Hi.
Lots of people seem to be having issues when trying to downgrade their Wildfire from a carrier-branded version (HBOOT 1.01.0002) to unbranded WWE (HBOOT 1.01.0001).
I made a small package to help you do this.
http://www.mediafire.com/?adny69lbvzbs1yg
Extract this package somewhere you can find it, like C:\buzzdowngrade
Step 1: run step1.bat from the package. This will downgrade your MISC partition to allow for the RUU downgrade.
At the end, GoldCardTool will start up, to allow you to create a goldcard which you will need before starting Step 2.
After you've made the goldcard, and inserted it, continue with step 2.
Step 2: run step2.bat from the package. This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If you get a Customer ID error while doing this, your goldcard is not working!
Create a new goldcard and re-run step2.
Thanks You Sir
Branded UK Vodafone HBOOT 1.01.0002 to unbranded WWE HBOOT 1.01.0001, ran AlpharevX again and im now S-Off

Format your SD card, generate a goldcard image online (sorry, can't remember right now, should be floating around the forum), use DD to "flash" it to the raw SD card device (/dev/sde or something like this, do "sudo fdisk -l" to find out exactly). MAKE SURE YOU USE THE RIGHT DEVICE. If not, you can easily overwrite the bootloader and/or partition table. Both are annoying, but fixable as long as you have some kind of Live CD around.
Since the RUU is Windows-only, get the script called OpenRUU. It should be around this forum. Follow the instructions to extract rom.zip out of the RUU and debrand.
Worked Effortlessly..
Vodafone 0002 Down to 0001 and S-OFF'ed
Install Clockwork and CM7 tomorrow =)
Thanks a bunch for this.

INTRODUCTION
It seems that a lot of Canadians are having this problem, so I decided to make a guide on how to bypass it. For my guide on flashing RUUs on the Canadian IS, click here.
THE PROBLEM
People with a Canadian Incredible S are continually getting the "Model ID Incorrect" error. This error occurs because the Canadian IS has the model ID PG3212000 while it seems every other IS has the ID PG3213000, which is blocking us from installing it... But luckily there is a way to fix this error.
THE SOLUTION
NOTE: It seems many people are having problems. After reflashing my phone and S-OFF'ing it again I had the same problem. Turns out ENG S-OFF is needed for this! Find out how to install it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070348
To install a PG3213000(Any non-Canadian Incredible S) radio on a PG3212000(a Canadian Incredible S) follow these instructions:
1. go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12870734&postcount=1 and download whichever radio matches your rom...
2. extract the file you just downloaded and open up the file called: "android-info.txt" in WORDPAD...
3. In the text file change the first line saying "modelid: PG3213000" to "modelid: PG3212000" and go File -> Save.
4. Rezip the file and make sure you call it: "PG32IMG.zip". Copy it the root of your SD card.
5. Reboot your phone in bootloader and let it install... DONE!

which one do you find works best with the bell is?
It all depends on what ROM you're using... You always want to use the radio recommended for the ROM... if it's a RUU, the radio is already in it.
I'm on the Virtuous Unity 1.26.0 ROM and oddly enough there isn't a reccomended ROM.
Also is this way any different than extracting the radio image and pushing it through fastboot?
Both have the same results, but this doesn't require andriod sdk, any work in command prompt, or ENG S-OFF... And I would recommend the 20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M radio
I was wondering how to do this since I need to update my radio to install CM7. Thanks so much for the tutorial!!
Hey can you use this guide when trying to flash a ruu? It never works when trying to flash a RUU because of Model ID incorrect... I am stuck in bootloader because of that...

I have tried that before and it did not seem to work... All it did was install the HBOOT and radio from the RUU and then it rebooted my phone...So essentially all it did was revert my phone back to S-ON... I will keep playing around with RUUs and will release a guide if/when I figure out how to flash them.

Reflash a Gingerbread radio... Unfortunately it is currently impossible to downgrade your radio from Gingerbread to Froyo... It will put you into a never ending boot up loop.
Wait... Are you saying you successfully flashed a GB RUU? How?

No it doesn't work... It was only when I was S-Off that I installed Android Revolution rom and that upgraded me to gingerbread... Well after that I accidently did a hard reset which removed my S-off and I am now stuck in bootloader with ***Security Warning***. The only way to fix it is by flashing a stock RUU but since this is Bell IncS only Sasktel rom works and I cannot flash that because I get the error "Main Version is Older" error.
Noob here. What's RUU?

Edit: :O maybe that's why the RUU didn't complete the installation and rebooted my phone! The radio was newer then the version in the Optus RUU?!?! Omg that might have been my problem...

RUU is an acronym for ROM Update Utility... It is an official update for the phone which makes it as though it was new and seem like it was never tampered with(no root, no custom recovery, not custom HBOOT, returns you to S-ON, etc).
I believe this has been posted elsewhere, but if you are unable to flash your radio AND you are already ENG S-OFF the following works perfectly.
Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WIWVHF7O
Make sure HTC Sync is installed
Extract ZIP to a folder and from that folder run the following:
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
3. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
4. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
This works on any version of the IS, including the Canadian one. I included the recommended radio, however any radio can be used by replacing the radio.img file.
Other radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14834003&postcount=1

Yes, I know, but this makes it so that ENG S-OFF is not required as it is a little bit overkill... Plus, I used this as my basis in an attempt to installing RUUs on the Canadian version of the IS, since I was told it is not possible unless I XTC clip it... I proved those people wrong.
It doesn't seem to work for me.
I edited the android-info.txt file, re-zipped and placed the file onto the sd card. When I reboot into hboot, it says "Loading PG32IMG.zip" then "Parsing" then nothing else happens.
EDIT: Never mind, I got it to work using the other method.

I think that was made with an old hboot in mind, before HTC started 2.0 bootloaders and the lib partition. You could try it, but I don't know any effects.
As the time it stands from my knowledge reading around here, once you go 2.0+ you can't go back down unless you go to htc-dev and unlock thus putting your phone's imei in their database

PERSONALLY I ALREADY KNOW THE REASON IT WONT BOOT WITH OLD HBOOT.
it goes like this.
If you want to support older Hboots it's really quite easy:
- on the installer script of your rom do not try to mount the /system/lib partition as it does not exist
- on the ramdisk, init.saga.rc, just take out the line that is mounting the partition, or at the very least, take out the "wait for mount" statement, that blocks until the partition is mounted, and that's what's causing the boot to fail.

Yeah, I have a sense 3.6 rom stock made from the RUU and it's booting and working fine, even after partition format etc.
I don't know if he can make it work since he doesn't have a vivo to test with, but he is doing sense 4.0.
Normally I don't like sense, but this is just a side project to get this working with the rev hboot.

I'm here with 6.13.1002 as well, and I would prefer to stay with that Hboot...
BTW kaijura I came from hboot 2.0 without passing by htc-dev, I just run nonverbose's tool...
Originally that tool used hellion bug or something similar but now uses tacoroot and work for sure with hboot 2.0 ( personally tested) not sure about 2.02.
The step are simple: just extrat the tool and answer the question...
If I recall corretly: downgrade, I don't have htc-dev unlock phone, I want to create a goldcard and that's it!
The script does all, u have only to reboot the phone and tell him when is rebooted!
Interesting, thanks for the share. I will read into it on the tacoroot.
Here is a link for stock HTC Sense 3.6 ICS 4.0.4 from the Chinese RUU. It's not based on Niks' or Lost prophet's rom. I just made it so it's working for 6.13.1002 hboot for anyone who wants to test it to try it out instead of waiting.
I don't intend to develop this rom or add features to it. It's just a test rom to see if it works and if you want to see what sense 3.6 is like without having to upgrade hboot.
STOCK CHINESE RUU WORKING FOR HBOOT 6.13.1002:
some bugs I've noticed:
- No play store, this may be due to related with CN region as they don't have google services (gmail, youtube, etc). Need to figure if it's APK related or something else.
- SU isn't loaded in yet. I'll have to look later what's wrong.
- Wifi MIGHT or MIGHT NOT work. It seems to be a regional issue and I need SU to install wifixmanager to test it.
- don't know what else, I didn't use it very long.
Rest of everything should be working. Mobile data, camera/camcorder, gmail, youtube, browser. Like I said, it's just a test rom so you know what sense 3.6 is like when the official one is ready.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/3Wy-g_WB/NoSU_noStore_Wifimaybe_rom.html
kaijura, first yes its correct that with the newish tacoroot exploit we no longer need to unlock via htcdev (thanks for pointing this out guys).
Secondly I have successfully swapped from revolutionary hboot to blackrose 2.02 and then back to revolutionary, no PC connection required. Here's the steps I took (and that others may at their own risk )
Make sure you have a nandroid or rom you wish to install. I know I shouldn't have to tell most people this so late in the game but anythings possible.
Download blackrose and extract hboot_blackrose.img to your sdcard root. Its not necessary to use the root folder but fits in this context.
Open terminal, or download and open if you dont have, and type:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
then reboot into recovery.
4ext touch recommended that I do a full system format, but you could probably just get away with formatting cache.
At this stage you should probably verify that you have actually installed the blackrose, by entering hboot.
To revert to revolutionary, its pretty much the same procedure. Simply put revhboot.img in your sdcard root folder and type:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/revhboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Reboot into recovery and format the cache, and verify again if necessary.
Edit: using the dd command does carry some risk. You should check the md5sums before flashing. This can be done in terminal
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/revhboot.img
or in your favourite file explorer.
hboot_blackrose.img
MD5: 9ccb6c894bba1a32a551a6569fc6fccd
revhboot.img
MD5: b9758c59b660cb3dcf5037ec5ccd6b78
I am still on the revolutionary Hboot, and I do not intend to change unless there is either a performance improvement, or if I have to.
I am on ice cold sandwich
I dont really want to be messing with things I dont usually mess with, just as a precaution
Haven't you guys got around the problem anyway?

I am on 6.13.1002 HBOOT as well - revolutionary. Not intending to change anytime soon either. Thanks for the support kaijura.
i'm using hboot 6.13.1002 here,
not intend to switch to higher hboot if possible ...
I am pretty happy staying on the Revolutionary H-boot if possible. Will see what happens in regard to development, why root further if I don't need to
I am also on revolutionary hboot 6.13.1002 here. i would also like the option of leaving my current bootloader alone.
good luck & thanks for the support kaijura
[Q] Downgrade HBoot 2.00 Gingerbread 2.3.5 with HTC sence 3.0 "Permission denied"
I think it's the right place to ask this question
I read almost every thread, however I got confused and couldn't for the life of me, figure out what to do
Here's the problem that is asked so many times, but all with confusing discussions:
I got HTC Incredible s with Gingerbread 2.3.5 and Hboot 2.00 and software number 3.09.415.2
I did the unlock via HTCdev -------------------> no problem
Installed recovery ---------------------------------> no problem
The problem is, I can't downgrade Hboot 2.00 to 1.16 or 1.13. I face this problem after giving command for adb shell:
cd C:\Android
adb.exe shell
adb misc_version /data/local/tmp/ ----------------> from this point. All i get is "permission denied"
I tried using HTC toolkit, making a gold card (the process in which 3 questions were to answer: you device rooted? - want a goldcard?-got unlocked via HTCdev?) - HIS tool.... none would work and after doing these steps, RUU wouldn't install with the error.
can anyone give me a hand?
thanks
Use the script that is in this thread. It should work just fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
Just because you have unlocked the bootloader does not mean you are rooted.
You should probably try answering NO to the are you rooted question and see where that gets you.

Flashing SuperUser will give your apps root access, but in order to run the script successfully, you need a ROM that has an unsecured boot.img, such as any custom ROM. Try installing CM 7 and then re-run the script.
That is why you are getting the access denied message while the script is running.

You will just be required to pull the boot.img from the .zip file. After installing the ROM, reboot to fasboot menu.
Then type in command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Both "boot" are required and do not forget the .img at the end. If you changed the file name, just replace the second "boot" in the command line with whatever u renamed it to but do not forget to put .img at the end

Then type in command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Both "boot" are required and do not forget the .img at the end. If you changed the file name, just replace the second "boot" in the command line with whatever u renamed it to but do not forget to put .img at the end

I'm sorry, could you expand your answer a little bit and guide me more specifically?
thanks
When u download CM7, its in the form of a .zip file. Open the zip file using winrar or whatever unzipping tool u use. Open it, do not extract it. When you open it, you will find a file named "boot." This is a .img file. Copy (not cut) this file where u have adb.exe, fastboot.exe, and AdbWinApi.dll. I will assume u have these files when u downloaded Android SDK. For simplicity sake, do not rename it. Then put the ROM onto your phone and flash the ROM through your recovery. The boot.img file is in the ROM. After you finish flashing the ROM, reboot to bootloader and from there, enter fastboot mode (shud be the first option. just click power button to select it. Then on you computer, open command prompt and navigate to the file with the boot.img, adb.exe, fastboot.exe, and AdbWinApi.dll. In the command prompt, it should say cd c:/(wherever your android stuff is in)/ another folder maybe for organization)/.....>
from there type in fastboot flash boot boot.img
After a few seconds the ROM will have been flashed to your phone. Reboot and u have CM7 on your phone. Then run the RUU.
If the RUU fails, tell us the error number. Although i dont really know much about this, tpblake does and im sure hed be willing to tell you what the error code means cuz the RUU really doesnt tell u jack.
So I did, step by step
I did all, cm7 worked perfectly. then I did as you said, fastboot boot boot.img
As foreseen, error 155 popped out. "please get the correct ROM update utility and try again"
I would be thankful if you guys help me through.
Yet I have another question. If installing custom ROMs are this easily possible, then why should we do the s-off?

You have to s-off to change hboot , rom , kernel , and radio. If you want to downgrade just relock the bootloader and then run the ruu

Once I did the relock, it faced security problems and wasn't working, so I had to unlock it again.
About the second question of mine, I know what s-off is for. My question is, moments ago I flashed CM7 custom ROM to my phone and it works properly. For installing ROMs, being s-off doesn't seem so necessary. or am I wrong?

Yes this. Error 155 will pop up if u have an unlocked bootloader. Relock bootloader and rerun RUU assuming the script ran everything right
Edit: To your above question, yes S-OFF isnt necessary. However, it is necessary for some ROMs to have S-OFF or Blackrose HBOOT, the latter of which can only be obtained from achieving S-OFF. And what kind of security problems

No you're not. If you want to custom install radio , kernel , hboot and rom need to gain s-off but some rom no need to s-off. Like miui rom need s-off and hboot blackrose. Just ignore the security thingy. I had the same problem before for the security but i just run the ruu and install it works. It say security problem on fastboot rite? Then just run the ruu while you on fastboot mode. Hope it works
Also adb shell command need super permission from the device. You have to root your device.

Oh, I know how. I have this cell phone for about two years. It was root and s-off was due. But some accidents happened and I sent it for warranty, they sent it back with Hboot 2.00.0000.
But my problem is, Beta code sent by revolutionary is invalid when inserted in revolutionary.exe command propmt.
Thank you guys, this worked.
To sum it up, If you have "permission denied" problem with runme - and then, installing the RUU - relock your phone, run the RUU. and everything is there.
Peace

Hello guys im new to the forum so sorry for any mistakes I make. Im trying to unbrick an HTC One M7 (S - ON). By using the command 'fastboot getvar version-main' I found out that the image required by the phone is 1.27.206.1 . I have searched for days but I cant seem to find the correct RUU. I did find it in a thread on XDA forum but the link was broken. Can anyone help me? If the RUU is not available is there any other way to unbrick the device?
Thanks in Advance!
FIXED: Read the summary below
I was able to find the correct RUU but the files available were incomplete. So with a lot of help from clsA and nkk71 I was able to find an alternative solution. The solution was to download the Android Revolution HD rom for HTC One and use ADB SIDELOAD to transfer the file in the internal storage From there on it was a piece of cake!

Did you ask Google ?
http://www.droidviews.com/check-md5sum-of-a-file-on-windows-mac-and-linux/
I got it im going to check it right now. I just wanted to confirm something. When I download an RUU isnt it necessary that the image number is same. Like my image is 1.27.206.1 so shouldnt i use an RUU with the same image?

with S-ON, you'll need an RUU which is same or higher version for your MID+CID, which can be inferred from the .206. = O2 UK
you have 1.27.206.1, so you need and RUU which is higher (or equal) to 1.27.206.1; the 1.27.xxx.1 would refer to the actual software version information, the .xxx. indicates the carrier-branded, region, etc. if the version is greater or equal to 1.27.xxx.1 and the .xxx. is 206 then you can run it.
PS: you'll also need a locked/relocked bootloader with s-on, for the ruu to work

s-off will be harder to achieve once you update to a 4.xx RUU
as for download managers, there are plenty, if you want a free (and pretty decent one), i usually use FireFox + DownThemAll add-in

I used Internet Download manager and again downloaded the .exe but Its still not working. I have downloaded it multiple times and it even passed the MD5 test. However, when i check the properties of the .exe the size and size on disk are different from each other. They are different only by 300 to 400 KB, does this have anything to do with the problem im having?

if the MD5 check passed (ie the file you downloaded gives an MD5 hash = 4961fdbbadba53c9640f3638f56faec1) then the file is good.
but the 4.xx RUUs are known to be very sensitive to PC configuration, USB ports, etc. so you should try it with a plain vanilla setup of Windows 7 + USB2 port.
Though (just a thought), why not flash a custom recovery and ROM to get your device back to life, (and possibly even S-OFF).... how did you brick it anyway?
can you also post a "fastboot getvar all" (excluding IMEI and s/n)

why don't you go ahead and:
1- unlock bootloader
2- flash custom recovery
3- flash custom ROM
4- get s-off
5- enjoy
how does that sound?

That sounds good ! Just need to confirm that the bootloader on this phone is relocked not locked. do i need to visit htcdev and follow the protocol to unlock it? secondly by custom recovery you mean CWM or TWRP? I already have TWRP on the phone.

to unlock (with s-on), yes you'd need to HTCdev again, BUT if you already have TWRP installed, i recommend you flash the following ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48955645&postcount=251
you can either push it or sideload it to TWRP, once it boots up, use revone to s-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
revone will also allow to unlock bootloader
once you have s-off, the options are almost limitless, but please remember to flash only things meant for your phone/modelid ... flashing a wrong hboot for example will end up bricking your phone (not trying to scare you but don't think just cause you have s-off, you can now flash an HTC M8 firmware/hboot)

as long as you already have custom recovery on your phone, it should work (honestly, i've never tried, but it should work)
one of the reasons for HTCdev unlock, is to get a custom recovery on your phone (which you cannot do with S-ON and locked/relocked bootloader)
good luck
