Its been said that XPERIA PLAY is going to be available on February 13 with android 2.3 (gingerbread) pre-installed. Will this mean that Nexus One will have the update to 2.3 before XPERIA PLAY releases? Am I making myself clear? Trying not to sound confusing.
who knows, just use the custom roms here. too much threads about when gb is coming out, just wait.
Google is completely silent about the issue, so if anybody tells you otherwise, they are just guessing.
Well google said that nexus phones will be the first to get 2.3 before any other phone besides nexus s. So if xperia play come out on feb. 3, wont that mean the nexus one will have the 2.3 update right before the release of the xperia play?

Its a fact that THE developer phone will be first to get updates. In this case the nexus s is now THE developer phone. The nexus one is now just a former developer phone and is not guaranteed any updates.

Someone from Google had posted on twitter that the nexus one would get the update in a few weeks when the nexus s was released. Its been months.

I'm not denying that the nexus one is a developer phone, but it is no longer Google's main focus developer phone... that would be the nexus s. Which is why I worded my post as I did. I wasn't trying to spout mis-information, the nexus one is no longer THE developer phone for Google.... the nexus s is and it was advertised that the nexus s will get all official updates first. The nexus one can fall anywhere after that... if at all... that's Google's call. Its the basic order of how things work. We are not guaranteed 2nd dibbs before other brands or phones.
I'm sorry for the false information. I misread phone blogs here and there sometimes.
Phondog said: "It's kind of surprising that the N1 is still without its update to Gingy, but you have to imagine that Google will be pushing the OTA upgrade out some time soon. After all, it's been quite a while since 2.3 was announced, and one of the allures of the Nexuses (Nexii?) is quicker Android OS updates. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the situation, so stay tuned!"

You sound like you don't want gingerbread to happen. Well, I don't consider phondog a crappy blog site, they seem reliable to me. They also go to all events like MWC, etc. I guess its your opinion though.
Plus, they mentioned they heard that update 2.3 is coming soon from google employees.

The nexus one wasn't initially under the "Development Phones" section, only after they stopped selling it online, did they put it in there.
Same may or may not happen with the Nexus S, but it is a developer phone because it is easy to lock/unlock and also you can target the Nexus S when you build AOSP source code

I've been reading the rumors about an official Honeycomb build, and have a question.
What are the chances of a rip of that build being put up on XDA? I can't seem to restore 2.2.2, so flashing official updates OTA is out for me. If the official build comes out, does anyone here plan on uploading it so I can flash it with NVFlash, like DJ_Steve builds?

If that build is released by Dell, the chances of it being ripped and posted on XDA are over 9000.

Looks like Dell is releasing one for the WiFi version any moment, now. T-Mobile ought to be shortly following suit (already released in China). I think your estimation was a little too "approximate".

Well, as much as I like to remain positive, I haven't seen a rip, nobody on XDA claims to have the update, and my online chat with a Dell employee didn't point in the right direction. Kinda starting to lose hope...not much reason to believe an official Honeycomb build exists right now...
Even if dell has one i am not interested until it can be rooted.

I flashed honeystreak at about that time but checked before I did and just saw the standard tmo update page, not this. May have been before they posted this though.
The update is a lie.
Dell, like any company, knows how important word of mouth is. They don't want current streak owners discouraging potential new customers from making purchases. This is probably all part of their marketing. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm known for two things. Optimism about software releases, and terrible first posts. Let's break both of those here.
Like everything else in the world, it'll come out on a Friday or Tuesday, so get some sleep and only check once a day the other 5 days of the week. If you still have the box, don't worry about returns. If you must return it, take it to Walmart, they'll take anything they stock for store credit, no receipt.

After 14+ long months, I am finally leaving the Evo and Android for good. I gave it two shots (G1 and Evo), and both times it was underwhelming. I actually preferred the experience I had with the G1 than I did with the Evo.

You guys are insane someone can't say they're leaving for an iphone because they're automatically flamed and obviously stupid. I like android but I prefer ios. Yet I'm still here. Android just seems to be all over the place and all unorganized right now. It seems like I get a new phone and the week after that a new much better phone is released and our is outdated. There's also the issue where some apps don't work on some phones because of the hardware or some other bull excuse like they did with netflix. We get dumbed down apps all the time. Like they don't even care about us android users. I still love android I just wish it was better.

Your comparing software to hardware. Android ****s on ios? Is that what you mean?
If I had to weigh in I would say that neither is better, tho ios even tho stole the notification system, implemented it better then android. That's neither here nor there. I say they each offer a different user experience, yes you can get great battery life, after an android phone gets rooted and modified. Tho I have yet to be able to watch looped video on my evo for 7 hours straight...
I think the main difference is the app store, android users are cheap as ****. They will use warez, they will not donate(I'm speaking generally). So better support and better apps make their way to ios first. Yes we have the same apps on android but android fragmented system is ****ed up. I love android, but reguardless how you look at it. They are different. Really don't think people should get all pissy about it. Crazy how some people act towards another human just because they like a different phone. I think our priorities are messed up.

TechnoBuffalo reads it as KRS368 on the Nexus 7 and KRS365 on the N4, but I see it as KRS36B, which makes more sense since recent builds of Jelly Bean have a letter at the end of the build number.
Pretty interesting stuff. It's exciting to see that they already have it running on the devices. :good:

I am holding a Nexus 5 with a beta test operating system, Android Key Lime Pie. Probably it was the trial for KitKat.
I saw that something similar had already happened to one user MOD EDIT but unlike its my version is a bit different - as you can see from the system information attached - and my nexus is fully functional except for some sporadic bug system. I also have access to some menus of testing and development.
I uploaded a video on Youtube MOD EDIT where you can see the special features of this version of the operating system.

There's no such thing as rare software. Hell, if you want to, you can make more of them yourself. That's if you find enough (any?) people to make it worthwhile.

I would not advise getting these devices from retailers. There are reports that retailers have been installing malware on an already malware ridden system.

Well considering that they are known to bundle some in their selves I can't say for sure. I am banned by my job from using their devices due to security concerns.

You are very wrong and might want to do a bit of research on it. It is part Of the reason they started locking the bootloader.
Never take anything at face value. Mainly coming from China.

It's comforting to not run an AntiVirus Scan (like AVG) on MIUI.... And also not to monitor the network communications. Not knowing these things is more comforting, when buying a phone from China.
Meizu said something funny, the following quote comes from a Software developer (working at Meizu), after AVG detected suspicious behaviour in a system app:
-Global AntiVirus Software scans for different code than Chinese. We scan our Products with Chinese AntiVirus Software to guarantee that everything is fine. Don't worry.
Don't know about this.
Here are a few links from just over a year ago.
https://bluebox.com/popular-xiaomi-phone-could-put-data-at-risk/
http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...and-security-risks-up-to21-days-to-unlock.htm
There was even an article from India a fee years back about their security risks
I guess the only way to be safe is to live long enough to install some Cyanogenmod or similar.

Well now that they have locked the bootloaders and with their history of kernel source release it might be awhile.

Same here, do you see the touch screen doesn't respond on very slow movement.
If you play 8 ball pool, try taking the aim.. its very hard.
