I made a few 4x5 widgets for 4x5 Rosie following the tutorial at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697994. These were the 4x4 Weather, all the mail widgets, 4x4 music, and the two 4x4 calendars. After rebuilding and pushing to /system/app, the weather widget worked fine, but when trying to add the other ones to the homescreen, I would get a message saying that I did not have enough screen space even though I had 5 empty screens. How can I get rid of this message?
bump 10char
same problem...
all my 4x4 widget take me error space (but when i cook my rom and boot the weather and location are ok, but if i delete it and test to re enable i have this error message.....)
have you an idea (Desire HD v1.84 base)
thanks a lot
Wow thanks for replying, I had given up on this thread.
I found that some people's 4x5 widgets would fit, while other would not. Interestingly, this is not a problem with that exact widget; my 4x5 weather would fit but my music widget would not while another person's music widget would fit, but not their weather widget. I guess you may have to build multiple times until the issue is resolved.
Sorry, I can't be of much more help, as I left Sense for CM7 and may not be back for a while. Though if you have any good idea of how to fix this problem other than the tedious solution I mentioned, I will be happy to flash back.

Hi, I love the sense widgets, and the Launcher Pro bottom bar and app menu. Is there any way to get the best of both?
Like this: (but not with the background clash)
Thanks, Andy
You may want to check out SenseHERO 2.1 B5 as it has something very similar.

I have used this rom and like it very much.

unfortunately, sense widgets and launcherPro cannot co-exist...I think the best solution is to keep launcher pro and use some widget sense-like..
for example:
htc clock-> fancy widget
emails and sms-->pure messenger widget
calendar-->Pure Grid calender Widget
i don't remember other htc widgets...if u need more help just ask to me
The small clock widget and the small wheater?
LauncherPro Plus
Buy LauncherPro Plus ($2.99 via Paypal). It contains Sense-style widgets for people, bookmarks, calendar and messaging.
For clock % weather I advise Beautiful Widgets (EUR 1.49) or Fancy Widget (for free).

Where can you get fancywidget? It doesn't appear to be on the market anymore?
EDIT: Nevermind, donned an eyepatch, hopped on a ship and floated to a website that had it.
How to surivive on an Android device without Sense
First step: Download Launcher Pro from the Market and donate $2.99 to unlock the Plus features. When unlocked you can add People, Bookmarks, Messaging, Calender and a Twitter widget very similar to the Sense widgets.
The second step is downloading BeautifulWidgets. You can get it at Market or AppBrain. It's a skinable clock/weather widget, similar to the sense clock with over 180+ skins. You're bound to find something that tickles your fancy if you like the Sense look.
The third step is downloading some widgets that look really sweet on your homescreen. Some of my personal favorites are:
- Digital Clock Widget
- Tajm
- BattStatt
- Pure Messenger
- Pure Calender
- Pure Music
- Weatherbug Elite
- 3G Watchdog
- Desktop Visualizer (for making icons/shortcuts)
- SD Card Storage Widget
- Inernal Phone Storage
- System Info Widget
When I made the jump from Sense to a ROM without, I missed it a lot. But only because I didn't know about all the apps/widgets that are actually out there. Good luck.
For some widgets, Astrid for example, I can't seem to stretch the widget. For example, when I long press and get the option as to how many pixels I want I enter 4x2. When the Astrid box is placed on my screen it's still the same size (2x2) as it would be if I hadn't entered 4x2. The only difference is I can long click around the widget to move it as if it was occupying that space. Is there anyway I can actually make it (and other widgets) to actually occupy the 4x2 space?
Also, I can't seem to move widgets into corner spaces on my screen or exactly where I would like them to be on the screen.
I'm running CM6 stable, Froyo, ADW Launcher, on a rooted N1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ADW resizes the spaces used by widgets (as does LauncherPro) but it can not force the widget to resize the graphics within that space. If the widget is designed with resizable elements it will "grow" or "shrink" accordingly. If it has not been designed for this then you will get the experience you have. There's nothing you can do about this.
The (standard) screen has a 4x4 grid, widget and icon placement must conform to this, you can not place widgets or shortcuts in the "gaps".

Thanks for the information.
I'm trying to create a new look on my phone and I'm currently using LauncherPro Plus. I can't post a link to the design I'm going for since I haven't hit 8 posts yet, but basically I have gTab Simi Clock set up to fill half of the screen with a semi-transparent background and I want to overlay a beautiful widgets weather setup on top of the Simi Clock.
Every time I try to place the BW widget on up it gets shuffled above or below it. How do I set it up so the widgets will overlay?
Thanks
Add simi clock first, add bw after and resize it. Resize simi over bw. Restart launcher pro.

Thank you kindly sir! That worked perfectly.
It seems this only works for the homescreen you're currently looking at. For example, if I'm looking at homescreen 2 and reset LauncherPro, the widgets will be properly layered on that screen, but reversed on the others. If I go to homescreen 1 and reset LauncherPro while looking at it, homescreen 2 will then be improperly layered. The only "fix" seems to be to intentionally incorrectly layer every screen but one, and then reset LauncherPro while looking at that screen.
I've posted a bug report on the LauncherPro boards. Hopefully we'll see a fix soon.
I looked for a list of widgets and was unable to find one. So Im starting a list here. Please post a list of widgets you're using or ones you know of that work good on the G Tab. Thanks.

Good thread idea. I'm a newb, and still looking for good widgets.
So far I'm using Fancy Widget, and Widgetsoid.
Here's a list of the widgets I'm using or have used:
Beautiful Widgets tablet beta
Fancy Widget
Elixir(has tons of widgets and info buttons available)
Weatherbug Elite
Express News
Elixir is the one I'm using at the moment for all power control options, and Beautiful Widgets Tablet for my weather widget.

Do all the Elixir buttons work? I tried the Sound toggle as well as Reboot of Widgetsiod, but neither seem to work.
I haven't tried the reboot toggle, but the sound/mute toggle works well.
Im still trying to find a good RSS widget.
Scrollable News widget is great for RSS feeds. You do need a launcher that supports scrollable widget, such as LP or ADW
I use WeatherBug on my phone and love it but it FCs on my gtab. Instead I use The Weather Channel's widget, it works well and with the largest version it shows plenty of information.
For my RSS needs I'm currently using Google Reader but am not always happy with it. I wish Reddit is fun had a widget.
I also use the stock Power widget.

Thanks, this is great! Have to add a few more home screens now just to have RSS feeds.

That looks nice. What launcher is that? It looks very clean.

It's VT Launcher and I used the LauncherProIcons app to get the LP style icons, and bettercut to apply them. The rest is CM7 with the honeycomb status icons addition.
Widget failed to load
How many widget users have the issue of a widget failing to load after a few days, the only solution being dump the widget and reload it.
Not a big issue, just wondering if it is a launcherPro issue (my default) or a modded gtab issue. LauncherPro native widgets seem to do better.

Hi manikin13,
I havent really had issues unless Im messing around with the settings on my launcher. Im using VTL.Launcher and when i changed the dock background settings some widgets went squirrley. I would say its your launcher. Maybe uninstall and reinstall might fix it.
if anyone needs a good news widget, AtomaRSS is definitely one of the best
When I picked up my S6E, I really liked the stock Weather widget that's part of TouchWiz. I always find myself back using Apex Launcher and my S6E is no exception. I've installed it and set it up just the way I like it and the one disappointment I have is the stock weather widget isn't available
When accessing widgets from the app drawer it doesn't even show. Long pressing on the home screen, and selecting widgets that way shows the "weather" widget as a 4 x 2 widget but regardless of where I try to put it - even on a clean screen gives me a "not enough space to place . . . " error. It's really a 4 x 1 widget.
I know there are options like Zooper widgets that have addons with a similar look but none has access to the built in Accuweather app.
Anybody figure out how to use the stock weather widget with Apex or any other non-TouchWiz launcher?
This would be awesome! !

I've tried to get it to work on both the GS3, GS4, GS4, Note 3, etc ... and nothing works...so definitely not a new problem! I was able to tear it apart enough on the GS3 to get it to show on Apex launcher ... but it wouldn't update, show location, or work when you clicked on it.
As to this point, I haven't found a widget I like more than the stock TW one. Beautiful Widgets used to have some nice looking ones, but honestly it's been about 3 years since I've even looked at the app so I wouldn't know what they've got these days.

Here's my solution, adapted from the discussion HERE. I use Zooper Widget Pro and the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme. It's by far the most spot-on widget compared to the actual stock version. In fact, from the stock clock and weather on the lock screen, you really can't tell the difference between it and the Zooper widget version.
1. Install Zooper Widget Pro
2. Install the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme
3. Install Desktop VisualizeR
4. Create a 4 x 1, 4 x 2, etc. Zooper Widget and select the S6 Widgets Theme. The widget option that looks exactly like the stock version is the one with a "45" in the title (the angle of the shadow)
Land it on the desktop one row below where you actually want to place it.
5, Long-press the home screen and select Applications - Clock ---> do this twice
6. Open Desktop VisualizeR and create a shortcut the following way: select a transparent image (attached below) as the shortcut Image. Click Select Action - Others - Activities - Weather - Weather. Title the shortcut "Weather". Select Apex Launcher as the target launcher ---> do this twice.
7. Now, long press on the 4 shortcut icons, one at a time and choose edit. Change the clock icons to the same transparent alpha you used for the Desktop VisualizeR shortcuts and delete the shortcut names. For the weather shortcuts, just edit and delete the names.
8. You're now left with for transparent shortcuts.
9. Long press the clock widget and select Resize. Using the nodes on the widget, move the top up and then the bottom.
You're left with the Zooper Widget with transparent shortcuts overlaid that open the clock and the stock weather app. There's a few shortcuts you can do like set the default click-on action in the widget settings to open the clock which will eliminate the need to add those two shortcuts but this way gives you a little more flexibility like assigning different actions to the hour and minute location.
Only very slight annoyance is that the widget uses open weather as the provider which sometimes slightly mismatches with accuweather re: location name and temperature.
Worked very well Jeff. Love it thanks.
