[Q] No android market on flashed Gingerbread 2.3.2 - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Flashed Cyanogen's Gingerbread 2.3.2 onto my Hero and I dont have the android market loaded and cannot get a working copy. I dl 2.2.6 and 2.7 and when I try to start it, I see a white screen briefly, then it closes itself. Anyone know. Where I can dl a working market?

From the same post that you got the ginger zip from. Gapps.

You need to flash a file called gapps. short for google apps. it has the android market, maps, etc. Let me know if you have other questions.

Did you flash a gapps zip along with the rom? You might want to do that by looking in whatever thread you got the rom from as they usually put a link to some gapps there too in the OP. Here is a new market.apk: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34781949/Market-3.3.11.apk
Use a file manager like ES, Astro, Root Explorer, File Manager, etc. to install it and you should have it. Easy peazy.

Hi guys,
Atrackdog just gave me a new result for facebook apk, named 1.1.1 .. obviously it is not available on the market yet, but I remember the same thing happened with the 1.1.0 version "coming" from the droid...
Does anybody know where's this version coming from?
Maybe from the 2.0.1 update Verizon customers received.
Yes...that could be it...
I just wonder why in the world they don't release these updates in the market..they know they are working even on 1.5 or 1.6 devices...

They might know but that doesn't mean it has been officially tested and supported on 1.5/1.6. Those are two VERY different things.
hmmm wonder if anyone gonna post it
so i found a dump of the update and checked it and yea there is a updated facebook apk in there .. tried installing it on my g1 running cyan latest but no luck .. i cant even push it into the system builds .. gonna mess around with it a little more and see what happens
Yes! Great! Keep us updated then...! Thanks for that ;-)
Alright i have tried and tried but nothing .. here is a link to the dump for those who wanna give it a shot

Sounds like a sentence!
You're the man!
You can't use the normal one because it's ODEX'd.
I ran it through the deodex script -> Here is the new De-Odexed Facebook.apk (v1.1.1) View attachment Facebook.zip
RENAME IT FROM Facebook.zip to Facebook.apk (DON'T EXTRACT IT)
Now when you try to install it'll say it's not for this version of the phone. You're probably going to need to change your build.prop file to show SHOLES just like before the new Google Maps came out...

will that script work with any odex'd apk? For instance, I love the world clock from hero, but cannot stand the lag from the rom. would that work?
I used the terminal to install the app.
install /sdcard/backups/facebook.apk /system/sd/com.facebook.katana.apk
it didn't give me any errors, that should mean it work... right?
Well, I don't notice a difference, is there supposed to be one?

It works on some things... Like the MyFaves didn't work. It seemed to work on the facebook apk. I pushed it also into the /system/app but it won't show in the apps dropdown. I then tried to place on the sdcard and install with App Manager but it says "not for this phone" or something like that. Might have to change the build.prop to show the SHOLES keys instead. But it looks like the APK itself is ok.

this one is the new facebook apk 1.1.1 ..pulled from the new droid update verzion just sent out .. however it wont install ..... ( at the moment )
Anybody being able to install this on a magic/dream then..?
I keep getting the same error "cannot install app on this phone" i guess for now I will stick with version 1.1.0....hopefully someone will find a fix for 1.1.1
The g1 has incorrect testkeys for 2.0 apps. You will have to edit the build.trout.prop, as was needed to get navigation to work. I do not know what other problems will come from doing this though. For me, even with replacing to old build.trout.prop, and erasing all traces of maps, I could not download the new version from the market without a wipe.
so i guess for now there is now "easy" install on a Mytouch/Magic for version 1.1.1 as it was for version 1.1.0.........
Is it even worth installing? Other than the extra ".1", does this version have anything we might want over 1.1.0?

Flash 10 available now...only for Nexus

Adobe.com won't download to a non-Nexus. Anyone have a link to the apk to see if we can install on G1?

I would think it would need 3d drivers and froyo to work which we don't have. The rendering is done by the graphics card for flash.
Yeah, it's really 2.2 that's required...
I doubt it's 2.2 since it has only been released to SDK so far. It hasn't actually been released as a ROM yet.
from what i read is that you need the new market in order to download it. and the new market is only available for the nexus as of right now. we need someone to port that over to even download it. then someone can try to port over flash10

This is for my G1/Mt3g buddies. This is now available on the market for 2.2 users (currently only Nexus one).
If you guys wanted to try and getting working (And yes, you have to have 2.2 to use this) you could try it, it's also available on the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686736
How nice. Personally I'll wait until someone ports FlashBlock to the Browser before installing this........
In the meantime, get-flash-videos is always an option.
thanks...
...for posting this in inside xda-developers > HTC Dream:G1 > G1 Apps and Games...
I know everyone wants it!
Bah, G1 is getting set on the back burner again. "Not Enough Storage" we'll show them and get the Froyo working better on the sophisticated G1 then on the N1!
Someone get busy and make me a 2.2 rom! ;D

Anyone brave enough to try the G2x Swype.apk? (See post #8)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051812
I would try it but don't want to mess up my 2.6 installation.

Just tested it. When installing the apk, it says "Application not installed" so it won't overwrite.
I uninstalled my version (2.6) and installed the new version (2.26 I think). Trying to get into the settings is an instant force close.
If anyone has any idea how to get the new version working, that would be welcome!
ive been getting some reports that the other links are no good, so heres a working one.

I cant seem to get it to run at all with phiremod 6.1? any suggestions?
installed, but I can't choose it, it doesn't appear in the Nookcolor Tools keyboard settings. Anybody know how?
btw I PAID for slidIT and it stopped working when I reflashed. they said I would need to pay for a new license every time I reflashed. they are thieves.
The version linked here is the one that works and I'm using it now. But still it's a rather old version. A number of terrible bugs that still exist in this version have already been fixed in the proper beta. I'd love it if there were a way to take the most recent beta and make that work on the Nook instead.

which OS are you running on your nook? what did you do to install it? it installs for me and I can select it in settings but only android keyboard comes up always.

Stock rooted 2.1, downloaded from the links above, installed with Astro, sucessfull
pretty good swype in this download. Works and it is better than stock or slideIT.
Finally figured it out you have to select it in settings AND then hit the little circle at the bottom left of the android keyboard and select it there too. Hooray for swype !!! When it finally gets to market I will buy it. I missed it so much ! BTW did I mention that the slideIT butholes are thieves?
I can't choose it in settings first :/
I think it can't be done in stock eclair..

accidentally uninstalled the market

Hi guys,
I have a rooted nook color, and I accidentally uninstalled the android market using Titanium. I was trying to install Adobe Flash, but I was getting a message that Flash is not compatible with my device, so I read in a forum to uninstall the market and downgrade the market app to the previous version.
Well, after uninstalling it, and downloading the apk for the older market version, it force closes when I go to open it. Does anyone have a link to a market apk that will work?
Sorry, I'm new to this

How exactly do I reflash the google apps?
check around for the google apps zip file. there are a few floating around. i will see if I can find one and post a link. but, once u have the zip file, put it on your sd card and boot to recovery, then install the zip file via recovery.

Hi, I'm new here, so please have mercy. This exact same thing happened to me. I went to the site below and since I flashed MN 4-5-18 and 4-6-16, I though I should download, at the site linked to above, the CyanogenMod 4 google apps. Is this correct?

I think you'll always want the CyanogenMod 7 gapps. I believe the CM version #s correspond to the Android version... Honeycomb is CM8, ICS will be CM9, etc.
