[Q] Volume sliders linking app? - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

I've been trying to sort out the volume controls on droid to get them to behave how I want and after trying various different 3rd party apps to do this I still haven't made it do what I want. It's getting a little frustrating now!
So at the risk of being told "This has been asked before" and being shown threads I've already read and links I've tried out, I'm resorting to asking.
Basically what I'm looking for is that ALL of the individual volume controls are linked together to the main volume rocker switch, and/or the ringtone volume setting. What I mean by that is that when I hold the switch down to make the phone quieter or silent, I want ALL the other volume controls (media/notifications/alarms etc) to use the exact same setting. And the same when the volume is increased.
And when I mention ringtone volume setting I mean that (if possible) when I add say a profile switching shortcut on the home screen and choose a silent/vibrate/normal profile that the same behaviour applies, ie all the volume controls get set the same.
If I was being choosy, in an ideal world it would be nice to be able to choose any particular control and have it excluded from this behaviour as I see fit, but that's a nice to have - beggars can't be choosers!
The important thing is basically when I turn the volume rocker down that I want my phone to make all the volume settings go down etc like they're one overall setting not a bunch of separate ones.
In terms of implementation I'm not sure if this will sound how I mean it to, but I don't really want to have to keep messing with an app to change settings, or have to have a shortcut that needs to be used etc. So with that in mind is there such a thing that just installs and has no interface of its own per se but actually fundamentally changes the way the standard volume controls and settings work and are presented to you?
That's ultimately what I'd love to have rather than a 'bolt on' that I need to remember is there and have to meddle with all the time. I hope that makes sense, and I'd certainly try out a solution that only ticks 'some' of the boxes than have no suggestions at all.
Sorry if this sounds similar to other threads on volume control. I've read several similar ones, and have tried many 3rd party volume/mute apps etc but have not yet found one that just links the separate volume sliders together in this way in such a simple fashion. I'm sure there must be one like this, but I've not found it yet so appreciate a pointer in the right direction!
Cheers

Looking for this aswell, but I was never able to find it

Just a quick update for anyone searching - I found an app called 'Master Volume' which has worked for me.
It doesn't offer anything in terms of exceptions or individual control I don't think, but importantly it DOES link the volume controls together and links them at the same time to the rocker switch on the phone.
So you install it, then I opened the all and it says to just leave the service running in the background (so I set my task killer app to ignore the process). That's it. It just seems to work no problem.
Result!

lower dialpad volume

i wanted to know if there was a way to lower the volume when im dialing the number. its as if my speaker is about to blow when im trying to dial a number. anyone know the registry edit?
Never did get a sloution for this, except by covering the speaker with my finger
Would be interested to know if there's reg hack, then we could pass it to the Kaiser Tweak guys!
There may be 3 ways to improve your situation.
The first would be to change from long tones to short tones. This wont reduce the volume, but if you have it set on long, it will shorten the amount of time the tone is emitted.
(Phone>Menu>Options> then change keypad to short tones)
The secdond would be to do the same as above, but to change it to "Nothing"
The third would be to turn t vibrate using KaiserTweak (a great app by the genii of xda-dev.com) where there is a setting to change the phone keypresses from tones to vibrate (KaiserTweak: Call > Dialer Button Behaviour"
u can also click on the speaker icon and bring down the volume for the mobile icon. but this will reduce the overall volume of ur device.

i dont have this option on my kaiser tweak
make sure u update your xml file, provided by nikagl
i have the one from dec. 9 and even on his post under calls it doesnt show a Call > Dialer Button Behaviour"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349009
thats the latest, and i just checked there is no dialer button behavior.
Only solution i can think of is that you would need to turn down the system volume, since it is a system sound. However, you can try searching for the dialer sounds, modifying them with a sound editor(decrease the amp, or something like that.) so you can keep your system volume up, while dialer doesnt deafen you.

If you looks through the Kaiser Tweaks thread, it's in there. Not in the actual xml thread, but in the one where you post questions. You could try searching vibrating keypad and variations of the like. He actually made an xml file for it, and it's posted in that thread, he just didn't include it in the official release.
I tried it out, and it seemed to work fine. Like a dummy, I stopped using it, because I thought it would no longer work with automated systems (like checking voicemail etc.) but then I realized the sound I hear has nothing to do with the info transmitted by the phone lol, so I may have to give it another try.
i found the right XML file with more tweaks than i had...for those that want it here it is
Lovely - I hadn't noticed the Tweak update - All quiet now!

[APP] Link Ringer Volume to Notification Volume

In case other people were sad about the missing feature of linking their ringer volume to the notification volume in some roms...there's another app that has been around for quite a while that will do this for you.
It's called "Quick Settings" which will not only let you do this, but has some other nifty features worth checkin out.
Although I have recently switched over to Continuum (and am happy that this linking feature was brought back to where it was originally ) and it may not be useful to everyone, I thought it's worth throwing out there in case other people were still looking for this feature. The app is also tied to a long press of the search button.

Volume key changes media volume, not ringtone/notifcation volume

I didn't find anything with the search function, so here it goes:
Whenever you're on the homescreen with your One, and use the volume keys, normally my ringtone/notification volume changes, and I can make the phone go to silent/vibrate mode. If I played a game or used an other sound-using app, close it, and go back to the homescreen and try to change the volume again, it changes the media volumes. It's almost as if the audio process is still running and the One thinks it needs to change the media volume instead of ringtone/notification volume.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? (Or is it a feature, and if so, how can change/fix it?)
Thanks

Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (you will see the back/home buttons flash and a countdown) and it will do a full restart.
Cool... Someone is making an inquiry about operation of the volume button and you suggested a restart sequence?
Anyways! Try pressing once the volume button. A mini volume window should pop up there should be a button on the right corner. Pressing it will direct you to the complete volume settings window.

Thanks for your reply. Your solution is not exactly what I meant, first of all there is no button on the right corner when changing the media volume. Only when changing the notification/ringtone volume. Second of all I'm not sure I explained well enough what the problem is, so I'll try again:
Situation: A fresh rebooot. When you are on your home screen and change the volume, you'll change the volume of your notifications and ringtone. This is what I want and works fine, when you put the volume all the way down it will go to vibrate mode, or silent mode. Perfect.
Now when I played a few games or listened to some music, closed those apps and I am back on the homescreen. I change the volume with the volume keys but instead of changing the notification and ringtone volume I change the media volume. I can't set my One to vibrate or silent using the volume keys now. This is not what I want, since I want the behaviour as I described earlier.
If I now go to settings -> Sounds -> Volumes I can ofcourse change the volumes I want, but this is more actions than I want to, and apparently isn't necessary as well. Change the ringtone volume there, then going back to the homescreen and using volume keys again, it still changes the media volume, again, this is not what I want.
So the problem is that after playing games/music the volume keys won't revert back to changing the notification/ringtone sounds but in stead keeps changing the media keys.

Doesn't happen here. do you have an exact sequence of which games/music apps you have been using? It possible that one of them is not closing down properly, have you tried going to the app manager and seeing which programs are running then force closing possible culprits until you find which is giving the problem?

After trying to find the problem for a week I haven't come across an particular app or sequence before it happens. Force closing every possible running app that uses audio also doesn't revert back to notification sound changing. I'm out of ideas for now..
Yeah doesn't happen to me either and i'm on firmware 1.28 stock and urooted.
It's a feature not a bug

Try opening Recent Apps and swipe away the game.
Then try again.

I understand this question was posted months ago, but I too am having this exact issue with my One, and was curious if you ever found a solution. thanks
Same thing happens on my HTC one X. Only when i dismiss ALL apps from recent, it reverts back to normal...
thanks

Thanks, that solved it for me. Sometimes you gotta start at the basic steps when troubleshooting, don't just jump in head first.

I've seen the same issue with my Moto X now a year later. For me, the only fix has been the same that's referenced above--to go to the recent apps menu and swipe away the app that initiated the switch to controlling media volume as opposed to ringtone volume. Seems to work pretty well for me.
App is still active
Hey, I was having the exact same problem. It just started recently and I just figured it was because of a game (Real Racing 3). Even though I wasn't in the game, I guess it was still active in memory and keeping hold of the media output. I killed the app and my ringtone volume buttons work normally now.

Any mods to get back decent volume sliders?

I'm really unhappy with Lollipop volume management. Particularly the fact that the volume rocker only shows up the volume slider that Android THINKS you want. So, if I want to turn down media volume, but I'm on the home screen, I get the alarm/priority volume. I have to go into an media app (or the multiple taps through settings) to get to a media slider. Even I'm in a media app, until some event happens in the software that says it's playing media, I'll often not get the right slider. And if I happen to be casting to a Chromecast in the background, I just get the casting volume button!
I badly miss something like the Paranoid Android volume sliders, where one pull gets you the main slider, and another pulldown of that expands to show all the volumes. I realize I can use widgets and what-not to try to get back this behavior, but I'm wondering what the most 'elegant' solution is? I think Google really is trying to hard to do our thinking for us, and as a result, making Android more of a crap-shoot in terms of knowing what will happen at any given point when you do something.
Thoughts? Mod or specific widget recommendations? Notification-based volume toggles? Ideally I'd like to hit the volume rocker and get all my sliders, and I have root, but I don't know if anything out there does this.
Thanks,
Randy
I'd like to know as well.
I have used Noyze in the past but it is currently incompatible with 5.0. The developer has stated that they are working on an update that will support lollipop.
Power Toggles has an option which displays all sliders IIRC.

Single Volume Control

That the volume rocker only controls ringtone drives me nuts, I've seen a number of potential solutions, but lots that don't work on 5.x+
Anyone care to share their current approach? I'm looking for controlling all volumes simultaneously from the rocker, like life should be
Thanks!

It has been over a month since this thread began, does anyone have a solution yet? This would make many people happy :fingers-crossed:
Press on the volume button. .you get the slider. .next is a settings wheel icon...tap it to get expanded bar. .you can increase whatever you want. ..people need more options. .you may want only ring tone volume low but play media volume high. ..each one has different needs
Wanam xposed had multiple features including expanded volume bar and the like. ..may be you need that
