XDAmembers, this is a poll for know wich rom is the faster
If you include Hobomod, which is based on Shadowmod, then include also Ho!no! and iceandfire which are based on CM7.
Also, you should remove the version numbers from the poll, as those are changing quite fast, and they are already outdated.
Add the missing stuff & I'm sure many people will find the poll useful.
Do include Cronos Gingerbread!
There is already a poll that is ongoing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953971
Thus it might be better to do another one 2-3 weeks from now, that more updates would come out!
ShadowMod without a doubt!

I've been very pleased with Liquid Gingerbread v1.12.
ShoadowModb6 with newest kernel and 1000/550/250/125 overclock has been working great for me for a week now
I think HO!NO! mod is great.
But ALL of these ROMs can not play video on my Milestone. Any one seen this problem and how to resolve it?

I have been using only CM. However latest CM7 0.07 has memory issue. Phone lags after a day of moderate use, free RAM hardly reach over 35MB.
I'm waiting for CM7 to turn into a release candidate before I attempt to test it out...
Cyanogenmod 7 definitely!
I vote to Shadow! It's very smooth!
Does anyone know if ProjectEliite V5 is a full Gingerbread ROM, or does it use Froyo as it's base with bits and pieces of GB?

Hi,
I want a really fast ROM that runs on gingerbread (2.3.3) - I don't care about the look or similar, I just need the speed. I hope someone can recommend me fast ROM.
CM7 or MIUI are very fast ROMs. I dont know if they are thee fastest, but i like the smoothness and responsiveness
However they are not completed, They are stable but still have a few minor bugs, as do lots of roms.
BUT there are many 2.3 Roms available in the development section so just do a little reading and see what tickles your fancy
Best to give them a try (for a week or so).
Many people's judgement at XDA is compromised because they run Quadrant, or they've hung around for so long that they get to know the developers and the popularity of certain ROM's. Even worse, very few people here have actually tested tested many roms in depth.
In fact, a ROM which may be faster for a certain game, may be slower for others, which is why you should give them a test yourself

It says I have to go back to Froyo. Also tried flashing it, and it couldn't find any networks, just says Error. Tried rebooting, wiping data, factory reset, flashing again - nothing.
you have to go back to froyo so you dont move to MIUI with the wrong bootloader.
MIUI is GingerBread 2.3.3 . it clearly states this in the first page.
So far I've tried Darkys, Juwe's and PilotX and Juwe's felt the fastest and I loved the battery life.
I don't think MIUI is fast, it got lots of UI enhancement anyway.
Miui And CM9 is a best roms and fastest

I'll second surface. Seems to be one of the more stable JVR roms out there. Just make sure you follow the flashing instructions to the letter or you'll have problems.
I think the question is - why a custom rom? What do you want in a custom rom? Look through the specs and make your choice. For me, stock JVR, rooted with twlauncher 4.5 from frogger. does everything I want.

Try galaxy sense 0.6.
Experience htc sense on your galaxy. For those of you who think they are stuck with samsungs touchwiz, try this htc sense 2.1 it's infinitely better (in my opinion ).
This rom is work in progress but i have just tried it and is getting very close to my experience on my old htc desire. There are a few bugs as of now but the developer appears to be getting very close to a complete version.
Try it, there will be no going back!!

Tornado ROM JVR (look in my signature to get it)
The first and fastest ODEX based JVR Custom ROM
Contains a addon app so you get to decide what app stays and what goes. (remove and add feature)
Combined with the Tornado kernel it is pretty damm quick and responsive.
Supports ext2 / ext4 / rfs
CWM now converts to ext2 and has the goodies like OC / OV
Hello,
I started a thread like this a couple of days ago and then decided to whack on Galnet MIUI. I gotta tell u, i love this ROM, I don't think I'll ever change from it. The reason why I didn't get it before was that you needed Froyo bootloaders but with the new 'twooey' named ROM, you can just install it like any other gingerbread ROM.
It's really quick, amazingly customisable. The themes are great and all the new features leaves your phone feeling like a brand new thing, you have to explore all the options and settings again.
Before this ROM, I'd tried most gingerbread ROMs and I prefer this by far.
Anyway, hope you find the ROM your looking for

No it's definetely not laggy.
As for the battery, I've seen a lot worse. I mean, It's not great, but you can still get 1 1/2 days out of it with moderate usage. But bare in mind my battery isnt fully calibrated yet, I'm hoping it will go up to 2-3 days after a few charging session.
I would say, make sure you give it a go before making your mind up about it.
Another plus for it is it's based on CyanogenMod which means it's constantly in development whereas Samsung based ROMs more or less have to wait for Samsung to release new beta roms to continue development in the same way.

For me:
SAMSUNG GALAXY S i9000
Blockbuster 4.0 JVR Magnificent
GalaxianGT SP2 Kernel
FW: I9000XXJVR -> Android 2.3.4
and why? Because blacktheme in Blockbuster is good for battery life and galaxian kernel is one of the faster
I was on blockbuster and I also liked it because of the dark theme, but after I saw that CM switched to gingerbread bootloaders I gave first CM a try and was impressed, then I tried MIUI and it makes the SGS totally new, so I will stay with MIUI now, I have also a very black theme .
Juwes 5.2 JVQ with Semaphore 1.5 JVR at 1.2 GHz and GingerWay BlueOcean RC theme (The best theme around). So far the best of all the worlds.
Smooth Fast and Super-stable. No FCs what so ever. All apps are working as they should. Also I deleted some system apps to make it light.
Only one word for it.... Beautiful!!!!
MIUI
Galnet MIUI Couse its stable fast and extremly easy to theme'
I actually use DarkyROM, because of the theme, it's really nice!

DarkyROM 10.2 EE with Darkcore 2.9.3 kernel
Why1: because I wanted to start fresh and DarkyROM 10.2. EE had it all in one nice zip package bundled with Odin. The installation was pretty straightforward http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
Why2: because the official Cyanogenmod is still at RC for the SGS and its guides to install are not so user friendly. I followed http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide and to my stupidity I paid little attention to "This guide assumes the Samsung Galaxy S already has Android 2.2 installed on it" and flashed the wrong kernel and then did not have SGS booting for a while, freaking me out, until I installed an Android 2.3.x compatible bootloader.

Same here, I hate cm7's ADW stuff they use. Stock gingerbread UI is much better compared to ADW.
You can go with BuglessBeast which is mostly stock gingerbread with few additions like over clocking support.
If you want to stay bleeding edge then install MeDroid or TexasIce ICS ROMs. They both have camera and gallery issues, missing hardware acceleration and calendar sync issue.

In my opinion the GUI is nicer in ICS, but it is not yet stable enough for full time use. I haven't tried games like Angry Birds yet, but I suspect they wouldn't run well, because graphics aren't properly fixed in the port yet.
First of all ROM basically is ur choice how u wanna use ur phone.
As u said that u already used miui, y bothering trying any other ROM? It's fast stable and good looking ...
On the other hand sense ROM is also good but u always have the processing issues unless u have a high class SD card.
Bugles beast is a nice suggestion for u to use gingerbread UI with smooth and minimal usage...
PS: since I've started using miui I've not thought about any other ROM
Sent from my Nexus WON on MIUI ;-)
I've practically tried all the ROMs on here, from MIUI to Sense and I've got a few things to say.
MIUI looks like iOS in many ways, but is VERY themable. There are themes for almost anything.
CM7 (mainly samuaz's build) is a very fast and stable ROM. It basically displays the stock android experience with a minimal UI. Highly themable.
Sense: HTC's firmware now ported to the Nexus One. Features a stunning and hefty UI that takes a lot of resources. I've tried all builds here, but mainly Runny AIO and I have to say that's the best build. I love Sense. It is not really recommended to run Sense if you have a class 2 SD card like I do, but I'll upgrade it for a class 6 one tomorrow.
Ice Cream Sandwich/Cyanogenmod 9. Very hyped, but with all rights to it. ICS and/or CM9 are totally awesome ROMs and well worth trying out, despite their flaws. Even with no real hardware acceleration, they're awesome. Use texasice's version if you want near-stock ICS experience with a pinch of evervolv tweaks and use samuaz's build if you want a Cyanogenmod 9 experience. Sometime this year, we'll get an official CM9 build from the Cyanogenmod team, but texasice and samuaz have done an amazing job with porting ICS to us.
Other AOSP builds. These builds also kind of displays the stock android experience, but with user added features and frameworks. Some are based partly on Cyanogenmod 7 while others are based on something else. Bugless Beast and OxygeN1mod are among the best in this category.
You're free to choose what ROM suits you best, but my vote goes to Runny AIO or any of the two ICS builds.
Cheers.

Without fail daxinfinity's codenameandroid port;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485734
It's at the level where the CM9 alpha should be - great performance (especially with glitch kernel), best battery life of the ICS roms, and the most customization.
Do yourself a favour as well, install the apex launcher - looks and performance of the stock ICS launcher, but cyanogen levels of customization.
I tried cm9 and onecosmic
And now i got AKOP port 2.02
There is no lags , FC , not stuck , A lot of customizion
And it is the best for me

Teamhacksung is the best. In my experience, this is the most stable ICS build (currently on build 16). I have messed about with AOSP and AOSK and some of the other versions and at first they seem better but often they seem to have a fault - lockscreen freezes or problems with my external sd card and transferring large files with my laptop. I have found the semaphore kernerl (latest version) really good when setting on battery saver mode. You can also change the boot animation with ROM toolbox - good stuff there!

is a bad habit.
I am aware of badly implemented search function of xda, but still?
Best practice = read more, try self.
Pattern of phone usage will always be different.
Bro, hello there, I have 2 SGS, one is running CM9 with original kernel, and another one is with TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, no doubt, TeamICSSGS is my choice, it is fast, reliable, and most major function are working, around 95% of the function are working perfectly, especially the camera video effect, which makes my day..Try it, trust me..=D..have a nice day
Teamhacksung will pwn all the others and still does.
All those 'wow I have a new ROM' which is totally PAWITP's with a bit of my
own (kuch % battery and don't know what other kinda stupid stuff) are so
not comparable.
They call it SLIM ICS because they deleted some apps, wow it has such a
better battery and lightningfast, yeah well every dork can do that (but
they still call it a new ROM mhowhehaha). It's all in between the ears.
Still think there a 2 main ICS ROMS:
- OneCosmic
- TeamHacksung
And TeamHacksung, here flashed on my i9000, is still the best from build #1.
Stable, stock or on Glitch, so no need to flash all the 20 other useless things.
I don't even flash my phone now every week and my phone is kinda stable,
the accu's getting used to the build and with everything on I have a good
phone.
I use AOKP and I am very satisfied.
It has only very minor bugs and is perfectly suitable for everyday use.
I haven't used Teamhacksung as I had the "hello hello" bug in CM7 which others are reporting in Teamhacksungs CM9.
Currently using Team ICSSGS 4.2 with semaphore 0.8.1. Been using this combo for almost two weeks & battery life is awesome with great performance and for what I use my phone for it is super stable, virtually lag free and with no noticeable issues.
While I do miss all the customisations of the CM Roms the "hello hello" bug is a deal breaker for me. There is apparently a solution to actually fixing the bug but this also appears to work for some people but not all. (You can download hbb2_test.zip - http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4681 if you have these issues)
I agree with inozako TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, is the best solution....try it
Testing almost all, cm9, CNA ('s), AOKP ('s), MIUIv4 and finally AOKP 2.0.2 is the best, the most stable, the easiest to customize & very good battery.
in my signature no doubt
I haven't tried Teamhacksung's since i have i9000b and it doesnt support it but i did try ICSSGS and i tell you i cant think on a better rom. You should give it a try, since its avalible for i9000, i9000b captivate and vibrant

I tried the Slim ICS (dark knight) and it seems pretty good
