I just rooted my Nook Color, and I'm having a strange issue. When I long press on some menus, I will receive the pop up box but the text will be missing.
For example - I open File Manager and long press on a file. The icons appear, but the words are blank. Once I touch the item i want, THEN the text will appear briefly (ie. Copy, Paste)
It's not just on File Manger though - which I've uninstalled/reinstalled.
Any ideas?

This is a problem with the way that the B&N software is themed. The menus where this happens has text, it's just white on white making it in effect invisible. There's not a solution yet that I'm aware of, but in some apps you can hold your finger on the menu options which highlights them, making them legible.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply. I was about to start "unrooting" to see if i'd done something wrong. Other than that, this thing is great!

I noticed a strange problem.
Inside text editing application that do not warp lines (Orneta Notepad Mobile and any other notepad style application I tried) text selection (with stylus tap and drag) only works when lines a short and orizontal scroll bar is missing or disabled. When lines are longer and orizontal scroll bar appears text selection is no more possible.
Does anyother noticed this problem?
Any solution?
Selecting text works not so fine anymore.
When I hold the syles on the screen sometimes it works, but not oke.
Or when I hit with the styles on a word he selected that word.
With me other WM phones (HTC to) it was possible selecting, copy, paste in most places. It was very simple te select a pease of tekst.
Does HTC running a app that has a conflict with the WM selecting option?
I have searching registry if there is maybe a key to change.
I don't like the slecting way on the Diamond2.
I hope someone find out what the problem can be.

I found a partial solution: there is a way to make a list of applications that should be ignored by TouchFlo. Inside these applications scroll by tap and drag stop working but text selection does work.
Find the registry key HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings\TFLOIgnoreAPPs
For any application that you want TouchFlo ignore create a string value and assign to it the name of the application .exe file (important: the value seems to be case sensitive)
For example in my case for Orneta Notepad Mobile
HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings\TFLOIgnoreAPPs\IgnoreAppNP = "NOTEPAD.exe"
Thanks, it works.
I have now add strings with poutlook.exe, PIMConnectivity.exe, Notepad.exe and Explorer.exe (resco) .
In those apps it works now fine.
Since upgrading to Gingerbread I have been aware of the new text selection features, i.e. dragging the little pin to move the cursor. What I can't get right though is selecting text.
Previously I could double-tap and drag in order to highlight words, which made sense, but now whenever I double-tap anything, I get the "Cut" and "Copy" menu before I can even start to drag. The two separate pins don't ever appear that way.
The only way I can seem to make it work is by holding on a word, picking "Select word" and then dragging the two pins when they appear, which seems a little drawn out compared to before.
Anyone any clues? Have the gestures changed? Am I doing something wrong or is this just the way it works now? Wondering if someone with a Nexus S or other custom Gingerbread ROMs can also confirm.
I don't know in which apps you have tried this, but the way it works in the browser and gmail (checked right now) is that you:
1.Tap and hold to go into text-selection mode
2.Drag your finger over the text you want to copy
3.Adjust with arrows as you see fit
4.Click on the selected text to copy it
5.Profit

Ah ha, I see, that seems to work for reading emails and web pages. I was more meaning inside text-entry boxes like in the SMS app, Google Talk, etc.
My previous ROM (Perception) had what looked like a blue inverted golf tee to indicate cursor position when editing: if I clicked on it, it would open a context menu, one option of which allows one to select a region of text. (Double clicking on a word would also bring up the Swype misspelling menu, but on this ROM it brings up a menu to edit the single word that is selected. Not terribly helpful, but beside the immediate point.)
Now on CM7, I have a much less functional edit indicator that looks like half of a brown house. There's no context menu and it seems more difficult to move the bounds of a selection precisely. Any way to get the other one back, or is this a gingerbread change that I'm stuck with?
Check cm7 sticky. Maybe they would know.

My Note has developed an infuriating fault which only happens in notepad apps, which is: I touch the screen in an notepad file and the QWERTY keyboard appears. All good. But when I start to type, although the cursor moves (sometimes to the right, often down a line or two or three first and then to the right) no text appears on screen. However, when I then exit the QWERTY keyboard, the text miraculously appears. This has only started recently and I'm very keen to get to the bottom of it. My notepad of choice is "Note Everything", but I've now duplicated the problem in two other notepad apps. Can anyone please offer any suggestions as to what might be going on here? Many thanks.
Sorry, I can't figure it out...
I can do it in web pages fine, but say, if I'm writing a text message and want to select the text I've written to copy it, I can't make the highlighting thingies appear
Sometimes it's long press, sometimes it's double tap and sometimes it doesn't work at all because only that damn magnification glass comes up.
In a text message, you have to double-tap to select text. Not sure why, but yeah lol..
speaking of this I'm also having trouble dragging the text selector around. it tends to fly to random places.

Root + Navbar arrows, I can't live without them
Why do you want to root your device? SwiftKey with enabled navigation arrows it is... But yeah, selecting a text on this phone is a pain in the a*s
I like the stock keyboard more than SwiftKey.
