Basically I'm using the MIUI rom I like some things about it not all and since its the first rom I have flashed I was interested in looking at others. I'm also curious about peoples benchmark scores best I can get with quadrant is 2509 is this good/bad?

You can not say "this is the best". Everyone want to have something diffenrent. For some people the look is the most important thing, for others the smoothness and the Quadrant Score.
Quadrant Score say nothing about the quality i think... but you can get about 3500 easy with oc and the right ROM.
I guess I'm more after peoples opinions on their favorite rom since I'm new to flashing rom's. I would like to try a few out before settling on one. But I'm not sure which are worth trying out

Try CM9, at the moment it's extremely stable while still in beta and it allows you to experience ICS.
For me, MIUI is the best. For example MintBerry
i will look into both Amestris looks nice so far!

Hehe, this is so true indeed ;-)
Cyanogen is indeed a great experience, even Cyanogen Mod 7 which is stable but not yet ICS. Cyanogen is like MIUI an UFO in the roms, because both of them add incredible features to the rom. Other "standard" roms are less spectacular, but it is my opinion of course.
I liked the roms which themed my GS1 as GS2 (I don't remember the name) and it was so well done that my children believed I bought a GS2 :-D but they were a bit laggy
The rom SURFACE is a very good one, stable and fast. A good choice to check another rom than CM or MIUI.
GingerReal2 is great if you want to go back to the original GingerBread, but with all the benefits of the custom roms (speed, stability, root access, BLN, ...), so no special eye candy, but a very good rom to taste back the original Gingerbread
For Gingerbread I used to have Darky's with Semaphore Kernel. Excellent combination.
Now I test the OneCosmic ICS 4.0 ROM. Very happy for now considering it is a RC1 ROM yet
For me Cyanofortomorrow v1.2(came from cm7#176 kang) and mintberry miui! As kernel glitch v13, platypus neo 18 or fugumod.
I forgot what custom ROM I'm on right now but it gives me some problems so I'm gonna use Heimdall One-Click -Total Stock and then flash something but I want a really nice one this time. Any suggestions? Also, could you link me to the thread with instructions and everything. Thanks
All I can say is every ROM has its benefits. It all depends on what your looking for and how you use your phone. Your best option is to check the development section and do some reading and research to see witch one will suit your needs. There are plenty of excellent devs with great ROM's. I will however recommend anything by The Collective who has top notch devs themers and support, with a native I897 ROM an I9000 ROM and an ICS ROM.

ICS= Ice cream sandwich which is the latest Android flavor. By far their most polished and integrated firmware in my opinion. All of the roms running it are still beta but they are pretty stable already.
I for one vote for teamhacksungs ICS. The current version is build 16. Very stable, fast and pretty. I've never had great battery life but it is above average for me on this ROM. Oh, and the GPS actually works.
Try an ICS build, if you don't like it, roll back to one of the gingerbread builds, there are plenty to choose from.

Thebest ROM is the one that you find works well for you. No one can give you the 'best ROM'. Flash a few and decide for yourself.
Greetings!
My friend asked me if I could speed up his incredible S, and I told him that I could try and install a new rom on it.
However, I don´t know a thing about Incredible S roms. I am looking for a stable and fast rom, he is an android noob
so it has to have little to no bugs. Also ICS or JB would be good.
I don´t know if MIUI is available for this phone, but if so, is it fast and bug free? How about AOKP or CM9/10?
Which roms would you guys recommend, I´d like to try some non-sense
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium HD app
MIUI works great on this For AOKP I would try IceCold. CM9/CM10 are still full of bugs here but if you want you can have a look at them also. I would recommend CodeNameAndroid, as it has got the coolest tweaks
I'd recommend you to give Paranoid Android a try.
Except for some kernel related stuff, there are no major issues, and yes - it is responsive. And with some undervolting I get really good battery life out of it as well, even though I overclock.

"little to no bugs"
Well, CyanogenMod 7, MIUI or Sense-ROM's seems to be your options in that case.
Pretty much every AOSP/AOKP ROM with ICS/JB will have the same bugs since the current kernels that are used for them are hacked to work... so if he doesn't want any bugs he should stay away from ICS/JB ROM's that are AOSP/AOKP - for now at least, but if it doesn't matter that much if some stuff isn't working properly and so on: go for Paranoid Android or Codename android.

Miui gingerbread was based off CM7 so it didn't have many problems
Miui ICS is based off HTC's ICS ruu so there are not many problems either. Some problems from the chinese miui release were fixed by spongychicken. His rom is in the dev section, have a look
Codename android has my vote. It is a great JB ROM. however, it does have a few bugs.

I used to have stock Gingerbread on my SGS I9000. Then I switched to DarkyROM ICS, which was okay. After a while I came across the SlimRoms website, which was still developing Slim ICS at the time, so I flashed ICS, which was brilliant. Shortly after the Slim team started working on SlimBean, and after reaching a stable version I tried it for myself, a decision I am glad I made.
SlimBean is by far the lightest, fastest ROM I've used so far. Give it a try for yourself and you'll see how amazing, lag-free it is. I'm using version 3.1 with the Semaphore kernel version 2.6.2s.
Hi,
I've flashed many roms on my i9000 : Miui, cyanogen 7, Cyanogen 9, Jelly Bean, ICs..... but for me the best one is the JW8 SAUROM.
Stable, fast, GS3 Theme and a very good battery life !!
Since i am on this rom i don't want to flash another one !
Slim 3.1 with semaphore 2.6
If someone help me i definitely HIT THANKS....
Your question must be more specific, and I'll try to explain...
In my opininon the are only 2 developers team which should be considered, first CyanogeneMod which leads because of it's bigger number of devs (so more supported devices). 2nd is AOKP, which I personally prefer because it's more designale and more good looking, but also very stable. I've tested hardly both, but 5th build from AOKP has best battery life, so I'm never going back to CM, only for new tests, making new statistics etc.
Hope I helped, greetings

But not alll stock rom 2.3.x can be flash with semaphore.. and not all i9000 can be flash with the same s/rom. But still semaphore 2.7.4 is the best way to get cwm. If flashi v semaphore causing boot failure, try to flash with other s/rom and re-flash semaphore.

The idea of two developers was what I was thinking as well when I was making a decision either to stay on stock 2.3.6 or flash something new. CM9 is more "readable" for me in terms of numbering and Stable/Nightly/Experimental. Even tough I do not understand how come there is a stable version followed by nightly builds.
When watching some videos and screens of AOKP I felt it might be even better but I got confused in the numbering (which of the builds is the most stable as I need a working phone not a phone to be flashed twice a week).

C-Rom Mix V9 here - it's a near perfect ROM. Stable, everything is where it supposed to be. Very smooth operating. My last phone - XPERIA ARC S was destroyed (and its hardware is superior to that of i9000) - Galaxy - being slower by half is faster when speaking about this system operation. There are some hiccups with number recognition sometimes (like 1/10 phone calls and only till i pick up - so no showstopper for sure ). The camera is limited to just basic functions - but is working perfectly fine. The calendar is more basic than in ICS modded ROM for ARC S. The battery last for a day or less - but here i cannot say if the battery in my phone is just old or is this ROM (i got the phone used and the battery is 2,5 yo). And these are my only complaints - not much I have MUUUUUUUCH more complaints on every other stock/modded rom for Galaxy & ARC S
It's my daily ROM more than a week now.

Er...you may be in the wrong forum...
I have found the CM9 nightly to be the most stable for playing games. I've tried the CM10 and others but as soon as I launch a online game, the TP will generally freeze up.
I play a game called "Tanked" which is online and a great tank killing game against other players. Lots of fun...great graphics, and addicting.
If someone has a suggestion as to a more stable, yet fast rom for this type of gaming, please indicate which you use. I will try and load it up and give you a quick review of stability vs the cm9.
Thanks

Same here. My kids love playing games and I have problem with the T-pad crashing on CM10. I've tried every CM10 ROM available. Each has it's own unique advantanges, but hate seeing Tp constantly crash to mboot.
After rolling back to CM9 nightly, I am not longer having this problem. It's not as smooth as CM10, but kids are happy.
Thanks the Dev for trying to port JB. Hope they continue to get things fully straighten out.

Thanks for the answer, I flashed it on my touchpad, however I noticed that flash is really buggy on CM10, it just gives me some horizontal lines, and when I full screen it theres only like a 10% chance of it working, since most of the time its just a black screen or it just flickers over and over and freezes, sometimes its even crashed my touchpad. Would it be best to go to a CM9 rom, or is there some work-around for this problem?
