Yeah need to convert for now,.... An app called Handbrake is pretty good.
on my hero (villainrom 6.1.0) i use yxflash player. Try the trial first to make sure it works for you. Works fine with the avi files i use. Not sure about rmvb though
One of the nicer tablet optimized apps featured in the Market is the CNN for Android app. Unfortunately, for those of us who have rooted our Xooms, for some reason we cannot play video through the app and get a "CNN Video is not available offline. Please connect to a network and try again" message when we try to play video.
Presumably if there is something about rooting that causes this problem, then it is something with a reasonably easy solution. Unfortunately, I have no clue as to what that solution is. Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can get video working in this app?
Not sure why its not working for you, but its works find for me rooted with 1.4 cybertronic_p6 kernel..
Yeah, it's working with my own kernels, too (essentially the Moto Stock kernel HR166 with the Tiamat Overclock patches and all the latest upstream stuff).
I can't see how rooting and/or updated kernels could mess with that. Now, your init files (part of the "boot.img" that actually enables root) could be missing something that the video section requires.
Can you play embedded videos from any other source?
Do you have adfree installed? As soon as I uninstalled that, the videos started working again.

Yes I do, I thought that might have been what was causing the problem. I don't want to uninstall AdFree. Any idea which host I can delete from the hosts.txt file created by AdFree to get it working?
Hi, I wondered if there was any way for me to get the standard Samsung video player app installed on my 3110 running [ROM][Hybrid][JB:CM10] Paranoid Android 2.51+ - Legacy?
I extracted SecTabletVideoPlayer.APK from a Samsung 4.1.1 rom and tried to install but it stopped part way through with a generic not installed message?
Thanks
Dom
You could try to copy that APK to /system/app/ and set its permission to rw_,r__,r__. Then reboot your tab. I haven't tried to install that myself, but it might work.

Send From nokia n9 QUAD BOOT : Maemo, Meego, NITDroid, and Kubuntu.
Thanks guys, will give the perms a try
It won't work... It needs the TouchWiz framework and other files, that don't exist in non-TouchWiz roms. I've also wanted that and tried, but no go. Not the video player, the music player, the calendar, the S-Planner, nothing done by Samsung works.

permission problem
I'm using a GS4 i9505 v4.3 and 4.2.2(both of them) rooted with CF-auto, every time when this app want to work i ask for root permission and I grant but at the end I get this error:
su-mksh: <stdin>[14]:cat:/system/bin/debuggerd.res:no such file or directorymount:device or resource busy
I also update the security policy to pass the app.
What is the problem?

TWC TV app with HDMI check removed for livetv.
using [Xposed][1/30/2013] Allow TWC TV to work on devices with USB debug (and maybe VPN?)
I now have TWC TV working on my Ouya.
---note-- i never use the VOD, but after testing it out, I have missed a check.
use browser to download apk or sideload from pc.

Tried it, but closes after launch for me, just like the others. Thanks for providing it to test.

did you sideload or did you download and install?
did you have another version of twc tv installed?
do you have the play store installed?
what firmware version are you running?
did you install xposed framework installed?
do you have adb debugging enabled?
just trying to find out more about why its force closing.
I will try a clean install of latest ouya.
will also try unrooted ouya.
Before installing this version I uninstalled the official TWC version.
Then I downloaded directly to tablet and installed.
Play Store is installed.
My Samsung GT-P7510 is running Android 4.2.2 Kernel 3.1.10-cyanogenmod+ 10.1-20131103-NIGHTLY-p4wifi
I am not familiar with xposed fraework, I do not believe I have it installed. Do I need it?
In the Developer options setting Android debugging is not enabled.

HDMI check on ondemand
Any way you can remove the HDMI check on on demand the live TV works thank you very much for that
Anyone have a suggestion about why this might not be working on my tablet?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Thanks so much for this, it works for VOD and LiveTv now I can return the box from my bedroom.
Nevermind, asked the guy that modded the APK.
Any chance of doing the same thing on the Brighthouse app? I believe they are nearly identical. I will happily test on my Ouya.
No longer works, prompts me to update via the play store. When I do it throws up the hdmi error.
Application no longer works. Is there any chance for an upgrade? I would love to be able to use this with my Ouya.
Can you post the steps for removing the hdmi check?

me too. Just got an Nvidia TV console. Android is awesome for TV except so many things...fixable things. I'm willing to donate, be a tester, etc for reviving this project.

Hearthstone is now available for Android tablets. It's supposedly optimized for Lollipop and KitKat as well. The question is, how do we get it to run.
So far I have followed this guide to download the .apk and .obb files.
http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone..._run_hearthstone_on_any_rooted_android_phone/
Once I install it, I can run the program but it gives me a "Only available on 6" and larger tablets". Sounds like we need to change the DPI or the device name on the build.prop.
Can someone help figure out the best way to do this? The guide calls for Xposed which is unfortunately not available for Lollipop. The main thing is that I don't want to change my DPI for the entire phone just to run the game.
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat, also have a nexus 6, eagerly wanting to play some hearthstone!
Tried changing the DPI of the whole phone and the game runs fine, just need someone to patch the apk or try and find another workaround for the screen check
Yeah I figure we can come up with some sort of workaround to make it less inconvenient!
They're having some success at this link, using a modified APK:
