[Q] regarding the internal sd card - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is the internal sd card removable, like a micro sdhc, but inside the phone itself, or is it a nand chip of some sort.

It's some kinda of NAND chip that is soldered on the mainboard.

sounds like you have sd card failure.. is this an i9000m.. very common

i have a international version, and the phone works normal, it's just that in the file folder it states sd card , so I was wodering if it's a removable card, just like some of the new windows 7 phone.
thanks

[Q] External SD as SOLE mass storage device?

Hello.
Got an external SD card today (32gb). Now when the device gets plugged into the computer it mounts it as two separate drives (internal SD and external SD). Is there anyway to either change the priority so the external SD is number 1 or prevent the internal SD from mounting or have them treated as one drive?
I ask because since getting the external SD and filling it up with music my car headunit only detects the internal SD, because it doesn't have the capability of detecting 2 storage drives.
Preventing/being able to control the internal sd from being used as a mass storage device would be the ideal outcome. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Using JPU 2.2.1.
Cheers,
Mike.
I need this as well. Otherwise my car cannot play music stored on the external_sd.
All help is appreciated.

[Q] USB write problem

Hi,
I am having problems with writing files SD card mounted as drive on HTC Velocity.
The phone often but randomly loses connection but only when copying large amounts of data. (mostly lots of small files)
Both SD card and Internal phone memory drives are lost.
I need to unplug/replug usb cable to restore drive.
When copying files, they randomly pause for a few seconds at different point and then continue then suddenly drive is lost. It appears as though HTC velocity has some other process running that interferes with copy process.
I have tried:
copying from different PC using different USB cables.
Tested SD card in SD card reader directly plugged into PC.
The SD card is Adata 32G UHS.
Any ideas on what more I can do to troubleshoot this?
Are there log files on phone that I can view?
Thanks

Could be a problem with the micro usb port on the phone. Check for any dust or debri or any bent pins.
I don't believe it is physical - read is ok
Write to internal storage is ok as well.
I have checked pins and all looks ok.
Also swapped with 16G SD card that was working in HD2 - same issue.
Still having issues writing.
Is there a legacy USB mode similar to some earlier HTC models or other settings I can change?
Any other ideas please?
Thanks
Solved
Did a factory reset and seems to have resolved the issue.
Wipe all data from data/sd card.
Suspect there was something installed that was causing SD card connections to stall when writing.
If I will update if I figure out the cause

Lumia 521 SD Card Boot Problem

So I have a 64gb card in my phone, everything works fine on it except on boot it says there a problem when there really is none. All my music and files open just fine. Another issue I have is that the USB transfer rate is slower than 1.1 so any time I want to put new music on in have to take the card out and use an SD card reader to put new files onto it. Often times when transfer via a cable to the phone it just locks up mid transfer. How do i fix both the SD card problem boot message and the horrible transfer rates and lockup via USB?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Same issue on lumia 820.
Its possible that the master file table is dirty and the MicroSD needs formatted, but I'd use the Panasonic SD card formatter (I think that's what its called anyways), as SD cards require special care compared to hard drives.

Moving sd card from an older phone

Ok, maybe this is a stupid question, but can I plug in an SD from Z5c or Z1c, with data (pics and music)?
Yes, it will work. When first plugging it in it might give an option to use it as internal storage or external / removable storage. Select it as removable storage as using it as internal sometimes requires a full format of the SD card.
Thank you. I used the SD card from my Z1c, no problem. My new 256gSD is coming in the next couple of days. I'll wait to transfer all pics and music from previous devices. Might need the laptop for that...
