.
If you been on a deadly rom then it needs a complete wipe from phone battery stats reset and it will take the new rom a couple of weeks to sort itself out battery wise . Multiple problem posts on his rom litter this board .

I have good experience with criskelo's rom, but at the same time use a SuperPower application first of all for quick switching between 2g and 3g, saves a lot of battery.

questions about roms

im looking for a new rom i want something thats good on the battery like paragon. but when i run paragon my speaker goes out (i have tried it twice now) i tried firefly but the battery was awful on it but speaker never went out. so im looking for something new with a good battery and isnt to laggy and simple.
Give Apex 5.1 (formerly Twingerbread)a try. I get great battery life, has a great modem, and its really quick and responsive. Then I swapped the Speedmod kernel for Suckerpunch-Voodoo #11. I ran about a 1680 quadrant, 14.25 linpack ten minutes after install.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Try Serendipity 6.3! It's got fantastic, minimalistic Gingerbread theming, and it's really fast. Plus, I get at least 2 days of battery life on it with moderate use.
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900568
I'm gonna second the suggestion for Serendipity 6.3, although I'll also mention that just because someone gets good battery life on a ROM doesn't mean you will. Everyone uses their phone differently. What may be moderate use to one person may be heavy usage to another and light usage to another. So I state above all else, your mileage WILL vary!
i understand about the milage i started using continuum im liking it so far. ill give the others a try after a week or so maybe.
Just flashed to serendipity 6.3 this morning, i would recommend it for sure. I browse the web for 12 or so hours at a time and my battery life has been greatly extended compared to the leaked stock froyo. Everything loads much faster as well

best rom/kernel for battery life/stability?

fiancees captivate is currently running cm7.1 rc1, with whatever kernel was required to be used from the old 7.0 nightlies.
battery life sucks, maybe 12 hours with light usage and its <15% left.
id prefer to stay away from touchwiz if possible. what rom or kernel, or combination of the two would give the best battery life/stability. I really dont want to mess with OC/UV. I was suggested the glitch kernel with cm7 but dont know if i have to mess with OC/UV to get the best battery life. any help is appreciated, she is tired of her phone dying early in the evening.
All depends on the person. ROMs usually don't drain battery. The biggest battery drainer is the modem, then kernel. Go try Serendipity VII.
I used Cog 5 for a long while and was getting good battery life.

best gingerbread rom and kernel with great perfomance and battery life?

please share
is there any custom gingerbread rom with bloatware removed and big free ram? and a kernel with OC/UV? plus great game compability?
how about MIUI?
Have yet to find one to best DjangoMouche 1.2.1 its GB 2.3.4 its customized, with different themes to choose from and a good bunch of performance tweaks. everything has been running smooth.
games run well, things load fast
I'm using Gueste overclock v1.8.1 kernel but thats up to choice. i found it works great between 900 - 1300mhz. but above that its rebooted on me a few times.
You could try Temasek's CM7 Rom with it's own kernel, it has OC/UV and all that things.. Run's pretty smooth and stable but i can recommend you to use GO Launcher EX with an ICS Theme :good:

I agree that DJ is one of the best ROMs...no doubt
but could i ask you why DJ 1.2.1 and not the DJ 1.5RC1....I am using the latest and it is more than a magical dream....out of the stars and heaven....I am curious why you are with an older version....

+1
Currently on DJ 1.5RC1 and have to say it is truly magical. The feel of performance, smoothness and speed is just incredible.Always try to experiment with other GB roms and always drawn back to DJ ROM.DJ roms provide many choices according to our needs and customization as we like with transformation packs. So have to say this is the best choice i will ever have:cyclops:
Same here, Django Manouche, currently 1.5 RC1, but I am using latest spica kernel ;-)
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2
Hi, this is my first post here. I have been flashing various roms and a few basebands and rils in my quest to get better battery life from my LG Optimus 2x. In the end. Most of what I have done is experimental and I can not say I understand much about versions and combinations. Last night, I read quite a few posts about the Django Manouche rom and downloaded all the three versions of the 1.6, the stock, the Spica and the Gueste.
Flashing led to boot looping on the Spica rom, powering off on the Gueste rom while on the stock 1.6s it ran OK, with some applications not running until I rebooted.
I came from a stock LG rom and was wondering if I need to change the baseband and kernel also, for these to work.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
I think these "best rom" threads are forbidden but I'll give my 2 cents anyway, in case I'm wrong:
for me the best rom is Gueste Hybrid revolutions 3.7, is a hybrid between stock Rom and cm7.2, and symbiosis kernel 1.3.
I get great performance, great battery life, great ram management. I can't really complain, I'm so satisfied that I'm not that eager to get ICS (at least not as much as I was before).
LG optimus 2x, rom Gueste Hybrid 3.7
@daas88. Taking your advice, I have flashed the same combination as you, just this morning. I have been very active on the phone since then, so I can't tell right away, if there is any improvement in battery life.
By the way, I continue to be on the 20i baseband.
I shall report back soon.
Temasek
Probably the cleanest install would be Temasek. A very stable CM7 build. It's sort of finished, and offers a great experience. Use it with Temasek's, Spica's or symbi0sis kernel.
I've tried DM and it's great, but this just feels cleaner.
gl!
I have been reading about the Temasek rom. What is your view on its battery consumption? That is something I am focussing on. The stock LG set up lasts for about 9-11 hours on my phone, with full 3G, about 4 hours of wifi usage and about 1-2 hour of music (Neutron music player). I have a battery pack that I carry with me to work, but it is a big bother.
So, basically, to me battery life is top priority. If I can extend it to 12-15 hours, I am home and dry.
I've used Temasek for a long period of time, and though I don't want to go back to gingerbread (currently on Paranoid Android) I do miss the battery life. With Temasek (or stock CM7) I would get about 32 hours of battery life: a day and a night. This with some browsing, playing music checking e-mail.
Overclocking would lose you some of that time, but the toggle2g app would win it back. :good:

Increased CPU performance, larger screen and stagnated battery technology will do this
As for battery life, I do miss my Nokia 3210!
A small update. I charged my phone to 100% yesterday evening at 7 PM. From then on till now, what I observe is that with the phone in standby mode, the battery consumption curve remains almost flat. But the moment I start using some apps, for instance the Number links game for 15-20 minutes, the battery level drops by 10%.
This is with the Gueste Hybrid ROM and the Symbiosis kernel.
Further update: The battery went to 14% and then I charged it. 15 hours. Some improvement. It may be too early to comment, but this set up seems to work superbly when the phone is on standby. When the phone is in use, the consumption seems to be high. Could it be improved by changing the BB or the ril?
