[PIT]831 ODIN PIT File for 4G Devices ONLY!!!! - Vibrant Android Development

Here is a new pit file for everyone. It was received with a package I was given.
It works for the Samsung Hawk (Not out yet), The Sidekick 4G (Not out yet) and the Vibrant 4G (Not out yet)
Enjoy!
Link Removed.
Thanks to a tester, This will not repartition the Samsung Vibrant. So, this is just a leak for a new PIT.
If you don't know what this is, then it does not pertain to you. This is for upcoming devices such as the Vibrant 4G. Since there is no 4G section yet, it has been posted here. Many people, including myself like to have a store so to speak with anything and everything phone related.

What exactly does this mean?

Yeah. I dont know much about Odin other than it saves my ass every now and again. Will this be replacing the 512 PIT in the new Odin?

Why would the mapping change?

is this a rom/modem/kernel? i understand it's like the 512 pit file (stock). is this like a 2.2?

What's this for though
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

I thought the 512 pit was used to designate the layout for memory . Am I wrong?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk

If you dont know what a PIT is, then you really shouldn't be in the dev section.
And NO! This is NOT a ROM, MODEM, KERNEL.

I dont even use a pit when using ODIN. I haven't since Aug.

Nice Krylon Thank you,

I understand that the .pit files handle the partitioning of the internal SD ? Right
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk

So my question is why are we changing from a 512 partition size to an 831?

you can try this out for yourself on a usb thumb drive. format one with one smaller size format. run some data transfers on it. then re-format using a larger size format. re-do the same data transfers and see what kind of performance increase you get.

so let me be the one to ask the dumbass question krylon,
if i use the 831 PIT with the T959JFD TAR in the new Odin you posted (thanks btw)
its just like using the 512 PIT?
i'll still end up with stock JFD 2.1 right?

Hmm this is interesting.

This rom is for stock on the USA Vibrant, or the international Galaxy S phones?
Guys I can confirm that this helps with 3g speeds and connection. I had my co workers test their stock untouched vibrant side by side in speedtest and it was horrible compared to mine I was getting up to 5Mbps up 1.5 down. They were getting less than 1Mbps. I reflashed one of those phones and sure enough speeds improved almost to mine.

[ROM]T959KA5 CWM-DeOdex-Root-Modded 3e-[2011.01.13]

EDIT: DUE TO SAMSUNG CHANGING THE SMALI BINARIES, THE APK'S AND JAR FILES DID NOT RECOMPILE CORRECTLY. Because of this, when you flash, you will be greeted with about 1/4 of the apps, and only 1 icon on the launcher, and a lot of FC's from acore. I am working to resolve this, but seeing as how I haven't gotten any work done today, It wont be until later I can get to this. I have removed the link for the time being.
I apologize to anyone who did flash this before this was identified.
Here you guys go.
Sorry it took so long to get this up. Samsung updated the smali binaries, so I had to update mine (thanks Sombionix)
Removed a couple of Apps to allow for system space. (I saw on the Odex'd thread that some people wanted Layer, so I left that for you.
Here we go:
Firmware: UVKA5
Version: 2.2
Basband: T959UVKA5
Rooted: Yes
DeOdexed: Yes

Correct CSC Files: Yes

[DEV]Vibrant 4G Binary Files

So, in doing my daily scan of TMO and Sammy servers, I came across these files. These are Binary files, so not sure what to do with them yet.
http://www.multiupload.com/JRQ12SCY1Q
Files included are
delta_T959VUVJKD_T959VUVJKE_Rev00
delta_T959VUVJKE_T959VUVJKD_Rev00
Dummy_delta_T959VUVKA6_T959VUVKA7_Rev0506
Dummy_delta_T959VUVKA7_T959VUVKA6_Rev0506
samsung_delta_t959vuvjld_to_t959vuvkaanull

Read the op
Since you're indicating Vibrant 4G Binary files I presume that was the subdirectory they were found in? If that's the case that might lead one to conclude that the "new" phone is just a firmware difference. However, since I know zero about this that's mere conjecture.

These were found in a numbered dir. Nothing to indicate on the parent dir that it was for the Vib 4G. The dir that has the Vibrant firmware doesn't have T959V in the file names.
Nice
Is there a way to look in the filesystem so that we can read the build.prop for the Android version?

This is pretty cool...I doubt we'll be able to do anything with these files directly. They appear to be package files for RedBend, which is software, interestingly enough, used for OTA mobile software deployment.
It does show us though, that there are files out there somewhere related to the T959V, and that there may be full builds soon.
I'm really interested to see what the differences are between T959 and T959V, but only time will tell...
So excited.

Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk 2
C'mon buddy, for those who dont have pc is fine, but dependance gives a big chances to brick.. We can play whit a big list of files, but always we have a limit, even if Odin Mobile is fully optimized for Advance, pc still being the best way for flash. We are delegating a big responsability for the phone..
I know that is a good tool but, in my opinion, pc is more flexible and better way for the phone.. Even if i dont have a pc, i prefer to ask a friend if i can use his pc.. Now, if im wrong, please someone tell me, im learning day by day..
PS: I respect your opinion for Mobile Odin and if i can help to port it in any way im open for that, but i just think that pc is better and saffer..

Hello, do u go to repairing shop everytime when u want to change your os of your pc to a new version? Or else you r trying to upload it by urself? I think second option is more convenient. Then if it is possible to flash by mobile, then why u will do it by pc. If u r flashing custom kernel, there is also some kind of danger. So dont be afraid. If it is possible to flash rom by mobile itself, its very aweful. Is nt it.?
