[Q] A problem with Skype on the Nexus one - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have the skype app installed, I use it occasionally, and start it up manually when I need it.
Never had any problem with it, until recently -
I flashed my phone's ROM, and re-installed my apps, I'm not sure if I downloaded an update for the skype app or not.
Ever since I'm with the new setup, every time I try to dial someone, a window pops up and asks me if I want to use the default android dialer or 'SkypeOut', without any 'use this as default' checkbox...
this is extremely annoying!
anyone else experienced this problem?
I dont want/need any pop-ups from skype, especially not when I dial someone...
Ideas? Anyone?
Thanks in advance!

Who is using Dialer One? I need help

I'm using the Dialer One app from the market, and I'm having a problem with contacts. When I use the smart dialer (ie: type in the person's name) on the keypad, a few of my contacts are not listed there...but then when I go into contacts, and search for them manually they are there.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is there a fix? How? Thanks in advance for any help!
hmm, no, I have not noticed that, but I hardly ever actually use my phone as a phone. There are really only like 5 numbers a call regularly, and they all pop up. I'll have to poke at it a bit and see if I get the same issue.
Bump. Anyone know anything?
It works perfectly fine for me idk.. Iv used it for about 2 weeks now without a problem.
I figured it out...first I uninstalled and reinstalled. Then I went into settings within the app and set default to contacts. Hope that helps anyone else. With this problem

[Q] Messages Glitch

I have recently flashed DDJG4 and its by far the smoothest eclair for me but I have noticed that some of my contacts have a bug in messaging. Only their number shows up opposed to their name. This is annoying as I dont know who the message is from unless i open the contact details.
Contact details is fine, no problem. Just the messaging app.
Anyone else notice this? any fix ideas?
thanks
don't have enough messages from different people to confirm (only 4 so far). however, on a related note, do you see a long delay between unlocking the screen using the puzzle piece and the corresponding message opening in the messaging app?
Not checked. I use pattern lock. Ill have a go and see.

Sorry to say, but its just you.
I have over 41 conversations and all the names display correctly.
I noticed lagging on the lock screen to messaging in ddjf3
In ddjg4 there is no more lag anywhere.
I put the ext2 1gb lagfix just for the heck of it and the phone is now faster than me.
Reflash and see whats wrong.
Use the Backup apps from ritesh sahu.
I use them to backup my data before flashing.
I have the same problem too when I imported/restored about 150 old messages. Did you manage somehow to get rid of the problem? On my phone it's only some contacts where only the number is shown and not connected to a contact. This problem started for me when changing to the jm firmware line. For the jf and jg firmwares this problem does not appear.
Strangely, handcent sms has no problem with the sms/contacts. Therefore, this has to be a bug in the samsung sms application, not in our data.

[Q] unable to send or receive texts

If anyone wants a Google music beta invite, i have a few and would happily give you one if you could help me solve this problem!
After having problems with my touch screen i took the phone into sprint and they replaced the touch screen and key panel, however now, I am unable to send or receive text messages. I do not receive any errors upon sending and i have tried updating PRL, Profile, done a hard reset, flashed different roms, etc. I have a feeling it has something to do with Google voice interfering with the messaging apps. I have uninstalled Google voice but to no avail.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
BTW I am running Cyanogen mod 7 R.C.1
Update:
I just installed google voice and a slew of text messages came back, however i still can not get them to appear in my messaging app. The people at sprint arent very helpful so im turning to you guys at XDA. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Anybody got any ideas?
Well I'd just sync ur Gmail account and just start over cuz u can go In circles with this....
Factory reset and reflash cm7 and it's gapps....
Do not do any titanium back cuz ur problem will follow u..
Then it all works make sure u back it up before u add anything to it so u have a solid base backup to go to.
Good luck

I would call Sprint and tell them that you Installed GoogleVoice and now your VoiceMail is all Messed up! I know VoiceMail isn't your problem but I Guaranty GoogleVoice is your problem Effecting All your Messages!
I recently had to do Exactly what I'm suggesting! They'll be able to see from their end that the Sprint VoiceMail has been Changed, Tell them to Switch you Back to the Sprint VoiceMail as your Default!

anyone use 8x8 virtual office?

I have VOIP phone service at my office through 8x8 (formerly Packet8) and they offer an app called "Virtual Office." Basically it lets you use WiFi (or 3g if you wish) to turn your cel phone into another VOIP phone extension. So you can call out and it will look like you're calling from your VOIP number, you can access your VOIP extensions and voice mail, etc.
Sounded good, so I installed it back in May. I recall it working, but the app was always trying to make me pick VOIP or AT&T for every call, so I uninstalled. I think I was running Cog 4.2 or so back then.
I'm now running Cognition 5 v.2 on my Cappy, and decided to re-install the app as I was having problems with my office phone wiring, and I can't get the app to work now. It asks for my 8x8 "username" and "password" and then has a "login" button. If I put in the wrong info it will attempt to connect and return an error message "incorrect username/password" If I put in the right info it pops up a "connecting" dialog that just endlessly tries to connect.
I've re-installed the original app from TiBu, uninstalled and re-installed from the market, and still have this problem.
When I called 8x8 support, they said that they know the app just doesn't work on some phones, but they don't have a list of phones to tell me if my i897 is one of them
So is anyone else on XDA an 8x8 subscriber that has been able to use this app?
If so can you tell me what ROM you're using and how you got the app running?
TIA
So I take this LONG silence as a NO I guess

[Q] "Unfortunately, Dialer has stopped."

This issue has been bugging me for quite some time now. I can't access the dialer at all. Clicking phone numbers through a text or a website results in the same message popping up and then closing. The 'Dialer' app will appear for a split second followed by the error. The only way I have been able to make calls is to save the number and calling them through 'Contacts' or the call button from Hangouts.
What is also weird is that from the lock screen I can access 'Emergency call' with no issues. Never had this issue prior to updating to 4.4 (Also, the caller ID feature isn't enabled or there for some reason..). Stock with unlocked bootloader, no root. Switching back to Dalvik from ART didn't resolve it either. However, I had the same issue with my GNex but I had that phone rooted with CM 10.2 Nightlies so I assumed the issue was with the roms.
Anyone have a fix for this issue (other than installing a 3rd party dialer app)?

Do you have Youmail installed by chance? Or any app that syncs to the dialer for contact info?

Huh. As a matter of fact, I do. I was thinking that YouMail may have been causing some issues but I was unable to troubleshoot it so that I could get the dialer to work again. Suggestions?? Thanks for your help so far :good:

Yeah I had the same problem. I ended up uninstalling youmail and I got in touch with them on their getsatisfaction.com forum. They pushed out an update, uninstalling and reinstalling with the new update fixed the problem for me.
