[Q] Change Font? - Android Themes

Can some one please explain to me how to change the fonts on my HTC Eris? Do I need to metamorph or is this something different?

This answer assumes you have root privelages on the phone.
All metamorph does is replace the current /system/fonts/DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf with a different font (named the same).
You can also manually update the 2 afformentioned fonts in /system/fonts. You will need to name them as indicated above and reboot your phone.

Check out my font thread (link's in my sig). If you're rooted, they should work for you.

Do I just put the font zip onto my phone and use metamorph? I do have root access I just need to know how to flash it to my phone.

If you're talking about my zips, they don't use metamorph or anything - you want to flash these through recovery

so i just boot the phone into recovery and apply the zip?

exactly - you should have the option to "flash zip on sdcard" or something simailar

Why not try the app type fresh? I used that to change my fonts. It's really easy all you do is find the fonts you want and just use the app to change them.

Help! Can't change fonts with froyo

I used to change fonts easily before froyo using the Root Explorer method but with Froyo when I reboot the N1 after changing the fonts it will get infinite loops!!
Is there any solutions to change fonts under froyo?
Works fine for me using metamorph.
Is it easy to do a font pack for metamorph?
If you want one of the fonts in this zip it's very easy:

As far as adding a font and having metamorph recognize it in an xml and apply it, I'm clueless.

I havent tried it on Froyo, but when I was running cyan 5.0.6 I replaced one of the fonts in the skaggz zip with a different one I wanted to use, applied it with metamorph and it worked fine. There was no need to edit any files unless I had wanted to change the name, but I just left it unchanged and my new font had the name of the one it replaced.

i'm on froyo 2.2 rooted is it easy to use adb to insert some fonts to system and another file to lib???
There is fontpacks in ZIP format. Or you can wait for system overlay to get to 2.2 (if the current version dont work on 2.2, im not sure).
You can take a look in this thread with flashable font, just flash them from recovery like any zip/rom. Tried and working with CM 6, but im sure they work with 2.2 sense to.

The flashable zip fonts works on sense 2.2 too, om using it right now!

No, you don't need to unzip those files. You just have to place those zip files in sdcard/data/com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker/themes

I'm having issues with my widgetlocker adding new themes. I've added themes before and they've worked fine but now it wont add any more. I've added the zip file, which has like 20 themes in it, into the location mentioned above. Then I go into widgetlocker and have the slider selection screen update the theme population. But it doesn't show any additional themes. What am I doing wrong?

If you have several themes in a zip, then you'll have to extract them.

Do I have to extract them and zip each one of them individually? Because I tried it extracted, with the actual folders for each theme in the correct directory, and still nothing happened.

Yeah, if the themes aren't in zip format, make a new zip (with Astro or something) and copy and paste the thenes inside. Widget Locker only loads up zip themes, but not themes within a zip.

Ok so I took all of the themes out of the larger archive and zipped them each individually, making sure that each zip had just the folder and the theme files within. Still nothing. I have no clue why these files arent being read.
**deleted**
so where do you download this theme?

You're not the only one having problems, i think everyone trying to help maybe misunderstanding the problem, or at least mine is different.
Once I have done the 1-5 I can choose a theme but the only thing that happens is that it adds an additional unlocker to my current setup, creating multiple unlock wigets.
There must be a setting somewhere that is not allowing the full theme to be applied.
for example if I install "droids on a wire" i get the unlock mechanism added to lockscreen (in additon to the one I allready had) but unthemed. It does not show the droids hanging just the base unlocker used in it; no background or anything other else in that theme. This happens on any theme I have tried to apply
what setting am I missing??
Screenshots of your device and what it supposed to look like would be very helpful.

I think I am having the same problem, although some it loads fine on others it shows the name of the new theme but shows an old preview of a stock locker. Even when I add it it will not change?!?

[FONT][WIP][HELP]Comfortaa font

so i've made a flashable zip of the comfortaa font, but for some reason it puts the phone into a bootloop upon flashing.
anyone wanna check the files out and point out what the problem is? thanks,
Cole
Are you rooted? If so, just use Custom Android Font or Font Installer from the Market. You will then have over 150 fonts to choose from, including Comfortaa.

Post above this is probably a better and easier option, but looking at the zip, I'd pull out the DroidSansFallback, Clockopia, and DroidSansMono , then flash and see if u get the same results.
I haven't investigated fonts too much in ICS, but in previous builds (gingerbread), the flashable font zip really just needed to have DroidSans.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf and Clockopia.ttf to replace your font.

i just tried to re-do it like 5 times in a row, took out the fonts mentioned, pulled a different updater script and update binary and still no luck :/
the steps i'm taking are,
1. build all the files in the correct folders
2. zip all the files compression method Store with winrar
3. put the files in my SignApk folder
4. sign the files
5. take the zip and install via recovery
then i just boot loop :/

You don't have to do all of that, unless you're just trying to do the script yourself as a challenge .
Find a working flash able font zip (check evo themes section), use 7zip to replace and remove fonts, and see if that works. If it does, then u can go script happy from there, knowing that those contents worked at least.

Hi,
how do I change the default Font on the HTC One? I tried Font Installer, iFont and Root Toolbox, but none of them works. My device is rooted btw.
Thanks!

Curious about this as well
i'm also curious about how this is possible..
My guess is that Sense is using it's own font from some HTC resources, rather than the usual Android system one. So the usual apps for switching this will be changing the wrong thing...
It'll probably require some Sense-decompiling stuff...
*Edit* well- maybe not. There's a whole bunch of Fonts in /system/fonts, maybe you're just changing the wrong one...
Try TrickDroid Roms Tweak package. There you can choose and install some Fonts.
You can change the default font before flash a custom rom.
I don't know how to make a update.zip so... here's my way(doing it on the PC).
1. Rename fonts which you want to use to;
"Roboto-Regular.ttf"
"Roboto-Bold.ttf"
"Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf"
"Roboto-Italic.ttf"
2. Open a custom rom with winrar.
3. Drag&Drop renamed fonts into system/fonts.
4. Flash.
If you use TrickDroid, skip 2,3,4 and do this;
1. Open TrickDroidThemes.zip with winrar.
2. Drag&Drop renamed fonts to additions/fonts/asap
3. Apply theme. (choose "asap", of course)
you can also disable the low battery beep sound
I hope it helps
