thanx in advance ^_^ or any stable nic rom will do

its impossible to tell you the 'best' rom for SGS there is no best, its all down to what the user wants from the rom...
give me a list of things that you would like and i will try and suggest a 'good' rom for your needs.
there are loads of roms out there, ones for speed, ones for battery, ones for customization, the list is endless........

Rom Kitchen build your own.

Like JJEgan I think the kitchen of Doc is perfect. You can create the rom you want !
If you want a small rom, just don't check any apps !
Look at the thread in "developement" names something like "kitchen school" ;-)

well i had a look on it its seems intresting.. well could u tell me a rom which have some nic animation & which have good bettary life

they all have good battery life if you keep it as close to stock as possible... the more addons you choose the more battery will be consumed. but there are many ways to increase battery life. look in the general section for Yet another battery drain YABD

[Q] Best ROM

Hi guys...I'm Italian and my english is not perfect...excuse me! I have a Samsung Galaxy S and I want to mod it...I think that my phone is not fully exploited... I need a ROM that exploits it. My parameters of choice are stability, sensitivity and speed... What is the ROM that you suggest me? Thanks guys!
All new roms based on jpy are really fast and awesome. Just read the features of all the roms and choose one.
My favorite ; darky"s rom
The best rom is always someone else's rom. ..

You're right.
@OP
If you want a modular ROM where you can add pieces of components together, go for Doc's ROM.
If you want a great JPY ROM, go for Jim_Panse's ROM.
You can switch between ROMs as you like
Happy flashing & merry X-Mas!
I started of with the Darky ones, runs fast and smooth. Except for crappy GPS but thats not his fault, just samsung that ****ed somthing up.
Havent tried DOC's one though.

I think in terms of speed, all JPY ROMs are the same.
It's just about the customizing the ROM chef did
Not another best rom thread
We appreciate your willingness to start playing around with your android phone. However, to fully have the android experience, you will have to do what most of us do and that is flashing roms. Lots of them. Then you will know yourself which one you prefer.
BTW, this questions should be in the General section, not Development.
First you need to mention a few things more , like the firmware versions you are curently running.
Anyhow , Your first choice should be the official kies update that you may have in Italy at the moment. Maybe if you has in an eclair rom and you update to froyo is enough for your needs. Latest roms as said before are very good in terms of stability, sensitivity and speed.
If you need something beyond that , i would suggest Darkys rom ( no offence to the other guys ) which is easy to upgrade to and had a lot of goody's pre-installed
After that you should be able to fully understand the differences of every rom and make your choice.
Almost all guys here support their roms ( updates ) , they have detailed instructions , FAQ e.t.c. and you can also be helpful too , as a 4rth layer tester*
*
1rst layer = creator
2nd layer = mod creators that the rom include
3rd layer = Testers following the rom that know most of the common issues
4rht layer(us) = Testers that have fully read and understand the instructions and despite following them to the letter , they experience some kind of bug , so they report it
P.S. no actual layers exist , i just made them up to explain
IMO, i'd say last Darky's rom and Doc's.

[Q] Mods for Stock JPY

hi you all...
first of all i have to thanks all the devs that help people with their mods...
I have a few questions that maybe someone else can have them too...
- What is the difference (it terms of capcability to be modded) between stock JPY and Doc's or other cooker JPY?
- i tryed a few mods and some of them "kill" my phone soo i have to reflash the stock rom... most of them related to battery % (i think that could be related to the mod be designed for modded roms)
- what mods do you recommend to stock ROM... (i'm searching for extended power menu, and 4 locks... since i already have android stock lock and % at battery indicator)... i'm also searching for ginger battery indicator with %.
- should i change (and how to) to a modded ROM?
I do some research before make this post, but i think that could be a very good help to people who have the stock rom.
Thanks and Regards,
Carlos

Stock is as came from the factory cooked roms have been changed in one way or the other generally for better usage .

If a mod killed your phone you have done something wrong more often than not

I know-all that. But I ask for help so if you wanna help good, if you not, please don' t reply. It's all very simple for you, but I made this thread with the intention of merge all info on one post.
About the kill, I know I don't do anything wrong, simply the mod was probably designed for deodex ROM and original ROM is odex

[Q] Darky 9.5 vs Romkitchen

Hello
I am currently on Darkys 9.5 with the darkcore kernel 1.4. I am quite happy with it but i would really like to switch to a 2.3 rom. So V10 is not really finaly at the moment i had a look on other roms.
I read a lot about the Romkitchen and i wonder if a rom made by romkitchen is comparable to a darky rom?
I dont like to switch to romkitch if it isnt worth it. Have you made any expierience by comparing darkyroms vs. romkitchen?
How is the battery life in a romkitchen rom?
Any disadvantages with romktichen?
Thx a million
Hamti
romkitchen is amazing place.
there are no dis-advantages as you cook the rom yourself. each part of the rom is tailor made for what YOU want.
no 3rd party apps, no junk, no battery killers - unless you choose to have them.
you cant compare it to darkys roms, they are both uniquely different.
the battery life of any rom is good. its the things you include into the rom which drains battery..... so be wise when flashing,
choose a rom that suits you, dont always go for the rom that "will blow your socks off " or the rom that is "faster than a bugatti veyron"
Hey
Thx for your reply! Yeah i'm not looking for the fastest or best rom, i just really like to change things
i will give it a try!
thx hamti
Rom Kitchen very few bricks help posts .
darkys no comment .

Yes it will. Simply follow the link provided by sathkartha. There in the first post you can find links to guides that include everything.
CM7 and Miui are the fastest but battery might be a little bit worse (depends on the person, on my phone battery is basically the same as stock aprox 24-30 hrs). Miui is definitely the nicest looking out of all them though while CM7 is the fastest
Good luck
What you're asking for here is as good as "What is the best religion?". Everyone, as you can see has given you their personal opinion, but few solid grounds. In the end, you'll just have to start trying out different ROMs (if you really want to, that is) and decide for yourself, which ROM suits you the best in the end.
Among the Samsung based custom ROMs, they're all pretty much alike, with a few theme differences, but we have the UOT kitchen for that, so no biggie. What's important is you use a base you find stable, and a radio package (Modem) that gives you the best battery life (If you're in India, that would obviously be DDJV4 from the DDJV6 official Indian GB for SGS firmware). On the other hand, AOSP ROMs like CM7 and MIUI are far more robust and powerful, but at the cost of some battery life, and they're still "Work in Progress" with few bugs (which are getting ironed out... and FAST!). You'll notice the difference in a heartbeat. MIUI is simple the best THEMEable ROM available.
All in all, the decision rests with you and you alone. Choose wisely.
i guess i bricked my phone while installing the juwe rom :|
going for the stock gingerbread flash again !
For Asia firmware this is the best: pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=438146
i got my phone unbricked
now , i neeed a detailed , step by step procedure to install a rom
please suggest some rom with intruction
thank you in advance

[Q] which rom u think is the best one

in rom development page u can see many roms,
i wanna konw which one u think is best,
thank u!
It's a matter of personal preferences really ...
Only way to get a proper answer is to test/use each ROM for a few days up to a week at least.
It also depends a lot on what YOU are looking for and use the most in a smartphone ....
From MY subjective point of view ,Galnet MIUI is the "best" ROM.
If you can do with not so great battery life and few other bits this ROM is great , but others will contradict me I'm sure and will have good arguments as well ...
u have posted this in a wrong section..
If we are just talking about the number of users, Doc's Rom kitchen wins hands down.
But in terms of added function (which is sort of what custom roms are about), there are many other better roms.
On the cutting edge of development, you have CM7 and MIUI. Cyanogen Mod is closer to the vanilla Android experience, while MIUI produce a more iOS like interface. Both have a myriad of new functions that you won't find in any other roms. However, both suffer from battery drain problem, camera quality drop, no 720p recording, etc. It's the price you pay for being at the forefront of development.
If you prefer to play it safe, there are a whole load of custom roms that are based on stock roms. Juwe smart edition, simply honey, Darkyy, etc. It's difficult to judge which is better, so I suggest that you choose on the basis of theme.
I have experienced many roms, including ROM Kitchen, Stock, Darky's, Simple Honey, etc... and my opinion is that, for me, the best one now is Galnet's MIUI. But that depends on what do you want from it: Speed? Stability? Appearance? As for the battery related problems, I have yet to find one that gives me problems. obzcen is right:
"It's a matter of personal preferences really ..."

Have u try ( f1 galaxy 2 )
I think it is worth
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Been using Goatrip for the last 6-8 weeks now on 3.0 update 1 & it is by far the best RON I have used
In my opinion there only 2 options...
Darky 10.1 or F1 Galaxy S2 V6 with Galaxian kernel
jvq+galaxian+extraordinary work good for me
try [ROM][F1 Galaxy S2 V6][SP1][Look & Feel Of Galaxy S2]...
the best rom for me..
i am using an Dutch ROM with the Talon kernel , that us supporting custom boot animations , i made an few 4 the Talon kernel which i am gonna post them on XDA soon !
Darky has been out for a while and are now on version 10.2, so it feels stable. f1 if you want speed.
It's hard to say which is best rom for each invidual . The best way is that you try some of the those most popular roms. In my opinion the best rom at the moment is GalnetMIUI .
Hell yeah... The best way to find best rom - try some of them Test it about 1-2days and next and next. Because as many peoples as many opinions...
i like darkys rom but the battery drain make me far away to use it...
hope he can fix that.
anybody can cook a rom stable as darkys, fast, smooth and good battry life as F1 galax...
Tried all other roms... but still goes back to F1 Galaxy S2 V6 SP1 + Galaxian SP2
It's hard to say which ROM is the best because ideas is different and best way to find best ROM is try some of popular roms.
But I like amestris custom Roms and JVR stock ROM+semaphore kernel
Good luck
Sorry for bad English
In this moment i have Darky 9.5 with speedmod kernel, now is time to change the rom and i keep eyes on the development of JetPack and semaphore kernel.
Insanity
Hi,
I have tried all roms before (darky, goatrif, Juwe's, Doc...).
And without any doubt the fastest and best one is Insanity:
