[Q] Blacklist Question - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I was just curious if I purchased a used Milestone unlocked poped my bell active Bell sim card into it and it works fine does that mean the phone IMEI is fine and not black listed or is this something you can not tell intill you get the phone it's own Sim ? Just looking to buy a used Milestone [A853] for the wife so just want to make sure it's not black listed before purchasing.

I am not sure what you mean by blacklisted. Most operators allow you to run an unlocked phone on your sim without issues. We swap phones all the time at work and Rogers doesn't say anything. There only time i have seen a blacklist implemented was for a specific reason: the rogers htc dream/magic e911 patch. They would blacklist an IMEI until you patched and call customer service.
I have been with fido, rogers and bell and have not hear of blacklisting unlocked phones.

[Q] Unlocked Rogers Captivate with AT&T Sim "No Service" issue

Hello Everyone,
I've done a bit of searching but still can't find out if i'm having an issue or if this is the way it's suppose to work. This is my first experience with an Unlocked phone as well as Android. So here's the story.
I rooted my phone and then used the Unlock Pro to unlock it. I ordered an AT&T Sim card from Ebay, which arrived last week. I put the Sim card in my phone and it boots up, everything seems fine except that it says "No Service". I contacted AT&T and they confirmed that the Sim is active and it should be working.
To make sure that my phone was unlocked. I used the program to lock it again "with the rogers SIM in it" and then put in the AT&T sim and I was asked for an Unlock Code. So I took that to mean that it was properly unlocked. So I unlocked it again, and then put the Sim in but still "No Service".
I tried to put in the APN settings that I found on a site, but not sure if they are correct. and now i'm at a loss. I had purchased this for an upcoming trip to the states, but don't want to put any money on the account if it's not going to work.
I guess my first question is this "Should a new sim work out of the box?" i.e. should I be able to put in and get service even though I would be roaming in Canada?? Or do I have to be in the states first before it will work and allow me to roam in canada?
Any help you guys can provide or explaination on how it "should" work, would be great.
Well....does att provide service in canada? I don't know if rogers is part of att or not. If they don't I would assume the sim would not work because of no att towers?
Thanks for getting back to me. Rogers is not part of AT&T but they use the same GSM Frequency. So anyone travelling up here on AT&T would use the rogers towers (I believe).
That's why I'm thinking I need to be in the states before the SIM will work.
I would call att back and ask them if the case. Makes sense to me, but I'm nobody.
actually Rogers is owned by att. it is AT&T rogers wireless~!
but that does not mean that it should work.
APN settings are for data, you should still be able to make calls...
LOLOL cute
Ya i think I will do that tonight. When I was talking to them last time, the woman didn't really understand why i couldn't connect. but then again i don't think she really understood that I was in canada. LOL

Wow I'm still running with my 9800 Baud modem. Saving up for a 14.4.
Bing bong biiiiiiiing.....ahhhh the soothing sounds of dialup....those were the days.
I just tried the SIM again, seeing if maybe after a week it might just work now but ya no luck. you never know it could happen. LOLOL I'm wondering if I need to get a roaming package added to the Go Phone plan that i'm on before it will work. Gonna call customer support and find out
Since this is my first time with anything like this I'm not really sure about anything LOL
Okay so I just called at&t customer support. Didn't start off so well. First the guy told me that don't offer any service nor can any AT&T customer roam in canada. then he placed me on hold when I asked him to confirm, and he came back saying that AT&T doesn't off roaming in canada on their pay as you go phones. So i guess I can believe that one
Looks like i'll have to put some money on the sim and then hope it works when I go down there, Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions.

Can D3 and activate on pageplus?? and where can i get the phone with no contract?

Can D3 and activate on pageplus?? and where can i get the phone with no contract?
i think verizon offers $459 and amazon offers $549~ but how can i buy the phone with $459 price?
and can i return it if i cant get activated on pageplus
You need a verizon account to purchase the phone, or find a friend that does. The d3 should work on pageplus as its not a new 4glte device that requires a sim to activate, uses an old school *228 activation

what does that mean??
If I buy the phone from Amazon wireless will it be unlocked, that is, can it work anywhere in the world on any GSM provider's SIM?
A proper answer would be much appreciated.
I seriously wanna buy this phone and I am willing to pay the $550 price at Amazon wireless, if and only if, the phone is unlocked.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the D3 isn't a GSM phone. I'm pretty sure its only a global cdma

The Droid 3 is a GSM and CDMA handset, it is mentioned in the verizon manual for this handset that a sim card can be inserted, currently it is suspected however that this is sim locked.
http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/mot_droid3/droid3.pdf
Go to the Global Phone section in this PDF and it is mentioned
It is a global phone that supports GSM networks. Arguing over it won't help us much. What will help is an answer to which version of the phone is unlocked for all GSM networks.
Its is a GSM global phone, includes a Verizon SIM that is locked. Verizon customers in good standing can get the phone unlocked with a call to Verizon Global support.

Hmmm....yes, but the question here is whether the phones with no contract are also SIM locked or not.
hi guys, can anyone answer my question
So, here's the response I got from the Amazonwireless guys:
{I'm very sorry but the replacement phones (phone only no service) on Amazonwireless are locked to the carriers. You would need to find an unlocked phone.
There are basically two types of unlocked phones. CDMA Unlocked and GSM Unlocked.
An Unlocked CDMA phone will basically work with carriers like Verizon, Alltel, and Sprint. Unlocked GSM phones work with carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile.
Unlocked cell phones are designed to work with any carrier that uses SIM cards. Some advanced features may not work depending on the carrier you are using. I would recommend contacting the carrier you are going to be using to ask if the phone you are interested in will work with their network, and if there are any features that you would not be able to use.
If you would like to shop for an unlocked cell phone please visit Amazon.com using the link below
www(dot)amazon(dot)com/cellphones
I hope this information helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.}
Thomaslau it means that this phone still needs to be activated using *228 which pageplus accepts. 4gLTE phones do not use *228, they use a sim card to activate

so it will works???
What my understanding is with CDMA is that it's ALWAYS unlocked. The problem lies with carriers not allowing foreign ECID/IMEI's on their network database which allows the phones to work.
Should work flawless

ok, now i got my droid 3, but i struck at the activation menu, the one with the android robot. what should i do to activate my phone on pageplus?? do i need to activate my phone on verizon then pageplus?
I thought with pageplus you call them, give them the esn from the back of the phone, starts with a000000, then dial *228 when they tell you to

[Q] Moving AT&T Apps to SD card

I bought a new AT&T factory unlocked G4 Active off eBay. It is running Gingerbread and has not been rooted.I then bought a StraightTalk sim card and everything works fine except two things,
I have used Applications Manager and discovered (I will confess I have learned a lot from this forum AFTER I tried that) it will not allow me to move the useless(????) AT&T apps to the SD card. Is there any way to do that since I don't think I am using them since I have a StraightTalk sim installed? And #2, since I get lousy service on the GSM network (AT&T), is it possible to convert this phone so it runs on VZ?
Thanks
The Galaxy S4 Active is barely 4 months old and shipped with Android 4.2.2 aka Jellybean - if yours has Gingerbread on it (Android 2.3) something is very wrong.
And GS4A's are not sold unlocked, even from AT&T. You have to buy one that's carrier locked, then contact their support to get the unlock code (as I understand it). Even paying full price for the phone off-contract in an AT&T corporate store means you still end up having to contact their support by phone, providing the necessary info, and they'll provide the unlock code as required - the store personnel just don't do that or even have access to those codes even if you pay full price on the spot for one "unlocked."
As for moving the apps to the microSD card, I don't think that's a possibility with the stock apps; your best bet to get rid of them is with Titanium Backup (the paid version) and freeze 'em all out. I could be wrong on that so someone else can answer it perhaps.
The LTE capability of the GS4A won't work with Verizon's CMDA network that I'm aware of, and obviously Verizon isn't a GSM carrier at all so there goes that idea too.
Are you 100% confident of what you actually bought?

Yep, I am sure it is unlocked. I bought it advertised as unlocked and activated it on StraightTalk. It came with an AT&T sim card (unused) and I bought a StraightTalk sim card for it and have been using it for about a month. My only "gripe" is one AT&T app (My AT&T) is still in the App menu and I recently downloaded and launched GPS/Mapquest. AT&T came on in the middle of my drive with their AT&T travel app and I could not get back to my original course. Not to be argumentative but is there any way I can tell for sure I am unlocked given the info above? I have 4.2.2. Guess I'll have to give up on deleting the AT&T apps. PS I have disabled all AT&T apps, except the one above, in my phone App Mgr Haven't checked the Mapquest routing since I did that so don't know if that very big problem went away.
Thanks for the help
The StraightTalk SIM card will be using AT&T's cellular network so that's why it won't complain with it in there - stick a SIM card from T-Mobile or some other network provider and you'll find out instantly if it's carrier locked or not as soon as you turn it on because it'll ask for the unlock code if it is.
AT&T doesn't sell the GS4A unlocked - it is sold locked to their network and if you pay the full price for the phone (meaning you own it at that point) you will be given a number to call (an AT&T support rep) where you have to provide the IMEI of the phone and the transaction number from the purchase receipt; they will provide you with the carrier unlock code which is entered when you put in SIM card from another carrier and turn on the phone.
While I got mine unlocked using an official AT&T unlock code from an eBay reseller, before I got this one off craigslist I had considered buying it brand new back in June from AT&T at the full retail price so I asked how the carrier unlock would be accomplished and was told by the AT&T corporate store employee here in Las Vegas exactly what I just said above: the boxed phones at the stores are locked to AT&T and must be unlocked with the carrier unlock code.
Since I'm not the original owner I couldn't just call in and ask for it myself so that's why I used a person off eBay and haven't had any issues so far, it was worth the $9 to get it unlocked.
Whoever owned that phone you have may have already unlocked it, but AT&T doesn't sell them that way...
You bought it off eBay, not directly from AT$T. Many eBay sellers unlock phones to make them easier to sell, but no carrier sells phones already unlocked. And 4.2.2 is definitely not Gingerbread. All S4 Actives came with Jellybean. As was said, you will not get this phone to work on Verizon's 4G network.

[Q] No longer works with EE sim

Hi All,
I recently purchased a Droid Turbo from the US on eBay and when i got my new sim card to put in it yesterday it work fine and I could make and recieve calls as well as access my 4g network data.
However this morning I cant make or recieve calls at all and there is no data access, I get the following messaeges:
Sim Card is not from Verizon
When I take the sim out and put it back in I get:
Restricted Access Changed - Voice Service is blocked
I dont understand how this can all of a sudden not be working after it was when I first used it? Can someone please help me with this issue?
I also checked the IMEI number to ensure it hadnt been blacklisted and the results are below:
Blacklisted Not Indicated
This device does not appear to be globally blacklisted.
Activation Status Clear (Verizon)
Device appears to be activation ready.
Thanks
Hi All,
So I have actually tracked this to a sim issue as EE have apparently sent 2 sims out for some reason and already de-activated the one I have so I will wait for the new one and then should be all good
Thanks

Hi, did you receive the new sim yet? does it work?
I am looking to buy one too and I am curious what is the best route to get the phone from the US to the UK.
Amazon, Ebay?... any custom fee to pay?
hi guys, ive been using mine now for a couple of weeks on ee in london, no issue like the above. Got it from ebay (went for the global shipping option) and had it delivered here for a total of £460 inc customs and delivery. Phone works great on ee, no dropped calls etc, 30mb down on 4g/lte

[Q] Found damaged N910T - Unlock, Root for Rom and Modem for ATT? [w/Pics]

My nephew said he found the phone on the road underneath an overpass. Screen digitizer looks damaged, no battery, no battery back cover and all banged up (see pics). He gave it to me to either fix or trash. I would like to get the phone looking new, working and give it back to my nephew running on AT&T's network.
Questions:
1. All the parts I need are compatible with most Note 4's correct? Will these work here and here?
2. Being a T-Mo device, the bootloader should be unlocked correct?
3. If the device is locked (not purchased by cash) can the unlock code be unnecessary by rooting? If not, what are my options since I did not purchase this device?
4. AT&T Roms are not compatible on T-Mo devices running on AT&T network correct? So will T-Mo Rom's work on N910T running on AT&T network?
5. Can I Root, flash Rom and modem?
Greatly appreciate your input, thanks.
Tmobile phone will work fine on AT&T. No need to flash anything special just pic a ROM and set up am APN.

I just purchased the T-Mobile variant and I am going to unlock it via http://www.cellunlocker.net. When checking out at cellunlocker.net they displayed a message:
"Please be advised in order to unlock your Samsung Note 4, you MUST activate the phone with the original carrier or SIM issued within your designated location. This must occur before you attempt to unlock and activate the phone with a foreign sim card. The Note 4 has a region lock feature seperate to sim unlocking and if unlocked before activating to its original carrier or continent the phone will be region-locked and must be unlocked directly from Samsung. For more information, please refer to the warning sticker found on the packaging that your phone came in."
Do I just need to get a T-Mobile sim and activate it once? Then boot it up with my ATT sim and enter in the unlock code? Or can I disregard this message?

1) not sure... most of the main parts should be the same.. i.e screen. There may be slight variations with many parts.. such as charging ports.
2)Bootloader is unlocked to my knowledge however Im not certain.
3) Rooting and unlocking are 2 seperate things. The phone will be carrier locked. I have a tmobile Note 4 phone that I run on AT&T. I paid to unlock it on simunlocker. Ive never rooted this phone yet
4)False to my knowledge. There should be no issue at all here
5)YOU cant change the modem to a modem from a different carrier. and there is absolutely no reason to do so. YOu should be able to flash an ATT rom on it if you'd like.
Unfortunately... It is true what others have said. If the phone was not paid for in full by the OG owner( on Tmobiles plan where you pay for the phone month to month)... then it will most likely be black listed at some point. SO you might be able to activate it but 4 months down the road it could suddenly stop working.

Yep, blacklisted.. Now what are my options, if any?
If it's blacklisted, nothing short of changing the IMEI # with a JTAG device can save it.
Considering it's physical condition, trash it. I would.

Leads be to believe down the road a few months service may be cut off due to blacklist? I would still like to explore other alternatives to avoid service being possible cut off...
