I want overclock my Galaxy S for better performance and undervolt cpu when phone is not processing for better holding time of battery. Is it possible i mean any app or program?
I have read any topics here and its so much different info and opinions....
What is the best and save? Thanks so much!
You have to flash a kernel that supports overclocking. There is a kernel in the development thread.

"Unsupported kernel detected, You are running a incompatible kernel. Toget one head to XDA, "Do it for me (not implemented yet) "Get Kernel" "Exit" cant see any help, have i missed somthing??? finally got my ph back working after days of stuffing around.... working now, Samsung Galaxy S i9000 2.1 eclear stocked now updated final worked to Darkys Rom ver 9.2 now froyo 2.2.1,,, im scared to flash now because the ph use to have a fit after flash the reboot (screen logo stays on or off with vibrating "buzz......buzzz,buzzz,buzzz.................buzzz z............ buzzz, buzzz, buzz repeats for ever!!, as i said i have it reflashed to an Australian 2.1 because theres none for New Zealand "how stupid!!!" at lest i got it going, then flashed to Darkys Rom 9.2 all going good so far but cant get Voltage Controller to run help thanks.....

Hi all, wow just rooted my sg2 and now want a good custom rom, any suggestions please, also is VooDoo control out yet for sg2 and if not is there any simular app within a custom rom that will do the same as VooDoo Control ie boost the volume etc as i found this app to be superb on my old samsung g1 ,
Hope to hear soon from Brian
Theres no voodoo or alternative yet for the gs2, I played around with my gs2 last week when I got it rom wise and found that a few of them are kinda unstable at the moment (cyanogen for example)
At the moment I'm running Darky Rom V2 Rom Here
and instead of running the supercore kernel Im running 2.6.35.11 ninphetamine 2.1.3 Kernel Here as it does have a really good battery life and overclocking ability if you look at the benchmark test on the kernel page im getting another 2000 ontop of that, current score is 6235, that with a few things running in the background. After all my playing this is the best currently available in my opinion.
Hay mate first this is the s1 forum.
Second i test many room on my Gs2 i think darky is very simple and no major difference from stock rom....i think u should try Alienware rom its cool man and have ninptimine kernel and u can overclock this to1.6 and u can earn 5100 point on qudarant and too much fast.

Hi all on xda i'm wanting to improve my galaxy s i9000 speed, at the moment my phone runs at abt 960-1000 on quadrant standered which i know is rubbish, my galaxy s is on a stock rom & kernel (firmware 2.3.3, build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVH, kernel 2.6.35.7-i9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2) updated using kies, I used to have it rooted but unrooted it don't know why what r my options regarding getting better results on quadrant any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
Thank you
John
install a custom rom,
if u want good battery, decent speed then install Darkys Rom,
if u want PURE speed (with stock android, without the touchwiz ui) then install CyanogenMod7
or just go over to the development section and experiment around with the Roms,
MAKE SURE THAT B4 U INSTALL A ROM, U ARE ROOTED BY INSTALLING A GINGERBREAD KERNEL THORUGH ODIN, AND THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO GET OUT OF A SITUATION IF U HAPPEN TO BRICK YOUR PHONE (LIKELY, BUT EASY TO FIX ) however, if u do anything to your phone and u dnt know how to fix it, im not responsible, ill try 2 help but wnt guarantee anythink
if i helped, be sure to click the "thanks" button
Forget quadrant, just a random number generator. High score in quadrant has value when you wanna show off, and at the same time let others know you really don't know.
I'm still going on XWJVH, happy user of rooted Semaphore kernel 1.8.2.
The included Semaphore app gives you access to a lot of tweaks, Voodoo color/sound and a smooth operating phone.
The latest leaked ROMs (XXJVS, XXJVT) still has bugs: phone FC, WIFI disconnect. If you feel brave and wanna try one of these ROMs, make sure to read what's fixed in their OP and latest posts for experience of users.

Try ThunderBolt! in my sig. Be sure to read the requirements and meet them before flashing
Stock jvt
or faaryabs f1 rom v13 that hopefully will be released today if you want more features.
talon or semaphore as kernel.
And thunderbolt tweaks.

delete unnecessary apps
root and delete unneccesary apps.
Flash stock JVT and Semaphore, then convert to EXT4.
my WiFi works fine, and for the Phone FC, just flash the JVT Phone Fix.
For me this is the best stock ROM that I've tried. Fast and stable, the browser has improved a lot.

use sgs chlorine, can remove all the stock apps in seconds
Sent using TCP/IP
Root and install a Cooked rom, anyone will do better than the stock one.
And forget Quadrant, it's rubbish.
+1 on Pikachu01 Thunderbolt script. Running very much smoother on my SGS.
Mitra Rom is faster then other and use lagfix
small tip

If you use JVT with JVK modem the phone will operate amazingly, no phone fc, no wifi disconnect, great battery life + performance.
Good luck!
try miui mintberry
My advice would be first flash a few custom roms+kernels and see how that works for you.
If that isn't fast or smooth enough you could try tweaks like thunderbolt!

MIUI mint berry and via rom toolbox clocked into 1,3ghz
I´m on JVZ with Semaphore 2.1.1 and overclocked CPU (1300 mhz). This motor is fast, stable and smooth.
Hey!
2.3.6 is very good!
you should test at the beginn of your "Flash carrier" a few Roms + Kernels.

Look, if you want a rom that supports custom themes, mods and other tweaks, then go for stock JVT or some custom rom. But it is undeniable that gingerbread will always lag slightly on the galaxy s due to low ram. Heck, it even lacks on the nexus s.
In reality, if you want a lag-free (and I really mean LAG-FREE) rom, you should go for Froyo 2.2.1 roms. Froyo roms were meant for 512mb of ram, and they work flawlessly on the galaxy s. ZSJPK 2.2.1 never lagged on my SGS.
And just to be clear, ram is indeed the limiting factor to smoothness on our phone. On Gingerbread, free ram is less than 100mb after a day's usage, and so the phone has to constantly close and reopen background processes while you're using it. If I'm not mistaken, the default kernels begin to close apps and processes once ram drops below 64mb. Eg: Free ram is 100mb. You open the browser which uses 20mb, and then when you load facebook which uses another 20mb, the free ram has dropped below 60, so while processing the webpage, the cpu has to simultaneously close background processes. Then when you leave fb, the cpu reopens those processes. Hence, the phone lags.
But on Froyo, there's up to 180mb of ram on boot, and somehow ram consumption after prolonged use is not that high, so it can last for days with over 120mb of ram and hence never lags.
In conclusion, the only viable solution to lag that I have experienced so far is by using froyo 2.2.1 roms, especially the later builds like ZSJPK or the other one which name I cannot remember. Things like voodoo lagfixes don't really help (unless you're on eclair) and custom rom tweaks are really just placebo effects actually.

Wrong thread. Also there is tonnes of information a single google search away on how to root your phone. One way is to download Odin and then flash a rooted kernal such as CF-Root onto the phone from Download mode.
So I flashed two different jelly bean roms that are overclocked to 1.3ghz, but when I checked my cpu speed on my phone one rom was 1.05 and the other was 1.1ghz. I would post this on the CN2 rom thread where I got the rom from, but I need ten post to even comment on there. Why is my phone not fully overclocking to the specific value?
Also I have tried every overclocking app from setcpu, setvcu, milestone, etc... and none of them actually let me overclock the phone they just let me move my slider to a lower value than 1.1ghz. I cannot get any app to actually let me set a new value for my cpu frequency. I am currently running the CN2 Jelly Bean rom.
Any help is appreciated.
anyone?
So I figured out the problem. My stock kernel only holds 4 or 5 cpu speed slots. I need a kernel that holds 7. I am having trouble finding one, or at least figuring out how to flash my new kernel through safe strap. It says failed when I try to flash a kernel I downloaded.
Anyone know of any kernels that will work with the CN3 Rom, I have been trying to figure this out all day.

Anyone know of a kernel I that is compatible with CN3 Rom?
our cappy is fast as it is on 4.2 but i have yet to overclock a phone yet and i hear its not like taking the risk of OC your computer so i would like to try it out on the cappy first. so i have googled this already and it comes up with somone already OC it to 1.2 ghz which i would be fine with but in order to OC you need to flash a kernal i think it said? i am not fimilular with kernals with all of the phones i have messed with i have yet to touch kernals, the only time i have flashed a kernal (had a interesting custom recovery) was to root my cappy to put CM on it and got CWM after. i dont see the points of them other than more customization which im not interested in, so how would i go about doing this can someone help me out please?

You do indeed need a custom kernel that allows it. Flashing them is fairly simple, you just need a Odin flashable version if you don't wanna go the custom ROM way.
Make sure that your kernel is made for the current version your phone is running and that it's for the I897! As per your signature, Corn kernel would be your best option as it is for GB.

as of last night i flashed Cyangenmod to get CWM and then flashed paranoid android 3.99, mines a I896 btw i think since i got a bootloop its on At&t/firmware. (only useing on wifi for now) i had corn kernel before to get a recovery and root but if i want to OC it would i have to get corn kernel again? it was a pretty slow boot up every time i turned it on with the stock rom.
No you don't have nor want to. Corn is for GB, if you flashed CM, you're probably on JB.
You'll just have to flash a JB kernel that allows OC (like devil).

Buddy, read carefully what kernels are compatible with what ROMs and what Android versions.
The information you need is already available here on XDA in Captivate Android Development section.

so i was looking through some of my stuff on my cappy (cyangenmod 10.1.3 on it) and i looked at the performance option and it has the option to overclock it to 1.2 GHz, would i have to flash a special kernel? or am i fine like this?
Default CM kernel supports 1.2GHz step overclock, just set it and test for stability issues. Nothing else is needed.
overclock t211
hi im sorry to butt in here. Please help. Where can I read the instruction for overclocking galaxy tab 3 t211. I have my device rooted, with twrp, with infamous rom, I have the kernel zio but have not flashed yet. first of all the t211 is a tablet not a phone . you have a dual core clocked at 1.2ghz im sure thats pretty fast i think its because you have too many apps. if you still want to overclock ask at the q&a section of its offical forums here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3 . cyanogenmod sometimes have the option to overclock their devices, i would check that out as well

OC is a kernel option so simply flash a kernel that allows it. That being said, you're not on the right sub-forum like Trozzul mentioned. Be sure to flash one for your tablet. OC has its disadvantages so make sure you read about it before going through with it.
