Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

Thank you for the Tutorial - it worked for me until I wanted to install a Update of a purchased App:
they are all shown in My downloads & Market tells me that there is a Update available. When I click update it shows me the Buy button & the Price of the app?!
What can I do now? Any ideas?
You can install this app market until we get the real one. This is an alternative to Googles. It doesn't have as many apps but it does have lots of popular apps. It installs and works fine.
http://slideme.org/
Its quite good.
Just to clarify. Slideme is not a website where you download apps. it's a Market app. You download the app from their website.
How did you get this working, my NC says "Install Blocked", and then "Installation of download apks is not supported"

Refer to this thread to get the Nook to install apps on it's own.

installed it... cant get it to even run. screen flashes and it goes back to the app screen. Ideas?
You must have a sd card installed to run slideme.. Most phones only let programs read and write to the sd card, and a lot of programs fail when it can't find one.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App

Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the Great work !! I am a noob and this is my first android powered device. I would like to know if there is a repository for all the known running apps on NC.
I've managed to root the device fine. However I don't know where to get all these APK's that people here are using.
Thanks.
I spotted two alternative app stores that I installed and both working nicely. Andappstore and the other is SlideMe Marketplace. This second one needs a SD card to work since apparently it saves APKs there.
So you just go there and download any apk you want, there is no device specific apk? All apk's are created equal ??

SlideMe has a compatibility button you can push to check if NC will run the APK. So far, it's worked quite well for me - everytime an app says it can be installed and run fine, it does. Barring of course, the Google Apps, which aren't working right now. But make sure you have an SD card and give it a go

I haven't downloaded a whole lot but the ones I have installed without issues. And SlideMe even has an uninstall option. That is if you go back to the installed apk's own page in the market.
I just download with my phone then use appmonster and send all the apk to sd. Then send to dropbox.
All,
I am trying to figure out the easiest way to sideload apps. For now I'm trying to get Google Earth to work right and I also have the apk for angry birds.
My NC is 1.1 Autonooter 3.0. Zeam Launcher and I have Astro.
I wish I could just use the market - that way I could get updates automatically. Is there a simple way to get the market to update so I can just use the market?
I have tried appbrain - and it does not seem to work.
Otherwise, can I put the apk anywhere and just point astro to it? Where do you guys put your apks (sd, internal)?
Thanks much for your help!

I went from stock ROM 1.0.1, sideload 1.1 update and the Autonooter 3.0.0 and have market working.
In your case, checkout dropbox.com. I upload all my apk to dropbox and then on my NC, just download and install.

I have dropbox. Thanks for the tip. What do you use to install? Astro?
Appbrain has been blocked by Google because of Googles new web based market
You can always Google apk's or yes sideload them through dropbox or titanuim backup from another device.

I did not know that Appbrain was blocked. Thanks!
I can get the apk onto my NC via dropbox or just mounting it to my MacBook. But, where should I put them and what app do i use to install? Can I put them anywhere (like make a folder for them) and just point the app (like astro) to them? On SD or on internal (does it matter)?
I refused to sign in Amazone, but want to use the Underground Apps for games. But when I tried 'adb install -r abc.apk' to install and replace the app, it shows: 'Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_CONFLICTING_PROVIDER]. I also have root access, is there any step to achieve this?

You are right, Amazon seems to lock everything if within their rom. I've tried uninstalling many built-in apps via Root Uninstaller but still it doesn't allow a new app to get installed from PlayStore for instant 'Amazon Kindle' as it still shows 'Open'!

Custom ROM (Fire Nexus) is likely the best solution.
