I have the HTC Pure unlocked. I had recently changed over from Fido to Rogers. At first everything seemed to work properly, but somewhere, some how things changed. I can no longer use my browser(internet explorer). It seems that everything else works. I can get my mail (yahoo and Hotmail), I can check my facebook and get a weather update. All of those things tell me that I am receiving a connection, but my explorer doesn't work. I have been trying everything. I even did a hard boot and restored to original settings. I inputted all of the normal settings, but still nothing. What am I missing? Why would it work before, but not now.
I have looked at the treads and post here to try and find something but haven't been successful.
this is one example of the different settings I have found and tried with no luck.

I also changed sim cards as well. I think (but am not 100%) everything went squirrely after I changed sim cards. Could this have something to do with the sim. When I got the card from Rogers I noticed it didn't gave the 3G labelling on there like the old one and inquired, but they told me that there is no difference in the cards.
Thanks in advance and if there already is a solution for this please re-direct me to it. I looked, but could not find the answer.
To further update, I have gotten another sim card, because I was told by the guy at Rogers that the sim I currently have is outdate. Today I have a new sim once again, but still have the same old problem. I have seen that there were a lot of views on this thread, but unfortunatelly no replies. I am sure there must be someone out there that knows what to do. I am open to suggestions.
Thanks.
OK, Just to let u all know, the problem is solved. I don't know how to delete the thread so I figured just put this up so I don't get any responces (like if that would actually happen, lol)

Hello everybody, I'm writing you from UK, where I bought a second-hand G1 (absolutely perfect!!! really good). The phone is T-Mobile branded and factory-default cleaned. Once I got it, placed my italian H3G sim inside, and (of course...) it told me that it was locked. I purchased a key (...I know may I could do without it... but very few time to spend, these days) and it was succesfully sim-free. Then I reebot it, and start the acrivation... that doesn' run!!! I insered the correct APN parameters, I also tried with a UK O2 and Vodafone sim, but, problem is that the gsm segnal level (small icon on the top with 4 vertical bars) is not giving signs of life, and it has a small "cross" on the left side. Of course I can't get the registration... I can't get the line!!!! why does it happen??? all the sims are correctly recognized (ask for the pin and the "no sim" messages and icons are off), but no way to go over...
Please, help me in any way, just 1 more day here, then I'll go back to Italy... far from the shop!!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!
If you type:
reboot
and press enter. If the phone reboots you can have a chance, if the phone does not it means its on a updated version which you will have to downgrade. While downgrading i recommend going up to Rooted versions of android. Although you might not need it.
You should look here:

and/or here:

You can get through your problem, if its just the registration. by simply following a few of the instructions in the first link combined with some of the instructions in the second link.
@elmejor: He didn't even mention rooting. His problem is he can't get his phone to associate with the networks on his sim.
@tony_m78: You should probably post what apn settings you are using. Also, this is NOT A DEVELOPMENT ISSUE and should not have been posted in this forum.
thanks gor your answer.... I have been to those links THOUSANDS of times, within yesterday night and today... but I really can't get a solution. I can't go over the "error connecting to server" page :-(
The worst problem is that I really don't have time NOW, but I'll have it at the end of the week; I know I'd get a solution, working on that... but really I can't. But whay do you think about the absence of segnal? is it normal?!?
Tomorrow morning I'll find the way to buy a T-Mobile original sim and try to see what happen. . . . . . but that's strange!!!!!!!! not normal... i insered a correct code (generated from the IMEI), the answer was "unlocked", free for others carriers.... BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!! :-( tic tac tic tac. . . ..I don't have time!!!!!!!! :-( nobody experience this strange problem?!?

...I don't think the problem is the APN, I set the correct one (from Wiki) for H3G Ita and for O2 UK (these are the sim I tried with); the problem is that the segnal is ZERO, like the sim is not present... BUT IT IS, it ask me for the pin and accept it....
Can you manually select the network to connect to? Settings>Wireless controls>Mobile networks>Operator selection
Are you sure radio is working on this phone? Maybe it has some physical problems (like bad gsm chip)... Or - maybe you have sim cards not acceptable in UK.
Try with T-mobile sim first. If not working:
I would try to factory reset device some times, if it don't help I would try to reflashing it (firmware and radio). But in your case I think you should ask about this situation in shop where you bought it (if you have warraty) first.
Data plan?
I had a similar problem when I got my APD1 phone in the US. When I returned to the UK, I put in my Tesco SIM and the phone signal strength icon had an 'x' indicating not connected or no signal. Eventually I used my home wifi to activate the phone. After the phone was activated, the same SIM was able to connect and the signal strength icon worked normally.
BUT, it turned out that all I probably needed to do was to have a SIM with a data plan (which mine didn't at the time) <<BLUSH>>
Have you confirmed that your SIM has data turned on?
Of course ensuring that the APN settings are correct is also necessary. (But it sounds like you did that)
Hi All,
I had a strange issue happen to me last night. but first some background. I bought a Bell locked phone and unlocked it to work under Rogers. It worked for well over a month without any problems. I never flashed any roms of anything like that, just rooted and unlocked it. All of a sudden last night the phone would not recognize my rogers sim card anymore. I tried to enter in the unlock code but it would not recognize it. I went to the APN settings and they were blank. Entereing the correct APN settings would not matter as they would not be saved.
I tried formatting the whole by doing a factory reset but that did nothing. I tried searching for fixes but the only thread i found that had any solutions was this one forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9069113#post9069113 - after pulling that file i found i did not have that paramater at all.
I now have no idea what to do and am stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

APN setting wont save
Hello
I have recently loaded the FRX04 updated os for my touch pro2 (rhodium) and cannot seem to get an apn settidng to save therefore cannot get a mobile network to work.
I am currently running off wifi but cant make outgoing calls or do pretty much anything with the sim card
I have tested two sim cards in the phone (which was originally on vodafone) but when it was running the windows platform it is fine with any network.
I read somewhere that it may be a bug in the mnc field which is why it wont save a new apn?
I have looked at downloading the SGS unlock tool but i dont think this is the issue
any suggestions will be appreciated
Newbie here to the forums, thanks to all who contribute; a magnificent effort by all and it's much appreciated :good:
My question is this; I have an O2X native to Fido Canada. I had unlocked the phone while on stock firmware. For a bit of fun I decided to try updating the phone with CM10.1. All went well (thanks in no small part to the guides in these forums,) but found the nightly version was giving me very poor battery performance. At the same time I used the phone briefly with my Rogers sim card. Calls and sms of course not a problem. But I tried to input the Rogers APN for data support, and I found it wouldn't save the new APN. Didn't think too much of it because I was going to downgrade to a stable version of CM anyways.
I downgraded to CM7. Fun and easy, happily going along I thought it was time to set the Rogers APN; again I couldn't save.
I downloaded Tweeker MMS app to automatically set the APN, what a great concept!!! However, it gave me an error saying I had no SIM installed and no gsm connectivity. Hmmmmm...
After some other playing around and scouring Google for answers, I came across the SIM PIN in settings-location and security. It shows that SIM PIN is set, though I've never had one. Even without a sim installed, it was asking for the PIN.
I tried a different sim without a PIN set, same thing.
Tried a factory wipe/reset. Same thing.
Tried a different ROM, revert to stock, uprade, downgrade. Same thing.
No matter what I do the Security is always set to have the SIM PIN, but it never asks me to put one in. It will not, however, allow me to set a new APN while this setting is there. Any attempts at changing the setting just result in "incorrect PIN".
Is anyone out there familiar with this glitch? Is it a baseband issue? Kernel? Poltergeist? Evil Gnome?
Any suugestions would be appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Hello,
I have problem with SIM card on my phone. I'm using Temasek's CM 10.1, Kowalski kernel, and V20I-EUR-XX baseband. When phone boots, I normally input my PIN, but it doesn't connect to network, I have to go to Mobile networks and Choose operator automatically, then it connects. I can call and send messages normally, but when the call hangs (me or the other side) it says SIM card error (something like that). Also I can't save APN. In APN settings there is nothing, and when I create APN manually, I input everything and press save, but it doesn't stay, APN's remain empty. I use micro-SIM with adapter, because my operator couldn't get me normal SIM at a time. I'm on Croatian provider VIP. Everything normally worked with micro-SIM from Tele-2 provider (although on CM 10, and CM 7, didn't test it on CM 10.1).
Is it related to my SIM card or SW (ROM or baseband)?

Not sure if you read my post, but I think we are having the same issue regarding the APN, etc.
Not been able to solve mine yet, perhaps together we can put out enough info that someone here can offer a solution? I haven't changed the baseband or kernel on their own, only went from stock 2.3.3, to CM10.1, then to CM7.2.
Are you able to remove the SIM PIN? If you remove the SIM PIN from security, are you able to save APN?
Does your phone access data with the native SIM card the phone was originally locked to?

It seems that PIN is already disabled in Settings-Security-SIM card lock settings :silly:
I called my old operator and they told me my phone was sold locked, and new operator told me they can't help because I didn't buy the phone from them. But then how it works now for calls and messages?
I don't have any other SIM with me so I can't test it with my phone. You say going back to CM7 didn't help? I guess I shouldn't try that then.
Maybe flashing stock ICS would? Any other suggestions?

I haven't tried stock ICS yet; maybe it would? I will try that tonight.
Mine shows the SIM PIN on, when I try to change it it asks for my old code, which I don't have of course, so I can't remove the security. Been hoping that someone else would have had experience or knowledge of what would cause the problem and have a solution or suggestion to try. The closest I came was on a different forum about a Sony Ericsson phone, but the rooting and flashing procedures are so much different I couldn't see a solution in it, though they suggested flashing the baseband iirc.
HMMMM, now that I read your reply, I can't say with 100% certainty that the phone was unlocked before I rooted and flashed CM10.1.....I had thought it was but perhaps it wasn't, and we are having a more similar issue than I thought. So the glitch, perhaps, is that it was not unlocked, the custom ROM somehow "half" unlocked it, and here we are stuck.
Okay, my only thought then is to take it back to stock everything, the most up to date I can find, then unlock it with code, and see if I can change the APN at that point. If so, I will root it, use My Back Up Root to save settings including APN (just in case so at least I can restore it that way if I can't do it manually, after)flash CM10.1 again or another fabulous custom ROM which is what I really wanted in the first place
I will try that tonight, and post you the results. Let me know if you have any (better) suggestions as well, I'm up to try almost anything at this point. Was hoping to upgrade to this for my daily phone as I'm limping along with a Acer Liquid MT that has seen better days
If anyone has a link to quickly point me towards the latest stock ROM etc. and wants to post here, I would be much obliged Might save this noob a few hours scratching his head to find what is most certainly in front of my nose already, but I digress...
Cheers
New baseband
I just flashed V30A baseband, and it didn't help. We can cross that from the list.
Well colour me confused...and happy?
I just today picked this project up again, about to attempt a different fix, again...*sigh.
Lo and behold, i insert my sim and power on the phone, and it asks me for network sim unlock.....odd because I'd used the phone with this sim before, through all my other testing, flashed different roms, etc. etc. In fact, I've used the phone on this very package, I know because there are sms messages on the phone from using it. Battery pull, remove sim and check, yup sure enough, old messages there. Hmmm...
Insert sim, reboot, asks for unlock code again. Well, what have I got to lose at this point right? As I said before, I THOUGHT I had unlocked the phone before starting this whole debacle, but wasn't 100% certain about it. Searched my email for the code since I always save them, couldn't find it. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound I suppose. Bought a new unlock code, waited for it to arrive. Input new unlock code, unlock successful!!
Reboot phone....waiting for service....(this seems like forever!!! In reality, less that 60 seconds.) Alas, I have service. And now, just to tempt fate, Apps->settings->wireless & networks->more->mobile networks->access point names..........:fingers-crossed:
I can hardly believe my eyes, there it be, Rogers Internet apn selected. It even auto-detected the damn thing!!
I can offer no further insight, I don't believe I physically did anything to arrive at this remedy. But there you go, for my part at least it's solved.
Hi all,
I'm using a global, carrier-free, unlocked S21 Ultra updated to the latest OneUI and am having an issue I can't find an answer to.
There are no APN options at all, I can't even add one or reset to default, it just tells me, "access point name settings are not available for this user". Everything besides MMS works but I can't edit anything. When I take out the sim and re-insert it, the proper APN's show up for about 5 seconds and then disappear. It's as if the phone rejects them after receiving them?
I'm on US Mobile. The sim works fine in an iPhone and OnePlus, MMS included, no tweaking involved. My better half has an older Galaxy and the MMS won't work on hers either. I have to assume it's the phone(s) considering it receives the APN and the it works fine on others.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm reaching out to US Mobile but one of the posts I found when searching around said they never figured it out and got a new phone, so I'm not too hopeful. I see they have a Galaxy specific list of instructions, which I've gone through, but it didn't change anything.
I'm have same issues where Apn settings are missing. SMG998U ON straight talk.
