[Q] Bluetooth file browsing from PC - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to browse the filesystem in my Samsung Galaxy GTI9000 (eclair) using bluetooth. However, from the PC I can only see the directories, not the files, which is very annoying. Using the same PC I'm able to browse all the files in other phones without problems. Any ideas?

[Q] Stock Nookcolor file transfer problems

Yo all, first post here, thanks for this forum and all that has come from it.
My wife's Nookcolor is stock NOT rooted.
We want to transfer files from PC or Laptop to the NC without using USB - sideload. So I setup a little HTTP file server HFS (google to find it I can't post links)
which works great for PCs to transfer files easily over the internet.
Problem I can connect through the Nookcolor browser to the HFS server on my PC, but when I try to download I get
------
<Unknown>
68.111.111.250 (fake ip)
Download unsuccessful
------
I can download files via laptop connect to same HFS no problem.
I can download files via Nookcolor from internet websites no problem.
Google search shows a lot of people complaining about same issue, but I don't see any solutions especially for a Stock Nookcolor.

[Q] USB not recognised

Hi all
I have searched various forums and tried to access technical support from Samsung (very nearly impossible and no response as yet!!), but not come up with any help or explanation
I can transfer files via Kies and Dropbox, but don't always have access to a laptop, for example I might want to transfer some file digital photos from my camera or share some files with another person
any ideas please?
Look into airdriod.

When you transfer files you used kies WiFi or Kies application on your PC.
Download the USB Samsung drivers from the Odin threat, and activate the USB debugging mode at the developer settings.
I'm used this and works.

[Q] ARHD and Mac

Hi, has anyone been able to get the Android File Transfer app working with ARHD ROM? The app cannot see the phone when plugged in. I use HTC`s software, but file transfer there does't work for me either (I can see the phone storage contents, but I cannot copy anything to or from the phone) Is there any other free option to transfer files (or ideally sync iTunes library with Android phones)?
Thanks for your time!

Can't see Internal Storage>DCIM>Camera from my PC

Any photographs that I take with the cameras on my N6 are placed in the directory Internal Storage>DCIM>Camera.
However, when I connect my phone to my PC, I cannot see this directory in Windows Explorer on my PC - all I can see is Nexus 6>Internal Storage>DCIM (which has a subdirectory .thumbnails in it).
It doesn't make any difference whether I have the phone set to "Use USB for File Transfers" or "Use USB for Photo transfer (PTP)".
However, if I use ES File Explorer Pro on my phone, then I can see the Camera subdirectory (and I can see the .JPG files within that directory). I can also use ES File Explorer to copy the .JPG files from the Camera directory into a new directory that I have created in Internal Storage. I can then see this new directory (and the copies of the .JPG files) in Windows Explorer on my PC.
Any suggestions as to how I can get my PC to see the Camera directory?
(Phone is a Nexus 6, rooted, running 6.0.1 MOB30D and Cataclysm. PC is running Windows 10).
boo in twrp recovery, connect phone to pc,mount internal storage and see whether you can see on pc or not.

Thanks. Yes, that works - I didn't even need to mount the Internal Storage. I can see the Camera directory and copy files from it to my PC.
Not sure what that tells me, though.
I use this app Media.re.scan. Depending on how a file is saved the media journal may not be updated which makes certain things not see the new files namely MTP and PTP functions in android. Run that app and tell it to scan and it'll make all new files show up.
I have a Samsung np700z series running W10 with 2 USB 3.0 ports and a 2.0. I've always had trouble with the 3.0 ports on W7 W8 and ten. They work fine for anything else except cause the problem you describe. Using my 2.0 I don't have nearly as much trouble. I know the Samsung hardware and windows has this issue and it's never been resolved. Sometimes it takes a few plug unplugs and sometimes it doesn't recognize it right away. This problem has persisted from a note 2 to N6, from KitKat to N which leads me to believe it's not the phone or phone OS. Fwiw.

Phone not seeing files moved from PC

I just got the Prime R1 HD 16gb today and did TWRP and root. The only issue I've had is for some reason if I move a file onto the phone from my PC with a USB cable, it wont show up. E.G. If I move a file to my downloads folder, it wont be there, but if I download the same file through the phone from the internet it works. I can still see the files I've moved onto the phone from the PC if I use a file explorer, but it wont let me do anything with them. I tried going into the TWRP menu and switched the system off of read only thinking that may help, but it seems to have not done a thing. Complete beginner when it comes to this kind of thing if it isn't obvious. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar to the mtp "bug" Android has had for years.
The media storage database does not update when files are added from mtp.
Some work around that are listed are to use USB transfer instead. (Not used that one before)
Disconnect usb cable clear the data if the media storage app and force close it, then reconnect usb is should rescan the media and rebuild database.
Or just a reboot(I have done this and it usually works)
