Pandora Radio, what happened to you? - Captivate Themes and Apps

Pandora used to be great and reliable and for the past few weeks it stops playing songs and skips whenever it wants. I have not done the latest update based off of reviews. Does anyone else have this issue and can anyone suggest a similar app?

yeah, Pandora has been messy as of late (really disappointing to be honest), but there's an alternative app that isn't as "streamlined" in my opinion called "Slacker Radio" which I've tried that doesn't seem to have this issue. But I personally think the interface is poorly designed and not as good a selection in my tastes.

When it works, it works fine. Maybe its there way of getting you to purchase pandora but at this rate if this is how they are going after android users, well then screw them! It works perfectly on my wifes iphone.

i like tunein radio probably the one that works the best

Does it have good randomization?

Why don't you just put music on your phone and randomize that. Pandora and other radio stations personally are a waste of data. Your phone has plenty of space.

Because most people use internet radio to listen to and discover new songs that they couldn't other wise. The fact that these services allow users to recommend/promote/demote songs in order for a user preference to be generated is a significant feature for these services.

Slacker is good for things like listening to comedy routines, its great for long road trips. I prefer pandora for finding new music or hearing a random playlist of songs I love but haven't heard in a long time. I've used pandora for years, I have faith in their devs, they'll fix whatever problems arise. Don't give up!

Pandora has been really crappy so I switched to slacker, it's been pretty good so far.

pandora just released an update today.

im suprised more people dont use last.fm, works pretty well, i usually use pandora, but i too have issues with it every once in a while, and last.fm is a great alternative, and it actually will give you info about the bands that play as well as if they are on tour or not.. everyone who reads this thread should at least try it. if nothing else, just for the ability to look up bands info

Just an FYI, two co-workers with iphone 4's are having the same issue with Pandora. They tried to show the superiority of all things Apple, and Pandora started skipping on them as well.

This says the new LG Incite has an official Pandora app. Don't know if it's free or not, but it would be cool to have.

Meh. what a rip off.
Pandora does not work on the fuze. I found that odd because it worked on my Epix. You get a 2 dy trial. It was a great app just like the PC version of Pandora, album art and all. Good sound quality. The fe thing is for Pandora. They charge a yry subcription.
I'd rather pay for the XM app than Pandora though.
there was a way to get the xm app and the mobi tv app free on qvga winmo
i have to assume someone will figure out how to get pandora working for us but yes 9 bucks is crazy
All this talk about the incite being the first WinMo device with Pandora is false. I have the Samsung Epix and it has Pandora on it.

Tell me why I should use this over Last.Fm
I have been using last.fm for a few years now, its the single best thing about XBMC. What does pandora do that last.fm does not?
Last.Fm bitrate is very clear and stable, android players take a bit to buffer but this is related to hardware not software. It has just about EVERYTHING I have ever searched for and I have searched for some little known punkrock bands.
The thing I hate about pandora on my friends iphone is the damn skip limit. When I showed him last.fm he was amazed I could skip tracks forever.

So what your saying is.... There is no reason to be excited at all. Unless you have never used last.fm that is.
If there's a skip limit I'll stick with last.fm, that's a deal killer so no thanks to this and eyemeem
don't overlook the most important aspect of Pandora...
The Music Genome Project, an ambitious attempt at mapping the things that have influenced the artists we all listen to. I've been exposed to great music I likely would not have heard had it not been for The MGP.
atleast last.fm works in the uk, just tried pandora website now and it says no longer available outside the US

Think tank : fm radio for vibrant

The original galaxy s has the ability to transmit and receive fm radio. I also know that the vibrant has the exact and chip but lacks the drivers. If we can get the ffc to work by actually adding new hardware then we should definitely be able to get hardware that's already on the phone working. The question is, of, there a dev that's, willing to do this?

I assume you are being facetious?
Lets say you are not:
There are areas with poor data coverage.
FM Radio uses lets battery than streaming.
Not all stations streams.
Streams often fall off for no reason even on a computer with a high speed connection.
Gyms broadcast tv sound via radio.
TuneIN radio is buggy as hell.
I could go on, but since you couldn't possibly be serious in your question and also non-retarded enough to understand an answer, I won't.

I am perfectly serious but in a way that would not be considered aggressive, rude or of assuming nature here is my experience and general thoughts.
I have had 0 issues at all with Tune In. I have not found a single radio station in my area I couldn't grab a stream including the AM channels for the sports people. In my city data coverage is a non issue. I have had perfectly good experience with this and threw it out there to help as this topic has already been covered although in length for those that haven't searched. I am still curious about the battery comparison though. Where did you get that information? I have had great battery life experience but haven't jacked with any radio devices on any of my cellphones. As far as gym's broadcasting TV stations via radio that is a huge advantage. I hate the treadmill and bang my cardio outside which is why I like tune in for the AM in case there is a game on. I would never listen to anything TV related in the weight room as I am always there early am or later in the evening and not really a tv person anyway expect for sports anyway. Just my .02 cents.
I hope this alternative will help some people.

Well, yes, its true that you can get a lot of stations streamed via internet, but the thing that most of us really want, that absolutely needs fm radi working, is the FM radio transmitter. What that will let you do is play a song from your phone and transmit it through and FM radio band you choose. That way, if you dont feel like listening to music on your crappy phone speakers while driving, you can listen to them on your cars nice speakers.

If you have an aux in on your radio, you could connect your phone to that. I'm using a blackberry audio gateway with my car and it works great. Some newer car radios have bluetooth built in. FM is super crowded here and transmitters just don't work well.
Would like it for the rare times I use it.

Tunein Radio

Hi All
I would like to make an app recommendation. Those of you who miss the FM Radio. To try out this app.
I been having trouble with the LBC app on the NS getting loads of FC's, so I decided to try this one out.
I am lucky enough to have an unlimited data plan, so streaming on this was fine.
I have got to say I use this to listen to my local radio stations (LBC in particular) The quality is superb, much better than the local radio app on the market.
If you have a good data plan give this a try. Available on the Market
Disclaimer I am not affliated to tunein radio..
I've been using this app for a while. I also highly recommend it.

Use This On a Daily Basis...
Sent From a Crop Circle... with a Nexus S
this is what i use all the time
that's why on the topic of Enabling FM Radio on Nexus S i commented it was not necessary,
as we get better reception with Tunin Radio than with a real FM radio
also the same places you can receive FM radio you can receive 3G
and the best is, you can listen to Radio station from all over the world not just local FM stations using Tunin Radio
I have the paid version, Radio Time. I noticed last night, on WiFi it would it would stop a few seconds after the screen had gone off. The WiDi sleep policy is to never shut off WiFi.
Any ideas what is happening?
its an amazing app,
however, one withdraw, missing WIDGET option
Been using this for a month...great app. Love the sleep time and alarm options!
Very nice app
I've been using this app since have first android phone... Its great, and find local stations too :]
I use the alarm feature regularly. Great app
I agree great app! Been using forever, a widget would be awesome tho...

yeah great app. I was using it when I was in China to listen to some local radio stations from home.

What does Dogcatcher and BeyondPod offer that Google Listen doesn't? I've started listening to podcasts a lot and curious if I should try these other apps.
Question: Any of these allow you to mark for offline listening/watching? Sort of like a..."Download now" button? Rather stream it...
doggcatcher is by far the most feature rich of the apps. i listen to at least 40 weekly podcasts (long commute, lots of driving for work) and I have tried all of the major apps. It even has a honeycomb layout (although that needs polishing). As far as the distinctions, it allows you to set both universal and podcast specific settings as far as autodownloads, listing, delete policies, etc. Its podcast search features are also outstanding. Another feature I use its backup and import/export abilities which means I can keep my settings between rom flashes, devices, etc... I could go on...
I encourage the other poster who said he was building his own (something I did a while back, but abandoned) to keep pushing the improvement. Things that would be cool are cloudsync (just track progress, read/unread, etc), better tablet layout, and better widgets.
