launcher pro remove defualt icons? - Nook Color General

im rooted with the 1.1.0 rom loaded. ive installed launcher pro and it works good. my only issue is the icons located in the dock. because in have a nook, i know that the phone, messaging, and contacts will not work. is there a way to remove them permanently so that the app drawer icon is only thing there at the bottom? thanks.

hold the one you want gone and go to change shortcut and make it blank.
Is this what you want?

You can't modify shortcuts (any shortcut at all, not just LauncherPro) on Eclair.
As far as I know, this is impossible.

but the dock that LP comes with has phone, contacts, etc. You can remove those, unless I am miss understanding the op.

Yes you can...
On Eclair, you cannot alter the Launcher Pro icons from your Nook device. However, you can set up your Launcher Pro homescreen (icons, widgets, or whatever) on another android device and copy it over to your Nook. Refer to this thread for the exact procedure.
I have done this myself, and it works perfectly.
Note: If you only want the app drawer icon you can do that with the above method. But if you want you can set up other icons that actually work in addition to the app drawer icon. As long as you have the same apps on your Nook, the icons from your other android device will open the same apps on your Nook when you copy over the homescreen.

Just switch to zeam launcher. Seems to work much better than launcher pro and adw, imho.

i agree. i tried lpp and the removing of shortcuts in the dock is too much of a hassle. adw was ok. i forgot reason why i didn't like it. i tried all 3 n sticking w zeam

Zeam pales in comparison to Launcher Pro when you take into account the widgets.
There are absolutely no Facebook, Twitter, and Calendar widgets on the Android Market that work as well and look as good as the Launcher Pro widgets do.
Also, they scroll, which no other FB/Twitter/Calendar widget can do.
If you know of apps/widgets that do, please let me know. But I have yet to find a single replacement for all three of these that even come close in terms of functionality/look.

For another datapoint... you can set dock shortcuts and swipe gesture shortcuts with Go Launcher.
I couldn't get any other launcher to switch shortcuts on the dock (I haven't re-tried Zeam though).

Best Widgets?

I just got my G tab and have installed vegan. I am liking it a lot, but I cannot find widgets that look good on the homescreen. I am using launcher pro and want to know what you guys are using to make the homescreens look awesome.
THANKS!
MixZing has a nice 4x4 music widget. Also, another user here recommended Jorte as a replacement for the stock calendar--it works very well and I'm now using that. Finally, I also loaded up Android Photo Widget (Free); it displays and cycles through my photos--the free version limits you to 10 photos; paid version more. Nice widget.
Oh, I'm also using Typoclock which can be found here on XDA, along with a companion widget called TxWthr which is very basic; I link that widget to the WeatherBug app, which is awesome.
thanks for the reply. just got the typo clock.
anyone else have suggestions?
Where did you snag the photo widget? I have been looking for one that will allow me to select a specific gallery.
Another trick to make it look much nicer is to install ADW Launcher then go into the ADW settings and set it to the Max number of columns and rows.
This can also be accomplished with LauncherPro, so it is whichever launcher that you prefer.

I like the launcher pro plus friends widget that combines Facebook and twitter. The calendar widget in lp+ is cool too.
Audio Manager Pro has a good widget for quickly switching sound profiles that you create. Widgetsoid (free) can be used to roll your own toggle bar for pretty much anything on the device.
I am still working on my pages, but here is what seems to work best for me at this time. I also have the post-it notes widget, not yet on my screens. I try to keep my screens separated by media, utility, and gaming, once I load more games for the kids, they will get their own screen.

Yeah that Button Savior looks awesome! Stock TNT works okay with ADW launcher replacing the home screens. I'm just using that setup until Cyanogen is a little more stable for the tab.

[Q] How to edit the number of home screens for the Cognition ROM

Hello. I recently upgraded my Cognition ROM, however, ever since using cognition, I've never been able to find out a way to edit the number of homescreens. There are seven that I have, however, I can not find an option to only have, let's say, three home screens.
Is there a way to go in and make it so that there are only a specified number of homescreens, for example, an option that allows adding or deleting homescreens such as in the Eclair 2.1 base OS.

Try menu, edit. Should bring up previews if screens and have options to remove
Well, that's the thing... under menu, there is no option for edit. Only "add", which adds widget, etc., "wallpaper", "search", "notifications", and "settings" which brings up the regular settings menu...

I am sorry last I was on cognition that worked
Some launchers you can not delete home screens
If I am not mistaken the launcher that is the default launcher is a version of TW launcher with no settings. Download Launcher pro.
Edit Just looked at the change log and the launcher that is included has no settings. So just download the launcher you want and run with that
It's probably the stock gingerbread launcher, which I hate, and is slow, I just use LauncherPro with custom dock and icons.

Cognition comes with launcher2 which, by default, cannot be edited like that. Install adw or launcher pro to get the same feel. Adw is actually based on the launcher2 source code, unless I'm mistaken. Your only option to edit those settings is to install another launcher app
Thank you'll so much! I didn't figure there was a way. I have used LauncherPro in the past, so guess its back to another Launcher!
Thanks again!

HD Glass Icons Released

Here are the icons I have been working on for the past few days. Credit for the original HD Icons goes out to mikebeecham for his icons which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828832
I just simply made a "matte glass" template and imported his icons. I did one for almost ever app that I use on my homescreen, so there are a few major ones missing. However, inside this .rar file you will find a Photoshop template. Just download the original HD icons, import the desired icon into the "icon(REPLACE)" layer, resize to fit, save as a .png with transparency (its important that you enable transparency) and copy to SD card. To get the most out of these icons, use Desktop Visualizer. Download from the market, install, and add a 1x1 widget to the desktop for each icon. Pressing it will bring you to the settings for that widget. Simply browse to the file on your SD card, select the desired app, use no text and a transparent label, and your good to go. Below are some screens of my current setup to show you how they look in use. Please enjoy, and upload pics of any icons you create so we can all see!
Thanks guys. -Steve

You need to use
A. An app that allows custom shortcut icons like folder organizer or bettercut.
b. A lot of work that will break updates from the market on a lot of apps.
A. Tends to be the better choice.

Yeah i search all the time for an app drawer replacement that will let you do just that... it doesnt exist.. and i dont know why. The one way i did it was to use folder organizer, replace all the icons with folder organizer. Then take a folder organizer folder with all the apps in it and drop it on my dock in place of the app drawer in launcher pro. Basically used a folder as my app drawer. It did the job but was still a pain in the ass.

[How-To] Place Transparent Icon over icons embedded in Wallpapers.

Yeah! Those icons on the shelves, below the Jorte calendar are launchable icons. The icons are embedded into the wallpaper onto the shelves (which are embedded as well).
I have seen in a couple of threads, people asking for tips and tricks (T&T) on how to do this, and it has been explained by kind sharers many times over. Thought I would create this thread for those in need, and keep other threads free from clutter!
For this tutorial, I would be sharing T&T on using ADW Launcher (or ADW Launcher Ex), because that's the only launcher I use, which in my personal opinion is a great launcher. I would sincerely request that other launcher users, like LauncherPro or GoLauncher, to share their details here too, and I will update this post with the relevant launchers.
So here we go.
How to embed shelves and icons?
There are software like photoshop (payable) and GIMP (freeware) which allows you to do editing easily. Shelves (various designs of them!!) can be found at deviantART. Simply use them, open with GIMP, place the shelves at where you want them to be on the wallpaper. Done. Same applies to icons.
How to make them launchable?
For this, we need a transparent icon, which I have attached here. [Please click on it, let xda open it up in preview, and save it from there. Otherwise, right-clicking+save removes the transparent effect.] Save the transparent icon into your sd-card.
1. Go into your launcher, press and hold on the app (for example bar-code scanner) and drag it to the home screen.
2. Place it over the embedded icons.
3. Using the adw launcher options, press and hold on the app icon, on a pop-up dialog, hit the "edit" button.
4. Press the icon, it will ask where you want to get the icons from. Select "Select Pictures" and select "Gallery"
5. Select the transparent icon which you saved in your sd-card. And Done!!
Notice
Sometimes you have different set ups. For mine I have 4 Icons in a row on a shelves, and 2 shelves. Having a 4x4 homescreen doesn't allow me to place the app icons at where I want them to be. So I would need to create more rows and columns for my screens. ADW Settings > UI Settings > Screen Preferences > Desktop Columns or Desktop Rows. Personally I have a 8 columns by 10 rows set up.
I am done here. Once again, fellow alternative launcher users, please PM me or comment here on how you do your stuff! I would be more than happy to update this post with other alternatives.

[Q] 4.2.2: Lockscreen with the default swipe applauncher

I hate the default swipe lockscreen, I want the normal swipe one from AOSP where I can pick between several apps to launch from the lockscreen.
Where do I get that? Is it available on the App Store, or as an apk?

Rename /system/app/XperiaLockScreen.apk to XperiaLockScreen.apk.bak or move the file to your sdcard.
It's that simple.
EDIT: Didn't see that you wanted the shortcuts. That will need some work. Not sure you will be able to get a replacement like that.
And the Lockscreen Widgets, yes... Holo Locker will give me the shortcuts, but not the widgets, and the default will give me the widgets and not the shortcuts.
Why the hell would Sony disable the shortcuts like this without adding any functions? "Value added" my ass.

You could try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42808283&postcount=3
Although the guide is for 4.1.2, it should also work for 4.2.2.
I'm not talking from experience here, because I haven't tried it, but this seems to be what you're looking for?
EDIT: If you can upload your framework-res.apk, I can probably try to do this for you.
Great, thanks! I'll try later, and I might ask you to do it for me if I can't figure it out.

It does, but the lockscreen music controls no longer work, so I don't know if that's because that just how it is (i.e you need to manually add the widget) or if applying the same code broke it, but this is how mine looks...
