I live in NYC. I've been to a knicks game last week on monday. Sitting on the court. Photo creds rule
As for the city.
Typical tourist spots that I hate: Times Square, Ground Zero, Rockefeller center.
If you decide to go to one of the top buildings I suggest Top of the Rock. Much nicer view and you get an awesome view on the Empire State Building and Central Park. From the ESB you dont really see Central Park. I'm thinking what else is cool around the city.
YOu can visit "the hood" for an adrenaline rush when you gear gun shots.
Crap, I just realized I don't like NYC, and have no idea what legal stuff it has too offer.
YOu can take a walk through Central Park too.

I travel to NY almost all January´s and if it´s your first time I can recommend:
-Guggenheim Museum
- MOMA
- Battery Park
- See some plays @ Broadway
- Liberty Statue
- Bars at Soho and Greenwich Village
-Art & design galleries at Soho and Greenwich Village
- Walk on Central Park
- Skate in Rockefeller center
Just a few ones came up to my mind, it´s a great city and you´ll never get bored
All will depend on your personal preferences...

Also, if instead of the Knicks, you went to see the Rangers, there would be a high possibility you would meet me. lol

Also if you like restaurants, bars, pubs, taverns (yes, yes i know all the same thing ) ect...Come to Hoboken NJ TONS of places!!

doesn't it kinda depend on what part of newyork you are going to? i go to malone newyork (about 11 miles from canada ) way upstate, and we just go hike in the mountains. it's fun as hell.

I think him saying he's going to MSG to see the Kicks kind of gives it away that he'll be in the city.

If you want bars, walk down second Ave between Houston and 15th street. You'll find hundreds.
McSorleys on 7th street between 2nd and 3rd for $2 beers (They come in "Dark" and "Light" only) and The Continental on 3rd Ave and 8th street for "$10 for 5 shots of anything."

Favorite NFL Team?

I gotta go with the Dallas Cowboys!
But, this year I don't see them going all the way. Romo still has a little more conditioning to do in my opinion. Also, T.O. is out for a couple games. :\
So who is your Favorite NFL Team?
Mine is the one with best record
Romo has been done in by the Jessica! She is nothing but bad luck...
Au contraire, mon ami... the correct answer is the reigning NFL champion Indianapolis Colts.
The Pats are gonna crash and burn...
cowboys
(only because someone gave me 3 cowboys shirts last year-i really don't know why! but they're cool in the summertime...)
I wouldn't be surprised if the colts won the super bowl again this year

I never had anything against the Giants but damn.. Eli needs to become a little more reliable. That game against the Bills... the Giants defense won that game for them.
Well, I'm am a home town kind of fan. I was born just south of St. Louis so I started out a Cardinal fan. (Yes a Cardinal FOOTBALL fan) I moved to Louisiana in 77 and for over 25 years I tried really really really hard to be a Saints fan........ but they never fail in finding ways to disappoint. Now I live in the Dallas area, so I'm gonna give them Cowboys a try. Ready made dynasty with 5 S.B. championships. I think they are going to be a team I can get behind. Looks like TO has shed the primadonna status and the drama that goes along with it. Just need him back and healthy. Romo has come into his own, but he needs to shed the distraction if you know what I mean. He also needs a little more maturity and experience. If they make it to the Super Bowl, it may be more pressure than he can take.
I have to pull for the Patriots somewhat.... they have one of my kin folk playing on that team (Wes Welker) so I gotta hope he does well.

LOL, I wondered if someone was going to make that offer. I think the folks in St. Louis might pass on that.
I grew up in New Hampshire and have been a life long Patriots fan. I remember watching them get demolished by the Bears in their first Super Bowl. That just makes these last few and this season so much sweeter. I was hoping for two perfect teams this year, but Miami had to blow that by winning a game!
Did any of y'all watch the Pats - Ravens game? I'll prob get flamed now.. but Murderin Ray Lewis and the Ravens went to town on the Pats in that game. I also feel that they won. The time out called on that 4th down play was by a ravens staff member who legally was not allowed to make time out calls. The refs ignored it.
Ravens won that imho.
This makes 3 for the Cowboys! And yes, I think we might go all the way...

Well my lifelong beloved team has had some very bad seasons...however, I have always been and always will remain a loyal member of the Raider Nation!!
Oakland RAIDERS!!!
PS- the thumbnail is actually my first boot screen, and I have another Raiders image on my second boot screen...this is how much I love my team...pretty much everything I own has some form of Raiders insignia on it!
16 wins, a all time NFL record. The Pat's ROCK!! They seem extra motivated by the negative-press and non-believer's...

Yeah i think the Ravens deserved to win that game, but the thing about the Pats is that even though they've almost lost several games, they still pull out the W if even at the last second. And although Im not a fan and i was rooting for them to lose as much as anybody, I think they are an amazing team.

Who's ready for Hurricane Irene?

Hey! I live in Franklin Park, New Jersey... And my area is gonna be having Hurricane force winds, and possibly extreme flooding.
I want to see if there are other people on this forum who are prepared for Hurricane Irene.
I haven't seen other threads like this one, so I figured I'd make it.
Best of luck to everybody else on the East Coast, and stay safe!

Also like the Beretta 92
Never been keen on glocks or sigs, and only certain 1911s.
A guy I know nearly killed his ex wife with his 92 at a firing range in Israel.
I've only ever been to military ranges (you have to be well spaced from the guy shooting to your left if there is no barrier) and always presumed most civilian ranges would be like you see in the movies (ie booths) but their range just had a long table.
She was shooting a little revolver to is right when an empty case ejected from his gun and went down the back of her neck. As she jumped from the burning metal she squeezed her trigger and sent a bullet skimming across her hair line!
The police did investigate to see if it was some elaborate plan to get rid of her - how much of a genius would you have to be to pull that one off?
When they got divorced, she got the Beretta

Crazy thing is when I turned 9 my step dad tried teaching me gun safety with a pellet rifle. I remember thinking not to tell him and let him be the dad he wants to be. I'd gone deer hunting and shot lots of animals before that. Squirrel, raccoon, fox, you know all the varmit animals and deer. He tried showing me how powerful the air pellet gun was by shooting a news paper. I'd shot countless animals before at point blank to put em down fully. I KNEW what real guns did. But he had a fun time that day being a dad and I'm glad for it.

I searched but didn't find any thread like this...
There are many people here who would travel to different cities, states, countries...
And not everyone knows about everything!
Yes, there's Google, you can search, check reviews...
But wouldn't it be better if we could have some 1st hand information here?
So that someone traveling somewhere new doesn't get harassed unnecessarily...
Also, we could have posts describing the specialties of your region/zone...
Anything social, political, cultural facts...
This could help a lot of people when need be...
If there's anything wrong in it, mods feel free to close the thread... but i just hope we could help each other with a lot many things this way...

The UK is the armpit of Europe. If you come here you will get ripped off by everybody, not just taxi drivers. The beaches don't have sand..or sun for that matter. We specialize in going out on weekends playing catch the STD and throwing up on pavements.
Most of the population think Eastenders is the height of cultural entertainment and our politicians take it in turns every few years to see how hard they can screw the working man over.
You'd be better off going on a camping tour of Pripyat than taking a holiday in the UK.

I'd talk about my City...
Kolkata (earlier Calcutta) is an old Indian Capital City ( Now the Capital Is New Delhi)...
When the British ruled India, calcutta was their capital... So there are some pretty old British monuments, architecture etc...
It is a lazy city... The average summer temperature has been on the rise, it goes to a max of about 45 degree Celsius...
A drop in temperature below 20 degrees is supposedly winter time here!
We have great rains in July-August that floods a few regions...
The population of the city including its suburbs is about 15million! Wherever you go, you'd see people people people!!
There are some nice places to visit, i'll try getting some pics sometime later...
People in general are nice, but you see, there are every kind of people everywhere...
Politically, the communist party was in power from the 70's till a year and a half back...
It's an old, lazy life-style city, will glimpses of sparks during the festive season!
Will post some pics of the festivity that went on last week... it's majestically beautiful
If anyone plans coming to Kolkata (Calcutta), do drop a message to me for sure!

Darjeeling, Sundarban are nearby places worth a trip!

After a day LARPing around in hundred acre woods near Boarhunt, we went to the Ship Inn for a drink, when one of the guys said "Don't look, but that guy at the bar used to be in the Monkees"
Of course we all turned around then realised we didn't have a clue what anyone in the Monkees looked like, so Davy Jones was safe.
Bergen, Norway. The wettest place in the universe. We like to spend our time in front of computers, and being social means to spend $300 on overpriced beer and pizza. At summer time, a million eggshell white norwegians like to migrate to the south of the equator with our best buds, the swedes, and getting drunk and smashing things (much like the brits). We repeat this twice a year; summer and winter.
We also love to whine about everything.
Welcome!
