I have some ideas in mind in terms of theming for our devices.. I was thinking how would I go about doing this? Custom frameworks for every version of froyo, with CWM files, or just metamorph theming with XML files?
Take a look here

I'm not sure what version of eclipse I download.

Would anybody like to try to make a stock Gingerbread theme for AXURA? It looks like the only gingerbread theme thread is for perception only. I'm disappointed that I haven't seen even discussion of making a ginger theme for AXURA.
So would anybody be up for it?

The gingerbread theme is for any JK3 based rom which i believe is what AXURA is also based off of, just like perception. It should work just fine
Auxura is jk2 and uses jk3 modem

Bump
Any updates?
This works with Axura, apply with CWM.

I do caution you backup the folder/file names to follow if you don't want the toggle buttons, custom boot anim and font included:
The folders to backup and restore if need be
/system/media
/system/fonts
/system/framework/twframework-res.apk
Edit: If need be I'll port the theme later today if possible to avoid people having to use the addon pack.

Enjoy! Personally the DJAxeWater is a better suited companion for flashing, just uninstall your Swype and delete /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so .
I tried flashing your 1.1.3. Nothing happened. Flashed over 2.1.
I tried flashing over rc1 and it got stuck in boot.
I'm truly sorry about that, I've corrected the framework and it should work now. Use the same link I provided before.
uhh...?
yea i dont know what your posting but it doesnt work.....doesnt do anything
Having issues with the framework....still trying but it doesnt look good..

Ok ok, will be flashing the new Axura now and test it again. Link dead for now.
Hey, guys, there's a metamorph Gingerbread theme over in the Nexus One forum that works on any HDPI device. Obviously it's not the full framework, but it's good enough to tide you over until you get a full port.
EDIT: Here's the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863110&highlight=Gingerbread+morph

Don't think that will work. The naming convention in the Vibrant framework-res and twframework-res has changed which just equals to more work, not sure if an of the online kitchens even work with them. Sorry guys, I wish I could help you guys but right now I don't have the time to renaming all the images for this ROM.

Didn't realize it was a vibrant based rom. I can try throwing a framework-res together at some point, if someone wants to upload the stock one.
Can u take the files of themes and take the things you like out of each of them and make a custom theme? Or mod a theme just a little to your liking? If so, how???
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Sure can, its pretty easy. If you are using themes already made for the fascinate its a little easier as you won't have to rename anything and the images will be correct. Just use 7zip or apkmanager to break down the .apk's and have a look.
Where do I get 7zip or apkmanager?? Is this a pc thing now or a dkwnload to my phone and flash in cwm type of thing??

You need to edit the alpha channel of the status_bar_background.png or status_bar_background.9.png located in the system/framework/twframework-res.apk
You can either decompile the apk or use a zip program like 7zip or winrar to look inside the apk. The status_bar_background image is located in the res/drawable-hdpi or res/drawable-hdpi-v4 folder in the apk.
The alpha channel is the transparent channel... if you don't know how to edit an alpha channel, you'll have to do a search on google or something to learn how to do that with a graphics editing program like GIMP or Photoshop.
Before you mess with this stuff, make a nandroid backup or a flashable zip with your current unmodified twframework-res.apk so if you mess up and the phone boot loops you can still restore your phone to the state it was before you modified it.

Just wondering if there are any guides out there to show you how to create your own custom themes. I know there is the UOT kitchen but it only customizes some things. So far I haven't been able to find anything.

Check this link out for all the basics.

Thanks!! There's a little more to it than I anticipated but I'll figure it out. One question though, the guide says to use theme .zip files from a custom ROM. Could you use the files from the stock FXZ? I quite like the stock system (minus some bloat). Unless there are major benefits to using a custom ROM? I'm currently running Liberty3 but I haven't seen much difference so far besides a few AOSP apps and the aesthetic changes.
I pretty much taught myself. I only do basic PNG editing though.
Extract SystemUI.apk and Framework-res.apk and edit the PNGs in /res/drawable-hdpi
Then either pack the APKs into a flashable zip or push them straight to the device through ADB.
If I'm only editing png's I just use winrar or 7zip to drag and drop them into the Rom zip, or theme zip that I'm using.
Thanks this has been very helpful so far. Now I'm just curious if there are any major benefits to running a custom ROM over the stock one?

For bionic. I just use stock. Nothing is wrong with it speed-wise. I like the little add-ons like extended power menu and such. But I was able to find mods or edit my own stuff to make stock exactly how I want it. For details on what a ROM has over stock, just check out the OP for that ROM. I tried Liberty and Th3ory and they're awesome, I just went back to stock for personal preference reasons.
If you realllly want a ROM...
Liberty has been the best by far for other devices I've owned. Its officially released for the bionic but its still in development a little bit.
Th3ory's ROM for the bionic is a moster as well, he's a beast.
Here is a good guide
Here is another good one by xkape
Thanks Tivo. I was quite satisfied with the stock ROM for the whole 6 hours I used it before flashing Liberty. Don't get me wrong liberty is very well done but I would like to customize everything to my exact liking.

Anytime bro.
I'm using a ROM that has system apps with an ics theme but I was wondering how can I apply, if at all possible, the ics theme to my user apps?

You can't. The theme has modified system files.
You'd have to modify user apps to do that.

Indeed they would have to be individually themed. You get lucky on some 3rd party apps and they use the actual framework from the rom instead of their own drawables.
Now the catch is that everytime an app gets updated all the theming gets reverted. This is why you don't see too many people themeing 3rd party apps. Now if all you're doing is changing up some .png's then its just a matter of dropping them into the apk every time it updates. Xml mods would require decompiling/recompiling the apk with every update. No big deal on apps that don't update very often.
Give me an example of an app you want to theme and ill get you started with simple theming.
