I was trying to flash a new kernel, and so i wiped the 2 caches and now im stuck on the Clockwork Recovery Screen. I try rebooting, and all it does is just go back to the Recovery screen. Please help, i want to use my nook color again.
Do you have previously created backup on your SD card ?
If so just restore.
Unfortunatly, i didnt. I just got it a couple days ago and am brand new to all these mods.
me too
This just happened to me as well. I even had a backup image and restored, but it would still loop. I used the following zip which removes clockwork recovery (thanks to the OP that originally posted this) and it then it worked.

I think this is beginning of beautiful relationship
Some additional info that may be relevant or not...
Some users have reported that after clearing the dalvik cache in CWR (as part of the process to flash a custom kernel), the screen locks up and they are unable to return to the main recovery screen.
This was resolved by 1) hook up your nook to the wall charger, 2) hold the power button which will force a reboot, 3) after your nook reboots to its normal screen, restart the kernel flash procedure from the beginning, 4) after you clear the dalvik cache, do not touch anything for at least 30 seconds
After step 4, CWR usually doesn't lock up and you should be able to navigate back to the main recovery screen to finish the kernel flash process. For some reason or another, the nook just needs a little time after clearing the dalvik cache before you can press any buttons.

I have had the same issue as the OP using ROM Manager to install 3.0.0.5 on 1.1.0 using Auto-Nooter 3.0.0. I was able to use the quoted method to break out (for the record I did so before reading this post ). However, I ran into the problem again after a full reroot and am still looking for a permanent solution to the problem.

Thanx a million, worked like a charm.
Thanks... But one other question...
Thanks for this got me out of the CWR bootloop, but now I'm stuck on the android splash screen.
UPDATE: Just tried to start all over and now it got me a bit further, but to a black screen with a white banner up top that says "Android System"...
Another noob question, sorry. Will this also restore the stock BN recovery? Regardless, thanks.

I found a work around. Open cwr..flash recovery, exit recovery, reboot from quick boot . Once rebooted go back to cwr flash recovery, reboot into recovery, clear cache flash zip..reboot. This has worked numerous times for me.

This is assuming that CWR is on internal memory.. if you are booting CWR from SD.. you need to take out the SD card then boot up.

when i opened rom manager and choose the rom i wanted to install it asked if i wanted to wipe and backup or something but i know i check both. then i install the zip in the recovery boot menu and rebooted and no luck. then i tried another rom and wiped before installing and still no luck.
At the very top of rom manager, you must flash 2.5.0.1 recovery. Did you do this first?

This exact same thing happened to me. What I did to fix it was pull the battery, then wipe everything (dalvik, data, cache), and then rebooted. My phone was able to boot then.
I'm having the same problem with rom manager. I just rooted my desire using the unrevoked method, then ran rom manager. I did install the recovery mode first, then backed up the rom. How my desire is just rebooting to the htc screen. How do I get out of this?
Many thanks,

Hey, that's exactly the same issuing I'm experiencing now. Did you solve it? And if yes, how?
Well, a few hours later I solved it by restoring a backup and then booting went well. Also described in a thread on androidforums dot com (I can't enter the link here due to not having posted enough messages) .

I don't know if this helps, but I'm pretty sure nandroids are specific to which recovery they were created with, I read that somewhere a few days ago. If you did not have clockwork before, I would try getting the recovery you used to make the nand, install that recovery and then restore the nand. Then try the whole wipe everything and get clockwork and go to town. If you haven't tried RA/Darch 1.7 recovery, I would recommend it, I personally like it better than clockwork, it seems faster, and simpler to use.
Exactly What "Il Duce" Said Will Fix Your Problem, Same Exact Thing Happened To Me, What I Did Was Go Back To Previous Version Of Rom Manager Then Flash Alternate Recovery, AND Regular Clockwork Recovery, Should Be Good After That!

Thanks for the quick reply!
Am not sure I did; I think it asked me if I wanted to back up the current rom and I think I clicked not to. Either way, I cannot do anything in CWM, what ever I choose gets stuck at the little hat with the arrow and I have to pull the battery.
It's not a big deal (I hope at least) to revert back to an original image, as it's my back-up phone so I don't use it daily. Hope it's easier than that though..
I would say reverting back to an original image via the passimg trick would be your best option right now (unless your bootloader is unlocked?)

It is unlocked. Any magic trick..?!
EDIT: I can enter the options in CWM. Being used of the Atrix I was pressing the on/off button instead of the trackball to choose. Ffs.. Anyway, I tried wiping the data, no go; still stuck on bootscreen
I would try restoring a backup if you have one. If not, just do a wipe and clean install...
Unlocked bootloader could've been used to install a new recovery, though that now looks it was operator error... xD

I have kind of the same issue but I am still stuck..
I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted atrix, everything was fine until I installed gingerblur through the cwm ( I chose to install from the sd card ), once I did that it finished what it was doing then I used the reboot feature through cwm. My phone is now not moving past the motorola dual core screen. It still says unlocked at the top left and I can still enter cwm and fastboot. I have read alot about trying to flash through fastboot, but I am sorry I am a newb and do not know how to flash through fastboot. I am desperate for help... any help would greatly be appreciated.
If you can still access recovery, I would try a full wipe and instal again...
Thank you for your response... I did as you said and wiped everything... found a .zip file for android 2.3.4 gingerbread and installed that through cwm. I now have a new question... what is the best way to create a nandroid backup?? I went in android recovery mode on the boot screen and proceeded to backup through the menus and saved it to my external sd card... the only problem is that when I tried to restore back to the backup I made before it kept giving errors while trying to install the backup file. Any ideas how I can successfully create a android backup on this ATRIX 4g??

A friend of mine suggested that I try Cyanogenmod, so I decided to flash my Galaxy Mini. The first problem was the bootloop, and no matter how many times I wiped the phone, it was always stuck at the Android text. So I decided to try the Honeycomb mod. Same happened. So I decided to flash it with Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. At last, it started working. However, Google Play still sees every application as "installed" (but of course they aren't), and when I try to delete from GP, nothing happens. After trying to install other applications, I realized that I cannot install anything from the market. Any idea how I could solve this problem? I would be very grateful.

Yes I did. I used CWM 5.0.2.6. The funny part is that after being turned off 3 times, Google Play started working But if there's a solution to the bootloop problem I would love to hear it. I searched this forum and the internet and nothing, even though I followed a cyanogenmod wiki's guide.

So I downloaded the new recovery, flashed it via Odin, and now nothing works. When I enter recovery it says that it can't mount /cache/log and /cache/recovery (I think it says these two). I looked around and found that it could be stuck in a bootloop, but luckily Android loads. However, I can't root my phone due to several errors, so I can't install Cyanogen mod. Thanks very much Here is what I did step by step:
I returned to the stock recovery by installing the stock firmware. I rooted the phone with stock recovery. Then I installed CWM recovery 5.2.0.8, but I still get the same error in CWM: it can't mount a few things. I still tried installing Cyanogen without wiping, and of course it's stuck at the boot screen with the Android text (I had a feeling that it wouldn't work if the recovery is not fully operational, so I did not want to lose every contact for nothing again). I read that this problem can be solved by formatting the SDCard, so I tried formatting it with PC and the phone also, but nothing. So now I'm back to the stock firmware and recovery with my phone rooted and no idea how to solve any of the problems.

This was just a trial run due to the new CWM recovery. If you read back, I already wrote that I tried wiping both data and cache before and after flashing Cyanogen mod. This "mounting" problem only came up with the new CWM recovery, 5.2.0.8.
The basic Google Apps were all there, since I used a rom from sammobile.com, downloaded programs like poweramp were the ones that did not work.

Yes, I guess I will stay with the stock :/ Though I'll try again when a new CWM recovery and a new Cyanogen mod come out.
Attached is a flashable zip of CWM 5.0.2.0. I successfully installed the file from CWM, CWM Touch, and TWRP.
Good luck!
(All the usual warnings apply: flash at your own risk, etc., etc.)

Back Story:
Today I was flashing an alternate recovery when I got stuck at the boot logo. I (foolishly) had no other zip flashable recoveries on my phone. Since I had no PC access, I was SOL until I got home. I searched the forum and found no flashable standard CWM recovery. So, I decided to make one.
Do yourself a favor, save a copy on your sd card and hope you never need it!
I think all recoveries in THIS thread can be flashed via recovery. Just choose the zip format and colors of your choice. I've tried before flashing via TWRP. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
You are correct. And romracer's recovery is great, but I wanted CWM.

Question - why is it necessary to format /cache before flashing? I mean, the recovery log is in there (/cache/recovery/log).

Not exactly.. It's when we wanna change recovery to others. Like changing TWRP to any button recoveries. But,we still can access recovery. If we can't access recovery, the only way is by flashing image format via fastboot command.
Before I made this file I analyzed other zip flashable recoveries, and they wiped cache as well. I don't fully understand why myself. Maybe for the very purpose of clearing the recovery log? Maybe because we are taught to always clear the cache before flashing anything and it's just a habit?

I could access recovery. I just couldn't get past the boot logo. I did say "boot loop" instead of "boot logo" in the original post (I corrected that - my bad). Was this the source of your confusion?

I think he was confused about why would you want to flash recovery if you already have a working recovery? And if you don't have a working recovery, a flashable recovery won't help. IE, he thought this is for emergency purposes, but in case your recovery is malfunctioning.

Having a flashable recovery if your recovery works allows for easy switching. I'm not (yet) a touch recovery fan, but some roms require them.
I was trying to install a touch recovery when the install failed (bad download I think - I downloaded another copy and it installed fine). My phone would not boot past the logo, but I could boot to recovery. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot a few times, re-flashed the recovery, fixed permissions, etc. to no avail. I had no PC access, so I couldn't fastboot a recovery. So, I had no phone for a few hours. During that time I was wishing I had a recovery flashable recovery (if I hadn't recently deleted a copy of romracer's recovery from my phone I would have been good to go). I made one, pulled my sd card and loaded the file, replaced the sd card, booted to recovery, then flashed the recovery I made. The abridged version is the back story in the OP. Anyway, that brings us to the whole point of this thread.
Edit:
I think I set a record for most times using the word "recovery" in a single post.
Although I do appreciate your contributions... I refuse to do any flashing whatsoever unless I have PC access or it's already a dire emergency.
Nandroid -> Titanium Backup -> MyBackup -> Image SD Card (With all three backups) to desktop / laptop -> blast everything on phone to kingdom come -> begin whatever flashing that I probably shouldn't be doing...
Probably overkill, yes; but your remote flashing with no PC access? You sir, are a brave soul.
Normally I am almost as cautious as you. But I was at a really boring offsite meeting. But, I learned my lesson.

Hi
I have a p7320 which I am trying to install a custom ROM to, and I am having some trouble.
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569122
1: flashed cwd through odin
2: flashed superuser through cwm
All fine until now
3: then I flashed the kernel from the same site through cwm
4: bootloop
I didnt take backup, so I couldnt nandroid back
I couldnt turn the device on, so I couldnt transfer another kernel
There were no "mount USB" in cwm so I couldnt transfer the files there either.
I was able to go into download mode, and I flashed the only stock rom I could find in .tar (flashable through odin)
from here: http://androidromupdate.com/2012/12/12/u-s-att-samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-lte-sgh-i957-android-4-0-4-ice-cream-sandwich-update-finally-arrives/
flashing went fine and the tab booted.
Now I went back and flashed cwm again through odin, but when I was going to place superuser and the new rom on the sdcard.... there is no room on the tab.
In explorer it says : 0 byte available out of 26.9MB
This tab is 16GB.... what happened?
I cant transfer files to it, so the only thing I can flash is the .tar files through odin.
please help

Hmmm, this is usually a sdcard mount thing
so maybe all you have to do is reboot to CWM do a format /sdcard from mount and unmount section in CWM
then reboot to system and see if the problem still there

There is no such thing as format/sdcard in that section.

Hi
There is no such thing as format/sdcard in that section.
Only format/cache, format/data and format/system

this probably means that your CWM version is old [5.5.0.4 I guess]
I don't know if your tab has a newer CWM cuz my tab is p7300,
so try to find a newer one or even try TWRP instead, cuz it also has sdcard format function
one little thing, you said your tab is P7320 and yet you have installed a SGH-I957 ROM {read it from your link}
I honestly don't know the deference between the two devices
what I'm trying to say is: maybe the problem is because you're using a ROM for a different device
so maybe you should try THIS [the latest ICS Odin tar samsung framework for P7320]
I have a p7320 and I am using this ROM.

Fast, no bloatware, no freezing.
I followed the instructions no problems. My recovery UI has an option partition SD card under advanced. Dont know if that will help you.

Hi
I was able to download another .tar full stock rom which I flashed with odin.
Worked out fine, and the memory of the SD card is back.
However... I once again flashed cwm and superuser, then i tried the rom you are linking to but the tab wont boot with it
Its just stuck with a black screen after the logo.
Now I have reflashed the stock rom with working sd card
Sorry about that. I remember I had a black screen for a few minutes but eventually it booted. The developer also pointed out boot animations are missing

Hi,
I'm the developer working on the CM10 ROM for the P7320 - yes, the first boot might take a while, and it doesn't show a boot animation, so it might look like it's crashed. But I have tested going from the stock ICS image to my ROM a few times and it seems to work fine, eventually. Perhaps you could give it another go and see?
Cheers.

Hi
I will definetely give it another go this evening
Can i flash superuser, your rom and gapps in one go? Or do I have to boot it in between?
thank you for your answer
The ROM should have super user already, so you shouldn't need that. You can do the ROM and gapps together.
I tried again, and this time it worked like a charm!
Thank you!

What am I doing wrong. My device starts to cyanogenmod boot animation but not further.
Do I have to do the dalvik wipe and cache wipe?
I think i have tried everything. It's been rolling boot animation about 30 minutes now.
Sorry about my bad language.
And thank you for your answers.
I dont have a solution. Is this the first time you use this ROM? One time I wanted to revert to stock to check something and I got an everlasting Samsung animation until I did a factory reset from recovery. Did you try factory reset?
