[Q] Swype questions. - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So occasionally when using swype I will come across a word that I didn't add to the dictionary that prevents me from typing the word I want. This normally isn't a big deal because accidentally adding misspelled wordsmto the dictionary isn't highly uncommon.
However, the same words have been showing up even after I delete them, and on different ROM's. The same words have appeared on licensed and standalone apk's that I have used of swype. Some of the words are "jarur" and "pau", and I find it really unlikely that I keep typing these exact words and then accidentally add them to the dictionary.
I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem?
Also, is there anyway to directly edit the swype dictionary? Or do I have to just find the accidental words as I come across them?

Better Keyboard issue

Better Keyboard works fine per se, but I have issues with the dictionary. According to the creator, I should be able to add words to the dictionary and they should take precedence in the suggestions.
For example, I want to add Haha to the dictionary as it always suggests gaga instead. So I long click Haha and "saved" pops up, but the next time I put in Haha, gaga comes up again.
Anyone else have this issue or know how to get around it?
This doesn't happen for me in BK. Perhaps try uninstall/reinstall the app, and go Settings / Locale & Text / User Dict and make sure your words are in userdic as you expect them to be.
The issues lies in the fact that I have a Rogers Magic which for some dumb ****ing reason has no user dictionary. I have spoken with the creator of BK and we are trying to find a workaround. Apparently the Hero doesn't have a user dictionary either.

Dictionary for swype?

Ok let me start by saying sorry if this is in the wrong forum but i didnt see an App section in the main XDA screen.
Also let me state that I searched but only found a way to add words if rooted, which i am not.
Just wondering if anyone has run across a way to add words to the Swype dictionary? I think i managed to do it once by accident but not being able to Swype things like curse words or even something like "haha" is bothering me.
I read in the swype help section that to add a word to dictionary just spell out the word normally then hit space. Swype auto adds the word to its dictionary. To remove a word just highlight the word then hit the swype function key and it will give you the option to delete word from dictionary. This has worked for me.

[Q] Word spelling/own words

Hi.
When typing (i'm mostly using the keypad keyboard, (to large hands ) whenever i see that there is an word not in the dictionary, i would like to add it, and in the same time correct whatever the phone allready has suggested..
Here's the thing... i can not find an easy way to do it... now i have to mark the word and press/hold to get the menu to add it to the dictionary.. this alone is a bit enoying, but if its a completely different word, and i correct it in the popup box, when i hit ok, it does not insert the word i just corrected, but leaves the word i originaly typed... so then i have to delete the word, and type again... this seems a bit unnessesary..
Anyone know of a better way?
Stock rom, stock LG keypad/keyboard
+1, i'd love to have the ability to import, say, text files and let the dictionary picks it up from that.

[Q] Any way to disable ONLY the word-replacement feature on the stock keyboard app?

I DO want the word predictions, suggestions, autocorrect, etc features.
What I absolutely cannot STAND, as well as cannot phantom why they thought it was a good idea, is how the stock keyboard will replace a word you typed correctly with a completely different word it assumed you "meant" to type, even when both words are in it's dictionary. The keyboard options seem to be an all-or-nothing deal from as far as I can tell, either I disable any and all types of correction and prediction features whatsoever, or leave them all on.
Yes, I know there are alternate keyboards, but I prefer the stock one. Is there any way to disable only this feature?
Settings/language and keyboard/Htc sense input/advanced. Its right there at the top it says "Word Prediction",un check the box

Click to collapse
I don't think that's the option I am thinking of. I am talking about how it will auto-replace the current word you are typing, even if it is spelled correctly AND in the phone's dictionary, by the word it thinks you MEANT to type. Not offering suggestions to what it thinks you are typing before you are done typing it, or autocorrecting misspelled words.

Improving predictive text on stock keyboard?

I find that when I try to use the handwriting keyboard with the S-Pen, it frequently does not recognize names that I try to write. Unless I'm very deliberate with how I write each letter, it often either changes to random words, adds spaces that don't belong, or completely gets the name wrong and just lists random letters or symbols. This is especially the case when I try to write people's usernames, which are often neither common words or common names.
I would have thought that the keyboard would start to remember when I correct it with the proper spelling of names, but it's not getting the hint. Is there some other way to train or manually enter new words and get it to be recognized by the handwriting keyboard? I feel like I never had this trouble with my old Note 3...
