Looks good - to be honest there's a lot of functionality Eden just doesn't provide now that even stock android does - panel view is handy for the few apps it works on, but for now isn't enough of a benefit, especially since widget functionality just isn't there.
I'll give it a whirl on my PiQi Adam when I have a chance (probably towards the end of the week). Has anyone else had success with this rom or feedback regarding it?
E: Nm, followed the link over to nihacks. Thanks again.

We've had a few test it in IRC. It moves away from Eden, so its definitely aimed at people that aren't the biggest fans of it.
THANK YOU!
Finally. I think for the first time I'll actually be able to put my Adam to use. Previously it sat in a sleeve unused. It was so worthless with Eden on it. This will make a huge difference.
Quick question:
Has anyone ever been able to get their GPS to work? Google Maps always says location temporarily unavailable. I'm starting to think I have a defective GPS.
Regardless of what ROM I use, GPS never works. Any ideas? PS: Yes location using GPS is enabled in settings.
Just saw Albert Wertz's video of this rom. Real nice work. I'm due to recieve my Adam next week. Will be a willing tester. Do you think there is any chance cellular phone calling can be activiated on this device? I know it has the Ericson F3307 module for 3g, but do not know if it supports voice.
Thanks for your efforts!!!

I think there have been people wanting this feature, but would be a separate project that would apply to all Adam ROMs. I am unaware if anyone is really persuing it, and I can't because I don't use the cell radio on my tablets.
I do hope to push a new version out maybe tonight or tomorrow with the Eden apps included, but without the Eden launcher. So this would give everyone the benefit of the Adam apps without having to use the panel system.
Awesome.....From what I've seen {Without having the tablet yet} I'm not too excited about the Eden launcher, but some of the apps would be very cool.
A huge thank you!! Do you accept any donations?

Mine works great but it took a long time to lock in the first time. I suggest downloading a gps test app that will download quick fix data.

Ive just noticed that I can't get the HDMI out to work on an HP 1080p monitor nor a 720p TV.

someone on notion hacks who is on this rom reported no issues so maybe we need to wipe dalvik or possibly reflash?
or maybe an update since there is starting to be a a fan base building for this rom!
Can I just cleanup the dalvik with titanium backup or will I have to flash to clockwork to do it? First time I flashed clockwork I got stuck in a boot loop so I flashed from the internal with the notion stock recovery to update the rom.

When you got stuck in the boot loop, did you try wiping the cache in ClockworkMod? Wiping the cache from CWM seems to fix the bootloop issue for a number of people with the same issue on CWM (+this ROM).
I ended up reloading the entire adam at that point from the NI image and then used the internal flash to flash the ROM to Utopia. I have determined another problem that might not be caused by the ROM though now. I have a second sdcard showing up now with a bunch of jibberish letters and a lostdir folder. My adams internal storage only shows as having 1.95 gb total. Either my flash card is bad or i didn't get a good clean load of the ROM in the beginning. ( Never checked this before I noticed the HDMI issue.) My fix is going to be a complete reflash of the adam and reflash the entire ROM and a reformated sdcard. I also ordered a new (class 10) external sdcard just in case. Has anyone else ran into a internal flash problem so far? I don't know of a method to test my internal flash so I'm gonna just reflash the entire system back to stock and restart from there.

Yes I remember I had some strange SDcard issues and saw the lost dir in mine as well. It was having issues copying and pasting but this was only on the roms that had sniffer.(for me atleast)
did you end up getting hdmi to work?
I ended up wiping my dalvik cache via the recovery menu and the HDMI out still doesnt display on the screen. It does run a bit faster after an extended reboot though.

The problem you are defining has to do with the vold that is in the ROM and stock eden ROM. EdenX uses an alternative one, but that brings other issues.
If using linux, you will get two partitions mounted. One 2GB one, which is /data, and one 6GB one, which is /sdcard. If this problem occurs, anything you copy to your sdcard will be corrupted.
My HDMI out is working fne with this rom. Pic: http://db.tt/zILQ1yh
Rothnic..... what would you suggest I do to fix the problem?

you don't have cyanogen's 1.4 recovery image why? as long as it hasn't started to actually flash anything you should be fine yanking the battery
I'm not sure what you mean about not having the cyanogen recovery image, i do
this is the 2nd time I had the phone freeze up and you have come to the rescue both times. thats 2 beers i owe you lol
how about yuengling?
Pulled the batt, renamed the zip file
going to reflash the rom again thanks again

ahh, i thought what locked it up was the fact i forgot to change the filename to update.zip
even though i thought it should look for any zip
so now that all seems well i can just reboot my phone and reflash the rom just like the first time i flashed it correct?
move to root of SD and reboot to recovery?

yup, thats the one
in fact ive started to use ALT A because the trackball is a pain
I just wish you could use enter on the keypad to select the file rather than the trackball again
because it always double clicks and thats when i should hit home to confirm, yet it backs me out because its "any key"
so anyway the rom has been reflashed
and i see the other partion under the storage menu under settings but it shows up as only 61mb free internal phone storage

i meant did you previously have the partitions or did you just make them? cyanogen's rom will do it automatically for you if you have the correct partitioning setup which is fat32-ext2/3/4-linux-swap(optional).
and about the sig. it lets people know about ninjas(at least in my case)

all went well till the snafu flashing the rom again

side note, I was hanging out with some Iphone friends all with the 3Gs and they are jealous lol
Since MrPippy no longer seems to be maintaining the thread over here, I figured I'd bring the latest way to properly run xdandroid on Touch Diamond CDMA devices. This has been tested on my Sprint Touch Diamond (DIAM500), your device may vary.
Android 2.2.2 (Froyo) for CDMA Diamond
Instructions:
From this xda post, download the XDANDROID build (currently 7/05/11).
From the XDANDROID zip file, extract AndroidApps/, conf/, media/, zImage, haret.exe, system.ext2, initrd.gz, modules-*.tar.gz, and rootfs.img into a directory called /andboot/ directory of your Internal Storage. If you extract the folder FRXnn/ (where the nn is the build) you can rename the folder to andboot/.
If you are using DIAM500 (Sprint's CDMA), navigate to FRXnn/STARTUPS/DIAM/DIAM500 inside the zip file, and extract the file called startup.txt into /andboot/ of your Internal Storage. These contain the necessary instructions for Haret to start Android on the Diamond. There are several other types of Diamond config file to try inside the zip file if you are not using Sprint's Touch Diamond, and should be renamed startup.txt if named differently.
The list of files you should have inside the Internal Storage should now look like:
/andboot/AndroidApps/*
/andboot/conf/froyo.user.conf
/andboot/media/*
/andboot/zImage
/andboot/haret.exe
/andboot/system.ext2
/andboot/initrd.gz
/andboot/modules-*.tar.gz
/andboot/rootfs.img
/andboot/startup.txt
Click to collapse
If you want the older way of having everything in / (root) of the Internal Storage, just move everything from /andboot/ and also delete the argument rel_path=andboot from startup.txt.
Unplug the Diamond from the computer, and run /Internal Storage/andboot/haret.exe to start XDANDROID. If you have not done the calibration, there will be a white square with a cross that you will have to click on a few times. On first boot, it will take time for the system to set up the correct APN for data (usually a few minutes). If you get an error saying that no connection can be made, wait until the 3G icon appears on top before doing anything that requires data (Marketplace, etc.)
---
Optional: Download the latest rootfs Zip file from here.
Extract and rename the file rootfs-*.img to rootfs.img, and replace the one already in your Internal Storage.
Optional: Download the latest kernel bzip file from the links in the xdandroid post (several are provided) using 7Zip. Extract the modules-*.tar.gz and zImage.* file to your Internal Storage. You must then rename the zImage-* file to zImage after renaming/deleting the existing one. If you do not do this, Haret will not use the latest kernel file.
Caveats:
If you are running any previous versions of XDANDROID, it is highly recommended that you delete your data.img. This will wipe all your existing apps and data, but you can save your downloaded apps by going into /data/app and/or /data/app-private and copying it to /sdcard, but you need a root-capable file explorer.
GPS takes a while to get a position fix. It is working, but since there seems to be no AGPS support, it may take up to 15 min for the AGPS chip to get a fix on ephemeral data. Running QuickGPS from WM and keeping it updated seems to help a lot.
If you enable smart backlighting in WM, XDANDROID is unable to set the backlight level. Hopefully this will be addressed soon, since other devices (Rhodium, etc.) now has backlight support working.
If you still have trouble running XDANDROID, then make sure you post at least the following: What type of Diamond you have (model #), the startup.txt you are using (open it in Notepad to see the mtype), the build of XDANDROID you are using (along with any rootfs/kernel updates if applicable), and the last thing it does that you can see (ie. Haret reboots WM instead of running XDANDROID). Without this information, it isn't helping you or the person trying to help in order to figure out what may be going wrong.
A lot of information that applied to Andriod 2.1 (Eclair) also applies to 2.2 (Froyo), with the exception of where the files are located (/ vs. /andboot on the Internal Storage). I've kept Eclair-related instructions below.
Android 2.1 (Eclair) for CDMA Diamond Instructions: (for historic reasons)
From this xda post, download the latest XDANDROID build (currently 6/21/10).
From the XDANDROID 7z file, extract AndroidApps/, media/, zImage, haret.exe, system.ext2, initrd.gz, modules-*.tar.gz, and rootfs.img into the root of your Internal Storage. You must use a computer to extract this, none of the WM/Android apps have enough memory to extract the 7z file correctly!
Create (don't copy) a directory called conf/ on the root of your Internal Storage. Now navigate to conf/Diamond inside the 7z file, and extract the file called eclair.user.conf into the conf/ directory. This is important, you should have a file named conf/eclair.user.conf, not conf/Diamond/eclair.user.conf.
If you are using DIAM500 (Sprint's CDMA), navigate to STARTUP CONFIG/DIAM500 inside the 7z file, and extract the file called STARTUP.TXT into the root of your Internal Storage. If you are having problems with Haret restarting WM instead of booting, you can try the one inside CONFIG/DIAMOND100 or rename CONFIG/DIAM-STARTUP.TXT to STARTUP.TXT. Each file has a different MTYPE, and is most likely the cause of failure to boot into XDANDROID. (DIAM500 mtype 2040, DIAM100 mtype 1805, the unknown DIAM-STARTUP one uses mtype 1910)
Unplug the Diamond from the computer, and run haret.exe to start XDANDROID. On first boot, you cannot connect to Google's server until you have entered an APN (regression bug from 6/12/10.) Skip the account stuff for now, go into Settings→Wireless&Networks→Mobile Networks→APN, and create an APN with Name: Internet and APN: Internet. Press the Home key (to bring up the menu), Save, and then select the APN. You should get the 3G icon in a few seconds.

Good call on starting the new thread. Kind of strange that Mr. Pippy never said anything before he took off.
For pure convenience, it may be best for the OP to compile a weekly build with all necessary files. Noobs might fare better if babied along and that would also assist in keeping this thread focused on more pressing issues.
I keep running into: "failed to mount the Sd card"
Edit: NVM, found the solution
so ran the new droid all night no hiccups but noticed that the time isnt synced it was off by ten minutes tried out the nav. drove to work looked at the time again it was now off by almost 15 mins maybe someone can enlighten me on this issue or is it just me
The only error I am getting is a keyboard error.
I did all steps as described above but if I run on haret.exe it says something like starting linux... but it just restarts the mobile and windows is starting again...
do you have any glue whats wrong?

apparently this is common and its due to the lag at startup of transferring files from the sd card... just press wait and it shouldnt be an issue

Has there been any progress on metro data yet? This is the only reason why i uninstalled it from my phone. There was progress porting the us cellular data which uses proxies like metropcs for the touch with the android. There have also been native droid devices ported to work on metro as well so in theory it should be possible if anyone wants to work on this drop me a pm or discuss it here.
ok there is a issue with haret i for one can vouch for it the new haret.exe does not boot properly i dont know why or what is wrong but i know the issue is around i have a old haret that i use and works great even the new build has the same problem now if i can only fix my clock sync issue ill be happy

ok found a fix for the clock still no reboots up and running for 26 hours now been unplugs for 7 hours and im at 34 % battery talk time 27 mins and lets say 5 text messages id say thats damn good
Great How-To post, got it working on my Diamond without any issues at all. Learning how to actually use Android is another matter.
notes:
mapping doesn't work, I presume it's because the GPS stuff is not functional
some of the hardware buttons are a bit confusing, just a matter of experience but it will take some getting used to
the device EATS battery power, and gets crazy hot when you start playing with the browser and other Android apps'
lack of any USB connectivity (beyond charging) is sort of limiting, hopefully it will be improved
so far I'm so impressed with XDANDROID, not that I hate Windows mobile but it is a great way to preview Android, especially for people like me who've only use WM.

After asking around, I determined there was some interest in a simple, mostly-stock ROM based on the official HTC Sense/Froyo v3.26.605.1 release with only essential changes made; so I decided to go ahead and create one.
ROM Details:
Based entirely off the off the the official HTC Sense/Froyo v3.26.605.1 release (pulled from signed RUU); which is being rolled out by Verizon via OTA as the final build.
Moved some stock applications to /data/app, so they can easily be removed. To be clear, these apps remain enabled but can now be optionally removed using any Android uninstaller, rather than having to do it manually. This includes: App Sharing, Adobe Flashplayer, Car Panel, Flashlight, GenieWidget, PDFViewer, Quickoffice, Teeter, My Verizon, 3G Hotspot and YouTube.
All apps placed in /data/app by the ROM will be automatically restored after a date wipe or factory reset (a special feature of this ROM). These apps can be freely uninstalled via Settings->Applications or the uninstaller of your choice. Note: They will return when the ROM is re-installed or upgraded.
Disabled applications which the majority seems to agree are bloat, unneeded or can installed from the Market. This includes: Amazon MP3, City ID, HTC Footprints/Widget, VZ Navigator, Skype. If you decide you would like to use any of these apps, the APKs are available in the "system/virtuous" directory.
Numerous customization options via ROM Manager, such as Virtuous' EZ-Customizer which allows removal of more stock apps without the use of adb or shell, status bar mods provided by pmf, Incredible Revolution theme and more.
Automatic Virtuous OTA upgrade notification and installation via ROM Manager.
Minor theme modifications to remove GPS locator icon in the status bar and add transparency to the notification pull down menu. Thanks to pardonmyfreedom (aka pmf) and aiccucs for doing the work.
Added the Busybox installer application to allow upgrades as they become available. When running the installer, make sure to select /system/xbin as the destination.
Updated Adobe Flash to the official release provided to N1 users via the Market.
Updated Google Search and Google Voice Search to the latest Market versions.
Updated Gmail 2.2.1. The default ROM includes 2.2, so this is a minor upgrade to the latest version available.
Audio fixes to correct slow playback ("devil voices") of Flash videos on certain sites.
Removed startup "Drooooooid" sound. It was annoying.
Added the bash shell for those who work in adb or ssh into their phones. Just run "bash" to use it (it is not the default shell for compatibility reasons).
Removed cdrom.iso to avoid being prompted to install Verzion/HTC hardware when the device is connected via USB.
Installation:
You must be rooted, have nand unlocked and be running a 2.x radio. Follow dadicus' guide for details on how to perform these steps.
Perform a nandroid backup of your current ROM, in case you change your mind or encounter issues.
If you are coming from another completely stock ROM (i.e. Sense 2.1 or 2.2), you may not have to wipe data. I obviously recommend wiping data (since it will eliminate any possibly bad/stale configuration), but the update script will not do so automatically during installation. Use your best judgement to determine what works best for you.
Wipes are NOT required for any upgrade to/from any 2.x version of the ROM; downgrades are a different story.
Apply the zip via Clockwork Recovery. It has not been tested with any other recovery.
Expect the first boot to take anywhere from 6-10 minutes. Subsequent reboots should be significantly quicker.
Disclaimer
As with any modification (ROM, patch, etc), you run the risk of damaging your device. While unlikely, it is important to consider this possibility before proceeding. I take no responsibility for any such damage, data loss or otherwise.

(Changelog)
Hboot Upgrade Instructions
As of Virtuous 3.2.0, hboot 0.92 is now required. This hboot shipped with the original Froyo OTA for the Incredible.
Download this file and place it at root of your sdcard.
Boot into the bootloader. There are several ways to do this. If you are already booted into Android, use Quickboot and select the Bootloader option. You can also use adb by typing "adb reboot bootloader". Or, simply power down the device. Once it is off, hold the volume down button and then press power.
Once in the bootloader, select the first option from the menu "bootloader". You should see a progress bar on the right side of the screen. If you do not, you did not perform step #1 correctly or your sdcard is not formatted FAT32.
You will then be prompted to confirm flashing boot, bootloader and recovery. Hit volume up to confirm and then reboot.
At this point hboot is upgraded. I recommend reinstalling Virtuous (either via ROM Manager or manually) just to be safe.

Add Footprints?
Thanks for this rom! I want to install footprints. I've tried with root explorer r/w on and off as well as astro. I've put the files in sytem/app, tried from disabled folder and even the sd card. It always goes through the install process correctley but always ends with
"application not installed". Any suggestions? Thanks

Thank you very much for this rom!
This looks great. I'm mildly sure this is sort of what jdkeclipse was trying to accomplish. This is how the OP is done well and done right. Thanks rmk40
You should just throw some screenshots in there regardless of the fact that it's a stock rom.

you will probably have to push it through recovery with adb. I have noticed that if I use root explorer to add things to system/app they usually will not work for some reason, and the only way it will is through recovery or if I make a small flashable zip file.
Thank you! The app works but the widget does not?
Rmk, you just released it and a newer leak showed up today. Are you by chance going to mod the new one as well with your touches?
Haha, this awesome. Right after u get done with the work A new leak is released. Regardless this is very much appreciated.

Since that's an HTC app, you'll need to do that via recovery. Boot into recovery, adb shell, mount /system and go ahead and copy/move the files.

I just saw it. Yes, that's definitely the plan.
We need to get it deodexed, figure out which bugs are present in the new leak, etc. As soon as I have something I feel confident works well, I'll go ahead and put it up.

Updated to base on today's 3.21.605.1 OTA.
Got home to a pleasant surprise! Got 2.0 flashed, and got a quadrant score of ~1300. Flashed KiNgxKernel BFS #1 and jumped my quadrant up to ~1600 running at 1113mhz. Also got solid 36s in linpack.
Ty for throwing this together. Was exactly what I was looking for! Even down to the boot animation sound. Gotta figure out how to change the boot animation still... kinda new to this.
Anyway, solid work. Keep us posted if anything new shows up.
Is bump charging still needed or does the phone finally charge properly?
Hello everyone. I just bought my phone 3 months ago, and i'm little tired of stock rom, because of some lag and bugs it have. So i decided to flash some CM7. Really don't know anything about flashing and rooting. Was reading some threads on this forum, but there's so many information that at the end decided to create my own thread. Hope someone will have a little bit of time and reply it.
My phone info: (it's not rooted, just stock version out of the box)
Model: LG-P990
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110725 (what is that?)
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: GRJ22
LGE Version: LGP990-V20a
1. So first of all i would like to make a backup, so if something went wrong i could recovery my phone. Maybe you could suggest some not very difficult tool for that.
2. What should i do next, wipe, root, flash, kernel rewrite? Maybe someone could link me or write how to do it step by step.
3. Which rom and kernel to use? What are difference between them (kernels and roms)? I prefer battery life > bugs > speed > customization.
P.s. I really don't know much about doing what i just wrote, please don't be mad Thank you for your help.
First of all you should root your device, this is generally the first thing to do. I believe I used super one click for this, here is a guide for doing so: http://androidadvices.com/how-to-root-lg-optimus-2x-p990-tutorial/ also there are some guides here around on xda where you will be able to follow a step by step tutorial for rooting
For easy backup I would recommend Titanium backup. Search for it on the market it will show up there furthermore you should always backup your phone through clockwork mod recovery. Clockwork mod is an app you install after rooting and you access recovery by flashing recovery and then booting into it. It is also from here you will be "flashing" your custom rom of choice
So in a step by step tutorial here's what to do:
1. Rooting
plenty of guides are found on this lg optimus 2x forum with links and guides as for how to root your phone. Afterwards you should check if it was done properly, you can do this with root checker simply download it from the market and check it
2. Downloading your custom rom:
Next step is to download your custom rom and throw it onto your phones SD-card.
You can choose anything you like but I would recommend the build in my sig link is here
now for kernels, you don't really need any :b you will be perfectly fine with whatever you already have here But if you do want to flash a custom kernel aswell it is virtually the same as flashing a custom rom
3. Make a backup of your phones apps and contacts:
Making backups is really easy, just download titanium backup from the market to backup your apps and backup your contacts through the phones built in adress book.
4. Boot your phone into recovery:
This is how it looks:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
First of all, install rom manager this is an app found in the market just search for it and it will be there. Next use the app to flash clockworkmod recovery (yes thats the top button in the app :b). Then when this is done reboot into recovery. When here your phones screen will not be used to navigate, instead use your volume rockers to navigate and the power button to select.
When here you should make a nand-backup of your phone, this is basically a backup of everything on your phone and it can be used to restore your phone should anything go wrong here
This is somewhat like what your recovery would look like:
From here choose "backup/restore" and here choose backup. Now your phone will make a backup
Also before flashin you will have to choose both of the following options:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cache
5. Flash your rom (and custom kernel):
Now, finally, you will see some improvements :b Still navigating ClockworkMod recovery choose install zip from sd card, then find your rom and choose it. Now the flashing begins and your phone will do this for some time, once done reboot your phone and you're done!
GL and HF, i hope this helped you
1. First you need to root your phone. Rooting your phone won't erase your data. Use this guide to root your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953182
This method works flawlessly and is really easy!
After rooting, you can check if it worked, by looking for the Superuser app in your app drawer, or download the root checker app and check for yourself.
Also, after you rooted your phone, you need to install the following apps: Rom Manager and Titanium Backup. With Titanium Backup, you can backup all your apps and restore them. Consider buying this app, because it's really worth the extra money. Use any SMS/Contacts backup app to backup your contacts. (Don't forget to grant Titanium Backup Superuser access)
Afterwards, you open Rom Manager (again give this app also superuser access) and select the option flash recovery. Clockworkmod recovery mode is just a system which allows you to flash custom roms and kernels. Make sure you flash the O2X recovery and not the G2X, because you have a P990. Clockworkmod Recovery version 5.0.2.0 is good enough. You can enter recovery mode with ROM Manager or reboot into it. When your phone is off, you can boot into recovery manually by holding the power and volume down button until you see the second LG bootscreen with the blueish background.
2. First you need to download the following things and put them on your SD card:
- Any ROM (Cyanogenmod 7 or 9)
- Any kernel (Cyanogenmod Kernel for CM7 or CM9)
- Google Apps (for Gingerbread or Ice cream sandwich)
Afterwards, boot into recovery mode. You can navigate through the menus with the volume buttons and the power button. Also I would recommend you to make a backup of your current LG rom in recovery mode. (Backup/Restore - Backup - Yes) Keep this backup if you ever need to return your phone to stock in order to send it to LG.
In recovery mode choose the option:
- wipe data/factory reset
This option won't erase your root, only your current ROM and apps (but you should have made a backup by then)
After this is done, choose the option:
- wipe cache
This option is necessary in order to flash a rom
Then select the following option:
- install zip from sdcard
Browse through your sdcard and first install the rom. After this is done, install another zip and install the Google Apps package. This package includes the Android Market. Afterwards, you could install another zip, which is the kernel, but this is optional. Obviously you need to find the kernel zip and install it.
After installing all this you should be done and you should select reboot system. This will reboot your phone normally into the rom. Note that the first boot in a new rom always takes some time.
3 I would advise the combination in my signature. This combination is very smooth and fast.
Hope this helped!
Gosh this community is so helpful
Thank you so much!

You can put the rom zip file on your internal SD card. (the one of 5.5 GB) And then access it with CWM. So, yeah it's possible.

How can I add files to my phone while on ICS 4.0.4 (Nova HD)???
On stock gingerbread it worked but now i can't add any files. It shows internal storage and then no folders or files.

Nope I don't think so, many people are having the same problem. What you can do is to put your sd-card in a card reader and add files through there. That's what I do anyways :b
EDIT::
Have you checked if you have the correct drivers installed? go check in the device manager and if it says that no drivers are installed (or no correct drivers, anyways) try and install them automatically. This worked for me
Umm, I'm quite new here, so I don't exactly know how it works, but shouldn't this thread (post #3 especially) be "Sticky"?
Cause when I started to root/flash my O2x this all-in-1 post could save me a lot of time.. There is quite everything you need when you know nothing about changing a rom. And if there is something missing, you know what you need to search for, right?

I just installed custom kernel/rom.
Rom: temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD RC1-85
Kernel: [CM7/MIUI Kernel][KANG][APR02] ETaNa with Spica (c) OTF ToolKit
When i installed all this, i missed Google Play and account sync, so i downloaded some "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip" and installed with Rom Manager. I don't know why, but google play crashes very very often. Maybe i did something wrong?
And how the hell should i select ringtone from my SDcard? Because when i click Phone Ring tone theres only some main ringtones and no "select from" options.
Oh and the last one, why the hell drawer is so lagy? Because of inscripted ADW? It's very anoying.
Thanks again.

You've done something wrong when flashing temasek's kang, I get google play immediately, don't need to flash gapps and it doesn't crash, I would do a full wipe and reflash if I were you.
To select ringtones you will have a folder in your sdcard media -> audio -> ringtones. You have to put the desired ringtones in that folder.
My drawer is also laggy. Just put the apps you use in your home screens and don't use it
Hope I helped! Cheers!

Hmmm theres no such a folder called media in my sdcard. And when i create it and move mp3 file to it it doesnt appear in ringtone selection. Do i need to restart my phone when i move ringtones to that folder?
When i was flashing new rom i did that. First i made a recovery, then wiped my phone, then clicked install zip from SD card and clicked my rom file. It said that flashing was successful. Then did the same for kernel. And finally rebooted my phone. Everything went well, phone turned on, no errors .. nothing. I installed latest version of that rom, i linked it before.
It seems google play not crashing anymore, i dont know why, but it works. I didnt do anything. Other problem appeared. When i installed GAPPS, Car Home app was installed. I removed it with Titanium Backup successfully. But sometimes in my bottom bar (where clock, battery and other stuff are), it appears. When i slide that bar down it says click to close Car Home. Its very anoying. I tried to look with root explorer for that app in my phone, no clue. How the hell should i remove it? Because i cant find it anywhere. Thanks
Update #2 (25th February 2014) - 6gb and 8gb variants now available for i9100G users, sorry for the delay!
Are you bored of having to move apps to SD?
Bored of facing a stock issue of not even being able to move apps to your internal SD?
Then re-partitioning is the option for you, you may choose between a 1gb, 3gb, 4gb, 6gb and 8gb app partition (stock partition is just 2gb), please remember that the internal SD partition reduces in size accordingly.
There is a pit for everyone:
3-8GB Pit Files - For users with plenty of apps, who are bored of moving items to SD, not to mention curing the issue of not having enough space on the app partition to peform app updates, with these pits, this is a thing of the past! This is the package most people will want!
1GB & 2GB (Stock) Pit Files - For users with VERY few apps who want more internal storage space for photos/videos/files etc.
Please ask on this forum if you are not too sure which size pit suits your usage!
GUIDE
The usual rules apply, You will:
Lose all data on your phone, therefore backup anything essential including both internal and external memory and any settings or configuration, i.e. you are starting from fresh! You are warned, this will be like coming home with a new phone, except a hell of a lot more useful now we can control this essential element!
You know this already because your an XDA user
So what do you have to do? Read on for my guide:
1) Run Odin 1.85, put your phone in to download mode (vol down/home/power button) and connect to PC via USB
2) Tick re-partition box
3) Click PIT button and select the pit file of your desired app partition size.
4a) Click PDA and select your stock official samsung jellybean rom - Edit- please remember if you use a rom that is not native to your region, it would be wise to flash the appropriate radio modem afterwards to ensure you get the signal strength you'd expect
4b) OR Flash your persnonal choice of kernel in *.tar format and pit file, reboot to CWM ( power button/vol up/home button) and install new rom or restore nandroid and boot as normal and skip to number 9 in this guide
5) Flash and wait for reboot
6) Let the phone reboot and wait until the android chap finishes his spinny wire ball belly animation and then remove the battery and do a factory reset using the usual power/vol up/ home trick.
7) Let it boot so you can check that you are happy with the result. ( I didn't, but you might want to)
8) Now flash your chosen rooted kernel and either stick with stock rom or enter CWM and flash your own custom rom.
9) When your phone boots, you may get a notification to format usb storage, so yes if prompted! If not then please follow Dorimanx's advice of fixing the partition format by:
dorimanx said:
connect to pc, go to recovery, wait 15sec, then open my computer (windows) see the sd drives, one will be broken, when you try to open, windowser will ask to format, do it. and be happy.

@dorimanx - Thank you :good:
10) Remember that Android likes automatically deciding where apps go, so sometime it tries to put stuff to SD itself (app requests it), it is worthwhile checking your installed apps to makes sure they went to internal app partition, you can tell this by either:
a) Look in Titanium back up, go to the move/integrate section and see if any apps show as moveable from SD to internal, if so run the batch process to put them on your nice new app partition, otherwise you may have issues running those apps.
b) If you don't have Titanium (why not?) then check the harder way by looking at app manager and swipe to the right to look at SD app, sort by size and then individually move ones back to internal storage.
11) That easy! Here is a shot of my resulting app manager
Files attached to post including original pit in case you want it back to stock values!
Enjoy!
Yes!! Will be much obliged

Dear I9100G users!
I am looking to provide pit files for controlling the ratio of your 16gb internal storage, to provide options for you to enjoy larger app storage, just like I have done on the standard i9100 model.
I offer app storage pit files to cater from 1GB all the way to 12gb.
My thread for the i9100 is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47746656#post47746656
If anyone is interested in testing my initial pit file (i do not own a G model) and are happy and experienced enough to deal with any side affects, then please send me a PM along with what size would like your app partition to be and I will respond with 24 hours with a file to test.
Of course I can't take responsibility for side effects, so please only serious users only, please read my i9100 thread to check you understand what is involved and that you are confident in assisting.
Once I have confirmation that I have the files created properly, I will update this thread for all users to public download.

I do have one question.
Will it preserve all other partitions intact and does the required changes to internal and SD storage? I mean like, EFS partition must be preserved.
Dang. You were first
I suspect that repartition affects the ratio between /data and /sdcard partitions. If efs is affected its very risky. I would like to know that too. Even though I would not do that to my device just right now.
Sent from my GT-i9100G using xda app-developers app
Removed as data no longer valid
metalgearhathaway said:
Only the ratio of memory allocated to app storage (data_img) and internal SD (UMS) are affected, all other partitions are definitely un-modified.
I have a 3GB test version prepared and attached to this post.
I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH THAT AT THIS EARLY STAGE YOU ARE TAKING THE RISK BY TRYING, IF IT WORKS THEN GREAT! IT SHOULD WORK FINE, BUT NEVER SAY NEVER! i HAVE ALSO ATTACHED THE STOCK PIT FILE SHOULD YOU NEED TO REVERT. PLEASE FOLLOW THE FLASHING GUIDE SHOWN ON MY I9100 THREAD FOR INSTRUCTIONS.

How bad can it get? Now lets say I theoretically messed up all the partitions including efs completely. Could it get so bad that I could hardbrick the device (not even possible to get it working through odin) or could I just flash a stock ROM and after that try to get CWM on it and restore an old backup including my efs partition?
You should provide more Infos on how to recover in the worst case... And btw. thanks a lot for your efforts!

How bad can it get? Now lets say I theoretically messed up all the partitions including efs completely. Could it get so bad that I could hardbrick the device (not even possible to get it working through odin) or could I just flash a stock ROM and after that try to get CWM on it and restore an old backup including my efs partition?

Nope, as the OP says, I am testing here and that's why I am offering disclaimers, realistically, I am looking for a developer to look at it, as they will understand more about getting themselves out of trouble. Absolutely no offence intended of course!
However, recovering from an issue, which there shouldn't be any, is to follow the flashing procedure I have detailed above using the stock pit file I have attached to my beta test post.

Don't be offended
I'm actually very thankful that you offer this possibility to us.
But even a tester should be aware of how to fix things in the worst case. This is what I was asking for.
If you cannot or do not want to provide this information at the moment its ok, but it would be like the cherry on top of the cream
Oh... edit again ... I was talking about if it could hard brick the device and if not then am I right with my assumption of how to get it back running...? thats what I meant with information...

Looking at other information, should the wrong pit information be entered it should be recoverable performing the action I describe in my last post. This would suit someone with a spare handset and/or a gun-ho attidude! LOL
I wish I had one to verify myself, on the i9100 thread I was able to post after taking all risks on my own phone, everything went perfectly to plan!

No problem, as I say I am looking for just one magical person who is willing and able to be the the big man/woman
I was lucky for i9100, I had a spare i9100 to fall back on should anything had gone wrong
I have had 32gb user come to me after tying the 16gb version of the pit file, please all 32gb users if you are going to try this at your own risk, please use the 32gb version of the pit file :good:
maybe also interesting... repartitioning can be achieved through adb it seems. Have a look here

Yes it can, if you are happy and comfortable with the adb method

I've tested the pit file and can confirm that it's working. I've got a 3GB data partition now and so far has not encountered any issues. Thank you very much to metalgearhathaway.

<humor>You only did that because your hardware keys are already broken LOL</humor>
Thanks a lot. Now we can be without sorrows that ART cache will explode our data partition since it lives there in several kk roms now.

Really pleased to get reports back that all is fine
So I can now confirm this as working for i9100g 16gb model
Anyone tried on their 32gb model?
Thanks to all testers, feel free to ask for different size pit files of you like and I will oblige

Could you provide a 4-GB-internal and 9-Gb-sd_storage .pit file, for a 16-GB I9100G model.
And much thanks to you, for this awesome post.
Of course, expect it later on tonight after my little boy is asleep

Hey metalgearhathaway I appreciate your efforts in i9100g and thank you for your time. In fact I was going to use the files you had posted in i9100 forum to repartition my device but now since you have posted specifically for my device may I request for 1gb apps partition.
