Motorola Testing Latest Froyo ROM - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Looks like Motorola is preparing to roll out firmware for testing to customers:
I have a Telus model so I don't qualify, but anyone with a European Milestone want to give this a whirl and see if they can obtain the latest test firmware?
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/323715#323715

still testing.... so long release....

It ain't going to be any different from the already leaked Vivo & Apac releases. So why bother?

Still to many bugs to class any of thoses release as final, is so, we would have seen a role out by now.

The .sbf files are no more reachable!

May be some good news are incoming?
(Sorry for my english...)

I don't think the Vivo leak will be the final build...it had a lot of odd things like old launcher, duplicate apps, odd power management things, etc.
Usually the build that Moto tests in public themselves is almost near final, I think that whatever build they will be testing will be better than what we have already.

so long, wow

Any nandroid or mirror for this SBF?

It's the same kernel as in the latest leak, i doubt anything has changed

Any updates if the Telus versions will be released?
Can anyone guide me to where i can actually install a Decent ROM for the Telus Milestone?

First O2 Germany beta test results
At android-hilfe.de there's a thread for the O2 Germany Froyo beta test. The results are not very promising: Moto ist still using the APAC kernel which is known to have a bug with the display driver (DSI errors in dmesg logs). On some phones this bug is causing crashes.
Some users report that their Milestone is sometimes lagging. Overall many people are quite angry now. After waiting for nearly a year, Moto finally delivers a buggy ROM...
I will stay with CM.

Same here, I'm fed up with waiting and now on iceandfire/CM7 since a week or so. Why bother waiting for a buggy Froyo, when I can also have a (more or less buggy) Gingerbread?!
Still, it's a shame that Moto can't get its act together

Looks like they will be rolling out Froyo at the same time this forum has finished rolling out the bugs from gingerbread
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk

buggy beta = final Froyo release
Hi,
some guys from the German O2 beta test reported that the Froyo beta will become the finale version despite of reported problems.
Moto stated on the beta test forum:
This software has been approved for distribution by o2 and Google. This
pre-release is a test to ensure there are no catestrophic failures. As of
right now there are no plans to provide newer software. We are however
investigating the issues that have been reported.
Click to collapse
Note the limitation only on "catastrophic failures"
That is: about 3 month after the Gingerbread release we finally will get the update to Froyo which is still buggy...
And Moto tells us their quality management is satisfied if there's no "catastrophic failure". It took nearly a year of development to reach this point.

Understand you cannot just flash from your sbf you have now.
you need OLYGC_U4_1.21.0.DearTaker (ME860) rom.
Also DS3.0 zip with that rom
Then you need to recover with the new Chinese Recovery boot.
i looked into it
it just looked like another themed 2.2
i doubt we'll see any performance difference between this and gingerblur
but yea try it

Word of advise, I own a defy and flashed to china sbf before. As a result, it burnt the led flashlight because the light density setting for MB and ME turns out to be different. Wouldn't say it'll be the same as Atrix but you never know..

Nova ROM is a modified ROM based on original V10C from LG. It is faster than stock one and also doesn't include all that unuseful stuff that stock ROMs have.
To flash a modified ROM breaks the warranty, but there are methods to flash the origin ROM and return to the begining.
In order to flash Nova ROM, you have to:
- root your phone
- install rom manager and then install ClockWorkMod Recovery.
- Download nova rom and flash it through CWM
Search how to root your specific software version and once root it's easy. RomManager can be installed from Market and once installed it downloads the last CWM for your device, installs it and let you reboot into recovery. Then, with your rom in .zip format inside your sdcard is very easy to flash it.
Search!!!
well i've heard september since june and have thought ok that means october-november but i think they'll actually get it out in september.

Very happy to see you again, my galaxy run infamous 1.5.
Good work for this version.
What is the difference ?
This is built from the newest (not that new) release from Samsung. Besides messing up the battery image, it has been running very smooth for me. I have added some new internal tweaks, battery and speed. I am going to work on getting the battery image fixed and out when I get a chance. Got some big plans for this version, maybe some Jelly Bean guts?

We completely overhauled the rom and rebased the crap out of it. Lots of new features and so much better. Current kernel build is 4.4-3.3 as posted in the kernel thread.

Official 5.2 released
We are already working on 5.3, and so far it is freaking AWESOME!
My Lightning Zap! kernel is featured in this Rom. With Validus and Lightning Zap! combined, we have made a spectacular, super smooth, and buttery fast kernel Rom combination.
Enjoy!
**NOTE** If you have random freezes and/or reboots, try downloading trickstermod app from play store and under the general tab, enable frequency lock. Some of our devices don't like to be oc'd for all 4 cpu's. Since cpu 1-3 (aka 2-4) go on and offline, they aren't governed by the underclock settings, meaning there is no setting the mx_cpu_freq to less than 1836mHz. I'm working on fixing this, and hope to have a kernel update out soon.

As System updates means related to google update bt as you are rooted and on a custom rom you wont be able to get the Google system update.

Yes, we are
Had to work out some issues because we changed some sources. Running a new build and all should be fixed now. Hopefully, I'll have a build out within the hour...
**EDIT** Sorry guys but some things got broke upstream. I have 5.2 booting, but ringtones and sound notifications still don't work. We are working on it thought and can hopefully have a build out soon. If not tomorrow, then it will probably be after the weekend since I have plans with my family this weekend...

I think it is long process... I tried to port MIUI v5 for XT907 on stock base.. It just wont work.. ((
Update: I've almost completed stock MIUI, I've confirmed it WILL be usable in safestrap devices.
I've almost completed MIUI Kitkat for the whole device tree; it should be available for testing tonight and is very close to being finished right now.
Stock ROM is nearly finished; but I will only be maybe providing OTA update to CM based MIUI because it makes more sense and because having to do stock for locked BL took significantly longer than I expected.
Edit 2: I'm Tquetski, for anyone who doesn't know :<
Uploading now, forgive my ISP speed.
As usual this is a preview, not a final build and broken things can be expected
I keep lying, I fixed all misc errors relating to this build and will proceed with uploading now for various devices, XT926 people be patient please :>
Tried it last night, everything run smooth, especial for alpha.
Not working list is bigger for me : contacts also not working it gives me android.acore error.

I'm doing AOSP base for every moto_msm8960 AND Stock for this phone.
The thing is that stock can be OTA'd, patch won't accept that so I'm eating the bitter apple first
To install this i uncheck system in mount menu (recovery twrp 2.8).
This rom (based on cm11) is smooth and i love it. Waiting for stable version
Tquerski, thank you!!!

Everything is now functional beside Update, Backup and Theme-Manager.
Even though I have updated MIUI theme manager seems to force-quit. I'm not entirely sure what to do about it Jing is the only other developer I've heard of resolving this issue. I sent him a PM and hopefully will hear back because I am not really positive what the issue is.
I will avoid posting another build until I can get word on Themes but if a few days go by I'mm just put it up because outside of that everything is pretty much stable
Ok, I got it fixed; I'd like to thank myself because no other dev had input
Downloading)
EDIT: Half day of using and all i can say i like it. working smooth, stable, dont have any force closes, or random reboots. it is my daily driver for now.
and one question, v6 version will come too?
