hey dj ill give those a go tonight when I get home. Be about 9 or so hours from now. Also is there a specific way the image needs to be labeled for the loader to recognize? Also how about working with clockwork to get it to work for the7? Or do you need a machine for that?

Someone have the latest version of fastboot for windows? I booted the device in fastboot mode and the drivers installed, but neither adb or my version of fastboot detect it.
thats not a promising sign. Im gonna give it a go when i get home. Has anybody had success installing it?
Sent from my Dell Streak 7
Home screen seems to be opening much faster but Quadrant score is still the same at 1955.
Maybe it's just a placebo effect. Seemed to boot faster as well.
I'm using the fastboot from the latest SDK and have zero issues with it.
Disregard. Is it 4 o'clock yet

lol still waiting on opins, i dont expect quadrant to change a huge amount, until we get some kernel magic going
Im almost done for the day. Gotta install fastboot then ill flash it. Hope i dont run into any problems with fastboot as others have mentioned.

It was my fault, I wasn't using the latest version from the sdk, it detected and worked fine with the latest one. Checking out the enhancements now.

Pffft...skip right to HoneyComb! If Nookies can port it over with the SDK, we shouldn't have any trouble once source is released!!

yep thats right folks, i am proud to announce my first beta of android 3.1 aka honeycomb for the streak7
Dont ask how ive managed it because its far to complicated to explain, the kernel alone is a right bodge job and just barely working - courtesy of a mate of mine for that one
ok now for the techy part
Based on Android 3.2 - 3.2 google apps working
everything works and seems stable
performance is INSANE
NO OVERCLOCK ability as yet.
fully rooted and root adb
rebased this 3.2 off of parts of a transformer rom,
usb mounting works automaticly for the INTERNAL tablet storage only, sd card you'll have to plug into pc manually or copy files to from the file manager on tablet.
internal storage is still accessable to android while mounted over usb which is a nice bonus too
screenshots work using the internal screenshot ability.... goto settings > display to enable it then long press the recent apps icon to take screenshot
What Works
Everything that i know of
What Doesn Work/Known Issues
Some reported lockups requiring reset but ive not seen personally
Video Chat works in gtalk but sound is one way, the other person can hear you but you cant hear them, havent worked out why yet
ok now thats out the way we come to the complicated part .... installing it
now this build cant just be flashed through clockwork recovery as it needs to update some critical parts of the device including the primary and secondary bootloaders. so if you try flashing this i suggest making sure streak is FULLY charged and if using a laptop make sure it is connected to the mains power also for safety reasons.
also be aware that you CANNOT just use a pkg to downgrade to 2.2.2 you have to use the nvflash tutorial found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018809&highlight=nvflash to go back to the 2.2.2 bootloaders and then you can place the latest update.pkg on your external sd card named as update.pkg and flash it using recovery to get back to 2.2
the software we use to do this is called NVFlash and involves booting the streak7 into whats called APX mode. those of you who have read the streak5 forums can think of nvflash as being the same sort of thing as QDLTool for Streak5.
Install Instructions:
1. Download the streakdroid zip from below, this contains all the files and drivers required to flash your device to honeycomb
2. Extract the zip to a folder on your pc - I recommend c:\flash and will use that path in this example
3. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
4. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
5. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
6. Turn off your 7 and unplug the usb cable from it, then hold BOTH volume keys down and connect the usb cable, if done correctly your pc should detect the apx device. choose to update the driver, choose the second option then let me choose from a list, choose have disk then navigate to c:\flash\usbpcdriver and choose the only one it shows (Nvidia boot recovery driver for mobile devices)
7. Double click the Download.bat file in the c:\flash directory and wait a while it will take some time depending on the speed of your pc and usb ports.
8. Once the box disappears hold down power on your 7 untill dell logo appears (can take a little while) then wait for a few mins for some honeycomb tasting goodness.

It's running pretty well I must say There is a power issue though. When the streak is not plugged in and goes to sleep it wont wake(you have to pin reset) or it turns off completely. When it's plugged in this doesnt happen. Probably a voltage issue. Also after a few reboots my launcher would FC on me once right after it boots up. It didnt happen at first but now it FC's once every time it boots
Waiting for some golden honeycomb goodness.
Thank you for all your hard work DJ Steve!

so....... yeah. I've been working on this since MoDaCo dropped the Galaxy Nexus rom dump a few days ago. so far...... the phone vibrates when I hit the power button. It showed a boot screen once, and nothing more..... I do not plan on releasing this rom, well, ever. Unless I can get it to boot fully. If/when that happens, I'll post it up if it does, it'll be full of bugs that I probably won't know how to fix, so, sorry
If anyone else wants to try porting and gets it done before me, more power to ya if not, please pray that I at least get to the lockscreen xP

i think it would more easy porting sdk than the dump porting as system dump is already coded for a device with completly different hardware..

Bro...i was able to use below to extract Update.App using a Perl Script that I found here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/311344-repacking-updataapp-was-new-version-of-split-updatapl/
I installed Perl from here : http://www.perl.org/get.html#win32
the command : perl split_updata.pl update.app extracts the files recovery.img and system.img along with other files that I have no clue about. However this does throw lots of CRC errors....
I am not a Perl script expert maybe you can look further into that

I thought of that too. But since the DInc is a 'QSD' (1000Mhz Qualcomm Snapdragon) and the Desire HD and the Desire S are 'MSM' (Mobile Station) We can't use their ports to help us :/
Being that the DInc is a qsd8k (8650 to be exact) we'll need to keep an eye out for ports with the same processor.. Oh man I wish the old Desire could get a port of this, lol. We'd have no problem at all..

Well, we're at a standpoint of figuring out which files need to be added/edited from the One_v ramdisk so we can make a working kernel.

can you get a logcat or pm me a ROM link? I'd like to look. No guarantees of success. Sadly the sense devs that could figure it out I think have left the incredible.
Also a working ramdisk still doesn't mean the kernel is good. The kernel may need some changes.

I'd like to try tonight if I can. I'm hoping that an HWA enabled AOSP ICS kernel works with it.
I'm uploading now. Been busy all day.
I think the only way that an HWA enabled AOSP ICS kernel will work is if we figure out which parts of the ramdisk we'll need to add to it.
I have the Ramdisk extracted and uploaded on the OP if you need it.
Edit: Upload at 38% - I have a terrible connection speed for upload bandwith, which is at 49Kb/s..
Ahh! Excited..

I'm actually stabbing in the dark as much as you. Never messed much with roms. I'm more of a troubleshooter rather than a rom/kernel chef. I find tweaks and adapt for my kernels. But I noticed there's no init.inc.rc in that ramdisk. Other than that my mind's dead so I'll have to look tomorrow/this weekend.
I apologize for the delay in posting the port link. You'll have to forgive my internet. But, I assure you that the download is as fast as I can get it with my own server that I use.
EDIT: Port is on the next page --->
Just to make sure that everyone is on the same page - This port is NOT a working port.
It will flash to the DInc and it will install properly but it does not boot. And it is obvious why, lol, because we are still missing the piece to the puzzle to make a working kernel.
I hope that this will give you what you need to get this project I started the thrust in the right direction.
As for my method thus far, I am using the zImage from and AOSP ICS port with Ramdisk parts from the One_V.
Post Script - Today is my third year anniversary being apart of XDA. And I can only hope many more years to come.

Hello!
I've spend some days to compile JB for TPT ROW 32Gb. And there are the following results:
Works:
--Display. Interface is _very_ smooth
--Pen
--Automatic brightness
--External SD
--USB host
--Bluetooth
--WiFi (Partially: Signal strength indicator broken. Disable avoiding poor networks in advanced menu)
--GPS

Doesn't work:
--Camera
--3G
--Sound
I also had to repack boot image to include configuration changes (init* files).
See attached logcat.
next step I will try to add proprietary source files for Wifi and camera and compile JB again.

I see Lenovo finally released the ICS source code. Maybe this will help you get some other stuff working.
Also, how were you able to flash your build? Have you not upgraded to OTA3? I'm assuming you still have CWR working.
Thanks again.

Lenovo released ICS open source code but they forgot to release new kernel sources. This prevents me from building bcmdhd driver instead of bcm4329. It looks like JB is oriented for NL80211 wireless interface and not WEXT.
this isnt for the K1 is it
It's for tpt only
When can we see this in a flashable version? Not to sound pushy, I know we have all see the development slow down.
Are there any other tricks we need to get this up and running? I flashed partition 7 and 8 using NVflash but my tablet is stuck in a boot loop at "lenovo"
EDIT: Is this incompatible with CWM recovery?
What is TPT
Not to sound stupid but what is TPT? I have a K1 as well and am wondering if this will work?
TPT= ThinkPad Tablet

yes I also tried to get more info but for now no response. At last they released external folder of their custom build, which also contains alsa-audio, as I seen in cm9 device tree, it should fix audio with ease(maybe after patch as sources again changed in JB).
It looks like JB is oriented for NL80211 wireless interface and not WEXT.

but WEXT is there isn't it?
Anyway, congrats on working wifi.
Has anyone else got this up and running? I tried uninstalling CWM and reflashing part 7 and 8 but still no luck.

Some of existing software probably blocks normal startup. It is always advised to clean dalvik-cache and user data (backup first). It's up to you.
Right after Lenovo logo you should see 'Android: Optimizing applications' or something similar.
I have put this project on hold for now. I flashed latest Austrian ICS build to my device and continue using it as my Kindle reader on my travels. IF somone manages to fix the two issues with kernel, send me a message and I'll continue working with the repository. But for now I'm not thinking nor touching the subject before Easter. Thank you for participating for now
I've started porting Ubuntu-touch dev-preview to the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (3g). If you do not understand it already, you flash this at your own risk. There is now also a Ubuntu-touch specific device page here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices/p6800. I'll try to keep this thread and the Ubuntu devices page as close to each other as possible.
Big thanks to Daniel_hk for helping with boot.img Now It can be booted, but the screen is still black
Also, without working wifi and display, the preview is basically unusable... Next steps should be these:
1. Get wifi drivers working.
2. Get display drivers working.

What works
Ubuntu-touch dev-preview is flashable.
It boots!
Known Issues
Kernel is based to the CyanogenMod/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4210, but it is a mess. So forked it, took code here and there (mostly from locerra's JB build).
Kernel is based 3.0.15 and no newer one available (yet).
Most of the drivers in kernel had to be turned off, because build was not succeeding...
bluetooth: Doesn't work
audio: Dock audio doesn't work.
hwcomposer: HDMI dongle doesn't work.
wifi: Doesn't work.
camera: Doesn't work.
.. and lot of kernel level bugs for sure.
Displaydrivers are not working (yet).
Release notes
Version 0.2 (13.03.2013) - Now it boots, see release notes
Version 0.1 (07.03.2013) - Intial release, nothing works

BIG THANKS to daniel_hk for solving the boot.img problem for me.

I cannot test it for anything else. The kernel sources are from CM10.1 that was in use from locerra, so in theory it should work with i815 and with p6810 as well. But I cannot give you any guarantees...
And also before I get this build to even start with my device, I do not think that sharing image would help anyone. But if you are a developer, I would like to talk with you on issues that I might have missed or done wrong. So contact me

any update?

Not much. The generated image is missing /data/ubuntu completely and that is the reason why the image does not boot. I got also flu and fewer, so I have had not that much time after the weekend to look on the issues on that.
I'm also waiting if I get any answers from Ubuntu touch emailing list regarding the problem and where to look for answers, but my quess is that it has something to do with the devices fstab file...
Good news everyone!
Just got a very good answer the problem I had with the /data/ubuntu-folder missing from the image. There was no image provided for the actual Ubuntu at all by the build-process...
When I get home from work, I'll try to find time to look into the build process if I can include the actual Ubuntu image to the ready made image and then release it after I get my device to boot. But it seems that I got the right nudge forward for this now :highfive:
Hmpf, still not booting. Now the /data/ubuntu logs are unmodified, which would point towards kernel or fstab-issue (ie. /data/ubuntu is never used...).

Doh... still not working... Any ideas anyone?
Ok, new version build from different repositories (thx, danile_hk for tip).
I'll test the new image this evening when I get back to home, and I have my fingers crossed that I can get the device to boot up and even display something useful. After that I can start looking for ubuntu developemnt
New version did not work, but then Daniel_hk gave me working boot.img. So now I need to find out what the heck is wrong with my repository and fix it so that I can get working boot.img from start and also the device configuration has issues. Both repositories are currently out of sync I'm afraid

It seems that I hit the wall (again) with the mentioned big issues.
For now, I keep some sabbatical from Ubuntu Touch things (ie. I flashed ICS Austria to my device) and use it as my Kindle reader again.
If by miracle I get more info regarding how to get the Kernel working with Ubuntu Touch, then by allmeans I continue working with this project. So far it just seems that making a working image, is out of my hands currently.
At least you had a go. Thanks for your efforts, and hope you might have another crack at it later on.
I'm feeling a little bit that way right now too, and put my ICS kernel on the back burner. I think I'm trying to multitask a little too much at times....
Yep, a break is what you need, maybe some clarity will come after you've had a chance to recharge.

Not much, I have had no interest to spend time with this topic because I have been very busy IRL. After I get my new house renovated fully and get my job tasks done, I wont be spending much time with this project. Feel free to use any sources provided in this thread to further advance the subject.
But this wont go forward that much, if the GT-P6800 wont get official CM10.1 update...
It works?
