Any way to split the screen to see two applications at once, such as an e-reader and a note taking application...beneficial in landscape mode?
Thank you!

Hi guys,
I am currently using Gsen to get the SMS and EMAIL screens to display in Landscape mode, this way I find it easier to type using 2 thumbs on the full qwerty keyboard. Unfortunately it's not that good as it often reverts back to portrait and then quits the SMS or EMAIL screen if you happen to move the phone too much.
Therefore I would like to know if there is a regisry key somewhere I could change to get this 2 screens to display in Landscape mode by default.
Thanks.
Look what I found...........

Thanks, that's pretty close to what I need but it means you lose the use of the 'phone' button. Or does it only work witha long press?
Plus I would really like something which doesn't require any intervention.
But thanks again.
Just a little UP.
I am still struggling when using Gsen as it randomly gets back on portrait mode and kicks me out of the SMS app.
Is there a registry key which says if an app is displayed in landscape or portrait?
Cheers
Can someone make an app for the Today screen that would allow the blank space on the screen to react to a touch by "pushing" the Today screen items off the screen so i can just see my wallpaper and top & bottom nav bars? Touching the screen that does not cause another Today item to activate would use the blank space on the screen to be used as an action. when touched it would either push the items off the screen or simpy make them dissappear or re-appear... The home screen can get so cluttered with all the notifications and info, sometimes it's nice to just see the background image.
thoughts?
SecondToday, SPB Pocket Plus, etc...
or you could use ultimatelaunch. this would create you multiple tabs which you can access by swiping the screen to the left or right and giving you access to multiple different setups. you can include today plugins into the plugin which makes it very customizable.
cheers
yes, I'm aware of those apps, I was looking for something with more screen effect that could remove the clutter without adding more pages/screens. it's already a linux screen effect in the desktop OS world, i thought it'd be cool to see on a Kaiser/Tilt
I was wondering if there was a way to lock apps in landscape mode? For instance, maps. When using maps to navigate I like the phone to be in landscape but it will jump between portrait and landscape with the slightest movement of my leg (the phone is sitting on my leg while I drive) and it gets pretty annoying while trying to follow directions.
I wish.
Apps don't have to be written to be in whatever view. So it can't be forced.
And I've always wanted a root permission that could force apps in landscape but it's never happened.

"Also, apps that use the accelerometer directly to reorient themselves sometimes compete with the system doing the same thing, with odd results. And finally, some apps that use the accelerometer to detect things like shaking motions and that don't lock their orientation to portrait or landscape, often end up flipping back and forth between orientations. This can be irritating to the user. (You can lock your app's orientation to portrait or landscape using the 'android:screenOrientation' attribute in your AndroidManifest.xml.)"
1) Open the keyboard. There, stuck in landscape.
2) Hack the XML.

The OP doesn't have a keyboard to open (MT3G), so option 1 is out.
This is the DREAM forum. It is therefore, a perfectly valid answer.

Option (2) actually isn't difficult.
Hi everyone! How can I make three screens with no scrolling, that is I can't swipe between screens but can select the screen by pinching in and selecting the screen. I need this because I am trying to make a screen where it has shortcuts to go to the next screen. So I want to restrict swiping between screens and only use those shortcuts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Use SSlaucher

Try SSlauncher.
I had exactly what you described on my Galaxy S in it worked perfectly. My screens were set up similar to an old telephone address book. On the right hand side of every one of the 9 screens I had were the numbers 1-9. I was the "home" screen. Under the numbers, that went from the bottom to the top of the screen were short description on what was of that screen. Things like "Home", "Office", "Daily", "Games", "Photo"
It was a joy to use and looked very cool with a smooth transition from screen to screen called "Flow".
One of the nicest things -apart from not having to swipe all the time- was that from the "Home" screen to screen 9 did not mean that 8 other screens had to fly past. The next screed regardless of the number always appeared to be the next screen!
SSlauncher also allows you to switch of "swiping" and even have a different background on each screen.
One warning. Do not be put off buy the developers terrible examples on the Play Store or the learning curve. Go to www.mycolorscreen.? for inspiration.
Don't hesitate to pm for help if you need it.

Hi... when I swipe right from the home screen I get a split screen. Is there a way to customize that to put whatever apps you want?
Also... when I open AA it always defaults to the Map. Is there a way to customize the default screen?
Thanks
