European Moto Froyo 2.2.1 leak - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi,
I've got Froyo on my Milestone by update on 07.01.11. At a time i've known that Froyo update is coming, and was thinking that its global update. Since it looks it is not, I've made nandroid backup. The firmware version is SHOLS_U2_05.25.0, so a bit older than Asia one. But the firmware configuration version is European (i don't know if it changes anything).
It is pure unbranded android 2.2.1.
As i cannot even post links, here they are in raw format anyone repost it.

any reboot issue??

Nope. I'm using this system version for almost 3 weeks, and don't have any problem. As I believe all 2.2.1 features work correctly, battery lasts for 16-30h with 3G and synchronization on all the time.
There are only some small issues:
- SMS over 160 signs sometimes get mixed up - (but im not sure if this isn't operator issue)
- light sensor sometimes stops working (changing to max brightness, and back to auto solves issue)
- installing too much apps slows system seriously (i think it's lack of ram)
Supported languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Greek(? im unsure, but probably) and Chinese (at least i think so)

Mirror created.

downloading now... feedback later
Thanks
P.S. maybe better to place in development section.

worked fine till now, need to play a little bit more with it..
Edit: Arabic is not supported even in the browser

There is one thing that makes me wonder.
It's my phone.
The thing is that I've got this soft as normal Motorola Update, through the network. Update was around 70 MB in size (system.img is around 170 MB), and it didn't erase any app or data.
If that was mistake by Motorola it's moreover strange, because first I've ignored update for couple of hours (didn't want to do it with low battery), and they've kept asking me every 30 minutes if i want to install update.
Anyone can explain me why I've got this update, and others not?

Possibly as a test push to a limited number of users to see if there are any issues that people notice (that are bad enough for them to call Motorola or their carrier) and to make sure that the updates are working, before the roll it out to everyone else. Kinda like google does on the nexus one.

What about country from android2.2.1 was leaked?

Supported languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Greek(? im unsure, but probably) and Chinese (at least i think so)
Firmware configuration version says it's EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), but there are not any Middle Eastern or African languages. No Eastern European languages too. So it's probably Western European version.
It leaked in Poland, Era operator. But the phone comes from UK, so it may be UK leak.

Can I use it on РСТ(Legal Russian) Milestone?
No problems?
PS
Poland - east europe country, no?

Poland is in Central Europe (at least they say so to us ).
Here it looks as they've counted it with West. It's strange that there is Polish language version, but no Czech, Slovakian etc.
Btw. I have no idea if it will work in Russia, but probably should work correctly.

its a nandroid backup, so you need to extract (unzip) the content into nandroid/openrecovery/"content"
then use open recovery to restore it after wiping the whole thing..
follow this link.. as its fully supported, the same subject but Asia Pacific leak

hope this will help

Where I can get proper "update.zip" for this nandroid backup? Or the vulnerable recovery for 2.2.1? Cuz when I try to get into OR, my phone says:
... bla bla bla ...
"E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD.
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted".
And it fails.

That's because you do not have vulnerable recovery installed to run OR. What's your bootloader version?
These links may help.
Vulnerable recovery : http://android.doshaska.net/rootable
Bootloaders : http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone#bootloaders

I have one more question.
On stock 2.1 I had a nice feature with ringtone. I could change it level by volume + and - buttons, and it had three steps. 1st was normal ringtone, 2nd - only vibra, 3rd - silent. Now, in 2.2.1 I have only normal ringtone and only vibra. Does Motorola remove it in froyo?
Or anyone know how can I make it to work again.

[Q] Note doesn't get updates

I know there are many threads asking the same question, and I've looked through many, but still haven't find an answer to my problems.
Just to clarify, my phone is not rooted, nor flashed, and I'm planning to leave it that way as long as possible, unless I really can't find any other solution for upgrading my phone
I've bought my phone in December, sim free, at mobile phone store in Serbia, and judging by the manuals language that I got in the box, its most likely imported from Hungary.
As soon as I've powered it on and connected to internet, I've got an update (OTA), which I installed as soon as I got home and plugged the phone to charger. Since then, I haven't got a single update, whenever I manually check I get "No updates!", and Kies says I have latest firmware, but im stuck on KK5 :S
It not big deal for now (even though I see that many people report improvements in newer firmwares, and I would also like that), but what about the ICS upgrade that will come in next month or two ?
Is there any way to force update, without flashing it manually or rooting the phone, or I'm stuck with this for good?
Is there anyone I can contact regarding this question who can give me any estimations ? Who is responsible for updates for sim free phones ?

If samsung have not still released new Firmware for your area, you won't get it.
Samsung never announce regarding release date for any ROM, Any region. You have to just wait till you get it.
Nobody can give you exact date of ICS release. wat we hearing is you can consider as Rumor.
You have always option to update your device manually. You can find all details in links of my signature.
May be CEO samsung Mr. H. B. Lee can answer, but i dont know how to contact
Thanks for your reply!
Well, I've read all your tutorials for now, and I will use them when I decide to start with rooting + flashing
What about that region changing ? There is no possibility to change region and get updates ?

Ya, you can change the region, but you'll wipe your phone.
Sorry to hijack the thread.
my 'about phone' is exactly the same as OPs, to the last detail. My handset was bought in the UK, and is unrooted as yet.
I'm on XEU csc and as far as I'm aware, I SHOULD have had an update by now? yet it still has not arrived. is this normal for a UK note XEU with KKA kernel/ KK5 baseband?
many thanks.

How do I do that, and what is the best region to choose ?

@turshija
i am also still on KK5. I am not sure what you expect from new update. Until official ICS update, you only can expect some small things, like safety patches. What i red on forums, latest update have only changes on keyboard (added numbers), and for me its not something special.
You will lose your warranty if you root your SGN, and i agree with you to not flash the phone during warranty period. Its not so cheap toy
On other hand, when i bought my alternative phone 2 years ago (HTC HD2), i installed Android after few days, because Windows made me felling like a grandfather. I am still playing with my HD2 after few hundreds times flashed ROMs, and now i am on ICS...and still enjoying my HD2 flashing and playing )), but comparing with SG Note, HD2 must be alternative phone
P.S. - We have absolutely the same version of SGN
@turshija and @tanzemyu, I too have identical version to you. Mine was bought from carphone warehouse in UK. At the last OTA upgrade (to 2.3.6 KKA) my phone wasn't rooted at the time, and I got it OTA - but a couple of weeks after the update was announced for carrier-free phones. I think it's therefore likely that CPW are for some reason holding up the OTA upgrade.
When 2.3.6 was out but I hadn't got it OTA, I looked into trying to change my CSC in order to get the OTA update but I found that CPW have put a non-changeable sales code on my phone "CPW" and I don't have the option to change the CSC.
As I'm now rooted I'm going to flash the update myself when I get around to it (as I think you lose root if you do an OTA??) - but IF you also bought from Carphone Warehouse, it's maybe worth you waiting anther week or too just in case an OTA upgrade does eventually arrive (I can't see why it wouldn't?)
Mine is identical. And it's from phones4u.

I installed it on my Note 4 and I can say that it feels more stable now.
No more "contacts has stopped", camera preview (right after taking a picture) is fast, no more waiting.
Do not disturb and the old "sound profiles" are back.
Overall the device seems more responsive.
Installed over BOB4 without data wipe, only Cache wipe from recovery.
Confirmed by SamsungNL: CSC is specific for the Samsung Experience Store!

If i flash over stock rooted lollipop i maintain root?
Looks amazing, bloat free.
First of all, we say that the software is now marked N910CXXU1BOC3 and continue to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Changes are few, but the most important is the return of the "Mute", which somehow disappeared in Lollipop. I also noticed that the interrupt function is now called Do Not Disturb and is used to mute all calls, notifications and alarms outside the defined exceptions. Certainly improved liquidity and contacts startup speed, switch between the dialer and contacts or gallery, which now opens much faster. I can also confirm that other users who also noticed that finally Lollipopie run applications that previously throwing error. I also have the impression that the light beam has undergone a facelift notifications. You do not have this feeling that changed the brightness icon on the toolbar? The battery is difficult to say anything, but I sincerely hope that there is no longer a delay after the call is answered, and finally the GPS to work properly (does not sever the connection).
After this update finally the lag when pressing the multitasking button is gone!

Guys, I know this is maybe little off topic. But I think I can get your opinion on this. I have a problem while calling, I have a little call volume so I have to set call volume at highest volume, but when I do that, my speaker does absolutely terrible cracking sounds and during call I can literally hear that annoying buzzing noise like the wind or how to describe that...it is really annoying while talking to someone. It does that even while ringing and waiting for someone to pick up. It is not my provider fault I tried in another phone (and the signal is full) I am on stock 4.4.4, network is set on Auto (3g/2g) because when it was on auto (4g/3g/2g) my battery went down in minutes....do you have any idea? Thank you...
I consider this firmware the fastest on any Samsung phone. I am more than happy that a Samsung can be fluid like a HTC.

He is brazilian, so I guess he's got a D5833 unit.
Then it's better he flashes one of the last stock rom for D5833.
In Flashtool he should make a wipe of userdata by clicking both the wipe items before flashing.
Downgrading with old userdata gives always many issues (bootloop included).
Probably he has problem with the English language. So, let's be kind guys
I can also speak Portuguese, @nelsonjosecruz you can write me in your own language via private message if you like :good:

P8 LITE 2017 Firmware update fails!

Hello, im having issues with updating the firmware of my phone to a later version.
Current version is PRA-LX1C02B139, but after installing the new PRA-LX1C02B140 version, phone restarts and deletes the downloaded files, and stays at PRA-LX1C02B139.
Im a complete newbie to this, first "real" smartphone I ever got. Id like to avoid rooting, at least until my warranty is voided.
EDIT
The B140 update just rolled out, im expecting the rest to come out soon, and this one works
I have a problem too , i have middle east version i downloaded from carbon tesla b125 update ( im on b120 ) and i tryed to flash it, lt failed but when i reboot it gives me error msg that vérification has failed and choose to continue booting or going to recovery, hopefully its not a bootloop the phone works but every time i reboot i get that msg and it sucks i hate it lol
i've got my p8 lite 2017 today, and i've got the same problem, there's an update, but it does not install ... i've downloaded it completely, rebooted my phone ecc.
but the update ist not installed at all

I can answer, because the same happens to me .
From the settings menu, there is an update to the PRA-LX1C02B140 version.
You can download and update, but after restarting the phone, the current version of the phone is always PRA-LX1C02B139.
Mine is a brand Vodafone Italy.
The phone works perfectly, but it's annoying.
Greetings
hi, we can't upgrade with downloaded package like before....
The downloaded package can only be used to uncompress some files (like boot.img) but, not for restoring the firmware.
It seems that Huawei (or nougat related) introduce a validation while installing new firmware (wich is done when you make an OTA but not while using 3 buttons methods)
So maybe someone will discover something but for now, we have to live with OTA update.....
Hi there, I'm having exactly the same issue and I have a Vodafone Italy unit too. Additionally the phone keeps notifying me about the new version, which is really annoying. Any solutions?
guys I tryed to boot on the fastboot mod and it says bootloader unlocked FRP locked , what the hell ??? does that mean my bootloader is unlocked ? my phone is new and I never tryed to unlock the bootloader, can any one try please and tell if he get the same result ??

Hello, im having issues with updating the firmware of my phone to a later version.
Current version is PRA-LX1C02B139, but after installing the new PRA-LX1C02B140 version, phone restarts and deletes the downloaded files, and stays at PRA-LX1C02B139.
Im a complete newbie to this, first "real" smartphone I ever got. Id like to avoid rooting, at least until my warranty is voided.

Same problem here! Any solution?
I have a solution... You need to make the update while having an Vodafone SIM card inside the phone...
Worked in my case, seems each operator might have slighty diferent updates.

Any chance you can ask for a worldwide fix? Bosnia and Herzegovina's Huawei team is a bunch of kids who fix everything by turning it off and on again..

Hi all. I have a simple question. Why in my p8 lite 2017 version, the part of the system called firmware occupy nearly 7Gb of internal storage? Thank you

Reset everything ??? Nobody has a solution of recourse !? I'm not going to spend two hours redoing everything !
No GPS problems or app crash with Maps and other GPS specific apps (every app tested for not less than 30 seconds).
Running 12.5.2.0 RKAEUXM (just updated) on genuine EU model.
I have the same problem. As soon as an app tries to get the GPS Position, the phone crashes/reboot
I tried already to install the full rom, after the OTA today in the morning. But I still habe the same Problem.
When I disable the GPS, I can open all Apps (f.e. Google Maps). When GPS is activated ... the phone crashes.
I hope a fix will arrive soon. How can we report the bug to Xiaomi?
In addition if by doing a complete reinstallation it does not actually work it becomes very problematic especially on a phone of this price! Hope the problem will be resolved quickly. In any case if a charitable soul has info on an update repairing the problem or a manipulation to be done I am a taker. thank
I confirm with a full reset and reinstall same problems
sh*t rom update...
Try to make english language or deactivate GPS position. For now i use english language and all works well.

Sorry, only works on twrp. If you are on stock think about moving to Xiaomi EU ROM. It all works ok on the latest weekly version I flashed today.
Hello, i got the 12.5.2 ota update yesterday in germany. All Apps that are using the locationservices are crashing. Turning of the locationservices fixes the crash. The only thing that is working, so that you can use the locationservices is to change the language like written in the postings above to English.
Yesterday I read about the issue in forum postings from the miui 12.5 beta\not stable versions that's are written in the beginning of 2021.
That means that the issue must be known. Maybe there is a fix from xiaomi in the next few days.

Do you own the genuine EU model, or have you flashed the EU Rom on a non-EU model?
Same bug as well with Italian language, confirm that setting in English UK seems to solve the problem...
I can understand that they involve mostly english user or test in english, but WTF it's alredy a skinned rom from the chinese version just do the things well...
From the information available on official websites, apparently MI 11 Ultra models have different GPS chipsets.
China: L1+L5 GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, Beidou
Global and EU: L1+L5 GPS, E1+E5a Galileo, G1 Glonass, Beidou
So the differences should be:
China models don't have dual band Galileo, only dual band GPS
China models have Japanese QZSS
Fix just released, only 9 mb but everything works correctly. Version 12.5.3.0.
For me the same ... but I think the fix is in the first step only for the people who send a "ticket" (Feedback) from the Mi 11 Ulta (in the Settings / Updatesection for MIUI / More / Feedback). Because the most people (german forum) did not get the fix.

It's due to a (known) oversight, that for instance was already experienced at the end of April on Mi 11 Ultra devices running CN firmware versions CN 21.4.14 and 21.4.21.
The crash is related to a fatal exception in the android.fg system process, which results in a DeadSystemException, that leads to crash & systemui reboot.
Such fatal exception is originated by a trivial java.lang.NumberFormatException for the LAT / LONG coordinate format = passing comma (,) instead of dot (.) as the decimal separator.
Temporarily setting into 12.5.2.0 RKAEUXM the system language to English US - while waiting for the minor 12.5.3.0 RKAEUXM update (9.2MB size) - is a workaround that allows indeed to keep on using also the GPS location service, precisely because it sets the device in order to use the dot (.) as the decimal separator.
