[Q] SMS POPUP (by Adam)

Using SMS POP by Adam K.
but it seems that closing the popup or even doing a quick reply doen'st remove the notificatoin in the status bar as well as the notification on the app itself.
any work around?
don't want to install another SMS application

maybe you should turn off the notification in messages settings

I want to keep it on to alert me of unread msgs

easiest way is install a different sms app like chompsms, gosms, etc

Saw another bug. When i close the popup or do a quick reply the msg icon on the status bar goes away but the message icon in the home screeb still. Reflcts a number of unread msg when it should not since i already did a quick reply

[Q] how to disable Text Messaging popup

i got a Bionic and for txt messaging i like to use handcent and on my old Droid 1 i just disabled all the Txt messaging notifications for the default messaging application. but when i tried to do that with my Bionic i cant find the option that lets me turn off the popup feature of the default txt messaging app. i first looked in the settings of the defult app but all i see is the toggle to disable the notification in the status. and i disabled that but i still am getting the popups when people txt me.
can some one help me. were do i go to turn off the txt message popups?

when some one sent me a text it would popup on my screen as well as the status bar i just wanted the status bar only as a notification as well as my ring tone.
but never mind i figured it out for some reason it wasn't holding the popup settings in Handcent so when i disabled the popup in handcent it would just revert back so i thought it was just the factory messenger popping. but i fixed it. problem solved.

Notification Preview

does anyone know how I can enable notification preview? for example when I get a new text or email the notification bar shows a preview of who sent the text and a bit of what was sent. I know when I was on CM 10.2 i had that feature. thanks!

go to the messaging app, click the menu button, go to settings, then the more tab. About half way down is "preview message", make sure that box is checked to get a preview on the lock screen and status bar

Also if there is room in the notification tray you can swipe down some notifications and they'll expand. Like for gmail if I swipe down it shows more and gives me the option to reply or delete.
Doesn't seem to work if there are many notifications present.

lock screen text widget

when i get a text it shows on lock screen, if i drag down on it a empty
box shows below but cant click it (its not the widget for messages)
am i missing a setting somehow? should it show the text?

There is an option in the sms settings under more for preview and it will show the message text on the lock screen. Does that help?

yeah it shows from who and message up top in small window
but trying to find out if you drag down on it there is a blank window below
that has nothing in it and cant click it.....

I think it's a bug coz if you slowly click it it will eventually go to your messaging app. But it doesn't bother me coz I normally go to the notification window to open my msgs

Yea I'm not sure about it either..almost like it's trying to set a widget or something.
When I get a text, I click the envelope icon on the lockscreen, the box gets smaller then I click it again and it opens straight to that text.

I don't like how the text notification works either. You should just be able to touch the notification window and swipe to open the text app like on the N2!!

When you tap the notification on the lock screen, you swipe in the box that pops up and it takes you directly to the message.

How to enable message pop up on lock screen?

I can't seem to find where to enable pop ups from the messages app on the lock screen. I turned on the option in the messages settings but it says it pops up on all screens except the lock screen.
Has anyone figured out how to get the pop up on the lock screen as Well?

Open message+ app > settings > scroll down to Enable Popup Over Lock Screen > check mark. There are other settings that show up after checking this setting.

Im using messages, not messages +. I dont see an 'enable popup over lock screen'.

Hold your finger on the message app button until the a little screen pops up, press App info. , press Notifications, press On lock screen, press show content, then press Set as Priority. Not sure if this is what you're looking for though.
FYI message+ has many more options than message has. Give it a try.

Not seeing message+ in the app store. Who makes it?
** UPDATE ** I found that it is Verizon's messaging app.

There is no option to show content.
I did, didnt like the inability to customize it......... like customizing the photo in the desktop screen.

See attached photo regarding how to 'show content" etc.
See attached photo regarding customization of Message+. Open Message+, press 3 dots on upper right hand of screen, touch customize.

Go to messages, click settings, tap notifications (mine said "on time" then message preview toggle and pop up toggle are in there

On my S7, when a text would come in, the phone would go from "clock screen" to "lock screen" and an abbreviated message would show up.
NOW, on the S9, it's like the whole message pops up! Wish I could set it the other way. I guess I'm just more used to that...

I already turn on all show content in lock screen but when i receive new message just only led notification. Edge lighting and pop-up not working. Now, im using go-sms, edge lighting can work but i cant see pop-up message. Anyone know how to fix it? My device is SM-N950U
