Haven't seen this mod in the Desire HD threads or even in the HD2 Nand DHD threads so i hope i am the first that found out this mod. If not correct me then... Figured the way to hack this flipclock so here we go!
I assume that if u want to do this you know how it works so i'm not going into details too much.
- smali backsmali classes.dex in HtcClockWidget.apk or decompile with dependencies...
- look up for the file HtcDigitalClock42View.smali in \com\htc\WeatherClockWidget
- search for these lines:
Code:
const-string v5, "clockwidget_flip"
const/4 v6, 0x1
- and change it to:
Code:
const-string v5, "clockwidget_flip"
const/4 v6, 0x0
That's it.... Happy theming peeps...
this is what i have done so far... a nice transparent clock... without the flip

Hello!
Can you please post a guide on how to get a clock like yours for someone who doesn't know how to customize themes and smali/backsmali etc.
If possible, can you also provide with files that anyone can use to install or replace the original files with, to get exactly the look like your clock?
Thanks.
Does this disable the minutes and hours flip, or just the flip the clock does everytime the home screen refreshes. As one is annoying, and the minutes flip is actually nice, it is important to get it right.
And as for extracting the files, not a clue on how to do it. So it's less of a mod, and more of a guide I would say.
Alright changed the title to miniGUIDE then. If you like to know how to mod the apk i would like to refer you to ApkTool or much easier ApkManager. If u want to pull out the apk from your phone use ADB or Droidexplorer. I'm not that guy that explains everything for these tools, if u read it u might understand why. I'm just explaining which lines u need to modify to get the flipclock disabled. This way the flipclock is fully disabled, no way to have other options...
Do you really expect people to know how to decompile stuff and then sign them? Really? This guide is beyond poor...it needs a proper tutorial or just delete this thread, useless.
I don't have the slightest idea how to do this and I'm not even going to try, when I've seen the GUI of apk manager I freaked out.

I am trying to make a clear genie-widget from the ported 1.5 version. I unzipped the apk but can't find the background.
This is my first attempt at modifying a widget and I am obviously missing something here...can someone point me in the right direction?
thanks
EDIT: Got it done. Both files available below

If I had to guess, it would be widget_bg.9.png in the drawable folder?
I do agree that it looks like the most likely suspect. So it's expanded allowing for different resolutions?
*I'm away from my comp or I'd give it a go
Here you go, drop these 2 images into the correct folders, like in the zip. They work fine for me using metamorph
I tried the two files but they were not the correct png's. I figured out which image to modify (appwidget_bg.9.png in /res/drawable-mdpi), and then spent a few hours learning the ins/outs of .9.png images and the correct method of signing apk's.
So, after rigorous testing I present:
geniewidget_clear_1.5.apk (first post)
nice work!

The files work fine on mine, but im running 2.1 so guessing there's the problem, i didnt read initially that you wanted it for the 1.5 version sorry. Glad you got it sorted.

No worries. You actually helped in pointing me in the right direction to look in the drawable-mdpi folder. I wanted to make an apk anyway for this instead of using metamorph...of course I had no idea how much work was involved though with signing/.9.png/eclipse
just curious, but what clock and blutetooth etc.. widgets are those, would like to get them

thanks alot for you help with this anyway
Little mod to battstatt,to display battery info in spanish, has some minor glitches with the sizes except large one, and another one that happen when the battery is below 10% the message below that percent has the "_y_" in front, that's because how the numbers are written in spanish. dont know how to fix it without the source code or messing with the widget core.

yea, sure, you need the program, apk manager, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
with this, you can extract the installed apk from your phone to your pc, then this pogram can decompile the apk, with this you get the main files for the widget to work, there is a folder called "res", and inside is another one called "values", there are two xml file in wich you can change the language, arrays.xml and strings.xml.
in that two files you can modify the languaje displayed, be careful when changing the names because of the dependencies with other setings in the widget.
then with apk manager, you can compile again the apk and install it in to your phone.
thats, all
hope helps you.

i don't have balls to try it, because my gingerbread is working awesome and looks georgeous. but the circle mod status bar will fit perfect in my theme... who ever will test it, will get a "thanks" (if it is enough).
by the way: very useful thread!!!
just read this:

have you managed it and how? do you have any errors after that? thx in advance.
i'm one step closer now: i tried to extract the framework-res.apk by adb, (re)place the old battery icons by the new ones with winrar (as a lot of tutorials say on google), gave the framework-res.apk the permission 644 and adb it back to phone. i don't get errors, but the icon is stuck 80%... just when i plugin usb, it changes to charging icon (but this is stuck, too - no animation!)
can anybody try this please? i would like to know if it's related to my build (mdj gingerbread 2.2) or if i made some mistakes?! editing stat_sys_battery.xml should not be necessary, since i just replaced a few icons, right? thx in advance for suggestions.

This is incredible!
So, it looks like common > src/main > res > drawable-xxxhdpi-v4 contains the Yellow, Green, and Pink background files respectively. If we wanted to make a barebones theme, would we just replace those three files and package with gradle? What about things like the dialer keys, etc, where do those resources live?
I'm super-new to theming and app development in general, but I think my skills as a designer would really benefit the community, I'd love to start doing themes for you guys!
Thank you so much for this! I have the info all there but how do you make the apks that actually theme the apps? like come.lge.theme.template.common.apk?
Edit, I did find this: https://plus.google.com/+PiereRalph/posts/9zqVrHrCWrS
Just do that for each app I want to theme? This is going to be fun haha

but can you pleas tell what to edit to change the colors and phonts? im not very good at java.
Is there a guide on how to use the files in the template? This seems more complicated than just changing a few colours or substituting images.
The readme.md doesn't say much...
I am not a programmer.
what do i edit here to change the colors? and how do i install it on my phone?
This literally helped every question I ever had however once I edit an apk file do they need to keep the name com.lge.theme.template.common.apk?

This response may never get to you but if it does use apktool to decompile it then in assets/overlays/ you will find the apks of each individual app. Use apktool to decompile those and then go from there. I just decompiled the stock 'black' theme. Once finished theming replace the new modded apk where the overlay apks are. Then use apktool to repackage. It may need to be signed when completed however, I haven't quite gotten there yet.
Hi guys, I have a question regarding com.lge.theme.template.common.apk, this apk refers to everything in the framework-res.apk is true?
Thanks for the template.
