I need some help figuring out why my camcorder force closes. I'm running CM7. I've tried wiping everything and re-flashing, clearing the camera data, fixing permissions, and searching the forums. Everything else works. When I try to use the camcorder it will force close, then my phone will reboot a short time later.
Try to uninstall the camera.apk and replace it with this one see if that works http://db.tt/dMMC8sj
I hope it works for you

The latest Fits one. This has been happening early on though. There has to be something different with my phone compared to everyone else running the same ROM because the camcorder works for them. Maybe I need a different kernel.
The kernal that I'm running is 2.6.37-cyanogenmod-01117-g3687213 [email protected] #1

That's what I was running, then I switched it to Redstar's. I don't know, obviously. My plan right now is to wait until RC1 comes out or a Fits build with more features and then flash back to stock and redo everything. I hope I don't have to, but I'm out of ideas.
Can anybody else offer some advice before I start wiping everything again?
Camcorder will freeze, then the phone reboots.
I've tried formatting the boot, system, data, cache, then flashing again. I've tried clearing the camera data. I've tried uninstalling the camera and reinstalling it.
I'm on RC1 of CM7, the latest HBOOT, and the kernel that comes with CM7.
i have the same issue tried switching kernels to no avail.
Count me in !

This is my current Nexus one:
Mod: Cyanogenmod 6.1.0-N1.
kernel: 2.6.35.9
My question is whether or not the camera upgrade was included in this mod? I can see that there is a difference, but I havent been able to see if I got the 720p camera or not. Anyone who knows?
I would say yes, you have 720 recording. To confirm, go to the video camera, select the top settings icon and scroll through the menu. 720 should be listed in the settings, under picture quality...

Im running 6.1.1
It has 720 option...but everytime i try to use the vid came...my phone crashes and reboots.

Yes, it has 720p support.
If your phone crashes trying to use the video camera, make sure you are running a compatible kernel and radio firmware.
I flashed from Rom Manager
Kernal - 2.6.35.9
Everything else works perfect.

I'm assuming that's the kernel that came bundled with the ROM?
What radio firmware are you running?
The stock kernel is pretty good actually. Alternatively, you may try one of the latest Wildmonks kernel if you are having issues with the stock one.

You can identify your radio version by going to Settings --> About phone. It will be listed under "Baseband".
Kernels are flashed as .zips from recovery, just like a ROM. They won't wipe out any settings.
Thank you codesplice! You rock! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Looks like a bad flash. I had this issue with drop box. Reinstalling ROM solved this issue. Maybe the same applies to u too. Dropbox didn't work for me, even by erasing its data, and even by re-installing it. Clearing dalvik cache too didn't help.
Ok thanks, I will give that a try tonight

Hey guys,
I have a nexus one currently running cm7 rc1.
I heard that rc2 came out.
Is there anyway that I could upgrade to rc2 without loosing anything that I currently have on rc1?
What do I do? Could I use rom manager?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Just flash it over but do a backup first just in case.
Yes, just use ROM Manager to flash to RC2, just don't do a factory reset / wipe and all your settings and apps will carry over.
Depending on what kid of user you are, you may also want to look at Titanium Backup, its a pretty amazing tool. It has a slight learning curve but it really lets you take control of what you want to carry over from one build to the next, specially when you are going between different rom products that require a complete wipe
Soooo, all I have to do is to download the rom and gapps, and only do a backup- no wipe. After I do that will I have the same layout as rc1 but it will be rc2?

Yes, but be careful, flashing can be habit forming and RC's are a gateway drug. You'll be a crackflasher in no time.

Should we wipe to move from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You shouldn't need to wipe whenever you move minor versions, but it doesn't always work perfectly, and sometimes you end up needing to wipe anyway. Always nandroid, just in case something ends up going wrong on the new install.

Try to clear your data in download manager.
Settings, applications, manage applications, all, download manager, clear data.
Cleared data, still no go. This is a fresh install from yesterday btw.

I would just go back into recovery, clear dalvik, clear cache and flash the ROM again.
Ill try that

Hey guys so I have an issue just today my.camera forgot to start using any app that has camera access I've rebooted and cleared dalvik cache and the apps cache to no avail. It makes a weird click sound when I exit the app sometimes. Is it possible that its a hardware issue? Im running cog 5.2 2.3.3 stock.

Try stock and posting in the questions section.
Yes always flash stock first...then get worried
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
If it is broke there's cheap replacement on Ebay.
Sorry I don't remember where I originally posted.
I flashed stocked and it started working. I now flashed Continuum 6.1 and the camera stopped working >_>
Update: its working again I didn't do anything to fix it? Strange
