Leaked 2.2 for International Galaxy S

It seems a leaked Android 2.2 update was released for the International Galaxy S. It is NOT compatrible with our US models, but I figured Id post it for those who want to look at getting it to work on our US versions.

Just checked this out.. Looks fairly promising, basically requires a regedit to get it to download the file.. hopefully i can see what it will do for the Vibrant.

looks legit, but man they were about to lynch the OP for a while there in that thread haha, I guess it's only a matter of time now...

crossing my fingers that T-mobile will do a fast job on getting the update ready for us to

Yep, almost certainly going to be like the first froyo leak all over again, lol.
So FYI, for those who don't know, flashing the previous froyo leak via odin, and then trying to flash back to stock JFD, was the only confirmed way to truly brick a vibrant, so PLEASE don't do anything unless you know 100% what you're doing.
This likely isn't like eugene's version of the previous froyo leak yet, and will probably flash the baseband, which is probably still irreversible (that's the part that caused bricks when trying to revert.)

Samsung pulled the latest update (that was available via KIES)?

So I read about the update while at college. Came home, backed up my phone, and opened KIES to grab the update (I have used KIES previously for wired tethering, so everything was setup already.) Unfortunately, I got this message:
Model Name: SGH-T959
Current Version: PDA:JFD / PHONE:JFD
The device's version cannot be updated.
I called Samsung Tech support and they told me "There is no software available for Samsung Vibrant. If you download KIES it won't even work for your phone. Any update will be pushed OTA."
Beside the idiotic response of how KIES won't even work for my phone (yes I know it isn't "officially" released for USA phone but that doesn't mean it won't work...), it seems like Samsung has pulled the firmware update. Maybe someone accidentally flipped the switch a bit early?

Okay, although Samsung has pulled the update from Kies, the update itself is still available from http://fus.samsungmobile.com/Phone_...T959TMBJI5_T959UVJI5_T959UVJI5_UV_TMB.zip.enc.
Download it and flash with Odin.

Thanks. This is helpful if it works. It didn't work for my via kies so odin should work for me if its a tar file. And whoever asked did this deserve its own thread, id say yes because it obviously helped me out. Thank you

You need to use Stuffit to unzip it first. Search for a program that unzips .enc files.

Thanks for posting. This did need a new thread. Ignore the want to be forum police for they obviously have a miserable existence.

How would I flash that file if i have a Mac?

Old Kies vs. Upgraded Kies
I downgraded Kies to 1.5.1 (i believe) and upgrade magically appeared when running 1.5.3 no upgrade so I dont know if sammy pulled it or not. BTW I prefer egg beaters.

No this doesnt need a new thread, as almost everyone who tried the JI5 update said it was nothing special, and THERE ALREADY IS A THREAD FOR THIS UPDATE lol. The fact that Samsung pulled it also states something. If you want to flash a bad firmware, feel free this doesnt need to be here in its own thread.

I can imagine why, so many people.called samsung, maybe thats why it got removed

like t-mobile just posted, theres something wrong with the version samsung released and it's going to be released via OTA sometime soon.

Post goes into Question & Answers section. If your looking for a good rom with a captivate base go with Cognition or JJ4 optimized.

Yup agreed with everyone they are all leaked. But if you want to find the closests one to stock ATT, then find the One-Click JI6 Odin by DesignGears. That is as close to stock as it gets.

I did and update on my phone today and it said there was an update available. Whenever it tries to install it, it fails at 50%. Is that supposed to be 2.2 or is that just a baseband update?

Ummm I don't believe it is. Vibrant 4G rom would be labeled "T959V" and this is labeled "T959."

Can I assume that since there has not been an "Official" OTA release, that nothing has ever been "Official" and that the release via kies can differentiate from an OTA ?

I don't think anyone has gotten a truly official OTA yet. This has to be another leak.. same as the kies update.
Who knows what they change in these leaks... besides adding sbl .... that could possibly brick ya ****!

If that won't drive you crazy, it should at least get you warned for not following forum rules and searching instead of posting for no reason..... If that user searched, they would have easily found this thread showing you exactly how to root the 925A!

EDIT - and because someone asked........ Root has been achieved for both OCE and the 5.13.15 OE2 update
EDIT 2 - and because more people can't read, you CANNOT root anything past May 15th builds, so none of the OF_ updates, nothing that comes out after May 15th, so don't update unless you want to lose root! The information is all there in the thread linked above, if you don't read, you don't have anyone to blame but yourself!

Is that your current baseband? That's even newer than G925AUCU1AOE2, though I think you added an extra C near the end....

Okay, that makes sense then, OC9 instead of what I thought you were talking about, "OE9" which I guess does not exist (yet?)
They skipped that one because OE2 is out and there's no need to get the build in the middle developed, from what I can tell.... I've been wrong before though! Just hit your software update and get OE2 then root that, it has the most updates we're going to see before 5.1.1 comes out next month (still more speculating, but that's an informed guess this time based on lots of reading up on the new Galaxy from across the web)

Gotcha, I haven't been pushed the update yet so hopefully when I do ill be updated to OE2.

If you search the forums, you'll find it mentioned many times that there is no way to downgrade and there is also no known root method for OF4
