Music player problem - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It will start automatically. Sometimes I use another player app to listen to the music, but the default music player will start automatically as well, how to solve the problem? Can I delete the default one? Many thanks

You will need root access and an app like 'root explorer' to delete any of the system apps. And about the fault, im not sure what it could be.
Sent from my Green Robot Device

any free app to do this task? Root manager is a paid app

I use root explorer too.
Maybe androzip can explore the system files.
But you must have a rooted SGS to do that !

Thanks guys. Please do help me to sort out this problem. It's so annoying. I can't play my music in the gym now! By the way I am using Darky's 9.02 rom, running fast and smooth, so I assume my device is root'ed

Its more than likely your problem is the rom especially if it was ok before .

Apps crashing after new CyanogenMod 5.0.5.2

After upgrading to 5.0.5.2, WaveSecure crashes on startup and the Market crashes when I try to download something with "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I've tried re-installing 5.0.5.2, but it's still not working.
Did you wipe? Or maybe fix uid mismatches (or whatever it is called) in recovery?
I'm having the same issue with Power Manager when it runs on startup. Just after inserting the pin code I get an alert to force close it. It kinda sucks actually...
Cherry Rplayer (which was the only radio app I could find a liked) crashes immediately when I launch it and 'A Online Radio' crashes when I first start my phone.
60 people have viewed my post and only got like one or two replies. No one will tell me are they using the latest cynogen mod and the same thing happens to them or not? Is there anything that can be done? Is this normal? Will those apps ever work if I keep the cynogen mod?
oh and spent the whole day trying to get my iTunes to the music player. Thought it was going to be fairly easy what with programs like doubleTwist - I looked into it before I got the phone - well holy crap what a nightmare!! Besides 19 of my songs being DRM protected, doubleTwist doesnt even work that great! Even with help from programs like Mp3tag songs are still not right with a few songs showing random cover art from other songs and a whole bunch of the songs saying 'unknown artist' even though the mp3 files are clearly tagged with the right song info!!!!!!!

I had to wipe in order to successfully instal the ROM. As for uid mismatches (or whatever it is called)- is that an option in recovery? What is that for what does that do? Will I have to reflash the ROM if I use it or will I loose in any data?
Wish everyone could be a little more informative to the newbies...
I've searched but cant find any info about apps force-closing, why that happens, or what can be done to correct the problem...
I am having the exact same problem with the Market FCs every time I try to install an app. I am currently troubleshooting the issue and I'm running CM 5.0.5.
So far I've..
re-flashed Google Apps add-on -> no luck
wiped Dalvik-cache -> no luck
factory/data reset then restore -> no luck
UPDATE: fix apk uid-mismatches cleared up the problem. Thanks jsapp! Boot into recovery (I'm using Amon v1.7), select Other and you should see the option.
Thanks jsapp and travon802!!! fix apk uid-mismatches now I have streaming radio again!!

For others who've experienced this, are you using MyBackup to backup/restore apps?
Only had four or five Apps but yeah I used my backup. I think it didn't backup a few of them and had to redownload from the market...
The reason I ask is because I can reproduce this issue of the Market FC'ing by restoring any app using MyBackup with the root option turned on.

Samsung stock music apk

Hey all,
I'm running Axura and I prefer the touchwiz music player that came with the Captivate. I made a Titanium Backup but I can't seem to locate the particular app that is the music app. It should be possible to extract since the touchwiz Video player is in the ROM, but the music app.
Can anyone point me to a link to download the touchwiz music player app?
Thanks! Really appreciate.

TiBu doesn't backup system apps, just their data. Attaching music player to the post.
Thanks a bunch for this!
EDIT: I'm having trouble installing this. I tried sideload wonder machine but it fails with INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT. Any help? I tried using terminal to copy it into /system/app and running the command "busybox chmod u+rwx MusicPlayer.apk" to manually set permissions for user, group, and others, except it still doesn't appear in my applications menu.

Use a file manager IE: Astro or Root explorer or really any other that is available. Move to system/app.

Nope, it depends on TouchWiz frameworks that aren't a part of the Aria's ROM.
You could try the MiUi player.
Make sure you have android sdk before you do this and adb abilities enabled. Just open up a command prompt then put in this command cd c:/android ask or whatever u named or where u put your ask then after/tools then you should put in adb install and put the location of where you put the apk like so"c:/users/account name/wherever you put the rom for a video tutorial go to youtube and type in how to sideload adb should be the first one if not search for the video made MobieTechVideos

I am running Andromeda 1.1 (Froyo 2.2 from Armani Cap) and the music player sucks balls compared to the one I had with Eclair JH7. Anyone got the apk for that player? I really liked the carousel view in landscape mode. Thanks.
Sure. Let me get it for you in a sec. Hold tight.
EDIT: Here you go - Musicplayer.apk
Thanks, man, much appreciated.
Just tried installing this and I get a message saying this is a system app and am I sure I want to replace it. I click yes, it starts to install then I get a failed to install message. Do I need to uninstall the stock player first? I can't believe how crappy the Froyo player is compared to the Eclair one.

It will always fail if you just try and install it. You have to use a file manager like root explorer and place it in system/app and it will work just fine. You can not overwrite a system app that easy most of the time.

Hmmm....I copied this apk and the MediaHub apk into the same folder (Downloads) on the device. MediaHub installed fine. I'll try your method, but how will it create an icon in TouchWiz by just putting it into that folder?
It will overwrite the previous version. If it doesn't work for you right away, do a reboot and you should be good.
I said yes to overwriting, but it still fails. I went and purchased root explorer, moved the apk to data/app, but I have no way to start the app because there's no icon in the app drawer for it. Rebooted several times. If I go into Settings>Application>Manage Applications and click on ALL I see Sound Player in the list with the familiar icon I remember, but all the options for it are grayed out.

refer to above quote...it's a system app so you need to copy it to /system/app not /data/app
Doh! <fp> Worked like a charm. Thanks! Don't know why the Froyo Music Player is so lame. The Eclair player has built-in EQ, disc view, 5.1 sim with wired headphones and a much better GUI. Go figure.

[Q] Can't reinstall missing apps

I didn't found awswer to this anywere so here it goes.
A couple of weeks ago i was playing cut the rope, then the phone frezze reboted itself and half of my apps had disapeared (market, gmapps, gmail, file expert, youtube, zdbox, launcher pro, etc) but others like google sky, titanium backup, some games, mixzing stayed there.
1st of all i can't understand the logic behind this but thats not why i am here but if someone explains it i would be greatful.
Then i restored some with titanium backup and the market app i had to install the apk with appinstaller because i couldn't with titanium.
Now my problem is when i try to install file expert and other that i didn't had a backup, because when i try to install them throught market i get an error saying that its not possible to install the app in the predefined directory or something like that. The error message is in Portuguese so i'm translating the best i can.
I'm also afraid that these apps are occupying space even though they don't appear anywhere on the phone.
So can anyone please explain what is going on and how i fix this?
My phone is rooted, obviously and i don't remember the name of the rom since its a vanilla rom very similar to the original one.
Thx in advance

thx

[Q] Music player (or maybe other apps) keeps reinstalling itself.

I don't like the stock music player app (see below) so the first thing I did after I gained root on my phone was remove the app with Titanium Backup. It was working fine until I've upgraded to EMUI 3.0. I'm still able to remove the app, and everything works fine, but when I reboot the phone, the stock music player keeps coming back haunting me. It's quite frustrating because the stock music app is interfering with other music players, and there is no othe

have you tried to set other music app has default in emui 3 settings?
but if you want to remove a system app here it is... (it's a common problem with emui 3 kernel)
-unlock bootloader
-flash hrt kernel
-root the phone and remove set_immutable.list
-remove any other system app with titanium backup
-reflash stock kernel if you want (set_immutable.list and system app previously removed never come back)

Hi!
Changing the default music app in the settings had no effect for me. I don't know why. Even though I changed the default app to be GPM, every time I pressed the pause button on the lock screen the huawei music player would start up...
In my opinion there should be no reason to have a setting for the default music player app. The default should be the last used. Having a default app would only work if I wanted to use only one audio player. But I like to listen to audiobooks as much as music, so I alternate between a music player and an audiobook player, and I expect to be able to control both of them. It just seems logical to be able to control the last one.
Aaaaanyway.... I was able to remove the Music player apk permanently thanks to your suggestion. I'm not sure why though. The set_immutable.list is removed permanently now, but it doesn't seem to had anything to do with not being able the music player. I might be wrong, but shouldn't the files listed in the set_immutable.list file should be only immutable? The music player apk wasn't listed, and the immutable flag wasn't set on the apk either.
Btw, I managed to remove the set_immutable.list file from recovery (CWM), there wasn't any need to flash a different kernel. But your idea helped me a lot, I would have never tought about the set_immutable file.
I was mistaken, the music player is back... It seems that this has nothing to do with immutable flags or whatever.

The immutable list is still present n the system. It will always install everything that is installed by default at every single boot unless you delete the list itself. You can find a guide in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/help/how-to-root-emui-3-0-t2975877

But the list isn't there. I just checked. Anyway, I'll try it tomorrow, but let's just agree on how ridiculous this behaviour from huawei. They should put their effort in creating an usable rom, not making people suffer who want their phone be more friendly...

As the linked thread states there are more ways to put back the files. If I recall correctly in EMUI 3.0 there is also one in the bootimage.
What I did was flashing the B608 bootloader, rooting, removing the list file, and then I was 100% rooted.
