[Q] camera damaged after camera firmware update flash

hi,
i recently flashed my camera firmware using the code *#*#34971539#*#*
now it is not working anymore. i cant do anything when i open the camera app and short time later there appears "camera error" (german: kamerafehler)
does anybody know what i can do? i also tried older firmwares and flashed the camera again but it is still not working anymore.
is there any possibility to fix this? or do i have to send it to samsung?

What made you update the firmware? from what i've read and been told you should NEVER update it as it will break it. You found that out. Sounds like you will need to flash down to stock rom and return to samsung

i decided to bring it back to the service partner. i tried JM1 and updated with kies to froyo 2.2 now. is it normal that my kernel is named: [email protected] now or is it because i rooted it in earlier times? i removed the root before i flashed the fm1.

yes, it is normal that kernel name is [email protected]
at least mine original from box have got similar name

Galaxy S Camera Problem

I recently updated my Galaxy S to v2.2 (JPH firmware) using Kies. I also rooted my phone using the relevant file and applied One-Click Lagfix V2.2.
I was very happy with it, except I tried using my device's main camera today and it doesn't work properly any more. Prior to the FW update, it worked just fine.
Now, each time I take a picture, the camera app appears to be working -- I can focus and so forth -- but once I press the shutter button, it seems to be processing and then I get a broken picture icon in the middle of the screen.
Unlike others in this forum, I don't get a "camera failed" message at all, just the broken icon.
I've read various posts on different forums as well as this one and have tried the following:
uninstalled OCLF,
switching from SD card to phone memory
re-flashing camera firmware
I'm not absolutely certain but I don't think it's the Camera apk because I tried taking a shot with the front camera and it works fine.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, what steps did you take to solve your problem?

i have the same problem as u too. and i am trying to find a way to fix it

and finally my camera doesn't work @ all

Then 6 and Factory test, reflash a stock rom, reflash the cam frimware, reboot and test.

There are 9 numbers starting 1.VBATT; 2.RTC etc ... 9. TOTAL CALL TIME

My camera bad yet.and update faild. why?

gingerbread camera not working

can anybody help,no matter which gingerbread rom i flash both via odin and cwm my camera doesnt work,get all the icons round edge of screen but black screen,front camera works perfectly,if i flash back to froyo camera works perfectly,any ideas guys,many thanks

Try flashing it using KIES. You can get the KIES registry spoofing tool here:

If you choose NEE in the spoofer it will download Gingerbread.

Camera not workin on Gingerbread (any 2.3 ROM)

No Brandings
No Locks
O2 Germany SIM
16 GB external SD
On any 2.3 ROM I flash my "main" camera is not working.
I tried Cyanogemod, DarkysRom, MIUI, Hamsterbread and official Samsung 2.3 Release via Kies.
Always the same Result:
- On non Samsumg ROMs the Camera Apps don't even start. They exit with a Camera Failure Error.
- On Samungs ROMs the Camera App starts but stays with a black Screen. The Front (Face) Camera does work just fine. But the "main" Camera does not show anything. When I try to take a picture or switch to video-mode: The application freezez. Next time I start the CameraApp I get a Camera failure error.
Flashing back to 2.2 (Froyo) - Everything works just fine.
Before I start playing with Camera Firmware Stuff I wanted to ask if someone has a safe way to solve this problem.

[Q] how can flash .bin camera firmware ? (my camera always said CAMERA FAILED)

i have problem with my camera, it said "camera failed" when i opened camera app
i have tried anything:
--dial *#0*# , test my front camera.its fine . then i tested megacam (back camera) and always FC
-- upgrade baseband,kernel,custom rom,custom kernel etc
--factory reset
-- flash stock GB and stock ICS from ODIN
nothing is worked
i cant claim guarranty because i bought my phone from thailand, and right now im in brunei

how can i flash the .bin firmware camera on that thread? maybe this can fix my problem

i believe ur back camera is faulty. cuz u flash gb n ics still having same problem.
why not u go to playstore n download n install camera make sure ur back camera is working b4 u make a post ?
if ur camera is working n ur phone is root u can just find a suitable camera do a copy n paste on it that's all.

Question Front camera and sound system not working.

i started having issue with my camera after 12.5.9 update my default miui camera app would close after clicking one photo although it was working in other camera like snapchat or fj camera. But few days after 12.5.10 update both front and back camera completely stopped working.
I unlocked my bootloader to downgrade the rom or flash custom rom as this seemed like a software issue . But after a week when i downgraded to my surprise the issue was still there which implies that the camera hardware has failed . So i dropped the idea of installing custom rom and instead went to service center, now they are replacing the motherboard as its hardware issue . I am gonna get back my phone today from service center so will update you guys accordingly .

Its weird that software update can cause hardware bug but what i think is that with the update kernel setting might have been changed which can cause over voltage to camera module or something. Its my wild guess i don't have much idea about it . I would love to know it from experts out here .
