Which 1 do you guys prefer ? In my opinion,I think LG need to work hard on it and update the camera quality of LG Optimus 2x :S
What do you guys think about it ? isn't possible to update the camera quality in LG Optimus 2x?
come on, first thing - camera is probably the last important thing on the LG and second, there is no info on how they set the camera app when taking pics.
I agree with mikulic, even if I read he exif data, i see that 2 cameras wasn't setted at the same parameters!
Second way, they compare 8mpx vs 5mpx, and Iphone had a better software of postproduction on board!
I think it has a good cam for general purpose, for better photo I take my reflex!
Well LG hasn't been known to produce good cameraphones. LG arena, viewty, etc.
Well I do hope they improve on the quality, as I do fancy myself in taking pictures.
I was a bit disappointed that the 2X had such a mediocre camera on it. Not only is the color off, but the pictures are a bit grainy or slightly blurry, even in a fairly bright light.
The camera can be improved with firmware updates, though. The G1 for example, had a few camera updates that improved the quality a bit.. Hopefully they do the same with this one.
(note: i'm not sure if it was actually an android update or a camera firmware update, but I believe it was the firmware)
To confirm that the problem is software related maybe you could try a 3rd party camera app from the market?
Of course it can be improved, anything can be. Heck It's not the final product either, so by the time of launch it could be better. However after launch, I find it unlikely that they'll send updates to improve the camera, if there are no bugs for the camera.

I went to check out the Samsung Focus, man! samsung sure is coming strong. It has way more options for the camera than the hd7, like contrast, brightness, micro, quality, and more.. I hope we get updates for our cameras. I recently did a picture test with the hd2 vs. the hd7. Hd2 pics are way more clear and much more detailed. Hope an update can give the HD7 the same quality. Or of course wait for the custom roms to roll out..
i pray htc updates the camera. the pink issues to lack of settings just shows us that htc spent almost zero time with wp7. the lg and samsung phones have better picture stability and fewer camera woes. i just stopped using the hd7 camera, the pink issues and u having to stand perfectly still to take a picture just pissed me off. so i am with u waiting for that update if htc ever releases one. somehow i think samsung and lg are more serious about wp7 than htc is.
Video and photo
I wonder wether its the actual camera or software thats causing poor video and camera quality. I hate the autofocus it makes the video/photo blurry.
I hope they bring an update firmware where you can manually choose if you want autofocus or not. Also when taking a photo of someone while they are moving the picture comes all funny, the camera frame rate and response is to slow. If they can improve the camera through update this phone will be a one of the top phone in the market I think?....
I believe they could make the camera better cause I know when I first had my HD2 the camera had its issues and after I had changed the rom on it with the camera updates, wow the quality was much better. So yes I agree once this camera gets fixed, definitely the hd7 will be up there.
Also about the comparison with the Focus, yes the focus has the vibrant colors but I would nt trade it for my HD7. And why would I need to see my screen from an angle anyways??
Hi guys
the camera quality of this phone is terrible, the image are always affected by blurry effects and low details and much noise.
Is it normal ?
There's a FIX for this ?
SW or HW issue ?
Thank U
No fix for now...

When I had my Lg p990 I was also trying to investigate the reason of the bad camera quality.
Then I read somewhere: Better have a goo quality camera with lesser MP then have a ****ty quality camera with higher MP.
My Nokia N95 8GB with 5 MP took better photos vs LG o2x P990 8 MP.
Another deal-breaker, I was actually thinking in buying p880.....
Thank you for saving me
We're relying on LG to fix this one.
By the sound of things it's a good camera that has been badly configured.
Ksekhar has done all that he can here, but the frustration got the better of him and he's abandoned the device.
Can't say I blame him.
Can't a third party camera app fix this?
I think that only changing lenses

..yes. It doesn't have overly advertised and expensive bloatware on it that drains the battery in a day no matter what you do. Never mind force you to use some proprietary solution to transfer any files onto it, while making it impossible to use external storage media
The camera default settings just aren't calibrated very well. If you turn down the exposure time so the "correction" algorithms don't try to mesh two completely different pictures, it's no worse or better than any other camera with a plastic lens.
Seriously, though -- how much do you guys think the camera modules in these phones actually cost?
It's not just bad calibration - its bad hardware. I attached sample shots of my old galaxy s2 and the lg optimus 4x hd.
As you can see, the galaxy s2 image is MUCH sharper and clearer - especially at the edges and the color reproduction is far better as well. That's not just bad calibration ...

But pretty sure the iso speed is the same on all those pictures.. If you try with the other presets, some custom fiddling, or just use the snap-function while filming -- you won't get the same blur in the picture.
So.. conclusion: the profiles probably would have worked perfectly fine on a super-steady hand, a tripod, and perhaps also in a world where light travels at the speed of sound or so.
(btw, not making the point that the camera is awesome. Just saying that you're not going to take very good pictures with a camera like this no matter what. It is, however, possible to take reasonably good mobile phone pictures - on this camera, just like any other mobile phone camera.)

@UIQrules: Actually I leant onto something when I took those picture - and I took 20 or so on the LG and chose the best. There is no way you can get the same results like with the Galaxy S2. There is better hardware in use with the Samsung phone. It has nothing to do with software configuration.
Acutally I think the Galaxy S2 pictures are pretty awesome - even by a compact camera point of view. The LG is fine for me, because I don't need the camera very often, but I can see why someone would change for another phone, because of all those high-end smartphones out there, the Optimus 4X probably takes the worst pictures.
*nods* agree with that.
But yeah, noticed the same thing. As steady as possible, and still getting the weird blur, even at close range and perfect lighting. Then I took a few "speed" shots, at the same resolution, and it went away. So I don't know what it is, but I suspect it has something to do with the way the picture buffers are used. Amazing that it would go through qa, of course, no doubt about that. It is, like you say, something you notice right away.
Hello people.
A friend in another forum wanted some info about the p880 wether to buy it or not and wanted me to imfom him about the weaknesses of the 4X.
One thing in my opinion : The CAMERA APP.
After exchanging pms he recommended me some other app for me to test in case there is an improvement.I tested the LG camera pro and these are my observations
1) The lighting quality is equivalent to the modded camera app v5, since i had the tweak installed i didnt see any improvement nor drawback.
2) This app has many options to choose from such as audio and video bitrate quality.
3) Most importantly it has an option in both photo and video capture to set the autofocus to your need.To mention some of that setting it includes auto , infinity m macro , fixed and others which seem to make the difference at least in my point of view.
There is nothing to lose and test it for yourself and see the results. No root required.

This a completely different app. The LG Camera Pro was developed for the LG G2X/Optimus 2X. It's a great camera app, although i do like the O4X modded stock camera app. AS far as changing the audioand video bitrate, you can also do that with the O4X's stock camera. Although, i believe you can only do it through the hidden menu. 3845#*880#
So does it work on the 4x?

The main feature i use it for is for the fixed autofocus option.
Quality is horrible, it's mad grainy

+1. Hence why i prefer the O4X's stock camera app.
yes at dark places the lg app makes better pics, today i see bad quality too... really grainy
I too agree that the stock camera is better.I use this only to record video with autofocus disable .

I just saw a phone yesterday Samsung Nexus Prime I9250 and the camera is almost same as our phone 5MP with LED flash. but the features and quality of the pictures capture by it was awsome. Then I checked it has update of Android 4.2.2. Its panorama shooting mode is awsome. Is that possible that we mode our default camera to that features camera?? And if anybody has done already then could anyone provide me link? I checked all the threads reg. camera but could not find it so, I created a saprate thread for that.
I suppose you're talking about the galaxy nexus. It has a better sensor. It is capable of capturing 1080P video and also, it performs better at low light.
There aren't any software mods which can totally compensate for hardware limitations. However, you could try installing certain camera applications and see if it helps you in any way.
And regarding the panorama you're taking about, it's called photospehere. As far as my knowledge serves, we do not have any mod for that.

Guys, I am planning to get this phone. From the reviews, I have seen about this camera and for the short time I had a look at all the pictures taken from the Vivo X70 Pro (not plus) I am quite impressed. There are a few reviews that pointed out some minor stabilization issues on front camera and other minor issues like the output of image quality at times slipping out.
I am just curious to know from the users about the general opinion on the photographic and video prowess of the phone and had there been any new updates/fixes to the camera software from October 2021 that might have improved the camera even further.
thank you all in advance!
Sany
I would like that there was the possibility of using the gimbal camera in external applications to be able to do stabilized live streaming.

The back camera is top of the line, in my experience better than most out phones out there, if not the best. Front camera is decent in 98% of the situations, it may under perform in some areas like when under direct light etc, but not as bad as people describe it in reviews. Overall, money well spent.

None as for as Funtouch OS is concerned. They have a huge scope to imporve on Software lines like Google Phone. But Vivo is very cautious about using its Camera Beast.
I tried horizontal line stabilization today and was amazed.
Holding the phone horizontally, walking without holding it straight, a stabilized video came out.

Not by a lot, origin os here, but not many things I would like to be changed. Improvements yeah, eventually they will come. But it is currently a beast!
They actually removed a lot of third party support in Ocean OS. No 10bit support, no stable 50fps, only main lens in filmic pro since the update. If you care about Filmic Pro and mcpro24fps Id suggest not to update.
The Vivo Camera is rock stable as ever but it eats A LOT of battery for video. If you use the normal camera app the phone is still a beast.
