i am using tmobile htc g1 unlocked,
it is not rooted and no modding has been done!!
it has andoird firmware of 1.00
i want to update it to 2.2 but there is no official update for it !
i would appreciate it if any one of you can give the links to the steps i should follw to install the latest custom rom for g1 ?
aLSO I WANT TO KEEP MY CELL UNLOCKED EVEN AFTER UPDATING IT WITH ANY CUSTOM ROM !!!

I got my G1 on monday and mine is now rooted and has froyo.
I followed this guide and found it to be excellent:

Once your phone is unlocked it will stay unlocked forever.

thnx a lot brother for helping me. But only 1 query ! U said that 1ce unlockd my g1 wil b unlockd , means if i install the froyo rom ,my device stil wil be unlockd rite?

Yeah. Once you root the phone you'll keep root as long as you flash a ROM that keeps the root (such as Cyanogen). If you flash a stock ROM you may lose root access

And why exactly dont u want to downgrade ? its a one time thing and then ur on ur way to locked bootloader + rooted roms
for that u need a fastboot na?? but modaco hasnt released any version for frf91..

can u pla give me the link to any assured method for to downgrade and root the frf91.. if i downgrade and thn update to CM6 then do i hv to update the radio also?? coz i dont want to update the radio coz i heard that a small mistake in updating radio leads to bricking the device... coz im newbie to all of this... i just bought the nexus one a month ago...
Have you read the sticky on the forum? If not do it. I don't think anyone can come up with anything simpler than that.

hey folks, i bought a galaxy s i9000 from some guy off of ebay. the phone is rooted and has some custom rom installed in it. i have to send the phone back to samsung for some repairs and i was wondering if anyone cud help me with restoring my phone back to the stock firmware and remove root.

Well the phone is from Europe i assume ?? if so i would just go for 2.2 froyo (JPY) or 2.1 Eclair (JPU) as upgrades have been officially released, and they wont think anything of it if you have one of them... where as a custom ROM would raise some eyebrows lol.

dude!!
i did hard SPL(1.40 oilnex)already...
i flashed the energy rom 2 months back and then i again flashed it back to an official WWE rom....
but just 2 weeks b4 i tried to flash nphaibk's [ROM|WWE] 2core minimized ROMs 6.1 & 6.5 & 6.5.x - Overclock to 672 MHz (30 Mar 2011)but not the latest one...
i did MTTY once..
then i tried to flash the rom frm my int storage...
but during the update i got an error(UPDATE ERROR...UPDATE TERMINATED)...
so now my phone(HTC DIAM100) wont bOOOOOt...
plssssssssss help

Hey!
His case is completely different....he successfuly updated the rom!but i couldn't even update ma rom....
The question is whether you are able to get into the bootloader mode.
The posting referred to explains how to get into there.
If you mean your phone does not turn on at all then that's another story.

again i tried to upgrade to a custom rom...
but the thing is i did MTTY before copying the rom to ma int storage.
now ma phone boots..
but not any further from the Touch Diamond plash screen.
HELP
ican get into boot loader and other thongs....

Is all depends at you, there is a lot of threads how to root your phone install rom and what you should have and know for it...no one can decide about it, only you
ofc 2.1 enclair is damn featureless and ugly interface.

if follow guide properly u wont have much problem in rooting,except if u read jus few words from a particular thread and go for it

as i just got it, i am a complete noob at it !
i have flashed atrix, thrill, n900, hd2 , etc so i am not a noob at flashing !
i dont want to s-off my device and want to install all the custom roms without doing it
someone pls guide me !

Go to the HTC website and find the latest ICS RUU for AT&T and run it. Unlock your bootloader. Flash a custom recovery (I prefer the WCX one). Then install whichever kernel + ROM. You say you aren't a noob at flashing and such, so I assume you can do that without much hand-holding? If you need more info then follow the guide in my link but only do the steps I just told you above.

I wouldn't even attempt it without knowing the full ins and outs of what your doing. I would read, read, reread all the issues others have had. Then learn what not to do by those people so you don't end up with a brick. After you have read, read, and reread, and understand then you can attempt it. That's what I done and have never had any issue on this phone flashing anything. Please don't jump the gun and try to do this without reading!

the device is already running ics 4.0.3 with sense 3.6 !
it was updated via the ruu from htc website !
so here's what i will do now !
1) unlock bootloader from htc-dev
2) flash wcx recovery
3) flash kernel+custom rom !
am i missing anything ?
and no need for s-off right ?

That's how I did it...but without posting questions...I'm no expert but I read, searched and reread when migrating from icrap...didn't want to ask questions which have already been answered in other posts...that is what irritates devs...I don't think people mind questions...but at least do your homework first..

Night I recommend looking into the kernel flasher GUI mentioned in the superguide... It's how I flash kernels since I don't do hardware mods...

can i flash faux dual core kernel with at&t stock ics firmware, i heard the kernel is very power efficient !
also i saw some roms have written ""s-off only"" so as my device is s-on i can't install them right !!
i know they are too many questions , but i just need to be very sure and safe before doing anything !

You can flash faux123's if you would like. I use the kernel myself and can say that it's the quickest, most stable, and most battery friendly kernel I've used so far. You could flash those S-off ROM's as well, you would just need to extract the boot.img from the rom .zip and flash it through fastboot.

Use THIS to root. Make sure you are on ICS though so you have the updated HBOOT
If you want a stock Htc sense 3.6 (The one that is offical for our device) I would recommend Wild Childs WCXbuilds.. You can google WCXxperia for his site.
If you are looking for a newer Htc sense I would recommend Homeslices "BoRKeD" Htc sense 4.1 build
Hopefully that can help ya out.
