di11i's v5.4 Stripped 1/31/2011 - Captivate Themes and Apps

Best ROM so far from the di11i team...
just flashed this ROM. awesome job on the review. Kudos to the dev team!!! di11i's 5.4 best ROM out so far! Blue or Green both look and respond wonderfully!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897416

I really like it too. I am new to the flash scene and roms. The first one I tried was Serendipity and I thought it was ok but now I'm addicted to flashing and di11i's is a way better rom IMO.

[Q] Which 2.1 ROM outta these 4?

Okay, Hi! 1st! (am new)
I did some research over at xda and which one of these will pay nice with my new G1?
SuperD | Chromatic | KiNgxKxlicK | Or Cyanogen
I prefer eye candy and apps... am a student. And a designer. What dya think?
SuperD is 1.6 ROM. SuperE is 2.1 ROM.
KingKlick made of lots of ROMs, I don't know to which one you are reffering now .
Cyanogen is something like base, master custom ROM. Only few try to build their ROMs based off AOSP source code, most of devs mod Cyanogen...Mod.
Chromatic is just themed Cyanogen.
About look - Android looks pretty the same, most ROMs affect things like kernel or system behaviour, not looks. Sense ROMs are pretty eye-candy, but IMO they are too heavy for G1. Only few vanilla Android ROMs are themed.
Android alone gives you AWESOME ability of customising alomst everything you want. You just have to search long enough. Trust me, you can change everything (of course it have some borders, too).
So what do you think i should use? It comes down to SuperE and Cyanogen.
Kinklic thing is kinda wierd lol..
Why not try both? Start with SuperE, it is meant to be fast CyanogenMod 5. I think you'll like it.
For me The best 2.1 I flashed is HTCCLAY's SuperBAD CM5 v1.7 awesome work its fast stable and i love this one. you can give it a try..

[Q] Recommendations for new ROM

Hey XDA!!
I'm currently using an older ROM from MODACO. I'm running 2.2 with Modaco Custom ROM r21 (FRF91). I would love to hear some recommendations from the xda community. Thanks to all that reply!!
Try PostinTheRightSection's ROM.
I would suggest NxSense ROM from Evil. The usage is good so far.
But you must note that there are three works in progress.
Use CM6 on your own risk.
Don't like HTC SENSE Style? try this: Full of features

Enomther and geo411m have put out ROMs that seem to be getting a lot of praise. I'm personally on enomther's right now.
I would choose Evil's NexSense..

I agree, though if you're looking for a more stable rom than you should probably go for Geo's. Enomther's is pretty twicked and fun, but there are some FC issues.

Which Rom?

Hi Guys,
Been away for a while due to health problems, I have Froyo Doc V9 JPO on my SGS.
Browsing the forum now there are simply loads too choose from, could any kind soul tell me which rom i can safely go up to from the version i have now.
Thank you kindly
If you are on Froyo you can basically migrate to whatever Gingerbread or CyanogenMod version you want. If you are not familiar with the latest tips & tricks the easiest thing to do probably would be to opt for one of the recently launched JVH or JVP roms. Look into solutions offered by Darky, Juwe and read the installation instructions thoroughly. Very easy to understand is the work done by DocRambone and Stefunel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115958
If you want to stay close to the latest stock rom and still get a good user experience point your browser to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058814
Thanks man - i opted for Darky Rom - Quick and painless. @)
I´m using Darkys ROM 10.1 RE and it is awsome. Good choice!
And you can try Miui which looks better. And it is pretty easy to flash from Froyo.
+2 for Darkys rom

Try them out for yourself! You will never get a straight answer as it is entirely personal, and mods always shut these threads
Insanity cm 015/glitch
Thanks for the replies guys, tried a few others after darkys but gonna stick with darkys
im using for 0,5 years simply honey.maybe its something for you too.

although im relatively new to the SGS scene i have already done my fair share of flashing.
I have found that there are 3 roms i regulary have been swapping between.
Simply Honey
Juwe's Smart Edition
Tweaky Rom
they are all fast and stable roms.
I have tried and tested Darky's Rom enjoyed it but I haven't re-visited it recently.
MIUI is a very very nice sleek interface, but the battery didn't seem to last very well with me.
Same with CM7 nice clean OS but the battery was an issue (and I used to swear by CM on my old G1, I will revisit when the battery is sorted).
My first SGS flashing experience was Simply Honey and I had no problems with it at all.
at the end of the day, in my opinion, every one has their favourite flavour from their favourite chef. I suggest you try them all at least once until you find your favourite.
(just flashed the latest Juwe's and so far its impressive)

What's the most stable ROM at moment?

I been on simply honey gingerbread since August, but after a few Weeks it starts to give force closes, becomes slow and battery calibration every 2/3 days. After every few Weeks when this happens I just reflash the ROM and it works well again until the cycle starts again.
anyway i'm fed up of doing that now, not much of a flasher either anymore like I was when darky and doc were around. So I just want a long time stable ROM, but there's so many I've from never heard of. So need help from you guys please.
P.s ROM developers, please start collaborating with each other to create quality ROMs rather than go for quantity of mediocre ROMs.

+1 for Simplicity.
I have flashed tons of roms since Eclair.
Now on JVT Simplicity ROM and loving the stability and smoothness. Not a single fc yet.
I'm on simply honey 5.1 too and wanted to go back to darky rom. Do I need to flash the baserom for darky or just flash the darky RE straight forward?? P.s simply honey uses jvs rom I think....
Anyone help about installation from simply honey 5.1 to darky rom 10.2??

tornado ROM really fast and stable +
Damiangto kernel
Or
Cyanogenmod
Most people just go with some stock/custom samsung rom with a custom kernel. Samsung based roms aren't all that much different from each other, some tweaks, removal/add of programs, different theme and that's pretty much it. In the end i always ended up finding something i didn't like and up to this day i haven't seen anyone correcting the charging bug on samsung's roms.
No offense meant to any developer out there, of course, but i've tried loads of roms and this is my experience of it.
This kind of changed after trying cyanogenmod 7 stable. It isn't based on samsung's roms. And i know this statement is, by now, a cliche around here but this is, by far,the fastest and most stable rom i've tried up to this day and is what i recommend from personal experience.
Just a note to however follows this route. There are nightlies being released after the stable version and i've seen people recommending them instead of the stable because they were release after the stable and are just added stuff. The way i see it, if they're adding new stuff, it may break previous stable work. Well, this is your call, they are called nightlies for a reason, not stable.
Up to you though, i've seem some posts saying they had all sorts of trouble with CM7. I reckon either they were unlucky, tried an unstable version or just didn't follow instructions properly and ended up quitting.
It seems that GingerReal v1.3 for Galaxy Ace is more stable as what I have experienced.
sO Go GingerReal YoU RocK Dude!!!
jetpack checkout totallydubbed facebook wall 19hrs on with gameplaygood batterylife very stable but thats just my opinion

Which rom is the best? Kernel? (Fast and stable)

Hi, I'm noob in sansung galaxy S rooms.
Which rom is the best for you?
Stable (for dialy use) and very smooth.
And which Kernel?
Cheerss!
Jw4 or jw5 with semaphore is rock solid, remove bloatware, apply themes and cool hacks

Just went from ICSSGS (onecosmic) 4.2 to this rom:
ICS333 RC1.1 by Team 3xtr3m3
its an ICS 4.0.4 ROM which works brilliantly. I switched from ICSSGS because they are still stuck on ICS 4.0.3 although I must say that one works just fine too!
its an AOSP rom, meaning that its trying to be as close to how google releases ICS themselfs. They made some enhancements, like a brightness slider in the pulldown menu etc, but they really work well and they dont "over do" it with extras.
Together with the newest Semaphore kernel this works like a charm.

I can really recommend this combination.
Good luck with finding a ROM that works well for you!
Ps. It is kinda hard to define which rom is "best". Different Roms offer different kind of stuff. I like my ROM to be as clean as possible with not to many frills. Other people might want to have buttons for everything . Its just what you personally prefer. I suggest you read the ROM threads in the android dev section. Most of the time you can get a good glimpse about what a certain ROM offers and how stable or buggy it generally is by the first post and the suggestions / replies that are posted by users.
It depends on your use
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
It depends. For GB, Darky's Rom or CM7. For ICS, Elite/Slim/CM9. Yet again, it depends...
I wan't a rom smooth and stable. You are affirming that android 4.0 is stable, right?
Android 2.3 is very good, I never test android 4.0, which is more smooth and fast?
Thank you!
First, there is always a risk when flushing... Do NAND and EFS before.
As for being stable - AFAIK, from reading and testing, some ICS roms out there are very stable and can be used for daily use. However, you should take in mind that while these ICS roms - as stable as they are - are still new, while GB roms have been outhere for a while.
I think that Slim is very stable. AOKP and CM9 also, yet a little more buggy...

Oh, ICS is now on 4.04. Some roms are on 4.03.
Judge this

I agree with what you said, but Team ICSSGS have never stopped working on their rom and I believe they will surprise us with an RC5 by the end of this month. In all cases their RC 4.2 remains among the best available for GS. Coupled with MINCS 143, it works like a charm except for direct access to ext. SD (still accessible through SD/EMMC though).
When I heard that Samsung wasn't developing ICS for the SGS I decided to root mine and flash an ICS rom and for some reason chose the ICSSGS rom. I used that for a few days and was happy. Then I realized they were still on 4.0.3 and then decided to upgrade to CM9 as they are on 4.0.4. It's a matter of personal preference.

Flash slim ics and you won't have any problems at all. Then, if you want, you can try installing whatever kernels that fit for you, if you are not satisfied by the stock one.
