[Question] How can i install new rom and root ?

Guys i recentelhy buy a samsung galaxy s , i had a htc wildfire rooted but it seems with SGS thing are a little bit different.
So can you help ?

just flash CF-Root via odin, then clockworkmod, create a backup and try the romkitchen or darkys rom. best roms imo

Well the simple answer is look at page one of Darkys posts where oddly enough the instructions are written as how to flash his rom .
Bit of advice dont flash until you really understand what you are doing unless you want to join the IBSGS club short for i bricked my galaxys an now it does not work .

Shouldn't that be IBMSGS club?
This is becoming way too common. Flashing before reading.

I dont want to brick my phone, if that happens i will cry like a b*** xp I will do step by step

You should look out for Darky's ROM, best ROM out there! It makes your SGS so damn fast
They even have a great step by step tutorial on how to root/flash your SGS. Don't have the link by hand, you should look out for it ^^
One advice: Never ever flash the official 2.2 Update from Samsung. My phone was nearly turned complete useless because I had since then terrrible performance problems...

What rom..

I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000M JL2 froyo 2.2. This is my second galaxy because the first one i had the internal sd died! I want to have a new fast ROM that is veryy smooth. I was about to flash Darkys when i came across seeARMS! now i am stuck beteen which one to flash. And when flashing the i9000M is there any secrets i should know to not brick or kill the sd again? thanks guys

why dont you flash both and see for yourself which one you like most ??? everyone has their own opinion on which ROM is the best... its all down to personal preference....
and as for the steps to take to avoid damage.... the only step i can advise is to read the thread carefully... any precautions will be on the thread so take your time... and try to learn how to 'unbrick' your phone first.... incase you run into any problems

Hi,
I install Samsung Leak ROM 2.3.3.
And I would like to install new custom ROM.
Can you recommend me what ROM I should install and what are the steps ?
I have Galaxy S I 9000

Best advice for you is to look around the Development section at what ROMs are available. All are very well made and the threads for them are usually very informative and give easy to follow instructions to allow you to flash the custom ROM.
You should be careful posting questions like this, some people may flame you a bit as they'll tell you that you should just look into the threads and learn

They post that stuff because someone who doesn't know how to get back to 2.2.1 shouldn't have installed 2.3.3.

should help you out abit mate, remember any 2.3.3 will not be completly stable,, im on darkys 9.3 Rom with 2.2.1 i think i wil wait till Gingerbread is official and a good rom like Darkys V10 is final before i make the jump.

Official gingerbread as of now .So it will be in the rom kitchens soon and adapted by the end of the week .
Best rom choice build your own in the rom kitchen .

Or read the threads on roms in Development and read the help posts on the forum to see which roms continually break phones .

yet another darky related problem !!
anyway. do a reboot and try to install again. darkys ROMs are quite big in size, therefor dont leave much space for apps..
i was a darky user myself but came across way too many issues.

Make sure Unknown Sources is checked.
Then try installing your apk.

i before flashing darky rom have a original rom and install 600 app in my phone without any problem
very bad darky cant solve this problem

Hi guys sorry for a noob question
My friend recently bought a galaxy s i9000 and it i on eclair . He wants to install MIUI ROM on this phone .
For that we need to be on 2.3.x firmware. . Can someone post the link of upgrading from eclair to gingerbread. Pls ?

Follow the instructions. Then go to MIUI thread and follow instructions there.
Or you can register to sammobile.com and download stock ROMs there. There are also flashing guides.

P.S. You could also use KIES for upgrade but KIES is just s**t
