Ok i have done some searching on this forum looking for my answer but not much luck. I have the captivate. i realy like the phone and its display. i had it rooted with atts stock rom for a while. but since att was draging there feet with the 2.2 update i have flashed a few new roms. all of wich when im in the car listening to tunes if i got a call the music would stop and i could hear the call through car speakers stoped working. I have tried diff roms and no luck to fix. so is this something to do with the 2.2 update. I was reading another post and if i read right it looks as if it is. I am currently running pheonix 4.5 wich has been my fav rom so far. So to get my calls to go through car speakers again what do i need to do? I know there is apps and so forth to make the phone go to speaker, but 9 times out of 10 i cant hear speaker phone in car.
Also i have the exchange pin. whats a good way to nuke that?
There are kernels or view that allow balks through head set. This should fix your problem. What rom are you on, what kernel
im using pheonix 4.5 kernal 2.6.32.9
Phoenix does not show actual kernel but you are on an old version of hard hardcores kernel
If you want a fix follow these steps
Dl this
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B-3n...WIxYTQtMTdhYzgzMjdjODg4&export=download&hl=en
put on internal sd
Dl sgs kernel flasher from market
Open app
Choose kernel
Tap .....
Find the kernel you downloaded
Select
Flash kernel
Phone will reboot
The kernel info will read the same. Try to make a call now, should work
What modem are you using
ok noob ? #2 how do i know what modem im using?

OK.. First of all I want you to know that I'm not a n00b and that 99% of the cases I know what I'm doing with my phone but this is a weird one
Problem no.1: The simcard keeps on "disconnecting", resulting in disconnection from the network. Since the first seconds I start the phone it does this. Sometimes it doesnt even accept my PIN as being incorrect, but in the notification bar the SIM+! icon disappears for a moment. This is after I screwed a ROM and returned to stock using the OCD JF6.
Problem no.2: It wont master clear! No matter what I do, it wont do it. I tried since the first second when ODIN detects the phone. I tried it when it fully loads the ROM, it just wont go.
Background: Before, I had installed Froyo JPA i9000 ROM with Reoriented kernel 2.1.2 (voodoo lagfix+color, bln). Everything was soooooo fast on that ROM (with around 100 apps installed) but I wanted to theme it. So I tried to deodex it using xUltimate. I followed the (logical) instructions found in a post here and it didnt want to boot anymore... well, it did but in a FCs symphony.
I did what I believed is right and I returned to stock but I forgot to pull out the SIM card... then these problems appeared.
Gimme a hint what could I do. I'm asking first here because a working PDA without a SIM is .. acceptable but a totally bricked one is worse so before I take any steps further I need your opinion.
Thanks a lot.
No one?

Problem 1: can probably be fixed by reflashing stock with the SIM card *not* in the slot (that's about my only guess, never seen that).
Problem 2: master clear must be done with the phone turned on *NOT* download mode. the phone must be fully booted with adb debugging enabled in settings.
xUlimate: it's a poorly written application and it's success ratio is probably about 50/50, another tool to look into is auto-deodexer. Also, both the framework AND the system apps need to be deodexed to have everything play nicely (gtg taught me this one)
id experiment. from what i gather you were able to flash jf6 but it was a bad flash. does it still have download mode? maybe try to flash again and then try to master clear? maybe try to flash another rom, then try to flash back to stock?
this doesn't sound like anything anyone has seen before so your best bet is to just try something.
Thanks a lot for the replies guys!
The master clear was tried from all phone statuses (booting; finished booting; after the phone operated for a while) except download and recovery (i know is not suppose to be done from there).
I did reflash to stock without the SIM, same issue.
I will try flashing again some other rom. I'll try more and ill post the result here

OK, so, it seems that for some reason, after stock restore there were still remaining of XEE CSC in the phone..
I loaded the JPA back and now is all fine.
I am having the same issue, unable to clear with CWM or odin, or within the OS in either the stock rom or axura 4 or 5...
Can you please elaborate on your solution?
CSC looks familar to me, thats an ODIN file right? If so, what part of the phone would that be (kernal, modem, OS)?
What do you mean by load JPA? Odin package or CWM? WHole rom or specific parts.
thanks...this has got me stumped
Well, my issue is that I cannot use 2.1 anymore (any 2.1, tried stock Captivate and JM8 from i9000), I don't understand what is wrong but my first bet is that the /efs partition got changed in some way when I loaded JPA i9000 ROM.
Froyo works fine, any ROM I load give me full functionality but on 2.1 the SIM gets disconnected all the time and after a while the phone reboots by itself. Just to make it clear, I never had the usual Captivate reboot issue, it started when this SIM problem appeared.
Note: my product codes are fine, in both nv_data.bin and nv_data.bak the product code is finishing in ATT and my IMEI is available in both 2.1 and 2.2 and is correct, so no IMEI corruption here.
Could someone give me a hint?? Would flashing to stock with phone EFS clear help?
Hi Folks,
yesterday I flashed my SGS (former stock 2.1) with Darkys Rom 9.3 beta1.
It seemed as everything is fine till today.
My wife tried to call me an I shortly saw her number, it vibrated shortly, the my SGS lost connect to the signal an the call was gone to the mailbox.
This happened all the time in 3G-Mode.
I tried it in GSM-Mode an an incoming call was not shown, it went directly to the mailbox without any signal at the phone.
My SGS doesn't even show who called, it's just all gone.
I don't know whats wrong.
I took a look in all the option they can be responsible for that an I didn't find anything that would say my phone to loose radio when a call comes in.
Maybe anyone has an idea and can help me.
Cheers,
Dirk
A Clue .
BETA = unfinished released for testing purposes so users can report back bugs .

you should flash back to 2.2.1 first as 9.3 is not for 2.1 its froyo based not eclair use 3 button combo and use odin to restore stock then again use odin to flash CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.tar which works with XWJS5 which is latest rom then go to market download rom manager install cwm with this and trie again with darkys good luck
Ok, tried to flash the 9.2 first and the 9.3 beta1 after it and it didn't work.
I had to make a factory-reset to make it work again.
Now I'm flashing the 9.3 again.
Just in case anyone else has the same problems, it only works with a factory-reset.
Thanks to everybody who tried to help
Cheers,
Dirk

Hey Guys, since I answered my own question, I'll just turn this into the official Q&A thread for this rom to help/talk about rom specific questions from new and old users.. Please feel free to post any rom related questions here.
As always there is no Flaming, name calling or such, just a lot of strong opinions.
No question is too noobish, but please look/search for your answer first so that the same questions do not become redundant.
We need your info in order to help you. Please make sure to included the version of the rom you are using, modem, kernel, ext...
Also please give it some time for your question to be answered, believe it or not, we do not live here.

Just flashed his new GR9 and i'm curious to know, when locking the phone (tapping power button once) is the screen supposed to have a white flash-like shut off? sort of like powering of an oldschool TV. Not that big of a deal, but can get annoying.
Any good reason why the stock sms will not send txt? downloaded handcent sms and it will send just fine. but not both receive incoming, is there a way to fix this or to disable the stock sms?

That is a gingerbread thing. If you dont like it turn off animations in the display setting or use spare parts and set them to fast, that will disable that animation but increase the speed of the others.

Just curious to the advantages/disadvantages of this over Serendipity 6.4, other than the details that are posted on the front page, what are some peoples opinions about this??
Thanks!

Anyone have the AllShare apk from SGS II? I tried the one from 2.2 ROMS on GR-10 and it just fc's. Hoping the one from the SGS II works...
First call after re-boot
On the first call attempted after re-boot, the screen went black on connection, and stayed that way for at least a minute. All subsequent calls were fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
I just came over from 6.4 and really like the new ROM. Other than that first call after re-boot issue.

Did you unzip the 7Z file? You'll see them then. It includes Odin 1.7 too.
Quick Question Regarding 3 Button Fix
Hey all. Getting ready to flash this Awesome new ROM from Serendipity 6.4. My question is do I need the 3 Button Fix working before I flash this? My phone lost that ability and was wondering if I should:
1)Return to stock using ODIN w/3 button fix
2)Reflash over that with ODINoneclick (saw that this might be required for GB roms)
3)Then Follow Mikey's instructions
Any input or advice is greatly appreciated!
If you use one click after the 3 button fix you'll probably lose the combo ... Just use the 3 button combo fix. You'll be on stock from there you can proceed to gingerbread.
DO NOT use that to get to stock from gingerbread!! Use one click for that.
gr 10 running now

Now that source is out from the SGS II, can anybody add the code that wakes up the phone when a message is received and implement that in with the AOSP Mms.apk so users that like the look/feel of the AOSP mms app can also enjoy the nice feature of their phone auto waking up when a new message is recieved?
Ill upload the two mms.apk here and rename them to easily distinguish the two apart.

I sloved my own problem, I just decompiled the mms.apk and inserted all the AOSP icons and changed out the ugly yellow bubbles for some better looking gray ones.
I'll upload once I get home for anybody who was wanting to use it.
I am wondering if anyone is having a reboot issue. My phone after installing this ROM reboots after sitting idle for any length of time... battery is at 93% (battery life is fantastic with this ROM). This is on GR 11, all flashed according to unstructions and working properly. I thought this may have been due to flashing Talon and converting to EXT4. However I re-did the installation from stock, and am still having the issue.
Anyone else having the same issue?
hello
ok so i decided to flash my phone
it was on stock 2.3.3 no branding and download mode worked straightoff

http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/10/i9000xxjvt-android-235-samsung-galaxy-s.html
tried flashing the djbrom angain and still that rom does not work keeps saying cant mount.
so goingto give that a miss
can anyone tell me how to get 2.3.6 on
or how to do the lag fix on this rom please
If you're referring to the JW1, here you go:
http://www.multiupload.com/YFZ13NPM98
Got it from Rahulrulez's thread.
To enable the lagfix, use the ext 4 app included in that rom. Everything is pretty much self explanatory from there onwards.
Alright, I have very strange problem on my phone.
It happens when I browse the internet with my phone. Suddenly, I lose my connection. Then the phone shuts down. When I open in again it has 1-4% battery and still no connection.
I have no idea what the reason could be.
I've tried to change rom but it didnt help. From 4.0.4->4.0.4 (currently)
Thank in advance
I'd like to add to OP that my phone shuts down after long use, I dont have to be at the internet.
Does anyone have any idea?

Moro.
I had SlimICS first, then I changed to XI9000 -style ROM.
But I dont think the problem is because of the rom, as I didnt have the problem first on SlimICS, but then suddenly it just "appeared".
Should I try to change the modem?
Weird.. yes, i would try to change modems, if that doesnt work i would maybe try a re install of the rom.. btw which modem are u using? I want to use xxjvu because i get a better connection with that but i get the roaming sign after installing it :X

I had JVT.
Alright, I flashed JVU now, the phone doesnt turn off anymore. But still it loses the connection, which basicully means I have to restart my phone.
Can you recommend any other modems? (modems that work in Finland)
Well, the one on my sig works good.. but that doesnt sound like a modem issua at all, i think u might have to try and install a new rom.. i wpuld suggest a FULL wipe and sd card formating before u do

Yes, I think you're right.
Im going to flash 2.2/2.3 with odin and format sd-card, after that I will flash again this 4.0.4 rom. If it doesnt work then I have no clue.
Thanks
Yes, that sounds right. Good luck!
Alright..
So I flashed Darky's Resurrection Edition Android 2.3.6 with Odin (repartition+pit+pda)
It didnt help, phone still shuts down.
Now I think Im going to backup my sd-card and try a 2.2 Rom.
could be battery related
Hi,
you've probably solved your problem by now, but just in case, here's what I found researching this issue (I have the very same problem):
This seems to be happening to various phones (although, SGS I9000 and its variants are the most frequent), various ROM and kernels. It is very
probably battery related as the solutions which helped people ease the problem the most were sticking a bit of a bussiness card under the battery
to make contacts tighter, scratch the contacts on the battery itself with scissors or some other metal tool as they have become oxidized through
frequent charging (this significantly reduced number of my shutdowns, but didn't eliminate them) and buying a complete new battery (by far the
most successful solution, although, even this didn't help some people )
