Ok I have searched and read just about every thread regarding this issue and still no luck,,,, I am not a rookie when it comes to android.. Had a G1 weeks after it came out.. Then the mytouch slide.. and now also the G2...
But this whole nook thing is getting to me.. It will work just fine for awhile then suddenly reboot and when it reboots it wont load past android screen... (android on bottom left side of screen) (((NF 6.8))) have tried cwr via sd and installed directly.
My question and i am assuming that for some reason the boot partition keeps getting corrupted.. If im correct what coul be causing this? And if I am booting cwr from sd why would that get corrupted if i dont use it but once or twice..
And two it seems that people are having more luck with Honeycomb installed then with anything else.. Any truth into that?
Just to clarify things, are you using Nookie Froyo via uSD or eMMC?
It's weird that your boot partition is getting corrupted. If you were on NF (Nookie Froyo) 0.6.7, I would suspect you were experiencing the uSD format bug that does corrupt boot. But that was fixed in 0.6.8. And CWR isn't going corrupt boot unless you format boot within CWR, or flash a zip that modifies boot and you have a bad or wrong zip file.
As far as alternative ROMs to stock, I personally feel HC (Honeycomb) is the way to go. NF is a great project and I give kudos to the efforts of all involved. But the NF experience on the NC was lacking for me. I felt that I had to do a lot of modifications/fixes to get the NC to a point I could be as productive as I am with the 1.1 rooted ROM. In the end NF wasn't worth tinkering for me since I realized the only significant payoff for my efforts was gaining Flash capability. And I don't really need Flash for what I use my NC for.
I have since switched to playing with HC and it feels like a much better base to start with. After all HC was designed for tablet use, which is basically what the NC has become. I'm very impressed with the preview version of HC and I'm considering loading it into eMMC if I can get just a few more things figured out.

I'm currently running phiremodv3. No problems with the install. I'm aware that you have to use EXT4 to flash this ROM as well as CM7. I was curious if I was able to still run the nookiefroyo build found here:
NookieFroyo
My concern is that my internals are on EXT4. Is this a worry or can I just download the file and burn it to my sd and load from there?
Thanks for looking, this place is great.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
The ROM you mentioned completely re-images your EMMC at the block level, I believe. Whatever filesystem you started with won't be there afterwards.
Thanks for the reply. Anyone else have anything that might calm my nerves a little more?
Don't sweat it too much. I came from CM7 to Nookie and had no trouble. As already stated this rom completely erases the internal memory. I had a problem with the market not working but got it fixed following this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11626645&postcount=425
good luck
Hello...
I recently installed CWM and setup a dual-boot enviroment following the instructions over at AddictiveTips(I can't post a link apparently, sorry! Google will help you find it) but after I flashed everything, I restarted to boot into Honeycomb, but no matter what I did, it continually booted into my rooted stock. Any ideas as to how to fix this?
Same issue
Having the same issue. Did you find a work around? Think it may have to do with the overclocked HC?
Found Fix
Went to the 'Flashable eMMC dual boot ROMs' thread and grabed the 'Flashable dual boot HC v04 with gapps' rom and flashed using CMR v3.0.0.5 on the same SDCard. Was able to boot to HC by holding down the home button then.
Think it may be a HW thing. This particular nook is spankin new. It has a SN of 20106600.... and is MN BNRV200, SV 1.1.0. Purchased from BN during their 199 sale. I read on nook devs (i think) about issues with some roots on devices with SN higher then 1030... or something like that.
Not sure if this removed the overclocking or not. Probably did. Really would like to overclock the little bugger though.
I'm going to try on a older device, my own. The new one is my wifes who determined she wanted one after using mine and I couldn't have her running around with an unrooted device. I'll report back if overclocked version works on the older device.
Issue with waking up from android going right to Original
Turns out my device has a high SN as well. Overclocked HC image didn't work on it either.
So I have tried this a number of times. When I try to install Nookie Froyo to the EMMC using CWM 3.0.0.5, I keep getting Installation Aborted. I had flashed it back to stock 1.0.1 to start over but no dice. Then it hit me. Dummy, I didn't re-root.
So, flashed - yet again - back to stock 1.0.1. Used B&N's ROM to update to 1.1.0. Used Auto-Nooter 3.0.0 to root it. Then created a bootable CWM with the Nookie Froyo zip file on it. I really thought I was going to have it this time but once again, Installation Aborted.
So far, the only ROM I have been able to install with CWM is the original stock 1.0.1. Piece of cake there. I have been using the same Nookie Froyo from my other SD card I have, absolutely love it which is why I want to get it on my EMMC so I can free up the card.
Any ideas? I am scratching my head. Been at it for 2 nights.
If you're trying to flash a ROM that is intended to be bootable from SD to eMMC THAT'S your issue. You need to use an eMMC ROM zip file. From what you're saying it sounds like you're not.

I wish it was that easy. I've been careful in following directions so I definitely have the file that is meant to be flashed to the EMMC - nookie-froyo-0.6.8.custom.3.zip. As opposed to this file - nookie-froyo-0.6.8.SDCARD.2GB.custom.3.zip - which I unzipped and used the resulting image file to create a bootable SD.
I appreciate the response though.
I am new to this stuff and I have read and re-read the volumes of posts and instructions. I am floored by the talent of the Developers and am infinitely grateful for all the efforts! Tried multiple searches to see if someone was having the same problems and have come across those that would get the Installation Aborted message within CWM but they were able to figure it out. Unfortunately, none of their solutions helped. Argh.
I know there were issues with CWM versions before 3.0.1 and B&N software version 1.1. I was on B&N 1.1, rooted, installed CWM 3.0.0.5, but I couldn't make a backup. So I searched around and found some info saying that those two software versions didn't get along. After I upgraded CWM to 3.0.1, everything works as it should, maybe that's your issue as well. I hadn't tried flashing anything through CWM 3.0.0.5 before upgrading it though, but it's worth a shot.
Now THAT sounds promising! I did try 3.0.1.0 but not since I flashed it back to stock, installed 1.1.0 and re-rooted. Thanks much for this bit of info. I will try this tonight.
I don't feel so dumb now.
Just to experience success, you could just try to flash from this image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938200
Burn the image to SD card, insert into NookColor, follow instructions to flash.
Worked perfect for me and I had a completely stock NookColor 1.1.
Best regards,

Oh, boy. Back to feeling dumb. For some reason I made the assumption I had to flash CWM then copy the zip file to the the SD card. If I followed Brian's instructions to begin with, I would have saved myself a ton of time. Ah, well.
So I got Nookie Froyo flashed to my EMMC but there are some differences to the SD card version. So after all that, I am back to my SD card installation. i know Brian is working on another EMMC version that sounds like the SD card install. At least now I know what I am doing.
I do appreciate the help, all.
FWIW, I tried, albeit very briefly, the same nookie froyo that you're using, and I found that I like CM7 a lot more. Now that you got your issues ironed out, you might want to give it a shot and see how you like it. There's a good write-up about installing and maintaining a CM7 rom over on androidtablets.net.
Hello,
I have read and watched and searched different ways on rooting the nook and they all either don't seem to work or are confusing. Can someone point me in the direction of complete step by step instructions for rooting my nook on a micro SD card. I feel dumb while trying to do this because its my first ever root even though I have assembled computers. Its the software that makes me nervous. Thanks for any advice.
I totally understand how you might be hesitant to jump in. I came here a few months ago from a windows phone and had no clue about Android devices. Get yourself a Sandisk card (4 or 8gb ought to do the trick). I went with a cheaper card at first and was very disappointed with the way it worked.
Follow the directions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
and you should be fine. good luck!
It may be a little daunting at first (I'm a new NC owner myself). But just keep in mind, the NC is setup to boot off the SD Card first. So you essentially always have a recovery method there. Also, if you don't flash CWM (Clockwork Mod) to be your recovery, you can always use some methods to restore the device ( 8 failed boots for example). The methods are listed on the forums quite a few times. But, basically... android is just another flavor of *nix. Though it does have its own intricacies.
As long as you backup your current setup through CWM's backup operation (AKA: nandroid). You can do pretty much anything and just do a restore to get back to where you started. It's almost like ghosting a computer... It just doesn't redo your partitions.
Get yourself a copy of CWM Here's the most recent 1gb image. This basically gives you a bootable SD Card that can backup/restore the internal memory, format it, and flash images.
You can get the latest cyanogemod rom's nightlies here. You also need Google Apps if you're going to flash the new rom though.
And here's a guide to revert to stock.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with the SD Card system... I would just root the internal rom and flash back if you don't like it.... or flash a different rom, like CM7, if you want the nook to be more of a tablet than an e-reader... just keep in mind... it wasn't meant to be a tablet...
Hopefully this helped.
Ya just wanted to chime in. Its pretty hard to mess up on the process of rooting and if you do there's ton of threads to help you out along the way! Even the NC wasn't meant to be a true android tablet it does the job well and well worth the money. Maybe ill go better later down the road, but after what I paid for this NC brand new on CL I SOOOOO happy!

I've been trying to find answers to all my questions but it's hard when I haven't been keeping up with the CM7 process, so I'll just start with the simplest I have
I am currently running CM7.0.3, can I update to Nightly 177 without clearing anything? (or should I update to 7.1 RC instead of 177)
The other question that I have that might be able to have an easy answer...is there any place I can go that tells me all the features of CM7 on Nook? I know a lot has changed in between 7.0.3 and now...their release notes are confusing because it deals a lot with fixes and backend that I don't need to know. Alternatively, if someone would wanna outline the changed/additions, that'd be awesome too!
7.1RC is pretty stable. I just updated to 176 the other day though and it's been almost as stable (a random freeze here or there.)
For updating, all you need to do is clear dalvik cache. You can keep all your apps, settings, etc.
As to what's really new, I'm not sure of all the changes. I know the kernel included in 176 allows for OCing to 1200MHz so that's nice. Hopefully someone else can chime in with what the big stuff is.
You can safely update to 177 either with ROM Manager if installed on the eMMC or by dropping the 177 .zip file onto the boot partition of the SD card if running off of the card. All you need to wipe is Davlik in either case.
You're not telling us how you run CM7, from eMMC or uSD.
if you do flash to n177 you'll also need this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dalingrin.nookcolortweaks&feature=search_result
thanks for the replies guys! Sorry, i forgot to mention that I'm currently running it off eMMC.
@boxcar8028 Thanks for the link that app!
This kinda brings me to the other question i had that I'm currently reading through the post for, but I'll ask here if anyone knows the answer...
I'd really like to do duel boot CM7 and B&N 1.3. Is it possible for me to go from where I am, update to 177 (or 7.1RC or anything like that), back that up and then do the duel boot from that file? That way I don't lose anything and I'm able to get duel boot?
I'm reading through ikingblack's post, but there is 17 pages and I don't have much time to spend on the forums unfortunately, so it'll take me a while to get all the way through!
Thanks again everyone!
I always prefer updating CM7 using CwM uSD card, not using ROM Manager.
Pop the new image into the uSD's root folder, boot up then install zip from there.
Note: you might (and most likely) run into the Market issue, don't panic, everyone of us got hit.
If you want to use stock 1.3, then I suggest spend $25 purchasing a 16G Sandisk uSD and boot CM7 off it.
bumping this in hopes someone can tell me what's new still...
@votinh, I don't like the idea of booting off the SD card because although many have not had any issues, many others have plus I like the idea of it actually being on there. if anything I'd love to be able to run the B&N software off a SD, but as far as I know the person who was working on that stopped and no one else has.
I'm just about to update to RC7.1 but now I'm hearing that the sleep of death issue is back, so I'm not sure about it. I'm pretty sure that it was fixed around 7.0.3 or before right?
We or at least I don't know what the new/additions/fixes/enhancements on the front-end of CM7 but what we know is their development logs:
