I'm having trouble installing this...I'm using root manager, and placing the apk into the system/apps folder. When I click on it it says installation blocked. And the reason I'm installing, or trying to install nook color tools, is so that I can change keyboards. So I'm stuck in a maddening circle.
Anyone want to show me the light? I don't know why I'm having so many issues...rooting and installing other apks went flawlessly.

Mine is in data/app, not system. Maybe try putting it there....?
Did you try installing it from your SD, without putting it in the internal memory first?
Also, after putting it in data/app or system/app, you could try simply rebooting without installing via Package Installer, and see if it shows up in your app drawer.

That's the thread - should be in the first post.
Yes, it works on 1.0 too.
If you have problems installing other APK's. Find the "Allow Non-Market Apps" Checkbox in NookColor Tools (it's in the app drawer).
Uncheck the box, recheck the box. NC might need a reboot but it worked for me. I tried installing with Astro and Appinstaller and neither would let me until I did this little trick.
I just put the APK's in the Root of the SDcard btw.

Help!
I am in exact same boat as above. I rooted with 1.00 and cannot get nook color tools. I want to unlock permissions and be able to download third party apps. I tried to purchase root manager from market but would not let me purchase. It stated, my cc was invalid.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mike

Thanks. I was pulling my hair out to try to install non-market apps... Unchecking and checking it again worked.
(When I plug in my nook, I don't see a "system/apps" or "data/apps" folder to put apks.)
That worked.
Thank you so much for all of your help with that. I was so frustrated. Now I just have to get the other issues worked out. Searching the forum for those.
HELP!!! I'm going crazy! I've put the nookcolor tools 0.2apk on my sdcard, then using root explorer am i suppoused to copy, or move the apk from my sdcard to system/apps, or to data/apps? So far i've tried both & nothing, what am i doing wrong? I'm rooted with autonooter & the market works fine, i just need to get nookcolor tools. One more thing, when they say reboot, that means back out of root explorer, & manually hold down the power button, & then turn it back on right? quickboot does not work, so this is all i can think of =' (

copy it to system/apps. Rebooting means hold power button down till a prompt asking if you would like to power down the device comes up. Hit yes. Device is now off. Hold power button again till it starts up. Release power button. It's booting up again....hence the term rebooting.
I have rooted with the update.zip. installed android sdk and now trying to enable captivate app sideloading, but I cant' seem to locate busybox after i installed it. I used "Buysbox installer" and click in install and states buys box has been installed, but i can't locate it anywhere on my phone to start it up to continue with the enabling app sideloading. I am lost on what to do from this point, any help would be awesome. Thanks!
When I enabled sideloading I logged into to my phone through adb copied the system DB, used SQLite extension in firefox to switch the bit, and then pushed the DB back on the phone. Restart and done.
What method are you trying to use to enable sideloading apps? All busybox did for me was allow things like su, copy, etc in the shell through adb.

I was trying to follow these instructions.

How did you do this? Do you have step by step instructions on how you did what you did?
Thanks!
Thought you should be able to download busybox by itself from the market - or you could install Titanium Backup which will install it for you.
if busy box installer says its installed, then its installed. there is no 'app' for busybox. its in the system. that website is slightly misleading. i think they mean the busybox INSTALLER. open it and run the install/enable it. as already suggested, if you install titanium backup, it will check that busybox is installed and working properly

actually there is an APP icon for busybox that will show up in app drawer. If you want to make sure its installed just download it from the market...open the app and run the install...takes all of about 30-40 seconds.
I just ended up downloading root explorer and firefox SQLite manager and just copied the settings.db over to my sd card and changed the settings from 0 to one on the install none market apps, then copied it back the com.android.providers.settings and i am enabled now. awesome thanks!

Sorry I didn't get back to your post. Glad you got it to work. Good luck with the non-market apps.
I have a rooted samsung fascinate, with stock rom/kernal..
Anywho I was playin around with installing some apps and I wanted to install the free version of Printershare, but instead of getting it from the market I used an APK file to install it from my sd card. Well the file appears to have been corrupted, so I attempted to uninstall it through root explorer, as well as remove all traces of the program. When I went to reinstall the program from the APP market, I now get the error "Installation Failed.. Update Incompatible." I searched around to figure out what that meant and in the process I noticed that the com.dynamixsoftware.printershare package was still listed in my manage apps section, but I am not able to uninstall it from there. I searched for it in root explorer but like I said I deleted all traces of printershare before so i didnt find it there. If anybody can help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated!! THX!
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section I'm new to XDA
Try downloading Titanium Backup from the market. There is a free version and it should take care of your problem. If not, some others have recommended a program simply called Installer for Root.
Hi guys,
I am on RocketRom v22 with Abyss 3.7.
Today I wanted to launch SamsungApps for the first time. I agreed on the License Agreement and was forced to update Samsung Apps and so I did. But after the download was finished the app was just closed. If I try to start it again, it closes again.
What I already tried:
Clear Data in Settings > apps. --> doesnt work
Then, I uninstalled Samsung Apps with Tit.Backup and tried to install Samsungapps.apk provided by many sites, including XDA.
During installation I get the error "Application was not installed".
I hope you can help me.

Copy it to /system/app and reboot if you haven't already done that.

It should have been auto pulled by system. Check in app drawer. If not try restoring from Titanium Backup it will auto show in there.
BOOMED from my BOMBASTIC NOTE :-D
where did you get the latest apk from?
can't seem to find it... >_<
Hi Guys...
Sorry to sound dumb, but I am new to the android scene blah blah... Just flashed CM10 (4.1.1 JellyBean) on to my GT-N7000, as you probably guessed, Samsung Apps isn't there.
I have read above but cannot seem to copy the SamsungApps.apk into my system/apps folder... It says SamsungApps.apk cannot be moved (using ES File Explorer)
Any help? Thanks.
EDIT...
Please ignore me... I had to change some settings in ES to allow root access. Thanks.
Double EDIT...
It's still not working for me though... Any help would be great.
I know this post is old, but did anyone solve this problem? I have exactly the same issue. I have copied it to system/app but still no joy. Tried TB too. I copied it into system/app and after reboot it is still in that folder but it does not show as installed and when try and install just get "app not installed" anyone got the anwser??????
I tried installing the samsung apps apk into the /system/app folder and rebooted but I still get the Application not installed message...
Any suggestions would be appreciated
I used the automatic method to install root on my Fire HD 7. The issue is that SuperUser has not shown up even after multiple reboots. I've read that I could use ADB to install it manually but I have no idea what commands are needed to push an .APK. I've also ready that ES File Explorer could be used to install .APK's but whenever I click root settings it force closes then says unable to mount upon reopening.
I'm running 7.2.1 if that helps. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
NVM I've figured it out guys! Thanks!
