Dont buy it unless you want dirt to scratch your phone constantly. Check Amazon for TPU/Rubber/Silicone cases which are way better.

Its not bad per se but its not the best. There really aren't a lot of hard case options out there to be honest. I have the platinum for mine but since putting Ghost Armor on my phone I've not felt the need. My wife still has her platinum case on and she seems to like it or at the least not mind it.

Do not put that case on ur phone. I had to exchange my phone cuz that case mangled it. The best kind of case to get for this phone is a silicone one. I use the amzer one an love it

How did it mangle your phone? I had it on my phone for a few weeks with no damage and its been on my wife's phone for almost a month, half of which her phone has also had ghost armor on which makes the case a very tight fit and it hasn't even nicked the ghost armor. I just checked.

Sorry! Won't happen again.
It is that bad. Order a case on Amazon. I bought the simple Amzer silicon gel and I love it. Its like six bucks, fits perfect, buttons push really easy and it doesn't seem to attract much lint. They also have a TPU case and some other options. The one at best buy is terrible. Its a little loose, feels slippery in the hand and scratched the back on the phone.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The Best buy case and the amzer are both junk but they are your only choices.
the best buy case is available on ebay for 6.95 shipped. The one from best buy is a generic. I bought it and it's loose and build quality is garbage. I took a eye glass cleaning cloth and stuck it between the back of the phone and the case, and when I snapped it shut, it's much more solid. No more creaking.

It scratched the **** out of my battery cover an put alot of dot scuffs an nicks all over the bezel. Im sure using the case with ghost armor or a zagg would prevent it from hurting the phone but if u dont use anything like that with that case it will mess it up

I bought the Platinum Case when getting my Nexus-S at Best Buy Mobile yesterday, hate to drop it on first week, and have a damaged nexy. After having it for a day, I was like man, this phone feels very crappy, quality wise, like loose and shaky.
So for the hell of it I took the case off. WOW !!! Very nice phone was hiding under all that plastics, the naked Nexus-S feels very solid and well put together. It was the case that made it feel ****ty.
I still have her in the case while working, will just take it off at night when at home. But would like an Otterbox "Impact" series, slim and tight rubber case. It's these 2 pc connected type cases that sound and feel loose and crappy.
I think gel cases are better for such phones.

Yeap I got it.
+1 for gel or silicone case. i have a black silicone zenus case on my vibrant and absolutely love it (and i've dropped my vibrant twice since owning it). I made the mistake of buying different cases (leather, rubberized crystal, etc) and never end up taking the zenus one off. and anything outside of a gel skin adds unflattering weight and thickness to these very sleek, thin phones. i emailed a zenus seller today to see if they were aware of any nexus s cases on the horizon.
I sent an email to Case-Mate to see if they'll be making a case for the NS. Hopefully I get a response soon.
Im extremely picky with cases
highly recommend hybrid tpu case is great but not out for ns yet

Well, I hope Best Buy gets some more cases since I just found out that I have a $20 rewards certificate issued the day before the Nexus S came out.

This is a great case. I have one of the hybrids, a plain TPU, and the TMo rubber case. I switch between them, but the hybrid is the best all-arounder.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I hate cases. To me, putting a case on a phone like this is like bringing home a beautiful, sexy woman and then putting a fat girl suit on her.
I just returned mine as well. That case was not worth anything near 35 dollars. I'm using my hacked up nexus one sleeve now and it works great.

I prefer it too, but theres those times where you get bumped on the streets walking while checking your phone (email, text, web) and it causes you to drop your phone.
I also see a lot of people referring to a "platinum case" from best buy... but im looking it over and unsure which one they are talking about bc both use the word platinum.
I like this one alot if only it wasnt purple.

If you carefully apply 4-5 thin coats of PlastiDip you can very easily make your own soft touch battery cover. I'll be posting photos later in another thread.

Hi guys I have been looking a case for my HTC HD2 for awhile and on my other thread you guys suggested I get the Otterbox case for it! Which looks fantastic, but as I was researching about it I looked some reviews and a lot of people said that it was a bad case because the back plastic part brakes off when they try to take the case off.... in my experience i found that the otterbox COMMUTER case was a bad design because over time as you take off the plastic backing that goes over the silicone case, cracks begin to appear, and the cracks eventually cause the plastic backing to shatter upon removal.
the otterbox DEFENDER case on the other hand is very solidly built and provides GREAT protection, i wish i had just gotten the defender case to begin with as it offers much greater protection and i got for 30bucks off of amazon compared to the 55 from the otterbox website
i've been using defender for 7 months. once, a very, very, very tiny fragment broke off from the case, i don't know form which part.
over all, i've abused my phone a lot and the case really can stand it. imo, it's really worth it. every time i read "my screen broke", i always wonder: why this poor guy never use defender in the first place?

I've been using the defender for months and it's still in excellent condition. Clip hasn't broken and feels VERY solid. I can't imagine how someone would break that. I even use it as a stand when I'm on flights.
As for the plastic, I regularly take the case off completely when I swap batteries after long video viewings or after using the HD2 as an MP3 player when I run. No plastic has broken off from there either.
I'd have to wonder what someone was doing with it in order to break such a durable case.
+1 ^^ apallohadas
ive been using defender series for over 6months and taking it of sometimes many times a day, not a scratch on it even though it has saved my hd2 twice.
i take it of by turning up and bottom of shield in different directions and it comes of very easily.
screen cover has some scratches but nothing else.
getting new one if something too horrible happens to this one best accessory for hd2 definitely.
edit: actually 8months

Same for me, I have COMMUTER case from five month ago and the hard plastic begun to cracked, now I lost the lower part of the hard case.
Seems that otterbox is not a wise choice if it breaks this easily then. How about Pdair/Monaco Aluminium Case - anyone has experience with it?

Lol, did you read the 5 posts right before your's?
Well then I am not sure if I should get the Defender Case or just a cheap plastic backing with a screen protector with it
what do you guys think?
I think that the OtterBox does NOT break easily. The Commuter had issues that OtterBox addressed, including sending some replacement parts (from what I've read).
If you want to trust one of the best cellphones out there, with a 50 cent piece of cheap silicone gel, then go for it. I'll stick with something way more durable since this is probably the best phone I've owned thus far.
I had been so disgusted that I was thinking of starting my own thread till I came across this one.
The otterbox commuter looks great as a case but that's where it ends. Outside of looks, the case is utter junk. If you never take it off or drop your phone then you're fine but removal and/or drops will result in cracks and ultimately due to design, useless bits of broken plastic.
I had mine for a week before it started cracking and two weeks later, it was in bits. I'd also like to add that it bulls up the phone more than is necessary in my opinion.
I've got the invisible shield on and am looking for a rubber case to go over that. My advice is to avoid hard plastic for cases and go with with metal or rubber/silicon.
Sent from my HTC HD2 via XDA app
Argh! the replies are somewhat confusing with people having broken parts in the case while some are praising it. I'm really tempted to get one but I'm afraid to be disappointed if the case starts to break aftewards. Still I'm undecided between the defender case or the pdair aluminium case.
The defender appears to be quite sturdy but bulky. I'm not familiar with the pdair one.
There are two different sizes of cases for the HD2. I have the T-Mobile US versions of the phone and the Commuter case. I have had both since they each came out. My commuter case has no cracks. I have removed it several times and see no evidence of cracks. However, I am very careful and try not to flex it too much when removing it. I also carry it in a belt holster originally meant for a G1 and not in my pocket. This extra protection may make a difference.
People have had issues with the otterbox commuter case, but I've never heard of anyone having a problem with the otterbox defender case. I've had the defender case for a couple months and I think it's the best case I've ever owned for a phone. It does add some bulk, but I will protect it well and has a nice holder with a beltclip that doubles as a stand. The case can clip in to it face forward of backward, and it holds it well and makes it easily accessible when you need it. Probably not the best case if you want to keep the phone in your pocket, but it's great with the beltclip.

I have the nillkin in black and the rearth in white. They are both super slim and nice l cause they add grip so I can do a lot with one hand now. I'd recommend both to anyone. And the nillkin I bought on eBay for 7 bucks with shipping included and the rearth was 10 on Amazon, although this was 3 weeks ago so they might have went up in price by now

I have the translucent, frost colored one, looks good on my white N7000.. They are a pain to take off, usb cable does not fit in the port properly and pops out easily. It's also disposable, I imagine after 6 months it will look pretty ratty. That all said, I like it, it's very thin. I bought 3 for $6 shipped. So I'm set for a while.
There's no thinner case than no case at all. The back is replaceable for less than what you pay for a case if it gets scratched or cracked.
With a thin case, you're not getting much shock protection against a drop anyway, so the only thing that worries me is the finish around the edge trim wearing off, so I use a bumper.

I bought this case and got it within a week from china. Simply amazing is the only way to describe it. It fits perfectly on the phone, it leave the "naked" feel of no case yet still offers some protection. Sure if you drop it the phone will still get damaged but for me I don't have to worry about throwing it down on my desk and scratching the phone up. I loved it so much I bought another one... My two complaints are 1. the usb port cutout of a tad too small and some wires don't fit all the way so they pop out. 2. It's nearly impossible to get this thing off the phone once it's on because it's so thin I feel like I'll break it trying.
The only bad thing about that case is that the sides are not really protected. Other than that, it's not a bad case at all.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I could care less about the back cover since they're like $10 to replace, it's the plastic chrome sides that need protecting.
Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Any other suggestion of worldwide retailers? Ebay?

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

do you have any link or photos of yours?
Thanks!

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com

Best case I have found for this phone.
It's slim, light and doesn't add bulk to the phone. Plus it's not made from silicone, so it actually comes out of the holster with very little effort.
Definitely worth the money.
Mind sharing pics of it? I recently bought a Verizon kickstand case but it's a weird texture that feels uncomfortable. I think this is the same exact case but cheaper and better texture.

Here you go..
It's a very comfortable texture, in my opinion. I like this one a lot more than the silicon one I got first.
All around it's just a much better design.
This one is a 2 layer, adds a bit more protection imo. I've been using it for some time. At first it is snug in the holster, but after using it a bit it slides in and out easily, without any worrying of it falling out on accident. It WAS only $7 but guess it's since gone up in price. I use one of their cases for my Nexus 7 also, its held up for a long time now!

I think that is the one that Verizon sells. The Verizon one does not protect the bottom edge of the phone very well. How about this one?

I like how a kickstand can double as a way to easy hold the phone with one hand. You can use your fingers to secure it. anyone else do this? I have the verizon version of this but don't use it because I don't like the texture. How is the texture on this one?

Yeah, the kickstand is very useful on this.. I like the texture.. not super tacky, but not completely smooth either. very comfortable.

That's what I had on the phone before. I hate that thing. If anyone wants it, pay me for the shipping and you can have it.
I find it too difficult to remove the phone from the holster. It takes both hands and most times I have to remove the holster from my belt. Not ideal.
Its also way more bulky than the new one.

Sure it's more bulky - it actually adds some protection to the phone Not sure something so thin is going to guard it from much more than a scratch. Where as a plastic / rubber 2 piece will actually provide some form of coverage / give in a drop scenario.
It was more difficult to remove, at first, sure. But if you use it for a few days and slide it in and out, it loosens up ... yet still holds it plenty firm to be active and not be concerned of it slipping out. Just my $.02 cheers!

I'm pretty careful with my phones.. so the extra protection isn't a huge concern.
I only used the other case from the day I got the phone until I got this one, so only about a month and a half and it never got easier to take out, if anything it got more difficult. I don't need a holster that I have to remove from my belt and use both hands to remove the phone from it.
I need one that I can remove the phone one handed. I like to be able to have my phone out so I can answer it before it stops ringing. Great that you like your's I didn't like it.
So, again, if anyone wants this case, I'll be happy to give it to you for the cost of shipping.
Your offer.

Hey guy, I'll gladly take your offer.
Trident really disappointed me that they aren't making a Kraken AMS for the M8, and i've been hardpressed for a Kickstand, 2-layer protection style case with belt holster. I have a Kraken case on my HTC Ville.
Anyhow mind shooting me a PM about the I-Blason?
PS, if you've got any spare Screen Protectors, I'm also interested.
